The Husbands by Naomi Valkyrie took me on an unexpected, intriguing and emotional journey. It is a short novella, but definitely packed the punch of a much longer novel.
Life throws Dorian a bit of a curveball, with fate propelling him into Augustine’s life in a very unexpected way. What starts out as a sense of responsibility on his part to make things right, turns into so much more. Feeling become involved. Life becomes confusing and complicated. The heart wants what the heart wants. But with significant other’s already in their lives, heartache isn’t far away. But their connection can’t be denied. So is there a way for them to find the happiness they crave? An intriguing short story with more emotion and complexity than it first appears.
These characters are really well developed into fully realised and complex individuals with their own personalities, quirks and flaws. I wasn’t sure of what to expect when the story began, but as usual Ms. Valkyrie had me quickly investing in these characters and the outcome of their story. The emotional quality of the story was nicely balanced with suspense, intrigue, and dramatic developments that propelled the story forward quite quickly. The author managed to weave quite a lot into a small amount of space and provided an engrossing read.
Well Done! Looking forward to more from Ms. Valkyrie.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Naomi Valkyrie!
