The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell: As Her Soul Remembers by Stuart Ledwith is an interesting historical chronicle focusing on the life of a puritan teenager abducted by the Mohawk Indians in the early 1700’s. We follow her emotive journey of strength and survival- learning much about her, and the time, as experienced by her.
This is an original story, told in an interesting way. Sarah had a difficult life- full of fear, danger, and the unfamiliar. But amongst it all is a story of strength and survival, of faith and hope, compassion and learning, and most of all- a story of love.
This book has a bit of a documentary feel to it- but also woven with real emotion. It is a thought-provoking read that had me appreciating the strength it took to survive under those circumstances.

This is my second book by M. Billiter. I read A Divided Mind first and couldn’t put it down. This book was the same for me. However, this book had so much more emotion than the first one. I honestly had a small cry break in this book. Beautifully worded and written. In the first book you get Branson and Tara’s POV. In this book you get both twins and I am at a loss for words at how exceptional this book turned out. It is sad and heart breaking, but mental illness does not get enough explanation in the world – this book shows the truth of it. Absolute must read.

The Divided Twin (The Divided Series #2) by M. Billiter was a twisted 5 star read.
I was pulled right in from the beginning and was done before I knew it.

Aaron and Branson are identical twins, one of them has been diagnosed with schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorder. Both twins are at different colleges trying to move forward. Branson hasn’t had any issues for quite some time. When things take a sad turn the boys end up going back home. Their mom has fallen sick with breast cancer.

Things get even more twisted when another personality makes itself known and has some dark and twisted plans. There are so many unexpected twists and turns. I will warn that there are some scenes that may cause triggers for some. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. There is bullying, mental illness, violence and so much more. The author has done a great job with her writing and you feel like you are right there with the characters. I had chills at times and my emotions were all over the place. You can read this as a stand alone but I suggest reading book one so that you are familiar with the characters. I look forward to reading more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

The Trouble With Paradise is the fourth book in The Madeline Dawkins Series by Cynthia Hamilton. Madeline Dawkins is a private investigator with her partner Mike Delaney. The Santa Barbara D.A. calls up Madeline about figuring out how two men died. Unfortunately, Madeline isn’t a stranger to troubled marriages. Not only does Madeline have to worry about solving these two cases, but now her ex-husband is trying to clear the name of an inmate. I loved the way the author was able to carry out multiple storylines and how well she was able to tie them together. You’ve got two men dead, one who may have been killed by his wife and the other who may have killed himself. Then there is the storyline of Madeline’s ex-husband trying to clear Lindsay Bartholomew’s name. This is the second story I’ve read in this series and I definitely preferred Madeline in this story. I look forward to seeing what Madeline is up to in the next book.

The Debt Collector by India Kells was a good read. Or well listen, because I listened to the audiobook version. I’m giving this book 4 stars for a couple of reasons. One reason, I feel like this book should come with a trigger warning for some of the content, and it didn’t. It only came with a warning for steam, being an 18+ adult novel. The steam was great, and it was very sexual! 5 stars on that, completely! My other issue (which isn’t the author’s fault at all) was the narrator of this audio book. I found myself laughing more often than not just because his voice was so awkward with the female voices, and the sex scenes in general. Other than those, this book was great! It did not disappoint at all.

I love historical fiction and was intrigued by the premise of this book. I was immediately pulled into the story and invested into finding out what happened to Sarah and her brothers. I’ve always been fascinated with this era and thought the author did a great job with the details to move the story along and engage the reader. All in all a fascinating story. I look forward to reading it again.

The Divided Twin by M. Billiter with Kyle Thomas is the second book in The Divided Series. Branson is now in college and new challenges are presenting themselves to his life. I highly recommend reading the first book in this series before this one. There is so much going on in their lives which adds to the challenges the family already faces. This book is emotional and heartbreaking at times. I did not want to put it down, yet I had to because of the emotions. I really enjoyed reading this book and will be looking for more from this author in the future.

A Divided Mind by M. Billiter is the first book in The Divided Series. The story is about a teen, Branson and his struggles with the realization that his friend isn’t real. This book hits on the hard subject of mental illness but in a well handled way. The story comes from multiple POVs, including Branson, his mother, his family, and those around him. I enjoyed the way the story was handled, unlike some books I have read in the past. This is a real issue which many deal with in different ways and it was treated thoughtfully and honestly. I really enjoyed this eye-opening book and look forward to reading more from M. Billiter in the future.

