Another great book in this series and one that I really enjoyed. I think that the author has a great imagination and that really comes across in her stories, they are so creative and really well written. This book picks up with Dahlia and after everything that happened in the previous story I was looking forward to reading more. I would definitely recommend reading the books in order. Dahlia has definitely been on a journey over these books and it’s been exciting following her story along with the other characters. This is a highly recommended series and book – I am definitely looking forward to more.

If you’re looking for a book to bring on those tears then look no further! Learning to Live is an emotional read that I loved from beginning to end. The way in which the author had written it I could tell she had really put her heart and soul into these characters lives, journey and story. Ciera was probably one of the strongest female characters I have read about in a long time, after everything she went through in the story I really admired her strength. I really enjoyed reading about her story and Topher as well. This is definitely an emotional read and one that had me thinking about it long after I had finished. I highly recommend it to others and I look forward to reading more from Ms Adams again in the future.

Dahlia Nite is back in the next installment of this series and yet again, she has another crime to solve, but this time she has to overcome her own personal barriers as well as professional ones, although having Casey Evans around to talk to us helpful and her partner Detective Creed is as much of a thorn in her side as ever, but they all make a good team. This time, Dahlia is on one of her nighttime forays into the darkness and the seedier part of town, she is interrupted by a familiar scent, when she follows it she finds a young women who doesn’t belong there covered in blisters and peeling skin, but there is nothing she can do to help her when she combusts right before her eyes, but when the same thing happens at the gym the next day after her a d Casey have been sparring, there aren’t just blisters this time, the woman in question is mutating and as Dahlia is trying to help her, she combusts again, but this time it is in the middle of the street where everyone can see.
When Detective Creed arrives on the scene, he is frustrated and also slightly annoyed that is on Dahlia’s doorstep again, but not surprised either, however when he learns it is another spontaneous combustion case, he is not happy either, but at when it is revealed that Casey knows this woman, they start on tracking her movements for the last few days to see where she may have contracted whatever caused her death and to see if it uncovers any other victims. A few days later, some calls have come in about someone attacking their girlfriend in a club and then going on a violent rampage around the city, but when Dahlia and Creed finally chase the person down, it is clear that it is another victim, but this one is not easily put down and when Dahlia has chased him to the top of a building under construction, Creed is right on her heels, but she cannot get any information from him apart from one word before he falls to his death in a fiery ball.
Dahlia has no further ideas on what is causing the outbreak, but when a friend screams for help when he starts to report a crime, she is shocked to hear that he stole and came into contact with some of whatever was causing the problem, so as she sets off for another late night hunt, she runs into an old enemy, but she does find a name and a possible connection, however nothing goes as smoothly as planned, but as the bodies keep appearing and the mystery deepens, will Dahlia be able to keep a lid on what is happening and find out who is behind it, or will the city be swarmed by these rage fueled and mutated humans and in some cases, can they even still be called humans? This is another action packed thriller with a whirlwind of twists and turns throughout which will leave you guessing until the very end.
What happens when your world falls apart with a simple act or then again does it?
Braelynn is working her dream job, although she is not prepared to go just as far as their senior partner Wexler as he bent the rules in the past, she is looking forward to them announcing the new partner in the business and she is top of the list. But, she is hiding a secret that if found out she could loss everything she has worked for but the more it goes on the more she does not want to keep it a secret anymore.
Seth is part of the biggest Mafia family and has certain rules which he has to follow, but when he is forced into situation where he requires a good lawyer in, she walks and oh my he can’t take his hands off her. Until one night their relationship shifts a gear were, he would do anything for this woman. Even go against his family!!!
OMG, this was brilliant I can’t not explain how engrossed I got within the story, well I read it in one sitting and it took me a few hours. The utter brilliance of the story was well written and did not seem to pad out the action. The two characters was so perfect for each other as she was sweet with a hint of danger and Seth well HOT is all it can say. The secondary characters were riveting and I had to check out the story of Dale as there is a brilliant excerpt at the back of this book and was gutted its not out you. Oh how you tease. This definitely a worthy read and I very rarely give out five stars but this book had me at the first word till the very last teasing sentence. As this is new authors, I have been busily trying to get my hands on more so. Thank you for bringing me into a new world.

