This book is one of the grittiest I’ve read in awhile. I didn’t enjoy how graphic Kristina’s life was prior to meeting Trey but at least she kept a decent head on her shoulders to move away from all of the pain she endured. I love the way they not only loved one another but sought out to heal one another’s wounds after a worse past that could’ve taken the both of them down but in different ways. This is a sweet book about resilience, determination and the sweetest love that one can experience. We have to remember the characters are also human but as we all are, they are also flawed but in the best ways possible.

The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell: As her Soul Remembers is a fast paced short story that will have you on the edge of your seat while you’re trying to figure out what is going to happen next. I was pulled in from the beginning and couldn’t stop till the end. This is my first read by this author and holy cow my emotions were all over the place . Get ready to follow Sarah on her journey afterward being abducted. I don’t want to give to much away. I highly recommend this book.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and while this had some things I didn’t care for, in looking forward to the rest of the series. Im a details person, I like to know a bit about where aa character is in a book but I felt, personally, there was a bit too much detail in this book. And I’m not a huge fan of back and forth in time, but again personal preference. Otherwise I enjoyed this story, and it does pick up after a bit. I will say the details I enjoyed was we knew our characters, and pretty well too. Logan felt like a real, normal person and I love that when I can feel that with a character. So in all, a good book, with a mystery woven into it.

Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7) by Shandi Boyes was a great 5 star read. I love a good read and this story pulled me right in, the author pushes the boundaries on the topic and grittiness.
This is Trey and Kristina’s (Duchess) story. Trey works for Nikolai who we met in a previous book. Trey is very protective and when he meets Kristina he’s pulled right in by her. There was something about her eyes, something familiar. Kristina was forced into sex-trafficking the last six years and I would consider her a survivor. Trey also has some things from his past that have made him the man he is today.
Can these two put each other back together again?
Overall I really enjoyed this read. My emotions were all over the place, we get so much in one book. I really liked these two characters and the secondary characters added a great element to the story. I will warn that some things in this book may cause triggers for some. I look forward to reading more from this series and author. I love an author who isn’t afraid to give you dark, gritty and so much more. Shattered is the first book in Valerie Davisson’s Logan McKenna series that introduces us to … well… Logan McKenna who has to rebuild her life after a tragedy that threw everything she knew about herself and her life up in the air. I think at times she feels like there is nothing there for her to fall back onto, she has to not only get a new place to live but also a new career. It was my first read by the writer and as I like a good thriller like most of us and I have been curious about Native Americans and their art then I decided to pick up a copy. The writer’s style as such was very reader friendly and it was surprising that the story didn’t pull me in as I would have expected. At times I did struggle with what time we were in and whether it was a flashback or present or … also I found it challenging to connect with Logan and the other characters. I also felt at times that the story slowed down too much and then got a jump on and rushed. This IS the first book of the series and I am open to give it another try and go and read the second book as I liked that Logan was different from other ‘investigators’ I have met. She is not young or naïve, she has learnt from the challenges the life has thrown at her and she has had to step outside of her sheltered past. I also wonder whether it was my expectations that got the best of me and I should have simply breathed in and the breathed out and gone with the flow …

This one is a struggle for me. The story has too much filler and background information. Which made it seem slow. I kept waiting and waiting for something to happen and it didn’t until about half way through the story. Logan seems like a good character but she doesn’t seem like a person who would try to solve this murder. It was interesting learning about the glassblowing and knife making.
This has some Flashbacks which I am not a fan of. Too much back and forth causes the reader(me) to become displaced and can lose interest. Sadly this story just didn’t work for me.

The Debt Collector (An Underground Bad Boys Romance) by India Kells 4 Stars!!!!
I will admit that this isn’t my go to genre but I do like to try out new types of books. I have to admit that I did find this book quite enjoyable. The author does a great job with handling the subject matter within the book. I found that I was quite drawn into this book as the drama unfolded in it. I found that hearing the audio book added even more. The narrator really has a great amount of enthusiasm and makes a great addition.
The emotions that Tessa went through and the drama I felt as though I was going through it vicariously through the character. I found that I started to route for Locke the more the book progressed. Sometimes the bad boy isn’t such a bad boy at all and they are the ones that save the damsel in distress. I really found the author’s writing style and will definitely read more from her in the future.

Center of Gravity is an excellent stand alone sports romance. Emilia is stereotyped as being the Italian princess, but she has been ruled by her grandfather for most of her adult life. Matt is a focused and determined hockey player with no room for distractions in his life. When Emilia’s grandfather buys Matt’s beloved hockey team and puts her in charge it is quickly apparent that they two of them have some unfinished business together (don’t want to say too much as it may spoil the story line.) I really enjoyed this book, I liked the dynamic between the two main characters and the fact that they were (mostly) always honest with each other. I also liked the supporting characters, which makes me want to go back and read the first book in the series. Highly recommend to fans of the sports romance genre.

