This book is about Riley Scott who is a private detective. She mainly catches cheating spouses so she isn’t looking for love in her life. She meets Tristan Cain at a coffee shop and immediately they are Both attracted to eachother but neither lets their feelings known. However Tristan goes out of his way on his days off to go back to that same coffee shop in hopes of running into her again and again. When Riley’s coworker sets her up on a blind date, it’s one of the firefighters who Tristan is close with so he and Riley get to talking and get to know eachother better. Tristan is a firefighter and rescues her when she needs it. Seeing Riley again after so long, he thinks he’s seen a ghost and then it all makes sense. This book was a great short read. Wish it was longer.

This was a quick read for me. It was a good story with a moving plot. There were a lot of connectable themes for the reader. I thought that Cecily was a well designed character and enjoyed seeing her handle what life was throwing. I would read more by this author.

Yeti Left Home by Aaron Rosenberg. This is such a original story about a Yeti aka Wylie that lives in the woods and minds his own business. He has friends and a home but he soon has to leave because there has been a murder and people are starting to snoop around trying to find the killer. Moving to a new town and starting over is hard for anyone but for a Wylie trying to fit in is really hard. Where he has moved to is the city and he’s not used to that as well as all the people. While there he finds lots of other supernatural characters and friends. The problem is Wylie thinks the murderer has followed him because murders are starting to happen in his new town. Can Wylie find him before any more people die or worse before he finds Wylie Fun and lighthearted this book is a joy to read. Something different and new.

I fell in love instantly. There’s a murder, obviously, but this whole story just kept me in a good mood. I love starting over in a new town trope, and I’m honestly glad we didn’t have a lot of stress in the story from the ex-husband. The characters all had different personalities that fit so well together, my favorite are Barbra and Ingrid. I want to be these ladies when I’m older. The mystery was great, you learn about some of the people in town which leads you guessing who is our murderer. I honestly wasn’t even thinking of this person at the end, so it was nice to see I was wrong. In the book our main character speaks of a tv show which I believe is a great way of describing the book: “Great for slapstick humor and easy on the stressed mind.” The story isn’t all laughs but there are some funny moments that I think all readers will enjoy. A great book to read if you’re looking to get into Cozy Mysteries.

A Spot of Earl Slay (Tea Time Troubles Book 1) by Aubrey Elle. This is such a fun read. I can’t wait to read the next one. This is the story of Naomi and her teenage daughter Ella who have moved to Fayette a small town to get away from their family drama. When they arrive to move into their house they find a dead body in their storage shed. Everyone comes to their house to find out what is going on and when they find out the victim is the town gossip most people are not too sad. When more bodies start turning up Naomi gets worried because along with neighbors Ella has become very interested in the investigation. With all the drama Naomi’s ex is making trouble for her again. All she wanted was to move to a small quiet town and this has been anything but. Read this cozy mystery filled with murder and mystery. You won’t be disappointed.

Riley and Tristan keep crossing paths. Riley is a Private Investigator who finds herself in a rescue situation. One in which Tristan will be her knight in shining armor.
Tristan with a crazy ex tried multiple times to get Riley out of the picture. When this is discovered while Tristan is keeping himself and Riley safe while waiting to be rescued they take precautions and hole up together.
This leads to a fall in head over heels in love in a 48 hours type of scenario. Then the crazy ex shows back up and threatens the fairy tale ending for Tristan and Riley.
Will they survive the crazy ex again? There are some crazy people in the world that will go to great lengths for the one they love and this book makes you think about that! I found myself wanting more story and not wanting it to end.

This might be one of my favorite books by this author. I loved watching Sue explain to Meg why monsters were scary, and the Meg come back basically showing Sue that her and monsters were similar in some aspects. The art is beautiful, and the way Sue describes everything for her blind sister is a great way to show kids how to help when talking with someone who is blind.

