I loved the character and world-building in this book. The descriptions and feelings within the characters encountering any number of terrors and horrific otherworldly creatures were simply fascinating. Although slightly jarring to jump from story to story from different characters in different times and places in the world, the way they all piece together takes the reader on a journey not unlike the one the characters trying to decipher the Dread Praises find themselves on. It took me a bit longer to truly get hooked into the book than I would normally experience, but I also felt far more invested in the story by the time I finished. I’m truly looking forward to where the series leads next.
