My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Al Capone at the Blanche Hotel by Linda Bennett Pennell is a story set in both contemporary times and the 1930’s. The story starts with Jack Blevins witnessing a body being moved in Lake City, Florida at the Blanche Hotel. What has he seen and who is involved in this crime? Move forward to the Gainesville, Florida in 2011 and you have Liz Reams who is a historian interested in crime. Will she solve the mystery behind the summer of violence and Al Capone’s involvement.
I really enjoyed the time periods and locations introduced in this book. I am a fan of historical fiction and love stories from the early 20th century. This checked all my boxes. I enjoyed how the story unfolded and the characters were interesting. There is a bit of romance but not over the top. Overall, I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
