My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was the first book I read in this series – and I can say that it functioned well as a stand-alone. The plot was intriguing, and I learned a lot from reading it! The author clearly researches every aspect of her story and brilliantly entwines facts and details that make it feel real and authentic. I am happy to say that I will be purchasing more books in this series because I love the writing style and the mystery aspect.
Another thing I really enjoyed about this book was that the main character/heroine is an independent woman who has a grown child and grandchild. You rarely happen upon books that have a detective type older than 20’s. This was a refreshing aspect. Additionally, the rest of the characters varied in age and substance. Definitely recommend!!