Madeline’s cases continue to get even more interesting as she’s attempting to solve two which seem to be at the same time, assisting two different widows in two very different scenarios. Madeline’s ex is out of prison and needs Madeline’s own partner to help clear his name. As the two cases coincide with one another, Madeline must figure out both simultaneously. I can’t help but love Mike and Madeline’s relationship even if it is a power duo saving the world but it would be better if they become official as a couple. Just me wishful thinking on where I hope their story goes because I’ve enjoyed every book’s installment so far so this one is no exception.

If you are into fantasy stories, you will like this one as well. I would classify this story as a dark fantasy romance story. The story is told from the Evil Witch. It wouldn’t be a good fantasy story without one. Lady Isra is the evil queen. She knows that she is the evilest queen in the land. She has made herself unavailable unless you were magical. Could you even imagine casting a spell so no one would take an interest in you? Along comes Astrid, a raven. He helps Lady Isra find her heart. The characters are complex and believable. I felt like I was right there with Lady Isra. Will Astrid turn Lady Isra’s heart into someone who is can be loved? Will Lady Isra let her guard down or will she punish Astrid for trying? I highly recommend this story to see what is awaiting Lady Isra.

This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from them. This is a music romance story that kept me turning pages to the end. This is a well developed story that has characters that are easily connectable and made the story easy to read. Music has been everything to the MC in this story so he became an agent. Now as an agent he gets to do everything he enjoys including finding new talent for his bands. This is where she walks into his life. As soon as he hears her voice he knows she is great for one of his bands and also maybe even for himself. What will fate have in store for these two? They have great chemistry and made me feel as if I was right there with them. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens with these two.

I enjoyed this sweet romance story. This is a newer author for me and I look forward to reading more from them. This is a well written story that has characters that will pop off the pages and into your heart. It is an engaging story where the characters made the story come alive and easy to read. This is Amanda and Kent’s story. Amanda goes after her dream job and thinks she will never look back again. Problem is that she left love behind. Now she finds herself missing him. Fate gives her one chance to fix things with Kent. Now she must remind Kent what they were like together. Will she be able to do it? Will they find their second chance together? This is a really great romance story that I read in one sitting. It is fast paced and kept me turning pages to the end. I highly recommend this book.

This reads just like a fairytale for adults. Not just the story itself since it is about a “wicked witch”, but also in the way it is written. It is a fun story with interesting characters you meet throughout the book. The story also keeps you guessing. There were a few things I did not see coming.

This was a fun, interesting supernatural/fairytale read and if you are a fan, this book is for you.

This is a shorter historical romance story that I enjoyed from beginning to end. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. This is a well written story that has characters that brought the story to life. I had no issues connecting with them. They were developed with a lot of heart and soul. This is Sebastain and Geneviere’s story. Sebastian has been looking forward to his vacation at the cottage until he gets there and it has already been rented to Geneviere which he cannot stand. After a swimming accident, he doesn’t know who he is so she conveniently tells him that they are married. Will he remember who he is? If he does, what will happen when he realizes that they are not married but yet she is someone he despises. I enjoyed their chemistry together. I also enjoyed watching them grow throughout the story which made the story easy to read. This was a great rainy afternoon read and I highly recommend it.

The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell: As Her Soul Remembers by Stuart Ledwith is an imaginative and well told story about a young girl in a time so different to what we know now. This book was detailed and complex and, for me, utterly riveting. The life and story that we get to know in this book was so different to anything I have experienced and yet at the same time I could picture it all as if I were right there with Sarah.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am absolutely blown away by his story telling. I thought the whole book was so well put together and it left me wanting more at the end. This is the kind of book that I could have kept on reading. This book was so emotional as well, as you imagine everything she had to go through, and all from such a young age. This book was beautifully written and one of my favourite reads of this year. I would highly recommend everyone pick this book up today.

The Divided Twin is book 2 in the divided series by M Billiter and Kyle Thomas.
It’s not essential but in my opinion you really need to read the first book to understand and appreciate the second book, so if you haven’t already I’d recommend starting with book 1.
The story picks back up with Branson and Aaron, twin brothers who are now in their final year of college.
In this book we also get to meet David. David brings with him more complexities, heartbreak, but also a greater understanding of what mental health looks like to different people. In the first book we saw how Bransons illness had an effect on those all around him, and this continues throughout this book too, but David brings a whole new set of trials and frustrations for everyone.
The twins mum, Tara, is diagnosed with cancer. The emotions throughout the book are very raw.

The characters in this book are very complex and believable. They suffer so much that you are keeping your fingers crossed that some happiness touches their lives.
I really enjoyed this second instalment. It’s a thought provoking read and you are left thinking about it long after you have finished reading.

