Maggie (Maggie Trilogy Book 1) by Mya O’Malley – Review by Shani Kenny

MaggieMaggie by Mya O’Malley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Naomi fell in love with her little house that was built centuries ago, with a backdrop of a cemetery in her backyard. She was drawn to it for many reasons, even some she3 doesn’t recognize. Her life has been a bit chaotic and she finds herself suddenly wrapped up in one crazy mishap after another while trying to navigate her social life. Much to her dismay, her friend Amy convinces her to go on blind double dates over and over, trying to help her to overcome the aftermath of a disastrous relationship. In the course of these adventures, she meets a mysterious man who piques her interest in many ways. He’s kind, adventurous has a lof of life and full of kindness she hasn’t always known. His interest in her life feels just so good. Then walks in Bryce and she’s suddenly trying to maneuver her feelings for both men while tackling her writer’s block and a beloved cat’s antics that have her scratching her head.

What Naomi doesn’t see coming is the appearance of Maggie, the ghost of a young woman who is in peril. She can’t move on, is restless and is in desperate need of peace. In order to find that peace, she’s drawn to Naomi and attempts to get her to help her find what she seeks. Through their interactions, Naomi is faced with a mystery she’s determined to figure out. She’s going to figure it out, even if it costs her the love of a good friend, a budding relationship and oddly enough, some of her sanity.

Through this whole adventure, she’s on, I found myself totally enraptured. The characters are well built, entertaining and have a touch of rawness that makes them so real. I never saw it coming, the truth behind Ryan, what really happened to Maggie and even Nick’s involvement in some of it. I loved how I was so caught up in their story. I felt all the emotions and then some. It’s such a good book with a paranormal spin that added a terrific layer to the mystery. I commend the author for making the paranormal happenings believable and real. I felt an awesome connection to Maggie and Naomi. It’s such a fabulous read!

Maggie (Maggie Trilogy Book 1)
by Mya O’Malley

I couldn’t put this book down once I started reading. There were twists and turns, and as soon as you thought you knew what was going on there was a twist, it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. It was interesting and entertaining to see how Zelda (the cat) reacted to Maggie. Naomi was very open minded to the ghost in her house. Although Naomi could be very naive at times she did have a big heart and truly wanted to help. Even though Naomi just got out of a bad relationship she was still willing to let her friend set her up, which turned out to be a very bad date. If it wouldn’t have been for that bad date she wouldn’t have met Ryan who happen to be at the bar when she was on her bad date. Ryan was very attractive and there seemed to be a connection right away. Bryce and Holly, Naomi’s attractive new neighbor and his daughter are two refreshing characters in this story. I don’t want to give anything away but I loved this book, there is romance, suspense, and some wonderful characters and I highly recommend reading it.

Somebody in the Neighborhood by Judy Moore – Review by Elizabeth Clark

Somebody in the Neighborhood by Judy Moore is a book full of mystery, suspense and interesting characters. This book is well written and the amount of detail will make you think you are actually inside the book.

Somebody in the Neighborhood is about a young woman Dawn who moves to Florida into her recently deceased Aunt’s house. Dawn’s Aunt Amy is the 2nd murder victim in the small Florida community. With the killer still unknown Dawn finds suspicious characters all around her. While reading this book I thought I knew who the killer was until the next chapter and I would think it was someone else. This author did a fantastic job writing this book. I liked her characters and found myself turning pages as fast as possible so I could figure out who the killer was.

This book is more than just a murder mystery it is also a story about a young woman growing into her own. Watching Dawn grow throughout the book was beautiful and inspiring. Dawn becomes an independent, strong woman ready to take on the world. I enjoyed reading this book and reading Dawn’s story.

And you will never guess who the killer is..

This is my first book by this author and in doing research I see that there are many books I need to go back and read. I love MC books, they are among my favorites.

I did have trouble at first wondering if I was missing a lot of this story, which is why I went looking through her books. She did a good job of updating things but I still felt like I was missing something. Once I got towards the middle I found myself totally invested in all of these people. I loved Cort and I truly felt for him after reading and understanding his story, and his brothers totally won my heart with trying so hard to make things right for him. I loved Seren in this story as well, she was totally awesome and their story was written different then Im used to and I really liked it even if I can’t explain it LOL

I definitely did not like the town, it was a complete mess but what Cort and his brothers were trying to do to fix it was awesome and I must also mention this is one of the first books I’ve ever read that I actually felt present at the start of an MC and that was cool! I can’t wait to move forward with this series and see who we get to know more about. I loved so many of the secondary characters that I hope this series covers them all.

