Diamonds & Deception (Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 3) by Ellen Butler

5 Stars

Another homerun for this author and this must read series. This author crept up on me back with Isabella’s Painting which is what got me hooked on her. This was an awesome addition to this series and Karina continues to be one of my favorite characters ever. I have also quickly fallen for the Silverthorne Security guys, I love everything about the interaction between them and Karina. Another series with them would not disappoint me in any way.

This story was just another Karina getting in the middle of a mess, thanks to her sister and at no fault of her own. She just seems to fall into these circumstances that draw her in and she can’t seem to say no. I love her! Something else I really love about these books is the relationship between Mike and Karina… It’s there, you know its there but its not the main focus, which makes these books refreshing to read.

I love this author and I highly recommend reading all of these in order so you can appreciate the many different aspects of this book.

Amazing!

Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas (The Hills of Texas Book 4) by Kadie Scott – Review by Karyn Taylor

Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas (Hills of Texas #4)Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas by Kadie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Claiming The Cowboy For Christmas is the 4th book in the Hills Of Texas series by Kadie Scott. I have to say that this has been my favourite book in the series, although I have loved the others. This is a beautiful friends to lovers romance with a bit of a difference.
Ashley Hughes has come home to be bridesmaid at her twin sister’s wedding…to her ex. Added to that her best friend from childhood, Jennings Hill, who she fell out with due to her relationship with her ex, will be there. Jennings has been in love with Ashley since they were 14 and is out to convince her that he is the right man for her. One issue being that Jennings is convinced she’s still in love with her ex.
I absolutely loved the characters of Ashley and Jennings. Ashley is trying so hard to prove to everyone that she isn’t still in love with Eric while fighting with the feelings she has for Jennings. Jennings is actually such a sweetheart, I totally adored him. The outward façade of the big tough cowboy hides a sweet, romantic man at heart.
The storyline flows really well and is very realistic and believable. I loved the added bonus that this book was set at Christmas time as that really added to the storyline for me.
We’ve now seen all 4 Hill men succumb to the charms of their women, will we now get to see the only female Hill sibling, Carter, get her HEA? I really hope so.

Falling For His Badass by Jessika Klide – Review by Jenni Bishop

Falling For His BadassFalling For His Badass by Jessika Klide
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Falling For His Badass by Jessika Klide is a contemporary romance but is hot and sexy. This tantalizing little treat is just what is needed to escape the mysteries of life and plunge you into an alternate world you can only imagine from stories. The characters are complex but so much fun and Jessikas writing style is effortless as her words flow easily and just pop off the page.

Lizzie is over men and just wants a night out to enjoy herself. When she literally bumps into a solid wall of muscle little does she know that her life is about to change.

One look and that was all he needed to make her his but is the road to love that easy?

If you love romances, you will love this one. Trust me it is well worth the ride.

Ricochet by Kathryn Berla – Review by Angela Hayes

RicochetRicochet by Kathryn Berla
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ricochet is a fascinating and thought provoking story by Kathryn Berla. It is a YA sci-fi fantasy with a very intriguing premise, some drama, interesting characters, mystery, and adventure.
I have read most of Ms. Berla’s books now and have enjoyed how she manages to create such diverse fantasies. And this book is no different. I was attracted to this book entirely by the cover and the original concept- before I had even realised it was by Kathryn Berla.
Going in we meet seventeen year old Tati, who doesn’t realise that she will soon discover things that will turn her world upside down and change everything she thought she knew about the world, and herself. It all starts when she sends a sample off for ancestry DNA testing. When it comes back inconclusive, it sets off a chain of events (coupled with her unexplained convulsions) that reveals parallel worlds, and her other ‘selves’. And so, the adventure begins.
The story is fairly fast paced and does ‘jump’ around a bit between past and present, and the changes in character perspectives- which made it a little confusing at times- but after adjusting to the ‘jauntiness’ of it all, the story became much easier to read.
I really wish there had been more ‘world building’, as I really would have liked to explore that aspect of the story more. I also think that whilst the characters were good, they lacked the depth and complexity which would have made them ‘great’ and this story a lot more exciting- elevating it to a whole new level. With the promise that the premise held, this book could have been amazing, and although it was a ‘good’ read- I was left just a little disappointed.
Don’t be put off reading this story though, because it is well written and does deserve a read- I am just being greedy and wanted ‘more’ of the characters, their world/s, and the story.
I wonder what Ms. Berla has in store for us next?