Price of a Rose is a beautifully written retelling of Beauty and Beast This was one of my favorites growing up and this author as yet again outdone themselves. I’m a huge fan of historical romance and Fairytale so this is a perfect fit. Find out what happens when a card games is lost and daughter’s are traded away for a rose to the local Beast(recluse). I highly recommend reading this book there’s some twists but definitely worth the read. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Dahlia Nite is a woman who moves around a lot ever since she escaped from her home and her execution, all because she paused while carrying out her duty when she was startled by something she couldn’t easily explain, so she ran in the middle of the night leaving everything and everyone she knew behind and escaped to the human realm, but her past has caught up with her now she has moved back to Sentinel City and not just when she is reliving her pain and fear in her dreams whenever she goes to sleep. When she uncovers a nest of otherworldly creatures who have been killing the humans in the city she currently calls home, she has no choice but to exterminate them, although it isn’t easy and she has to hide her true form while doing it, she completes her mission, but while working out how the creatures made it there, it is what they say which troubles her more, this and the fact that these particular creatures normally live alone, but here there were five of them, just another thing to add onto her list of strange things happening in Sentinel City.
The next day she is contacted by her contractor saying that there has been a murder, but that it is so unusual in the way it was commited that she is being called in to help and so keep the humans from finding out what truly happened there, but when she arrives at the scene, she is shown in by a police officer who looks like he doubts what he is seeing as she doesn’t look old enough to have experience of dealing with these types of investigations. The brutality of the murders is the first thing she notices and the manner in which they were killed is devastatingly familiar and that is before she has even properly looked at the bodies, but she knows exactly what did this, the thing she needs to find out now is why this family is dead. When she meets the captain of the police force there, she learns that she is being assigned a partner to investigate with, but after she requests to be alone with the scene, she confirms her original suspicions, even though she doesn’t want to. Later on in the day, she goes to a favourite haunt to have a drink and think about what she had found out that day, however, she senses someone nearby who could be involved and gives chase, however, when she gets close to them, they attack and this leads to more bodies like the ones at the house, but she loses sight of the person when they escape out of the back of the building.
Things start to get more complicated after she meets her new partner and that is when she realises that this one is going to become a thorn in her side, especially when the bodies start to pile up and any leads she has are either dead ends or things she can’t explain to the other officers on the team, she knows she is running out of time to figure it all out, but that doesn’t make it any easier on her. Will Dahlia be able to figure out who is killing these people and why while also covering it all up at the same time, or will the cat get out of the bag and reveal everything she has been trying to hide? This action packed urban fantasy will leave you wanting more as you are pulled in all the same directions as Dahlia as you try to figure things out with her.
Hungry Business: A Short Story by Maria DeBlassie 4 Stars
I don’t usually like books about the zombie apocalypse but seeing as this was a short story, I took the plunge. I’m just fifteen pages, the author managed to write a story that was detailed and original. It is creepy and macabre. The story shows the desperation of today’s dating scene using zombies as a metaphor. It was clever and well written. The main character wants to overcome her loneliness by trying to find “ the one”. Yet after several failed attempts and one close call with the undead, she deems it just not worth it. Ending the story with a chance to expand was a good choice by the author. This is a quick read that can be read over a cup of coffee.

Can Dreams Come True? is the first book in The Cecily Taylor series by Krysten Lindsay Hager. It is a cute, sweet, YA, coming of age story- about friendship, crushes, first love, teenage angst, jealousy, and following your dreams. This is my first read from Ms. Hager, so I was interested to see what this was all about. It is definitely a YA story- as it is quite sweet and a little ‘fluffy’. As I have grown older, I have found that I like my stories a little ‘meatier’- but still enjoy exploring YA stories as they are usually fairly light and easy to read and make great ‘palate cleansers’. This is definitely the case here- a lovely story with just enough angst and drama to keep things interesting and well suited for the younger reader. I am interested to see what happens in the next instalment- following Cecily and Andrew on to the next stage of their relationship with “In Over Her Head: Lights, Camera, Anxiety”(Book #2).

A Hole (Alpha Bet Guys Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander
Book one in the series and I’m ready to start the second since I know it will be as good as the first. I loved this book! I laughed more times than I expected and I then needed to take a break from reading to refocus.
Ace was amazingly charming and seemed a bit bashful while trying to charm Ella. His friends were entertaining and I’m looking forward to reading the stories about how each one of these boys falls.
I love how confident Ella’s was for being a curvy woman I know there are a lot of curvy women out there with an amazing amount of confidence, but I’m not one of them. I could only dream of having Ella’s confidence.
I have been fortunate enough to read several books by Ms. Alexander and she hasn’t disappointed me yet.

From the description I knew I would love it. Seeing Sonya Jesus involved I knew it would be captivating. Not. Disappointed. At. All. This dark suspense filled romance was everything I didn’t know I was looking for. It moved quickly and had plenty of punch. I was so captivated I got to the end without realizing it was there. Shaw and Seth – wow. Loved this book and look forward to reading more from this dynamic writing duo.

