Coming Home (Flowers in December, #2) by Jane Suen – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

COMING HOME (Flowers in December, #2)COMING HOME by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Coming Home is the sequel to Jane Suen’s Flowers in December. Connor, whose return to his hometown for his mother’s funeral set the scene for Flowers in December, is coming back for good. He’s realised that the corporate life he worked so hard at isn’t making him, or Tom the cat, happy.
I was expecting this book to develop the relationship between Connor and Mary Ann that was the focus of Flowers in December. It was a pleasant surprise to find that it focuses more broadly on all kinds of relationships – friendships old and new, family and romance. It’s very much a Christmas story as Connor faces his first holiday season without his mum.
I wish Alana had more time to develop – I felt like she was very much in the background and we got most of her story in one go. But I guess it’s good that the book left me wanting more! I’m eager to read more of Alana’s story, as well as seeing how Connor and Mary Ann’s futures pan out.
For me, this is a four star read. If you want something comforting and festive, with plenty of originality, this is a great read! I would recommend starting with Flowers in December, but enough background information is given that you could probably get away with reading it as a standalone.

This book is amazing. I love Kimberly Packard stories and I was excited by the name of this story. Vortex can be several things and can be symbolize many feelings and relationships. Ms. Packard has created an amazing story with vivid details and believable complex characters. This story is a fast paced and nail-biting action. I did not plan on reading this in one sitting but I did. If you are a storm chaser, you will love this story as well. Vortex lives up to its name with a twister in the background of a love story, family, and identity in the mix. The story of Seth and Elaina is one for the books! Will the relationship take a twist in the right direction or will the winds blow the other way? I am hoping that Ms. Packard continues the story into a series.

If The Shoe Fits... (The Liberty Lawrence Series Book #3)If The Shoe Fits… by Bea Stevens
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a sweet story that has mystery and suspense mixed into it. Libby gets a job with a fashion section but her boss is not the nicest. What will happen when a look alike hoodie from the collection could have been used in a crime? Lives are now at stake and there just maybe no one to help. Libby’s character is great and made me laugh a little bit, plus her mouth has a habit of getting her in trouble. Creative story and I enjoyed the twists and turns. I highly recommend this book.

I loved this book! It is my favorite from this author yet. It is a story about a young girl who loses both of her sisters tragically. Just as she is able to live life for herself the past has a way of coming back around. This story is full of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and kept me turning pages. This story goes back and forth between present and past but it is done in a way that is easily understood. You won’t regret picking this book up! A must read.

I’m so sad this series is over but absolutely love how this author brought it all together and I was completely satisfied with all that happened in this book. I was off base with my predictions and I was sad at first but then it all made sense to me and I was very happy.

This has been an amazing series, I read book 2 first which was a big mistake because it had me all confused so had to go back and read book 1 to get some of the answers I needed.

I fell completely in love with the characters in all 3 books and loved some of the connections and bonds that were unbreakable and worth fighting for.

I will absolutely read this series again in the future and will recommend it to anyone that needs a good series to get lost in.

Many thanks to this author and I can’t wait to see what will come next.

I have been waiting to read this book – waiting very patiently and it was everything I wanted and more! I LOVE this author! I just think she is completely amazing! She knows how to write MC stories like no one else I know or read before and Little Do You Know did not disappoint AT ALL!!!!! It was a very intense read, maybe more so than I was expecting but I just couldn’t put it down.
Noah – oh how I loved him! He has loved his girl his entire life and is totally committed to being with her once he has his freedom – the way he talked about Kady you could honestly feel the love he had for her.
Kady – where did she come from?!? She was an amazing character and I think she probably stole the story for me! I didn’t want to like her at first, especially the way she acted towards Noah – he is just the best! BUT her story was heart-breaking and I admired the strength that she had.
Noah and Kady’s story was mesmerizing from beginning to end. The emotion running through the whole story was great. I 100% loved every single page I read and I cannot recommend it enough! I think this may be my favourite from this series!!
I can’t wait to read more from this author again in the future.

Brand new author for me, and has already been added to the OMG must read everything available. I can’t even put into words how much I loved this book. The character building, the flow, the storyline, the twists, the danger, the sitting on the edge of my seat moments…Everything was spot on for me.

