The Forsaken: Wraith by Martin Ferguson – Review by Ashley Dover

The Forsaken: WraithThe Forsaken: Wraith by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As a lover of fantasy and young adult books, I found this first book in The Forsaken series by Martin Ferguson to be fascinating. The characters are well thought out and their identities and capabilities are shared with the reader opening up to a new world of fantasy.

Alena Athscar loses everything that is precious to her as a young girl. Everything except her relationship with her uncle. Galloping away into the night, they escaped the death and destruction of Arnhold.

As a young woman, Alena, now an apprentice, sets off to complete her trial. She must complete it alone and return with a prize and coin. After choosing the path less traveled, she ends up in Folado’s Fortune Inn where an opportunity to complete her trial presents itself. She completes her trial and slays a siren.

Now a full member of the Guild, the Slayer, her new title, gets an unforeseen opportunity to work for The Sacred in the recovery of one of their Increments. Travel to Stonemere leads the Slayer and her band of reinforcers to a discovery of pure evil. Can the Slayer and her companions stop the evil before it completes its destruction of the town?