Took me a bit to fall into the writing style of this author…I had to go back and read sometimes two or three times to figure out the change of scenes or what was happening, but once I got a grip on it I was fine so hopefully the next book I won’t have any issues at all.

Really enjoyed it and can not wait for more.

This author has quickly climbed to my one click list and once again I know why. This book immediately pulled me in so deep I didn’t want to leave. The characters truly grab readers and take them on their journey. I found myself completely lost in the story world the author created. It’s got suspense and romance that can make the room temperature rise, it’s everything I love in a book. It’s a well thought out story line that’s both written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. Each character brings something unique to this incredible story. I’m excited to see where the author takes readers next. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

Master’s Rise was a good story. I’m not personally a huge fan of motorcycle stories, it’s not my favorite type of genre, but I really did enjoy this story! It was very well written, with a clear story line and plot. I had a little trouble keeping all the characters together though. Language and some steamy scenes makes this an 18+ book in my opinion. I’m definitely interested in reading more books from L. Ann Marie!

I was once again on the edge of my seat. I was not let down with this the 6th book in this series. The author has such a unique way of drawing out the drama adding intrigue. I felt as though I was in the action as it happened. The characters just seemed to jump right off of the page bringing the action to the reader.

Jumping back into Petrosky’s life is once again a journey into the macabre. I really enjoyed this change of pace and genre. The way that his life has changed for the better and his struggles with the changes show how personified his character is. I really could sense the emotions rolling as he was investigating the case. I was glued to the pages to find out what would happen next. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

Singles...And Other SingularitiesSingles…And Other Singularities by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars

This is an extremely detailed story that I don’t this can be jumped right into because it starts “in the middle” of Leda’s story and can be difficult to follow if you don’t know the backstory. It is my recommendation that “The Italian Saga” be read, in order, first.

It is wonderful reading about women in the STEM field and how there are STILL different standards for men and women Ph.D. candidates.

As with other stories I have read by this author, the writing is incredibly detailed and I did skim quite a bit. At the core of this story are relationships of the most complex type. Intricacies in human behavior and how one reacts to different settings and personalities.

Well written and plotted, this story can continue for years to come as life unfolds.

Rule The Larussio Legacy (#1)Rule The Larussio Legacy by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rule by Via Mari is book one in the in the Larussio Legacy series. I previously read the Torizal Affair series by Via Mari and was thrilled to get my hands on this one. She is an excellent writer. Her stories have a way of drawing you in and holding you captive until the very last page. She paints the story so well. Her characters and their descriptions are so strong and you can’t help but love them. There is the perfect amount of romance, steam, and suspense in all of her novels and that includes this book as well. In this installment, there are so many powerful men and families. I like how this book goes through each person’s point of view so seamlessly. When I first saw that there were 4 different point of views I was a little skeptical of how it would work… but Via has done it again… it worked out perfectly. Chase and Katarina are just precious and I fell in love with them in the previous series. In addition to my 2 favorite characters we were introduced to Giovanni and Serena. His attraction to her is instant but her distaste for him, which stems from her family history, is discovered just as fast. I really enjoyed watching the two become acquaintances and more once they sorted out the misjudgments of their pasts. The end of the book is kind of a cliff hanger, so I am very eager to get my hands on the next one.

These books start off this wonderfully dark and twisted series. Each one will make you think and remember it long after you put down the book. The stories are tragic and the characters twisty. If you don’t like graphic gruesome depiction then pass this one by. But if you are looking for a late night read that spurs your grey matter….than snag this baby.

Morrison is my favorite character in the series. Yeah most is written about Petrosky but Morrison…he was a walking, talking billboard of how someone can change their life. You will meet him in these books as well as others…but remember he is the best!

The story The Istanbul Conspiracy (Code Raven Book 7) by Lynda Filler is a book that starts off with a bang and didn’t let me go until the final page. It takes you on a non-stop journey that will keep you guessing. I was on the edge of my seat. It all starts with a wedding that is about to take place between DJ Turk and the daughter of the Minister of Defense. Then the unimaginable happens. Luke and Samaar of the Raven Group have their own wedding that gets called off because of a breach in security. They come to the aid of DJ Turk to find out the reason for what happened on the yacht. This puts the Raven Group hard at work. What they find is a conspiracy that must be prevented. Will Luke, Samaar, and the Raven Group be able to find those who have put their plans into motion and stop them in time? Read this book to find out. WoW! This is an awesome book that I just couldn’t put down. There are twists that I did not see coming and I had to remind myself to breathe. I have always loved the character of Luke and Samaar and I could only root for them and the complete Raven Group to succeed. The author does a wonderful job of making you feel like you are right there with the characters. This is a book you don’t want to miss out on. I highly recommend it.

