My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in Valerie Davisson’s new, ‘The Logan McKenna Series’, and features recently widowed Logan McKenna. Following her husbands death, the loss of their company, and with her grown up daughter living away Logan is feeling as though her life is falling apart. Making a dramatic decision, Logan decides to moves away, ready to start life again. Logan joins friends Thomas and Lisa and helps them out on their booth at an arts festival, where she enjoys looking round all the arts and craft booths. Then one of the young glass blowers is murdered and her best friend Thomas is accused of the crime. Thomas Delgado, a Native American artist, is accused of the brutal murder and so Logan readily comes to his defence, but unhelpfully Thomas is refusing to defend himself. Logan decides to dig deeper in the hope of clearing her friends name but she soon discovers that the world of glassblowing is dangerous. Whilst still reeling with the loss and major changes in her own life, Logan discovers more and more secrets in her quest to clear Thomas name, meanwhile the real killer is still out there.
This was a page turner of a novel, a real crime, thriller, murder mystery, which had me hooked from the start. The storyline moves along at a good pace and keeps you guessing. I found the main character, Logan McKenna a very likeable and relatable, independent women who held the storyline together well. I look forward to further novels in this series.
