My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book took me completely out the box and I might have even had a dream or 2 about it. It was original and thought provoking with just the right characters to deliver the story. This story had the perfect amount of intrigue wrapped in drama, suspense, mystery, horror, the supreme what if question.
This is a fast paced yet fun story that really keeps you guessing and ups the ante every chapter. I started backwards so book one is next, but this is definitely one you need to pick up.

Unabridged is a wonderful love story about a couple renewing their love. While reading I was rooting for them so hard to be together, and as the events unfolded I was ecstatic that it resulted in their love continuing. There are a couple of steamy moments in the book which certainly add a bit of flair! I love the way that the author illustrates the happenings of the book. It didn’t happen all too fast, and the book has levels! I thoroughly enjoyed our main characters and Rat too!

This second book picks up where book 1 leaves off. I really enjoyed reading from multiple points of view and getting to know the characters more. As the virus is spreading the race is on to find a solution. I loved getting to read from Aileen’s perspective and getting to know her more. There are definitely some twist that I was not expecting at all! As always I love this authors writing style. I cannot wait to read book 3!!! I need to see where this goes!

Unabridged was a wonderful 2nd chance romance. I love how you see the character growth between from before this story started to now. Hometown sweethearts that didn’t last. Well they could’ve if Angelina didn’t make a split decision at the time.
Angelina works as a journalist at Unabridged magazine. Little does she know her world is about to be rocked. Excited about her new article she walks straight into her boss’s office saying “You’re going to love me.” Never in a million years did she expect to hear, “I did once.” Coming from none other than that love she left behind, Blade Spencer.
Blade Spencer the new editor & chief of Unabridged. Just discovered that the one who got away, the one he has been pining for since she left, now works for him. What are the odds? Is this his 2nd chance at happily ever after.
Well not without some speed bumps along the way. How will Angelina and Blade handle their unresolved feelings for one another?
You will just have to read and find out!
If you’re a fan of 2nd chance romances, please check it out. You will not and I mean will not be disappointed.

Exit Strategy (Nite Fire #5)Exit Strategy by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Epic Conclusion to a Fantastic Series! Nite Fire: Exit Strategy is not my favorite book in the series but I still loved it. A series that was definitely different to say the least. I was skeptical about starting this series, but I don’t regret it. Now I’m sad I’m on the 5th and final book. I guess it’s time to start all over again! To get reinvigorated all over again, maybe even coming across something I missed before.
Oren has started to wreak havoc on all worlds. Dahlia and her few friends battle officially with him. Will they succeed? Oren seems to easily over power them.
Our heroine has also come full circle from book 1. The 1st rip I’m the veil she repaired, was the one from the Chandler house. Now just a million more to go… lol Naalish has taken Alex Creed prisoner. Dahlia has to save him. Will she succeed?
So many questions with plenty of answers but you need to read to find out! You need to read all 5 books. It’s definitely worth the time! Now that they sadly ended, it’s time to start over. What do you say will you join this journey over again with me?

Our favorite author is back with a new installment and it’s absolutely perfect! Once again we are provided a story and plot with amazing characters, drama, action, and so much more that you won’t want to put it down. While this is the last installment in this series I will personally be looking for more from this author. The story flows smoothly, the characters all have their own uniqueness, and the story just has so much originality that I simply couldn’t put it down. So if your looking for a great new series or even just a new book make sure and pick this one up today.

Dahlia is trying to keep the apocalypse from happening. Amidst betrayals, loss and things unforeseen, she is trying to stem the tide of the Blight as it overtakes different worlds through the exits. She is slowly losing the battle as she tries to find the answers as to how to fix it all. Will she be able to find the answers in time? Can she save her friends that have become her family in time?

This is the last book in this series. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. Yes, it has dragon shifters, and she is a red head, but that is just one reason why I liked it. The story describes a woman who struggles with opening herself up to other because she was raised not to. She fights against it and what she finds is infinitely more than she could have thought possible. Her friends see her in ways that she can’t, and they support her, and encourage her. I enjoyed each of her friends and how they challenged her to change and to love.

