A Spell of Rowans by Byrd Nash – Review by Kerry Carr

A Spell of RowansA Spell of Rowans by Byrd Nash
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really interesting book. It was not the first book I have read by this author but I really enjoyed this one. From the authors previous books I expected a lot of magic and paranormal things but this was more of a murder mystery with some paranormal elements and it was really enjoyable. I loved all the characters, they all work well together and really make the story come to life.

This book deals with some subjects are sometimes hard to read such as abuse and the effects of abuse, a dysfunctional family, and murder. And though the books isn’t too graphic they are written in a respectful way that means the reader isn’t too put off by them.

The Rowan children have had an abusive family life thanks to their mother using their magical abilities for her own twisted and evil pleasure.
Now their mother has passed away the siblings are free to live their own lives. However before they can move forward they will uncover secrets and realise just how bad their mother was.
Things also go wrong when their brother is arrested for murder. Did he do it or is he innocent? Its now up to Victoria to figure it all out and prove her brothers innocence of the crime.
With all of them being victims of their mother they are all now in danger from people looking to get their revenge. So while Victoria is trying to solve this crime and free her brother the rest of the siblings remain in danger from sources they don’t know about.