Every emotion…i felt every one and the ending *sigh*, I could just ramble on for days and I already loved this genre but now because of this author I believe it is probably my chosen genre…Don’t get me wrong I love all the others too but I am a suspense fanatic and I love being a back seat crime solver.

I will have everything this author writes on my kindle before it’s over..I don’t know how I’ve gone so long without reading her work but here I am and I can not wait!!

Thank you Miss Anderson for an amazingly awesome story!!

Another wonderful read in this series! I loved the two books that came before this one so I was really looking forward to reading this one and I was not disappointed. It was everything that I have come to expect from this author – beautifully written, great characters, lovely plot and full of emotion! I loved how she tied up everything from the previous two books together with this one – I always thought I knew Alex and what his story would be like so I LOVED that I was wrong! The author definitely threw in some unpredictable curveballs which made the story even more exciting to read! I am really sad that the story of these wonderful characters has ended but I know for sure whatever J D Boudreaux writes next it will be equally as wonderful and I will be eagerly awaiting more from her in the future!

The Devil's Shadow (Wild Beasts Series Book 4)The Devil’s Shadow by T. Birmingham
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give The Devil’s Shadow (Wild Beasts Series Book 4) by T. Birmingham, 4 stars.

Ginny is losing her mind. She has always been told madness runs in her family and now it seems like it’s finally happening. She is seeing things now. But that isn’t her only problem. So much has happened to her, she will never be “normal”. She has accepted it as much as she can but there is one problem, and his name is Kieran. This man won’t leave her alone. He believes she is his fated mate. But she is too broken, she cannot pull someone down. This is not the only problems surrounding this couple and their friends. There have been murders happening around them, and it seems like the supernatural may be involved. Can they get to the bottom of what is really happening and just how far does it go? What will happen between these two extraordinary people? Can they find love or are they destined to be alone?

This book is quite good. It has been a long time since I read the previous book, so it took me a little while to get back into it, but it is such an incredible world and soon I was pulled in and could not put the book down. The story is so complex — there are many things happening in this book. Not to mention the fact that all of the characters are great. I felt like a part of this “family”. The author does such a good job of weaving a fantastic tale of love, suspense, and action set in the supernatural world. I cannot wait to read the next book and highly recommend this book and series.

The Devil's Shadow (Wild Beasts Series Book 4)The Devil’s Shadow by T. Birmingham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Devil’s Shadow is the fourth book in T. Birmingham’s Wild Beasts paranormal romance series. Each book can be read as a standalone, as they follow two new main characters and their relationship and a new mystery to solve. The Devil’s Shadow follows Kieran Gimble and Ginny Zolanski and how they begin to slowly intertwine as fated mates. Their romance was very well written and mixed in nicely with all the paranormal elements of the story, that kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the lore of the book, and the myths and monsters it has created, and Birmingham’s take on these creatures of the night. I loved her descriptions and writing throughout the book. I especially enjoyed her unique take on ‘light versus dark’ trope, and that complex characters aren’t one or the other; that humans always struggle with what is good and what is evil, and always sit in this gray area of morality.
I was a little skeptical when I first bought this book, but was quickly swept up in the magic of the story and the beauty of the writing. I highly recommend this series, and look forward to the next one by T. Birmingham

Libby can’t believe her luck when she lands the job in the fashion section of ‘Woman Matters’ the Chronicle’s female supplement. She also can’t believe how horrid her new boss, Valerie Fulton-Coombes is.
She’s thrilled to be set to work on a new personalised clothing collection until she realises its poor quality – which would have been apparent even if she hadn’t accidentally torn one of the tops. Valerie, however seems besotted by the clothes, and even more besotted by the designer, George Clooney look-alike, Quinton Bellis.
Libby digs out some information about Bellis and his company which Valerie would rather not hear. When a similar hoodie to that in the collection is significant in an attempted kidnap, Valerie is devastated – especially as she’d misunderstood the reason for the police’s visit and blurted out a lot of personal incriminating information they didn’t need to hear and she certainly didn’t need to confess.
Things go from bad to worse when Valerie and Libby realise someone wants them dead. Can James help this time? Can anyone save them? And is it wise to put all your faith in a shoe when lives are at stake – even if it is a Louboutin?