Sad to say good-bye to Dahlia Nite, but happy to have read her story.

This was your very cute, very typical romance novel but the author did such a good job of bringing the readers in and making us feel like we knew the characters personally! I do with the geographical facts were checked but this was a nice book that you could sit down and ready without having to think a ton! I could escape the real world and get lost in someone else’s story! I would definitely try another book by this author!

Unabridged (Lovestruck) by Melinda De Ross

This is a great read by the author. Unabridged is a fantastic read and I can’t wait for more. This is part of the Lovestruck Series and can be read as a standalone.

Angelina left behind the love of her life because she was ashamed of herself. Three years later she’s made a name for herself and is working a great job. She goes into the office to tell her boss about a new article only to run into her ex. Can they pick up where they left off? The quote I chose for Angelina is: “I told you why I did it. We had no future together. I almost had a heart attack when I walked into Howie’s office and saw him there. I don’t know how the hell I’ll manage to work for him. I never thought I would ever see him again. Why, oh why does s*** like this keep happening to me?”

Blade has made a good life for himself except he’s been missing one thing. His ex-girlfriend who just happens to be one of his new employees. He has an ex-wife who might cause problems. The quote I chose for Blade is: “No, Angelina, I assure you I’m not joking. I’m your new boss. If you spent more time at the office working, you would know that Howie retired last month and moved to San Francisco.”

Highly recommended for Romantic Comedy lovers.

Unabridged (Lovestruck Series Book 2) by Melinda De Ross – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Unabridged (Smart & Sassy in the City, #2)Unabridged by Melinda De Ross
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When Angelina made the painful decision to leave Blade to move to Seattle to pursue her career, she convinced herself it was the best decision for all involved. She did her best to leave her past behind her and threw herself into pursuing her career as a journalist. Years later Angelina’s life is on track, her journalism career is going well, and she loves her job working as a journalist at Unabridged magazine. Imagine her surprise when she walks into work one day and her new boss is her ex-boyfriend, Blade Spencer!

Angelina’s past is brought to light and old feelings resurface. Suddenly she is forced to relive her past and make the difficult decision to reveal her true reasons for leaving Blade. Would Angelina finally tell Blade the real reasons she left him with no warning or explanation? What was so horrible that it would make her leave the love of her life? Would Blade be able to forgive her? Could they put the past behind them and move forward?

I loved this book and found it impossible to put down. I read it from cover to cover in one sitting because I had to find out what would become of Angelina and Blade. The author did an amazing job of drawing the reader into the story. The characters of Angelina and Blade were wonderful, and they were easily relatable. I found myself rooting for them to work things out and just put the past behind them. Many times, I just wanted to reach into the book and give Angelina a shake for being so stupid by leaving a man who was so clearly devoted to her. Other times I felt such compassion for her and could understand why she did what she did. This book was a roller coaster ride of emotions for me as I became wrapped up in the lives of Angelina and Blade. I highly recommend this book!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am glad I picked up this book to read, it was so good!!! When we first meet both Zenni and Colton, I was intrigued how this story would play out. I loved Zenni’s character and how strong and determined she was, and trying to fight for what was right in her mind and for her family. Zenni meets Colton and tries to put up a fight to not destroy a plantation that her ancestors were part of……but Colton has reasons…..and the more you read into this story the author really sheds a light on both characters on to keeping a piece of history to remain standing that was not a good part of our history, but yet learn from or destroy the plantation because of the bad that was part of it. Can Colton and Zenni’s love for each other the more they get to know each other overcome their differences in what to do about the plantation?

The author told a great story on two different people whom come together and have different perspectives over a historical plantation … this story was so good!

This is another amazing read by the author. Exit Strategy is the last book in the Nite Fire Series. I’m sad to see the series coming to an end, but it was a great read.

Dahlia is back at it once again. She isn’t only trying to save her world but she’s trying to save Earth as well. Seventy two hours and hardly any survivors. The quote I chose for Dahlia is: “Tara, my name is Dahlia Nite. I’m not a cop, but I do know how to kill these things. And I’m not going to let anything happen to you. Either of you.”