Thank you, Ms. Berla!

Virtue & Vice (Spicetopia #2) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Michelle Austin

Virtue & Vice (Spicetopia Book 2)Virtue & Vice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Virtue & Vice was a great 5 star read and book two in the Spicetopia series.
I was excited to get started on this book. I was pulled in once again by Phoebe’s writing.

We start where book one left off. Moon and Katja are swingers that Cy and Jolie met in Greece. Moon and Katja are excited to work with Cy and Jolie on their adult theme park, even though at first they weren’t sure if it was going to be a reality.

Can they really make an adult theme park work?

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I highly suggest reading book one first. All of the characters were great and I’m excited to see what’s coming next in the series. I will warn that there is some BDSM and some very hot and steamy scenes at times with two couples in a scene, some of the scenes are mighty hot and might melt your kindle. 1-click and get started today.

Magic-Price (The Crown of Stones, #1)Magic-Price by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a wonderful book! It has a good solid story, great plot, the dialogue was smooth and flowing. C. L. Schneider has written a winner with The Crown of Stones: Magic Price. Ian Troy is unforgettable as are all the well-crafted players in this great book. It gets a little steamy in places but even with all that this book hits my perfect list. Although this is a fantasy it doesn’t feel like one. I can’t wait to read the next one, however I should probably clean my house first because I couldn’t put this one down.

5-Stars

Dark Feathers by Natalina Reis was a wonderful 5-star, Fantasy, Romance read. I absolutely loved this novel. I was hooked from the beginning and could not put this book down. Jo and Nix were excellent characters to follow as the main characters of the story. The author did wonderful with both of their development and you can see their personalities mature as the story progresses. I also enjoyed how descriptive the author was with each setting. I found that it was easy to visualize where scenes would take place because of that.

This novel is the second in this series but can be read as a standalone. It would be a better fit for those of more mature minds possibly 16+ in age due to sexual content and language. It is easy to follow and creative. I highly recommend it!

Fisher Men On the X (Book III)Fisher Men On the X by Rebel Nicks O’Dey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rebel Nicks O’Dey has done it again with another brilliant addition to this series, each book continues to get better and better, these books can be read as a standalone but as we get previous characters brought in this one its nice to read them as a series, but to be honest why wouldn’t you want to read the whole series, its one amazing series!

This book has action, adventure, suspense, romance & and an incredible storyline that leaves you wanting more. You get captivated from page one from the amazing characters that you can’t help but connect with and love, but also the amazing storyline that Rebel Nicks O’Dey creates.

I loved reading Becca & Zack’s story with their great chemistry and the journey they take from their past to the present. I can’t wait for more from this author! I’ll eagerly be awaiting the next one, so you definitely don’t want to miss any.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Dark Feathers by Natalina Reis, 5 stars.

Phoenix is a dark angel minion who has been at the mercy of his master’s torture for so long, that’s all he remembers. While he is waiting in earth to bring another soul to his master, a human comes by and she can see him. This is unheard of and his master wants him to find out more about this woman. So he is sent to earth to see if she is a threat. He is able to insert himself into her life and the more he is with her, the more he feels things he thought he never would. He feels more and more that maybe she is someone he wants to be with, be he can’t. Can he? What would the cost be? When her life is in danger, he finds out just what he really will do for this woman.

As much as she loves him, Joan just wants to live a life away from her brother and have a life of her own. So she moves to another town and gets a place of her own. Not quite able to pull it all off on her own, she advertises for a roommate. The man who answers seems like the perfect candidate, although it’s obvious to her that he has secrets. But he is so much better than the others, and he is quite good looking to top it all off. He quickly find a spot in her heart, but how will she feel when she learns the real reason he was sent hear? Can she trust him?

If you have read Lavender Fields by this author, you may remember Joan. It has been quite a while since I read it, and I didn’t not put the connection together at first. Once I did, I was so excited because I knew I would love this whole book! The characters are spectacular, Joan and Phoenix make wonderful primary characters — relatable and each struggle with their own problems. The secondary characters just add more flavor. Some we may remember as well a some news ones to add to the mix. Not to mention the story itself — the feelings Phoenix and Joan have for each other is there pretty quickly. But so is there is also suspense thrown in involving both Joan and Phoenix. I could not wait to finish this book, it was so good!

