The Crown of Stones: Magic-Price by C. L. Schneider – Review by Beth McKitrick

Magic-Price (The Crown of Stones, #1)Magic-Price by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is definitely a unique take on the old “magic user” trope. I liked the concept a lot, and it definitely checked the boxes for a good fantasy/adventure novel. However, the writing wasn’t necessarily my style. It’s not bad by any means, it’s just a bit much for someone who prefers fluffy reads – the whole thing gives me a sort of Game of Thrones vibe (which is a very popular series, just not my thing). The characters were complex and interesting and I thought it was a good story that started out a bit slow. I saw some people didn’t finish the book but I think if you push past the beginning, it gets more enjoyable. Definitely will be interested to see where the next book takes us!