I loved reading the book Flicker to Fire (Crimson Sash Book 3) by Amanda Marin. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and I was hooked. I have loved reading this series since the first book. I love the characters of Neve Hall and Micah Ward. They are both brave, strong, and have a fierce determination that the Nation’s human rights abuses do not go unpunished. Neve and Micah are characters that you can’t help but root for them to succeed against the Nation. They stand up for those who seek freedom and escape. They also have a love for one another that is undeniable. What does the future hold for Neve, Micah, and the New Republic? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. It has both heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I found my emotions going up and down the entire time that I was reading the book. I enjoyed reading about the additional characters that each have their part to play in the story. The author does a wonderful job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive. I felt like I was right there with them. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining story that I didn’t want to put down until I had read the final page. I highly recommend reading it. It is the third book in a series and to fully understand all that transpires it is best to read the stories in order.

Her Blackened Soul is the first book in the Blackened series.
I will be honest; I struggled a bit with this book. I LOVE the premise of the story. It has a lot of potential. I gave the book four starts for creativity and originality. What I had a difficult time with were the parts of it that were slow-moving. I felt like the book didn’t have a steady flow to it.
Her Blackened Soul is written in fairytale tale style, but from the villain’s angle. I am a fan of dark fantasy so I enjoyed that aspect of the story. Overall, I feel like this book could be fabulous with a little bit of added depth and removal of some of the more repetitive parts (i.e. the constant reminder of Isra’s evilness).
Even though I had a challenge with this book, I’ll probably check out book two to see if the writing has progressed. It may be that this book, because it is the first in the series, is a little bit rougher and things will polish up as it goes forward.

YES! What a brilliant read to have read to introduce me to this author. Tammy Mannersly has created a read that really is captivating from the very beginning till the end! This is a real feel-good easy romance read that transported me into these characters world and took me along on their journey. This author has an incredible way with words that captures the readers attention from the very beginning and leaving you wanting more. Erica & Matt’s story is one that will resonate with others, and have you hoping that these two characters will get the HEA they deserve, but will their journey together be plain sailing or will there be obstacles in the way? I highly recommend this read and can’t wait to read more from this author!

Flicker to Fire is the third book in the Crimson Sash series by Amanda Marin. It is an original futuristic, dystopian, YA fantasy- with sci-fi elements, action, adventure, drama, intrigue, friendship, romance, politics, violence, social justice messages, human rights issues, emotion, and lots more. This book follows on from the first two, with a bridging storyline and many recurring characters- so I really recommend reading the first two books before starting on this one, to get the best possible reading experience of this story. I have followed the series from the beginning and have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book to continue the adventure. So much has happened along the course of these three books- so I couldn’t help but get caught up in everything that transpired here and what the characters were going through. Amanda Marin certainly knows how to spin a riveting tale and held me enthralled the whole way through. I don’t want to reveal any of the plot, past or present- just in case you haven’t read any of the books yet, as I really don’t want to give anything away that may spoil the story for you- except to say that if you love dystopian, YA, or future fantasy- then you probably won’t want to miss out on reading this book/series. I wonder what Ms. Marin has planned for us next?

Breaking Traditions. The Shifter And The Mage. By Madilynn Dale.
A lovely wholesome story. Breaking Traditions is about two people (A Shifter and a Mage) from different walks of life, who society doesn’t want together, with a little bit of magic thrown into the mix., however they have a different perspective. I think the characters are very relatable and people you feel like you would enjoy being around in real life. Madilynn has done a fantastic job with this book I look forward to reading more of her work.

This is book 2 in the Rebecca Steele series. It follows on with Becky’s story and her career. I didn’t read the first book but this book was easy to get into and follow that I didn’t feel I missed anything by not reading the first book.
Its a lovely romance set in Nashville. The landscapes of country music and working and living on a ranch really bring the characters and their lives to life. The characters are really likeable and you cant help wanting them to succeed.

This is the first book I have read by Ms. Cassazza,but definitely won’t be the last. This book can be read as a standalone, but the writing was wonderful and I look forward to reading the first book. Matt and Emilia have fantastic chemistry, but need help on relationship and trust issues. Hockey romances are one of my favorite genres, and this book is the best I have read this year. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Cassazza.

Center of Gravity is the 2nd of 3 books in the Ice Tigers Hockey Romance series by Isabella Cassazza. It is the first I have read, but it can be enjoyed as a stand alone novel. I really loved it, and plan to go back and read book 1 next, then the 3rd book. The story is a romance, but it is clean, with only a couple scenes approaching the pg 13 range. The characters were wonderful, even though they both annoyed me at times. It is mostly told from Emilia’s point of view, but Matt had some chapters as well. I like books written so we can understand the feelings of both main characters. Both Matt and Emilia were overly stubborn, but I loved that they put their differences aside and quickly decided to co-parent. Emilia is a strong female lead character, and while Matt is stubborn as can be, he is also a really great guy. There are a lot of supporting characters that I bet will get their own stories, and I look forward to that. I recommend this book and will definitely read more.

