Grosse Pointe follows an Irishman by the name of Brek as he risks life and limb to be reunited with the love of his life, facing everything from a difficult voyage to America to the pitfalls of crossing members of the mafia. Do the lovers end up together at last, against all odds? You’ll have to read to find out.

I’ve always been a fan of the ‘thrill of the chase,’ whether it is of the assassin or romantic variety. I adore the fact that the story incorporates a bit of both. I also find it so heartwarming to see just how far someone will go for love. However, one of my favorite aspects of the book is the use of culturally and historically appropriate language, including various insults and phrases in Brek’s mother tongue of Gaelic.

This book has a bit of something for everyone, but if you belong to the group of folks that enjoys a good love story with incredibly detailed fighting scenes, I especially recommend it for you.