Set it Free (Fallen Eagles MC Book 3) by T. Birmingham is a romantic suspense and I loved it. It is the third book in the series, and I suggest you start at the beginning and work up to this one because there is a lot of reference of things that happened in the other two books. Each book is about one of four sisters. Pages turned quickly because I needed to know what the outcome was. It is an emotional read and yes there were tears ok a lot of tears but there were also moments of laughter.

Springs past continues to haunt her and to dull her pain in alcohol is the only way she can cope. Unfortunately, she has to hit rock bottom and lose the one thing trying to hold her together.

I absolutely loved this read! Everything about this I enjoyed! Being a Fantasy read it was an automatic thing to want to read this as it’s one of my favourite genres. But for it to be a shifter read it made it even better!

I was totally and utterly captivated with this read from start to finish! It had everything I love from a fantasy read, it had a bit of mystery, romance, passion, action and danger. I loved the characters they were real, relatable and really brought the story to life! I loved watching the quick connection grow between Piper & Noah but you could tell it would be an epic, intense and amazing one!

I can’t wait to find out more about our secondary characters and where else this series takes us. My only disappointment was how quick it seemed to end, I wanted more! I can’t wait to see what else this author brings and what else is to come for these characters.

Many many thank yous to this author for giving us this book. I loved the first 2 but was a bit sad with then end of the 2nd. I had no idea this one was coming and I was so happy when I saw it. This had to be one of the best book 3’s of a trilogy yet, I’m thinking because I wanted it so much!

I was a bit concerned with the going back in time here and there through memories but found that it gave me a better understanding of who Mary Ann was. I loved the small town and this whole story felt so real, along with all the other feels you get from reading this last book in what is a wonderful series. I can’t wait to read it again back to back now that I have all three. 🙂

Jane Suen is an absolute must read, one click author for me, she continues to surprise me and you dont ever get predictable with her writing.

Thank you again Miss Suen for the rest of the story and I’ll be waiting patiently for what you come up with next!

Loved it!

What a mysterious, sometimes fun, sometimes scary story to read. Ghosts, jealous lovers, and best of friends.
This is not my first book by O’Malley because she writes such entrancing stories of mystery. Surprises at every turn.
Naomi is the female main character and has many jobs. Writer, mystery solver, friend, lover. She is strong willed and smart. Finding the ghost of Maggie, solving the mystery surrounding her life and death and dealing with Ryan, Nick and Bryce, leaves Naomi a little exhausted, crazy almost.
I really enjoyed reading about Naomi and Maggie and look forward to reading the next story in this trilogy.

Rule The Larussio Legacy (#1)Rule The Larussio Legacy by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Via Mari does a wonderful job telling the story in Rule (The Larussio Legacy Book 1) through the eyes of 4 individual people. Though some of them are connected, like Katarina is married to Chase and is a cousin to Giovanni, and Giovanni is interested in Serena, I think the author did a magnificent job being able to blend each person’s story to make one cohesive story. Most stories I read have two characters that may go back and forth telling the story, but I have not read many 4 main character stories and I am amazed she was able to keep everything straight and flowing so well. I definitely will be looking into more books by this author.

This story has an interesting blend of a mob family, which can have its own mysteries and suspense intertwined into it, and romance. I was thoroughly intrigued to read the workings of a mob family and thought the author did a great job showing the differences between the American family and the Italian family. Katarina and Chase balanced themselves quite well. The submissive/dominant partnership they shared was romantic, as Chase wanted nothing to do but protect his wife in any aspect of their life, but then steamy at times as well. Then the “relationship” between Gio and Serena kept me wanting more, as every time Serena would turn down Gio, which was unheard of for him, it just fueled his want for her even more. But the mystery behind why Serena hates his family so much makes for an interesting conflict throughout the story.

What a fantastic way to start a new series. Via Mari never ceases to amaze me with both her quality of writing and her development of characters. This book brings in characters from her previous books. While not a necessity, I would recommend reading Via Mari’s previous works to know more about the family and the dynamic behind it.
Rule is a romantic/suspense novel that follows the characters of Katarina and Chase. The love these two have for each other is tangible. You can feel how hot they are for each other from the pages of the book, (or kindle).
Katarina is caught with wanting to make her Italian father proud, while at the same time, honoring the wishes of her husband. She has to try to get her family to trust and agree that she knows what is best with the family business.
Chase will do everything in his power to ensure Katarina’s protection, even risking the wrath of her mob family.
The drama that ensures with both Katarina and Chase and then the families is fast paced, quick witted and passionate. You will need to read to find out what happens and you will not be disappointed.