Drawn to Him is a sweet small town contemporary romance by Tammy Mannersly– and is my favourite of her books, so far. The story is quite captivating, with emotion, and some danger and drama thrown in which keep me avidly reading. The story is interesting and entertaining, it has a great pace, and flows really well. The characters are really well developed and so easy to like. I connected with them right away. Erica and Matt were so great together- just loved them.

The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell by Stuart Ledwith is a compelling read that will stay with you long after you have read it. Be sure to have tissues at hand because it will wreck you emotionally. It is fast paced and a short read, but it definitely packs a punch. The story is about a young woman who has a harrowing and gruelling time after her abduction in the early 1700’s and captivity by Indians. She was also sold on and lived to tell her tale of a life she never dreamed about. The way Stuart tells her story you can feel everything that she goes through as if you were the one experiencing it.
It is just like the saying, sometimes “the truth is stranger than fiction”. Not a story to be missed.

The Slaughter of Leith Hall by Lexie Conyngham is an interesting historical murder mystery set in early Scotland and I love Scotland and its history having visited there several times. And I can still remember the feel of Culloden and the resting place of many and this brought it all back. Historical fiction is not always my thing, but I occasionally don’t mind reading them. The story was a bit slow to start with and I found it hard at times to settle in but once I did finally did, I enjoyed the mystery and suspense that the story brings. Lexie is very detailed in her writing, so it was easy to imagine the world she has created. If you love a good mystery and a bit of history, then The Slaughter of Leith Hall is one to grab and read.

Her Blackened Soul (The Blackened) by Isra Sravenheart is about a villainess who is a witch and very, very dark witch at that. It is a dark fairytaleish type story even as dark as the Grimm brothers. Not that this bothers me, I like dark and twisted sometimes but only if it is done right. For me the characters didn’t quite have the depth and growth I would have liked, and I found the constant reminder that our villainess was bad and had a dark soul a bit too much. I also found the story to be slow and found myself wandering whilst trying to stay focused. Just because it didn’t live up to my expectations, I have high standards, does not mean it will not for others, so please give it a go as it is an original concept.

Aaron and Branson are Identical twins. They will win you over on page one, and have you riding that rollercoaster of terror. You will meet David, and follow his journal. I can’t help but feel for these men. Both doing so much for an education, working and caring for their family. So after you read about David, is he the stone that breaks the twins up? Or is he the one to bring these troubled men together. There will be no spoilers from me. As you must read it to believe it…Don’t forget to read book 1 first. It will open book 2 and that is where you will continue.
M. Billiter and Kyle Thomas have worked on this story. M. Billiter again brings a riveting story on mental disease and PTSD. I love the characters and the strength they bring forward..The struggle is real, and this family will fight the fight. This close loving family works through the monsters in this story. Please feel free to find a quiet place to read and enjoy. Make sure to have tissue and chocolate close by. Way to go M. Billiter and Kyle Thomas (Who is new to me) This story is great. This is my first book by M. Billiter and Kyle Thomas. I am a fan of the books that address mental illness and this one did not disappoint. I loved this book and honestly couldn’t stop reading all day! I can’t even fully explain my emotion with this book. As a mother I was bawling. As a best friend with someone who has a mental illness disorder I was gutted and felt every single word printed like a stab wound. It was beautifully written and thought out brilliantly. I absolutely recommend this book. I can’t wait for book two, I’m headed there now!

This is the second book in this series, I enjoyed it just as much as the first. If you haven’t read it then I recommend you do, you will enjoy it. I had no problems connecting with the characters as they brought the story to life. This is Gianna and Tyler’s story. Tyler is a new winery owner and he is determined to make his launch a success. Gianna works for the company he has hired to help with marketing. The problem comes in when they do not agree on the plan. Will they agree on more than just a new plan together? I enjoyed how their chemistry was great and how it made the story easy to read. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Her Blackened Soul by Isra Sravenheart was a good book, but not great to me. I expected much more from reading the synopsis, and I was just a little disappointed in what I got. It wasn’t a bad book to read, it was just very slow to me building the story up, and it read so much like an old fairytale, but it wasn’t as short as a fairytale, so it just made it seem that much more drawn out. The characters were great and it had a great storyline and plot, it just wasn’t what I expected going in to read and I guess that just threw me off a little bit. I did enjoy reading this book however, and I do want to read more from this author in the future.

I enjoyed this story. This is my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more from her. This is a well written story that has developed details that made the story feel real. I had no problems connecting with the characters as they brought the story to life. I enjoyed being pulled into the story right from the beginning. This is a story about Joe who is a Marine. His teammate received a letter and shortly after reading the letter commits sucide. After getting hurt, he is sent home. What will happen when he runs into the person who wrote the letter? He decides to hurt them as much as he is angry about his friend. But will his plan backfire on him? He makes such a great character and is my favorite in the story. He made the story for me despite the revenge and the way he plans to get it. A great story that I highly recommend.