This is a wonderful paranormal romance and I highly recommend this book.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

TOXIC BLONDE is book 2 in The Delarosa Series and can be read as a stand-alone.

Johnny Delarosa is a private investigator and because this book is told in first person, I find myself narrating it in the old timey detective voice. Very noir in nature. There are layers and twists and suspense and everything that makes a detective series good.

This is an enjoyable read that was easy to follow and I definitely recommend it.

The story Dark Feathers is an amazing book to read. It will pull you in from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go until you have read the final page. I loved the characters of Phoenix and Joan. What does the future hold for them? Read this book to find out. Phoenix and Joan are characters that I grew to care about with each chapter that I read. There are also others that I enjoyed their characters and how they interact with the main ones. The story has heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. It has romantic moments that will have your heart being stolen away. This is a book I would highly recommend.

Toxic Blonde by David Stever a five-star read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is the second story in the Delarosa Series, and I have read them in order and enjoyed them that way, I would recommend you read them in order to get the most out of them. Johnny Delarosa is described in such a great way that he is exactly as you picture an old time PI, he keeps the story going. The suspense is done very well, it keeps you hooked all the way through. The action is powerful enough to keep you on your toes but not overdone to the point that it drives you mad. Overall a very well-done story and one you shouldn’t miss.

I have to say I am one of those that enjoys binge reading about as much as binging my favorite tv series or movies. I love finding box sets that affords me time to invest in the characters and immerse myself in a world that is created. I adore this box set from Renee Regent. This contains the first three books of the Higher Elevation series. Each story grasps you with its vivid descriptions of scenes and feelings. I found myself running through all the emotions as I read, sometimes choking back those tears and others giggling from the relevant humor dotted throughout. I have to say that book one was a tad slow to start so I was worried that I had made a bad decision with this set. Don’t hesitate if you feel the same. The books do start to pick up and I found myself saying this has to be my favorite from Renee Regent yet. I give these all an overall a 5 star rating. I can’t wait to see what will come next from the talented mind of Ms. Regent!

Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas (Hills of Texas #4)Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas by Kadie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely LOVED this book! These characters are written so well I feel like I know them and could hang out with them. I really just want to join their fun family for any reason 🙂 They made me laugh, tear up and giggle a time or two. Mostly though I sit here with a BIG smile on my face while reading. That’s total enjoyment for me out of this story.

I can’t get enough of this family. These brothers! I just love when they have out and offer advice to each other. They have such great banter which shows a wonderful relationship between them.

Ashely, Jennings, Taylor and Eric….I really *felt* for these characters. What they have gone through and survived..this is one tough story because it could have easily gone another way. I enjoyed the way the author told the story to make it all believable and have he say..”Yeah that could happen” Many times I was irritated at Ashely or Eric then to turn around and be irritated at something Jennings did. Next they would crack me up and we would start all over again. Taylor was just a wonderful sister and so happy most of the time.

I love this series and this author does a wonderful job on the story. The chemistry between Jennings and Ashley is WHITE HOT! Be beware! I liked how the Christmas theme was weaved throughout this story. It was all perfect!
Next please!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Toxic Blonde is the 2nd book in the Johnny Delarosa Thriller Series by David Stever. I had loved the first book in the series and this one was even better. It is an action packed thriller that will grab you from the very beginning and have you on the edge of your seat right up to the very end. Stever sure knows how to write an amazing thriller. The story continually flows and is full of emotion, drama, suspense and intrigue. I could not put this book down.
In this book Johnny thinks he has taken on another boring case proving that a husband is having an affair. In fact it turns out to be much, much more than that and Johnny ends up helping out the FBI in a case which also involves the Russian Mafia – a far cry from the boring cheating case he thought he had taken on.
Again Johnny is helped out by his assistant Katie and Mike, his ex-partner when he was a cop, who he now owns a bar with. We are also introduced to Eric, a hacker, who has an outrageous personality. I really hope Eric continues to be part of the team in future books in this series as he added so much character to this book.
If you enjoy an action packed thriller then this is definitely the book for you.

In the Higher Elevation Series Box Set, by Renee Regent we have three delightful stories. Not only are they a delight to read they are each one very different. Unexplained, Untouched, and Undeniable are all three easy to read, they have strong characters that Ms. Regent has described so well that they are unforgettable, with plenty of action, suspense and mystery. In Unexplained there is plenty of page turning suspense. My personal favorite was Untouched. This was a story in a story. When you read this one listen for the deeper story. In Undeniable, well who can resist a story about hope and second chances. Of course, there is romance too and quite steamy in a few spots. Good solid stories that were a pleasure to read.