In this kind of Novel, I love when the character feels like the happy ending is at the beginning of the story. I thought that too when I read the part about Lauren falling in Love with Mitch at six years old. I was like aww that is cute but that really never happens, does it? But like any other story fairy tales only last for a while especially for Lauren and Mitch. I truly did not like how Mitch can do that to her. Treating her like a queen and then like nothing. I am glad that Lauren kept on going and not letting Mitch ruin her, but that is what I thought. Poor Lauren towards more at the end of the story reality hits harder for Lauren when her hard-working restaurant went down in flames and her marriage. I never thought that I can feel her pain until that happened to her, letting her emotions take the best of her into gabbling her life away. An amazing story that I would recommend to anyone but start with the 1st book. The author did an amazing job, it kept my eyes watery for most of it.

The book had me hooked from the first chapter. It was an enjoyable read that keeps your interest from start to finish. The characters are thought out and easy to connect with. It has adventure, action, and plot twists. I cannot wait to continue on in this series!
This is the first book in The Reeds of West Hills series. It follows twins Frank and Jon as they gain unique powers in fifth grade. Frank can read minds while Jon can see the future. Unable to control their powers the boys are sent to a boarding school that will assist them in learning to use their powers. However, this move isn’t going as planned when Jon becomes the one blamed for a dangerous relic going missing. Frank, friends, and a grump teacher must hurry to clear his name before Jon gets expelled. Does Jon get expelled? Pick up the book and find out!

Garrett has managed the biggest Rock band for almost ten years, but over the past few years he has done things he is not proud of which has made his trust with the band shaky at times but he excuses have always been for the good of the band. Garrett has loved the lifestyle and enjoys the single, young guy status but Garrett has had his regrets and one was the woman he left behind all those years ago to manage the band, but he has never really loved anyone else but her.
Olivia is at the top of her career, getting the gig of directing the Grammy’s is a once in a lifetime thing and she has to pinch herself, the only thing is she will see the man who walked out on her ten years ago and took her heart with him, choosing a group of young rock stars instead of her, hurts more than he will ever know. But, when Olivia gets a request to direct the new video for Balefire is he prepare to see Garrett and will all the old feelings come back. She has learnt to hide things can she hide the love still burning in her heart for this man.
OMG, I am not the biggest Garret fan but I loved this story of love and lost and the fairy-tale that can come true. Did he deserve to get Olivia back into his life, NO but to be fair the more I read of the book the more I actually warmed to Garrett and you get to understand the reasons behind all the things he did. I loved the characters of Olivia with her sassy, kick ass side to her but underneath all the glamour and armour still was still that lost girl hurt by the love of her life.
This was a brilliant well paced and written story, which if you have not read the series from the start can be read as a stand alone story but I recommend reading the whole series as you get the full view of Garrett and what he has done and how everything fits in. The relationship between him and the band in the end was lovely to read and how they understood his sacrifices that he took at the beginning and was a great end to the story.
Thank you for a brilliant series and a fitting ending to this series and pulling Garrett out of the idiot section to the AHHH section.

–Catch Your Thoughts Before They Ruin Your Day By: Samantha Ena Minichiello “I have the power to choose which thoughts are welcome to stay.” A story about changing your thought process and being aware of how your thoughts can change your perception of events. How a slight change in how you think can change everything. You can choose which thoughts you let influence you. Great strategy for dealing with life’s ups and downs.
–A Squirrel’s Tale: Little Sherwin Squirrel Gets Brave Against Bullies By: Dr. Pamela J. Pine. Little Sherwin is being bullied and it has taken a toll on his confidence and emotional well-being. He finally decides to tell his mother what he’s been going through, and she helps by having a talk to the bullies and explaining how their actions affect Sherwin. He gets an apology and decides to forgive- leading to a new, more confident outlook. Cute.
–Courage Blooms: Baby’s Arrival Brings a Lesson in Love and Change By: Natasha Sharma A charming fantasy – since the arrival of her baby brother Freyja feels like she’s been replaced and no longer important to her mother and father. Then Allyssa the elf helps Freyja change her perspective to appreciate having a new baby brother and the changes that brings – instead of feeling like it’s a negative thing, or a competition for attention. She helps Freyja to appreciate that things can’t stay the same, things have to change, and how to deal with the changes. A story of family, love, patience, and understanding.
–Kesari: The Lion Who Thought He Was A Sheep By: Dr. Shelley Astrof