The Liminal Space by T. S. Simons is the second book in the Antiodes series. I highly recommend you read the first book, you will be glad you took the time. I enjoyed learning how Cam thought about life and how important family is. This post apocalyptic book really makes you consider if your life would be different if you were able to start over. Would your life really change or would you make similar mistakes you made in your current life? I’m not sure I could answer that but it sure makes you wonder. I really enjoyed this book, I’d say even more than the first.

A Hole by Phoebe Alexander is the first in the Alpha Bet Series. It’s a novella length rom com type. Ace & Ella’s story is different when it comes to romance. Ace is a comedian, Ella a bank teller. I gave this novella three stars because it was hard for me to get into it. Phoebe Alexander is a wonderful and talented writer, but for some reason this novella didn’t grab my attention the way her other novels have. A Hole is hilarious and funny but can be series when needs to be.

I really enjoyed this entertaining romantic comedy featuring a city boy and a country girl who fall in love in ten days during a camping trip. Best selling novelist Alexander Jones is struggling with writing his second book and so his best friend Luke convinces him to take a trekking and survival boot camp in the wilderness to cure him of his writers block. The only problem is he hates the countryside and camping. Both Luke and his childhood friend Penny Foster take Alex to the mountains where they camped as children. Alex is completely out of his element almost straightaway but with his friends help he manages ten days. However, a surprising outcome of the trip is that within that ten days Alex has fallen in love with Penny, but is unsure how she feels or what Luke will think when he finds out.
This lighthearted and fun romance had me laughing out loud. The characters are all very realistic and relatable and the chemistry between Alex and Penny really comes across in the narrative. I liked how the book is written solely from Alex’s point of view which gives us a different perspective from the usual female viewpoint in most romance novels. I particularly liked Alex’s witty and sarcastic inner voice and found Alex to be an unusual but very likeable male lead, and was really cheering him on hoping he would get his girl, Penny. The author made the setting along with the camping and survivalist elements really come alive through her descriptive narrative which made me feel immersed in the story, and as though I was camping with them. An engaging and heartwarming read which I read in one sitting as once I started reading I could not put the book down. A great read for some much needed escapism during the continuing lockdown here in the UK.

I loved this book. I have read books by both these two authors, this one is my favorite from both. Their writing skills and attention to details not only made the story feel realistic but also made the story engaging and just a great story. This is a well developed story about Braelynn who is an attorney but also a woman who now finds herself on the other side of the law. What will happen when she has to turn to a former client, a bad boy and she is in love with to boot. As she learns there are consequences to everything you do, she finds herself involved with the Mafia and they are not happy about it. What happens next is for you to read. What will fate have in store for her and this bad boy? Will she find her way out of trouble? I really enjoyed these characters. They are unique and give life to the story. They are strong and Cassie is my favorite and what she brings to the story is awesome. I highly recommend this book and these authors.

Sons of Sindicato (Sons of Sindicato ) by Cam Johns & Sonya Jesus. This is a novella about a Crime family and their attorney. It is so very good and even though it is short it makes you feel like you have read a 400 page novel. The characters are amazing. Its the story of Braelynn Shaw who is the attorney for the Sindicato Crime Family. She just recently represented Seth Girodano and they fell in love with one another which is a big no no not only because of her profession but also because of her race. The Crime family does not approve of interracial relationships. Now that Braelynn has murdered someone in self defense it muddies the waters even more. The only way she sees out is to get help from Seth and the Sindicato but if she does that their relationship will come out. If that happens she risks everything in her life falling apart. Once she opens the door for the mafia family to help her she will be involved with them on a level she never wanted. Will Braelynn survive this trial and still be able to have the career she loves afterwards? Will she be able to share her life with the man she loves? Read Sons Of Sindcato to find out!

This is a cute romance story that has a touch of humor to it. This is a well written story about a city boy and a country girl. This story will show you how much things could change if just given 10 days. Alex has given himself 10 days to embrace the country. His friends including a girl named Penny are determined to help him with this. Will Alex and Penny find themselves embracing more than something out of their element? They made the story fun to read and entertaining. I laughed a couple of times out loud at them. They made the story for me. I highly recommend reading this book.

Braelynn has a secret and is a great female lead. I love how brave she is whilst still having fenemine side. The combation of both these works very well. This is a amazing short story which grips you right from the start.

I’ve read and enjoyed a couple of Paul DeBlassie III’s books before so approached Goddess of Everything with excitement which the book definitely lived up to! In Aztlan, DeBlassie has created a spiritual playground where he can draw on different traditions and beliefs to create a thought-provoking fantasy world. Goddess of Everything is a dark book, filled with death from the opening scene at a cemetery. There are themes of corrupt power and loyalties as well. It’s intense at times, but in a gripping way that will have you frantically turning the pages. I particularly liked Consuela, a grounding presence in Gabriél’s life. It is hard being the wife in a book about a mother-son relationship and Consuela brings characterfulness and independence to the role! For me, this is a four-star book, and I’m definitely keen to read more of DeBlassie’s books. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something different from anything you’ve read before!