I chose to review book 2 as it is my favorite.
In this book you will find suspense, a little twist and a whole lot of forbidden love. They can be a standalone but best to read the series from the beginning.

Zoe Somersby has taken her job to the limit. Her specialty is translating many languages, under cover. But she does not let on so, she can hear what is needed. To keep her boss safe. Be his ears during his business dealings. Learning everything could come to a halt. After all she did sign a contract stating she could not get involved with the boss personally!

Archer Blackwood is the CEO of his own company, extremely good looking but, he is cold and ruthless. Loaded with money Archer is in control of everything. He has hired Zoe, the one and only woman that has gotten under his skin. He has no time for falling in love?

India Kells is an exciting new author for me. She sucked right into her book. This story was filled with all kinds of angst and twists. Her characters will make you fall in love with them, well some of them anyway. Others will just keep you wondering when they will get to meet Karma. Now that she has a boxed set I can read them again all together. A must if you love re reading the series as I do. So feel free to get started with this series. I will be out here waiting for her next series.

A Cowboy Under the Mistletoe Anthology by Susan Fisher Davis, Leslie Garcia, Melissa Keir, Debbie Desmarteau, Stephanie Berget, D’Ann Lindun – Review by Liz Vrchota

A Cowboy Under the MistletoeA Cowboy Under the Mistletoe by Susan Fisher Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Its that time of year, my favorite, when the weather begins to turn a bit more crisp and the nights become longer. Things always seem to have a bit of a magical luster to them this time of year and what better way to enjoy a long cold night than to tuck in with a good light romance based in the best of all seasons, Christmas.

A Cowboy Under the Mistletoe is an anthology must have full of stories that will be sure to warm your heart when you need it the most. I loved that some of my favorite authors participated, but adored that I was able to read a few new authors as well. I believe that a cowboy alpha is one of the perfect scenarios for a love story, so throw in the holidays too and you have a magical mix. I found myself laughing, crying, and cheering for each of these couples. Each book was unique but they all played along with the anthology and nothing was done in a cheesy way. Something I always tend to find in anthologies is one book that just doesn’t fit in with the rest or is so over the top I can’t finish it. This wasn’t the case and I would give at least 4 if not 5 stars to each book. I hope this is a taste of what could be an annual favorite! The following books are included;

-A Cowboy For Christmas By: Susan Fisher Davis
-The Cowboy’s Christmas Hand By: Leslie Garcia
-Tempting the Cowboy By: Melissa Keir
-A Different Kind Of Christmas By: Debbie Desmarteau

Beneath the Fallen City (The Omni Towers Series Book 1) by Jamie A. Waters – Review by Jenni Bishop

Beneath the Fallen City (The Omni Towers, #1)Beneath the Fallen City by Jamie A. Waters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beneath the Fallen City (The Omni Towers Series Book 1) by Jamie A. Waters is a paranormal romance. It is a story set in the future where going outside could kill you and there is a distinct separation between the classes. The empowered in the tower and the ruin rats who make a living foraging for treasures.

Kayla has spent her life in the ruins looking for treasure, it gives her a sense of calming being there, but her methods have raised the notice of others. Some good some not so good. But what happens on a routine trade changes her life and who she is forever.

It is a well written story that will keep you fully engrossed to the dangers and goings on in the world that Jamie has created. Whilst I truly loved this story, I do not agree with the author (cause you know it is my story, lol) on the choice of Alec and Kayla together, it’s a NO from me. This needs to be fixed, (Jamie break that bond) because I fell in love with Carl.

Anywho, it is absolutely worth the read. Bring on more Kayla and Carl………………………….

Dark Feathers by Natalina Reis – Review by Jenni Bishop

Dark FeathersDark Feathers by Natalina Reis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dark Feathers by Natalina Reis is another wondrous tale by this talented author. This is probably my favourite by Natalina and that is saying something because I just loved the first one, Lavender Fields. Natalina has woven a magical story where I easily got swept away with the characters that I fell in love with in the previous book. It’s been two years since Lavender Fields, but I am glad we have finally gotten here. Absolutely beautiful Natalina. Don’t forget the tissues. I love me some angels. I won’t share the story as I want you to truly experience it all by yourself.