–One Rock At a Time: Coping With the Loss of Ruby By: Kelly Daugherty A great little story about love, grief, and coping and dealing with loss. How talking about it can really help and you don’t have to bottle it up. The memory box idea is wonderful.
–One Breath, Two Breaths, Three Breaths…. Go! By: Dr. Krupa Vora-Knarr Through a little adventure on a family hike through the mountains, this quirky interesting story teaches breath therapy. A strategy for dealing with all kinds of stressful situations. A great lesson for both the young, and old, alike.
–Amaleigha Tames a Bully: Kindness Can Change a Hard Heart By: Janice Pratt I have loved little Amaleigha since meeting her in ‘Amaleigha and the Big Idea’ and ‘Amaleigha Loves a Good Story. She might only be six, but she has a wise head on her young shoulders. She’s not only helpful but is also a great little problem solver. Here, Amaleigha and her classmates find a way to dela with a bully: “Kill them with kindness”. Does their strategy work. You really should read this sweet little story for yourself to find out whether their plan works. Definitely one of my favourites from the collection.
–I Can Feel and I Can Heal: A Young Girl’s Journey to the Heart By: Julie Funkhouser Marie has just discovered that her father has passed away- and she isn’t coping well with the news. But then a simple feather changes everything. A moving story about dealing with the death of a parent. Coping with grief and overwhelming emotions. And finding healing.
–Brooklyn’s Journey to Finding Inner Peace: How to Awaken Your Magical Chakras By: Dr. Jennifer Browne A new age spiritual approach to finding inner peace through knowing your chakra points and what each one is linked to. Then using that knowledge to focus your energy and channel healing, as well as to bring tranquility into your life.
–Chandria Chats With Mr. Moon By: Pamela Boehme Chandria teaches how voicing our concerns can help us see them in a new light. Voicing our troubles gives us control. This cute tale also teaches that we are in control of designing our life.
–Blaze Outside the Box By: Lacey Ayon Sometimes we label ourselves and put ourselves inside a box in an effort to fit in and be accepted. But this story teaches us that everyone is unique and to embrace our differences and get out of ‘the box’ we’ve been in. Be true to ourselves by accepting our differences and seeing them as what makes us unique. A lovely little story.
–The Body’s Secret Superpower By: Mair Lemus A magical little story with lessons from mother earth when Ana has trouble fitting in at her new school. She is sad and it is affecting every aspect of her life. A walk in the forest changes things and gives her a new perspective. Another of my favourites from this collection.
–The Magic Inside: Uncovering the Superhero Within By: Lorie Weed A great little tale that follows Alan on an adventure when he has to take a bus trip. It teaches coping skills and how everyone has a superhero within them. Sweet and fun.
–Caroline Can Do Hard Things: Courage for the Tough Times By: Meredith Speir Caroline’s world is a bit off-kilter since her parents recent divorce. The first day of school arrives and her friends won’t be in the same class. She is worried about how it will go. Plus, she’s missing her dad and having him there like normal. Her mother showers her with extra love, and Caroline’s first day of third grade, although stressful, turns out to be quite fun. Through the story we are taught that feelings are ok and normal- and shows that we CAN do hard things. An adorable little story that makes it to my favourites list.
–Operation Mind-Shift, Commence!!: Kole’s Hero’s Journey Into the Unknown By: Eddie BenAbraham An enjoyable story that follows Kole as he faces the unknown and deals with fear. Especially the fear of making a presentation in front of the whole class. How does he cope? What happens when it comes time to make his talk? You really should read all the interesting developments for yourself- it is definitely worth the read.
–Together they Build, Reflect, and Belong By: Tom Dahlborg Aaron has a great friend in Asa- we could all do with such a caring friend. This story is cute, and inspiring. All about loving ourselves just the way we are. It made it to my favourites list, too.
–Chan is Called to the Principal’s Office: A Change of Heart Can Help By: Susan Ernst “You see, you can change how you feel about things simply by thinking about them differently. By having a change of heart!” When Chan is called to the principal’s office his mind goes wild, expecting the worst. The story shows that we can change how something affects us, or stresses us, just by changing the way we see the situation. Great strategy to learn.
–Dear Miss Priscilla: I Dance In Your Name By: Manuela Welton Garavito A heartwarming little story full of wonderful memories. Teaching healing through movement/dance. And how you can find healing, courage, and your ‘voice’ through any art form – such as writing, singing, painting, or dancing. In this case it was dance. This sweet story was full of emotion and inspiration.
–The Monkey Brain Survival Guide: How to Cope With Sensory Overload By: Heidi MacAlpine Love learning about the Lazy Eight Survival Tool. A handy strategy to have, especially in these challenging times.
–Jesse’s Stage Fright: How to Find Your Voice By Ditching Perfection By: Justin Krull, PT Jesse learns to overcome stage fright by changing the way he ‘self-talked’. This story teaches you to find your inner light and deal with negative ‘self-talk’. We could all do with these strategies, especially in this modern world where ‘perfect’ seems to be expected. Our thought process can change everything.
–Kiddo and Kidette: to Be or Not To Be Brave – A Play By: Corinne Puget A cute play about the different ways to be brave. And a great, fun way to finish off this collection.
As you can see, there is plenty here to inspire- as well as a few illustrations to help build interest …. so, if your future world-changer could do with some inspiring and helpful strategies, then this is definitely a book you will want to have on your bookshelf. Happy Reading…