Highly recommended for Supernatural Fantasy lovers.

Sashimi (Evil Sushi #2)Sashimi by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is the second in the Evil Sushi series and it was much better than the first. I found Evil Sushi just to be an introduction to the series while this book is much more action packed and more information included.

The people in the book now have some idea with what they are dealing with and the town that was once called “Treacle” is now a military base with the goal of ending this apocalypse that fish have caused.

We once again follow Rod, Ned and Sally along with Aileen, the head of the military team to find out information on the fish creatures. That is until another military base got attacked and the general takes over the Treacle base.

The military enlists Rod, Ned and Sally to help out with their mission. Rod as the tech person, Ned as captain of the ship and Sally as Aileen’s helper. I recommend reading this book. It is different than anything I have read before making it unique and enjoyable!

Exit Strategy (Nite Fire #5)Exit Strategy by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was the last book of the Nite Fire series and it was AMAZING! I loved the whole series but this one was by far my favorite.

The book starts with Dahlia fighting supernatural creatures in the sentinel. The start of the end is here. Everything that Dahlia is fighting to avoid finally came. She had run out of time. Now Dahlia is on damage control. With half of her team missing, she is trying to protect the humans while still trying to figure out how to close the exits.

Oren has made things much more difficult for everyone by destroying the police force and bringing his own force into the mix. Dahlia, Casey and the balaur have a lot to do with very little time left to do.

I highly suggest you read this series! The author is now one of my favorites. Everything I have read by them has captured my interest from start to finish.

Everwood County Plantation: BWWM Enemies-to-Lovers Billionaire RomanceEverwood County Plantation: BWWM Enemies-to-Lovers Billionaire Romance by Stacy-Deanne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was definitely a quick, easy read. The characters are depicted beautifully as is the scene descriptions, especially those of the plantation. While I did enjoy this book I craved more conflict, more tension, and more passion.

We meet Zenni first who returns to her family’s hometown to assess and repair the damage done to her grandparents house from a previous hurricane. While there she catches wind of Colton Sage’s plans to tear down the Everwood Plantation which is a personal part of Zenni’s family history. As the fighting continues putting them into close proximity it seems the feelings they share are not only deep but meaningful and intimate. Can Zenni and Colton get over their own selfish ways to find their happily ever after? Or will they let the past ruin any type of future they might have?

A very quick read, with a simple to follow storyline. If you like romance novels this is a fairly good read and you would most likely enjoy this novel. I know I enjoyed it, I would just like a little more depth to the situations Zenni and Colton faced, both together and separate!

This is an incredible series and easily one of my favourites. Right from the moment I started reading Book one I knew I was in for such a ride. I love Dahlia. She is such an amazing character – strong and fiesta and complex and interesting. The supporting characters are all brilliant as well – it became so I couldn’t wait to read more about them as well.
These books are fast paced and exciting. I love the way the stories are all unique but interconnecting. This book was such a great ending to the series, even if I’m not quite ready for it to be over yet. This author has firmly become one of my favourites and I cannot wait to see what she produces next.

Finding Melodie and The Wedding Special Boxset by Laura Rossi – Review by Kayla Kearney

Melodie Boxset (Melodie #1-2)Melodie Boxset by Laura Rossi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I previously read a mystery by this author, so was completely blown away by how fantastic of a rom com author she is! She wrote as if I was sitting down next to her and she was talking about how she fell in love with someone. I truly felt in both of her books that I was a fly on the wall, experiencing everything along with the main characters.

I wish that the books had been a bit longer but I definitely loved being able to finish the boxset during one weekend, a busy one at that! It was the perfect books to sit down to read and relax at the end of a long day, let out some laughs and cheers for the couple. I can’t wait to read more by the author!