Some drama, mystery and a whole lot of mayhem. This story follows a pretty awesome girl named Britt and her friends as they battle their way through life and protecting their town from demons. This story was well written and it kept my interest throughout the whole book. I was drawn to how well the characters were developed and I thought the story overall was great. By: Kylie Stewart
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Feathers – A Novel by Kylie Stewart was an raw emotional read, that had me hooked from start to finish.

My first read from this author, and I have to say, I fell hard for the smooth writing style and the embedded emotion that made my heart ache for Lotte.

What an emotional read! Right from the start the author pulls at all our hearts strings. The good, bad, ugly, rage, and pity. This story is a tale of learning how to trust, grow, and learning how to let go and pick up the pieces, after an unimaginable trama. Care was taken and no detail was spared in pulling the reader in, and keeping them engaged.

I will say at first I did have a little bit of a problem with the age difference, and that more so had to do with Lotte being 14 when she was rescued. But my fears were dismissed as I got deeper into the story, and the author made sure not to cross that line. The care that was taken, and the gradual growth and maturing of romantic feelings over the span of 7 years, made the story sweet, deep and almost dream like.

Overall this book, as emotionally raw as it was, was truly a beautiful story of finding light in the darkness. This book gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading.

There Be Demons by M.K. Theodoratus is a great addition to the YA fantasy world. This story focused on Britt who is a 14 yr old normal girl, until she isn’t. Then there’s Gillen who needs to help her in order to help himself and everyone else. The story overall was pretty enjoyable, I found myself following along and not getting bored. The characters were well written, with Britt you are wondering how much she really wants to be the hero and how much she wants to be blissfully ignorant, but you can’t unsee things unfortunately. It was a good read that I think my oldest son will enjoy.

Trouble’s Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy) by Jen Talty is a four star novel. When I read about the premise of this book, I was skeptical. I am not a cat lover for sure but it was interesting that this cat, Trouble, is at the heart of this novel and helps his people figure out mysteries. When Annabelle finds Trouble, she knows that he is there to help her and make her life better. She starts seeing Ethan, the sheriff after years of not knowing anything about him. As they try to take care of each other, bad stuff is happening around them and they have to decide to figure things out and revisit their past in order to deal with their past hurts so that they can move forward together.

Annie finds herself in an interesting situation. I didn’t think this book would start off the way it did. Had wished it was a pick up from book one. Annie is a likeable character though I don’t think she had much presence. I was more focused on Millicent and wanting to know her background. The same with Thayer. They just didn’t give me the vibe. However I did like parts of the story and found myself excited by the end. So the story does pick up midway. I really have enjoyed this authors works.

Let me start off by saying wow, what an amazing read!! This book was a very emotional read. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I got to the end, needless to say I had a late night. Charlotte and Hawk are wonderful characters that I couldn’t get enough of. The things that Charlotte had to endure were unthinkable and my heart cried for her. She says she will never trust a man again, but there is something about Hawk that pulls her to him. Hawk who has been thorough a great deal himself and even though there is a connection he feels towards Charlotte, he tries to keep his distance. There is pain, tragedy, unthinkable acts, but there is also passion, attraction, friendship and hope in this extraordinary read. This book offers so much and was so expertly written. This. Book!

This story epically ruined me and that is something I have never said before. When an author and story can bring out the most raw emotions in you and ones you didn’t think you had, they deserve the 10+ star award.

This was one of those books that the first chapter consumed me and I knew life needed to be put on hold because there was no way I was coming up for air. I tried to slow down but I kept stopping what I was doing just to get wrapped up in the story again. I’m not going to sit here and give the deets because I feel this is one of those books people need to jump in blind and just grab on to that amazing rollercoaster it’ll take you on.

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve tried getting the words down to describe the heart breaking beauty I read but I can’t. All I can say is jump on this book! Everyone needs the shattering story in their life. This is one of those books that will stick with me for a good long time!