This is quite the story. I love reading more about Dahlia and her escapades. There is a lot that happens and it really kept me on my toes. Even re-reading passages to make sure I am understanding the flow of the story. Do you like action? Well this one has it in spades! Deceit, trickery and strong friendships all Fall into line within the story.
We meet new characters and say hello to some old ones. Each on add some spice and fire to the story. Dahlia has been fighting for her life, her friends and even sometimes her enemies. She is strong if mind and body as she struggles to understand what is happening to her and her town. Evans is still a great side kick and they have a few comedic moments. Creed is up in the air and not really sure which side he is landing on.
Overall this is a nice add to her series. The characters all come to life in their roles. The story has many ups and downs so be prepared. It looks like this might not be the end for her but we will see.

10 Days by KJ Holliday is a great book with strong, relatable characters. They completely made this book for me and are what had me turning the pages. Everything about them was so easy to imagine. I could vividly picture most of their conversations happening and it really made me feel like I was right there with them. The story itself I found to be quite fun. I expected it to feel a bit rushed given that it was mainly going to happen over 10 days but this was not the case at all. The author really took the time to build the story to make it a great read. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am looking forward to reading more from them in the future.

8 Second Ride by Shannon Nemechek is a short enemies to lovers story that will definitely leave you wanting more. The characters are great to read about as they have a strong chemistry between them. I connected with them as soon as I started reading. Although the book is short the author does a great job of building the story up so it doesn’t feel like you have missed out on anything. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

What a ride!!!. So much suspense, gave me chills. It certainly drew me in. Tessa had so much going on in her life, her parents dying then her grandma and she can also see the dead, but everything changes when someone named Rebecca appears and Tessa starts to think her happily ever after is not so happy after all and starts to doubt everything about her loving husband.
Learning To Live: An Enemy To Lovers Ugly Cry is the first book in The Infinite Love Series by Kira Adams. The first thing I have to say about this book is that the author got it spot on when putting ‘Ugly Cry’ in the title. I have to admit that I sobbed like a baby reading this book. Tissues are a MUST when reading this book. I don’t cry a lot when reading books but when I do I know it’s a sign that the author has done an amazing job to set my emotions off so much. I had never read any of Kira Adams work before reading this book but this certainly wont be the last book of hers I read. I’m already desperate to read the 2nd book to see what happens to Topher next. I have to admit that Enemy to Lovers is one of my favourite romance tropes. I love reading the thought process as a character begins to realise that their feelings towards their ‘enemy’ is changing. Ciera and Topher’s story fulfilled this really well and I loved reading their story. Ciera is one of the most amazing characters I have ever read. I loved her from the beginning of the book and as her story progressed I loved her even more. She really put me through the wringer. I would 100% recommend this book to others and don’t forget the tissues. I guarantee you are going to need them.

This book drew me in immediately. It was like watching a Lifetime movie in my mind! I enjoyed the pace of the book and read it in about a day. I just had to know how things played out in the end! Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, I was surprised by twists that I was NOT expecting.

I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend reading this series in order to get to know the characters and to just enjoy this wonderfully written series. This book is my favorite yet and I definitely see myself going back and reading this series in the future. Once I started I couldn’t put it down till I finished. What happens when Beck’s sister talks her into taking Tennis Lessons ? There’s a few twists that had me on the edge of my seat. What happens when a Tennis Pro is found murdered? Seconds (Internet Famous Collection #6) by Cam Johns is an original second chance romance story. It is not your normal fairy-tale. It is a unique modern dark retelling of Rapunzel as you have never seen before. There is angst and drama, laughs and heartbreak, tears and struggles and so much more. Cam’s writing style keeps you engaged and the unexpected dark twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat.

I had a feeling going into this book that I was going to love it and I was so right. The start of a new series has me wanting more and loving these characters. Although a quick read it had everything I would want in a mafia type story and then some. If I had not seen that this was written by two authors I would have never realized it. The writing was so smooth and never once felt like I was transitioning from one author to the next.
Braelynn could possibly be one of my favorite female leads ever. Her strength and take no crap attitude while still having a vulnerable side was awesome! Oh and..That Slap!! I’ll never forget that scene and I was reading along like Holy Crap woman what were you thinking, but that’s who she is and I love it!
I can not wait to get my hands on what’s to come for all of these characters. I can’t recommend this story enough, I have found that I love books written with the mafia theme, and this one was incredible!!