Melodie Boxset (Melodie #1-2)Melodie Boxset by Laura Rossi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

To be quite honest, I am hardly in the mindset to read about the road to someone else’s happily ever after, the journey of my life has been a difficult one to say the least. That being said! I thoroughly enjoyed the escape and thoughts/feeling and positivity that Melodie brought to the table in this box set. It is always a nice reminder that this life is the life you have and to make the most of it and to help those around you learn to appreciate the small things and to do things for themselves to find that silver lining as well. There are always going to be bumps in the road, it’s how you choose to work through said bumps that really matters, and to find someone that balances you out, that’s the real treat in life!

The authors style of writing allowed you to become completely immersed within the pages of these novels and to fall in love over and over again, not only with the characters, but with the world as a whole, and to bring those feelings, happiness, and light filled days back to the real world with you. Pixie was truly a breath of fresh air, Office Guy brought his own set of emotions and feelings with him, being the lovable nerd we all know in our own lives, and the friends and family that surround them are more than anyone could ask for. I would be more than happy to read more by this author and look forward to recommending this read to others looking for a little light. Well done!

Melodie Boxset (Melodie #1-2)Melodie Boxset by Laura Rossi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars

Finding Melody and The Wedding Special Boxset by Laura Rossi contains both books in the Melody Boxset. It is a fun romantic comedy with a friends-to-lovers and opposites attract element. Lots of humour as well as touching moments make this a story to remember. Right from the beginning I couldn’t help but like these two characters and found myself wholeheartedly cheering them on the whole way through.
What happens when our free-spirited creative hippie meets her crush, Office Guy, who’s more serious and definitely more conventional than Melodie… We move from them meeting and becoming friends, to more, in the first book. Then to meeting their families and all that entails, as wedding bells sound in the distance in the second instalment. Sprinkled with a little angst and drama, this boxset was definitely engaging and entertaining. And being a boxset, there is no wait between books, one flows into the next making it my favourite way to read.
I wonder what Ms. Rossi has in store for us next?
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Laura Rossi!

Sashimi (Evil Sushi #2)Sashimi by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What can I say….C.A. King is on a roll with her series Evil Sushi! I thought that book 1, Evil Sushi was awesome, but I think that Sashimi is just as good, if not better! C.A. King knows how to mix suspense with a love story, mystery, and a little bit of horror. In her first book of the series, Evil Sushi we are introduced to Rod, Ned and Sally, well the adventure continues with Rod, Ned and Sally. Ned is still a stubborn, know it all old fisherman, Rod and Sally finally tie the knot, and Evil Sushi is still lurking out there…somewhere. The human race is on the verge of extinction, and it’s up to Rod and Ned to work with the government to figure out how to stop this “virus”. Rod and Sally’s marriage is already facing turmoil, and there’s nothing Rod can do about it at this moment. The government is working with Rod, Ned and Sally to try to find a solution, but are they really looking for a true solution, or are they just using Rod, Ned and Sally. There’s so much in this book that it is so hard not to spoil it!! I will definitely be reading the third book in the series, Wasabi.

Wow two books for the price of one, and by an amazing author, what is better than that?! These two wholesome romance novels were a super fun read! I love getting box sets as I do not have to hunt for the second or third books in the series. The characters are lovable, and I could not get enough of them! This was not the first set of books that I have read by this author, and it will not be the last!

Josie is stuck in a no end relationship; with an abusive husband and two children she needs to escape and leave him. She finally gets the guts to leave and goes to her hometown, were she lives in a cabin in the woods. As, she is always on the look out for her ex-husband she starts noticing things, until another body turns up in the river taking Josie back to her 12 years old self.

Things then starts happening, family secrets that should be kept secret start to emerge and Josie is sent down a swirling path to try and hide from her ex-husband and secrets from the past.

This is the first book I have read by this author and oh my this is not what I expected at all, in a good way. The story is well written, and the book has you gripped from the first few chapters. The characters are complex but adds to the build of the anticipation of intriguing story which develops as you read further into the book.

The character of Josie is written superbly and which her complex past and the utter strength she has showed to do the things and discover what she has is a brilliant character to run through the centre of the book, showing her courage at every turn was a refreshing insight.

If you are looking for a brilliant thriller with twists and turns and allow the writer to take you on a brilliant journey then this is a book for you.