Adam Tron is part of the biggest rock band of the century and as such can have his choice of woman but as his friends in the band are slowly finding there futures he is feeling a bit lost at the moment. Although he has a plan that hopefully will bringing with the woman who has dreamed about for a while now but never approach.
Christy Valor has overcome a lot in her life to get to the heights of the Pop world, so when one of the hottest Rock bands asks her to come and tour for some of there dates she jumps at the chance, although full of sass and seduction she is really looking forward to Tron, his bass speaks to her and if his music anything to go by he would be a brilliant lover, a bit of fun for the tour.
Although they strike up a relationship on the road, Adam feels like there is a secret with Christy that she is not comfortable sharing, yet. But, we need to get through Adam’s manager and Christy’s Manager who seem it is there right to sabotage the relationship from the beginning.
This is the first book I have read in this series and it can be read as a stand alone book, but I am determine to see how each of the other band members find there awesome women. This story is full of pace and you delve straight into the action from the first chapter.
I love the characters of Adam and Christy, as they gel well together and the chemistry which sparks of the age makes you want to keep turning the page to see where the story takes you. There are also great secondary characters with the sense of a family with the band comes off the page and you get the feeling of care and protection from them. I have to say I could have crawled into book and punched the manager Garrett but in the end you do have a sense of sadness for him but not much, Lol.
I can’t wait to read the next book and the books before this ones, as you have made a fan of me.

5 Star’s Cecily in the City (The Cecily Taylor Series Book 3) by Krysten Lindsay Hager
• Cecily in the City is the third book in The Cecily Taylor Series. This is a YA Contemporary Romance that will have you turning the pages trying to figure out what is going to happen next. This maybe directed more towards teen to young adults but in my opinion anyone of any age can enjoy this story. Tbis authors style of writing and her amazing characters make for a wonderful story. Her characters are well developed and very easily relatable. I felt like I could imagine every scene as if I were there. Cecily can’t imagine her life getting any better after she’s moved to the city and landed a dream position on a daytime soap opera. She’s very excited to be in the same town as her pop star boyfriend. Rumors get started shortly after she stars in another singers music video. Lots of drama behind the scenes. She just wants to be happy with Andrew. Soon she will find out life is much different in the spotlight.. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This was an inner-dialogue story of a young girl experiencing autism. I really enjoyed reading this book. Often times, when an autistic child is like Emerson and cannot communicate with those around her, knowing their inner feelings is hard. This book is an inside look at many different experiences that many different people have, not just autistic children. In this book, Emerson experiences not being able to get the correct words to come out of her mouth, becoming frustrated over not being able to communicate, feeling like an outsider when around children not like her, feeling like she needs to get up and move, sensory sensitive, and many other aspects of mental disorders. This book really brings to light how difficult this can be for autistic children and how much they care even if they can’t show it in a way people expect everybody too.
I let her go once because she wasn’t mine. This time, I’ll die before I give her up…
I want her.

