This is the 8th book in the Jarvis Mann Detective series. Even though it is part of a series it can be read as a standalone. However I think if it is read in order then the characters would all make sense in their connection to each other. This didn’t detract from this book for me in any way though.
The author does an amazing job at keeping you hooked on the edge of your seat. With danger and suspense you are on a rollercoaster ride from start to finish.
I love a crime story and this one has an unsolved mysterious murder and an extremely dangerous element with the gang vibe.The author does an amazing job describing the gang element that you get an understanding about how dangerous that environment is.  Even the people who help our detective are dangerous and questionable which makes you wonder how it will work out  and if our Dectetive Mann can solve this case without losing his life.