A Divided Mind is a fantastic story. It’s described as a thriller but I’d say it’s more of an emotional fiction novel. Either way it’s very much worth a read.

The story revolves around Branson, but you get to hear from a few different points of view.
Branson is struggling with different issues. He hears voices, he doesn’t know if his friends are really there, he suffers black outs and then carries the weight of this around on his young shoulders.
I really enjoyed the different points of view, obviously Branson is the main character, but you get to see how mental health doesn’t just affect the person who is actually ill, it has a ripple effect and touches everyone in the family and of course everyone copes in different ways.
The story is really well written and you really get to experience what Branson is going through. There are a few surprises throughout the story and it really had me hooked from the start.

I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming romance by Tammy Mannersly and the story took me to sunny Queensland where the novel is set. In a little town called Montville, on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, art teacher and owner of Unique Art Boutique, Erica Townsend has had one too many failed relationships and so has sworn off love. Meanwhile the women of the town are all gossiping about the very handsome new doctor, Dr. Matthew Garrick. It’s not until Erica has an injuring which results in her visiting Dr Garrick that the two meet and they both feel the instant chemistry and attraction between them. However, Erica remains wary but Matt is determined to win Erica over and prove that if she takes a risk on him and on love, then they could both be very happy together. Unfortunately Matt has a secret admirer who gets increasingly more dangerous the more time Erica and Matt spend together. This was a real feel good novel with enough drama in the storyline to keep me turning the pages and wonderful characters that I felt invested in. I loved Matt and Erica and was totally immersed in their romance and was cheering them on to their happy ever after.

This is the first book I’ve read by Patterson. As the second book in the Rebecca Steele Series it continues to follow the main character on her journey. This is a page turner and will get you hooked.

Rebecca, aka Becky, is a country singer. She keeps a friend at arms length, but things start to bring them closer. An accident causes her to lose her memories of her past. What happens when the past shows up? The quote I choose for Becky is: Let’s take Cassidy shopping and get her some new clothes to wear to the rodeo. Would she like to shop with us?”

Adam, aka Chance, is a rodeo performer. He’s been smitten with Becky since he came to town. He didn’t realize that four years later would bring them together. Can he handle Becky’s past? Can she handle his past? The quote I choose for Chance is: “You are one in a million, Becky Steele and I love you.”

I highly recommend this book for a romantic at heart. It kept me interested from beginning to end. I had a hard time putting it down and didn’t want it to end.

Shattered: A Logan McKenna Mystery #1 (The Logan McKenna Series) By Valerie Davisson

This is the first book I’ve read by Mrs. Davisson. She did a wonderful job putting the book together. The characters are so life-like. It was like a movie playing in my mind.

Logan McKenna is a wonderful character and I’m glad I got to meet her. Her husband passed away, her daughter is off on an adventure, and she just bought a home. Things are looking up until one bad day.

Logan finds that someone has died and she takes it into her own hands to clear a friend’s name. Things don’t make sense and it confuses her to no end. What happens when the person who killed Elizabeth comes to Logan’s? The quote I choose for Logan is: “So, why did Thomas give Elizabeth $ 8,000? Had she found out about all this somehow?”

I highly recommend this book. It’s got mystery and a splash of romance. Valerie has done one fantastic job. I can’t wait for the next book.

She has pretty much lived a dream life because she was born into the Ravelli family and she works in their family’s high fashion corporation but she feels like everything she does is wrong or makes everyone upset. So when she has a one night stand with a hot guy she meets she never expects the repercussions that occur. Matt Walker is a professional Hockey player who has had bad luck in love. One night after his longtime girlfriend cheats on him he meets Emilia out and they hook up. Expecting to never see her again when he sees by some craziness she is his new boss he is shocked to say the least and when she delivers news to him that turns his world upside down he can’t believe it. Will they be able to work together and will they be able to work out their relationship so that they can both be happy? Read Center of Gravity to find out!

I really enjoyed this crime thriller. It is the first book in the Logan Mckenna series. The story takes a bit of time to get into with all the different characters and how the plot jumps from one place and time to another but it is definately worth sticking with it as the story is a real gripping tale.

Logan has lost everything, since her husband death she moves and closes down their business. She is helping out her friends Thomas and Lisa on their booth at a festival when she notices the glassblowers. The festival runs smoothly until a dead body turns up and the question is who has done it.

When her friend Thomas is suspected she has to work hard to find out who the killer is and if they are planning to strike again.

Its full of twists and turns that keep you guessing right to the end.