A Monster For Meg by Lois Wickstrom is an illustrated children’s story book with sisters, monsters, intrigue, fun, and a little drama- teaching us a few lessons along the way. The illustrations are bright, colourful, and interesting- and the story was cute. I liked that even though Meg is blind, and her sister tried to scare her a little with ‘monster’ talk- Meg thought through the situation and was able to ‘see’ everything by using her other senses. She was able to think things through and use some logic. But I have to agree with her, monster hugs are the best. Happy reading!

My favourite quote from the book. “Don’t go alpha-male-diva on me.” Three Women in November is a wonderful romantic tale based on a true story. It is a very emotional and funny read and yet it is very confronting as everything is put on the line for the name of love. Jim is a brave man to turn his life into a story. I loved that the story was set in Australia. It made it seem more real as it’s easy to visualise the places. It is a unique and raw look into one man Leo and three very successful women on a search for love. It was interesting to read as it was told in the male perspective. The characters are real, complex, have heaps of baggage and make plenty of mistakes. The challenge, the pain, the joy, the drama and the humour as we follow along on this journey. Leo is a man who knows what he wants. He knows the world would not give him anything but a soul mate. Unfortunately, life is not that simplistic. The road to love is not paved with gold. I look forward to Leo’s next romantic adventure in, Kissing Scars.

The Guardian of Whispers is the first fun and engaging book in The Reeds of West Hills a kid’s fantasy series. It is a little Harry Potteresque and is aimed at teens aged 9 to 12 years. Having said that I am sure that a YA audience will enjoy it to. This is the first book I have read by this author, and I enjoyed the tale. This magical tale is one of growth and confidence, siblings, family and friendships. Follow along as we join ten-year-old twins as they learn to rely on each other and new friends as they are sent to West Hills School for the Perceptually Gifted after gaining special abilities. However not everything is smooth sailing. Abilities comes with consequences and the boys much learn how to navigate them. When the Guardian of Whispers goes missing it is up to one of them to clear the others name. With newfound friends they work together to find the real thief and save the day. If you love Percy Jackson and other magical tales, then you will enjoy this one.