The two find themselves with two similar cases and Madeline’s ex shows up again in this story. All in all I like this book. It answers more questions left after the last book and has a really good ending. You will enjoy reading this book and enjoy how these characters develop.

The Slaughter of Leith Hall by Lexie Conyngham. I loved this book. It’s a historical mystery set in 18th Century Scotland. It’s during a time where the Jacobites are still reeling from their loss of Culloden. Charlie Rob is not very worldly having never traveled outside of Scotland. John Leith of Leith Hall takes a liking to Charlie and sets out to make him more worldly. When Charlie goes with John to Aberdeen he is amazed and a little scared. They are put in situations Charlie is sure they won’t survive and when a murder is committed will they be able to safely find the killer. Will John and Charlie find the killer before its too late? I loved this story and I felt like I was in 18th Century Scotland trying to solve a murder.

I loved reading the book Better Than Goodbye (Venture Book 1) by Kinney Scott. It is a story that is romantic and had me hooked from the start. I loved reading about the characters of Amanda and Kent. Amanda is a woman who by taking a dream job in California lost the one man that had stolen her heart. When situations align and they are one more together in the same town will they find themselves in each other’s arms again or will they end up saying goodbye for a second time? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I grew to care about what happens to Amanda and Kent with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to find happiness. The story has romantic moments that heat the pages. The author does a wonderful job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive. There are additional characters that I also enjoyed reading about such as Amanda’s roommate. Don’t miss out on a story that will have you believing in second chances and true love. It is a book that you won’t want to put down until you have read the final page. I highly recommend it.

When you have failed at everything you have been given, can moving half way around the world to manage a NHL team with no knowledge of sports manager or anything amount hockey this could be a recipe for disaster.

Emma is part of a big conglomerate fashion company, but project she has been put in charge of has basically failed miserably. So she is determined to make this a success, people look at her and see the rich kid from a wealthy family but she has a secret she is not prepared to share with anyone.

Matt is a highly trained athlete who wants to do well for his team, but when an italian bombshell walks into the arena will he be able to focus on his career or will love prevail, but once Emma reveals her secret will he be able to forgive her.

I loved this story, the characters chemistry jumped off the page and the story flowed and ebbed into a beautiful story. I loved Emma’s character although at first I thought that she may of had a spoilt brat complex but the way he insurities and emotion came through and I felt like a friend. I was drawn to Matt also after his disastrous love life and you heart just sinks until he meets the beautiful blonde woman for a night of passion as you feel the chemistry between them and for him to get his happily ever after is brilliant.

This is the first book I have read by this author and although this is classed as the second book in the Ice Tigers you can read this as a stand alone book. I would recommend this book and if you’re looking for a great happily ever after story this is it, great holiday read also.

Center of Gravity by Isabella Cassazza is book two of Ice Tigers Hockey Romance. This book is a friends to lovers sports romance and is also a standalone so it can be read in any order.

Emilia loves under her grandfather’s thumb and while everything looks perfect from the outside, she’s a Ravelli after all, not everything is always as it seems. Now she’s being sent to Boston to manage a hockey team after being less than successful in other areas of the family business. Emilia will need to keep up appearances even though her life is about to change drastically. Matt has never faced betrayal the way he is now. It feels like he’s lost everything. The only thing left for him is the chance to win the cup. Then he meets the new team owner. Will these two be able to find themselves again? Will they lean on each other to make up for all they’ve lost?

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I was not disappointed. The book flowed so well, the ending came much quicker than I wanted it too. I need to go back and read book one now! These characters are great! I felt for Emilia. You could tell she was trying so hard but nothing really seemed to please her grandfather. Matt felt hopeless but that didn’t keep him from wishing and maybe even dreaming a little. I couldn’t get enough!

You cannot help but get divulged in a book like this. The whole thing has your heart racing chapter after chapter! I’m sorry to get so excited but this doctor is a true heroine! She is that one you get caught up in and knows she’s the “it” (excuse my French) and for a great cause but this book goes deeper!
As the doctor means well to save the girls, she’s caught up in a trap of manipulation at every turn: She knows better with all her fancy education but lust keeps screaming her name and her body is betraying her mind. The truth is behind the savagery she has to go through for answers. Is she really ready to risk it all? The choice is up to the doctor and her quest for answers.
This book is filled with everything I love: A mystery, sexual chemistry, lust, desire, and suspense. I was all in reading this one! I couldn’t help it — I highly recommend it as India Kells is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Anything I see with her name, I can’t put down and this book was absolutely no exception. So, pick up your copy and you won’t be disappointed.