I have read and watched all of the Harry Potter books/movies. I have to say that this book has a similar feel to it, and I absolutely loved it! This book is about twins Frank and Jon Reed who have some fascinating abilities: Frank starts reading minds and Jon can see the future. Both gifts have come with a heavy price tag, and are difficult to control. So, the twins must attend West Hills School for the Perceptually Gifted in hopes that they can learn to control their powers. However, as Frank and Jon soon discover moving to a new school is challenging. Jon gets himself into a big bind when something important goes missing. “All right, Mister Ree-ed.” McClery drew Jon’s last name out with a grumpy tone. “Follow me then.” McClery passed him, leaning on his cane and limping slightly. Professor Mortensen grinned nervously at Jon but didn’t offer any comfort. Sucking it up, Jon lifted his chin and followed the older man out the door. They left the main school building by way of the front stairs and continued down a pathway. “Sir, where are we going?” Jon asked, but the man beside him only grunted. Jon hated being ignored, but he was too nervous and confused to say anything. Their strangely silent walk ended at a small cottage on the edge of the school property. McClery pulled an old skeleton key out of his pocket and jimmied the lock a bit before opening the door. “There is no classroom available for your lessons,” McClery grumbled as he pocketed the key and shuffled inside, “so we will be using this house for the time being.”
“Food fight!” yelled Damien as he grabbed what was leftover on his plate. Chaos erupted in the cafeteria. Even though it had started at the fifth-grade table, the sixth and seventh graders quickly joined in with their own methods of attack. Many students ran for the doors, while others scrambled to combine what ammunition they could find. For the first time in almost a month, Jon chuckled. His laugh only grew as Frank wiped potatoes from his face and stared at him. Soon, Frank couldn’t hold back his chuckles either. Grabbing his brother’s hand, Jon pulled him under a table. “All right, you’re on collections. I’ve got targeting.” “Sniper?” Frank whispered. “Yes. Can you find me more meatloaf?” Frank nodded and left, returning quickly with several half-eaten pieces. Jon searched under the table until he found a spoon and fork. Perfect. As Frank massaged the meatloaf pieces into small balls, Jon placed them on the fork, drawing on years of practice for high-precision aiming. Meatloaf balls started flying from their corner. Jon pumped his fist as one hit a larger eighth-grader on the shoulder. A loud, booming voice gave Jon his next target. He pulled his fork back like a catapult and let the meatloaf ball fly. It soared through the air and landed with a small splat. “Yes!” Jon jumped up to see his victory hit. His voice echoed through the suddenly silent room. “Mister Reeeeeed!” A piece of meatloaf was dangling from Professor Owens’s mustache.
The Guardian of Whispers is the first book in The Reeds of West Hills by B.E. Padgett. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Padgett, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories- but the cover and blurb intrigued me, so I one-clicked a copy and set off to explore. What I discovered was a fun urban fantasy aimed at middle school aged children (9 – 12 years old)- but I am WAY older than that and I still enjoyed following along on the adventure- so I would say that it is a story that could be enjoyed by any age (from 7 years and up). This paranormal adventure introduces us to Jon and Frank, 10yr old twins, and their large zany family. They reminded me of the Weasley’s from Harry Potter- and the story definitely has Harry Potter/Percy Jackson vibes- as Jon and Frank have magical gifts that they need to learn to control, and so off to the magical academy they go., where their adventures really begin. The story is a fun start to the series, and even though there were times that the story felt rushed, or sections with some info dumping- the story, as a whole, was enjoyable. I can see how the author was trying to lay the groundwork/foundations for the series here, as well as setting up this adventure, and as the story progressed, things did get smoother. So, I am looking forward to seeing how things develop in book #2- The Secret of Arkaim. With action, adventure, magical powers, challenges, a priceless missing relic, crime and investigation, mystery, intrigue, mayhem, antics, banter, quirky characters, self-discovery, boarding school for the gifted, friendship, family, drama, and a touch of the unexpected- makes for a fun read. This is the first book in The Sweet Valley series by S.E. Reichert. You will fall in love with all the characters especially Elle and Blake. So full of depth and raw emotion. A great love story written so beautifully, but definitely some triggers. Push threw them if you can, you won’t be disappointed.

Savage Truth is the second book in this series and directly follows book one, so this cannot be read as a standalone. This is the conclusion to Riley and Cole’s Story who we met in book one. I really enjoyed their story even if i wanted to smack them occasionally. The author pulled me in and made the main characters interesting even when they were being total wankers. There was drama, suspense and with danger just around the corner no one could relax. This was a little angsty for my taste but i enjoyed the story overall and was eager to see how some of the “who’s and what’s” questions that book one left me with. I am looking forward to more books by this author in the future! Happy Reading!

I love a good cozy mystery! This one definitely hit the spot and I really enjoyed the author’s writing style. I loved getting to know the characters and have to say Barbara was my favorite. If only we all had neighbors like Naomi does. How wild to have all that happen in the first few days you move to a new place. She definitely had the best support system in her newfound friends. It definitely did not end how I expected which is a good thing. I definitely would love to read more of these characters’ stories and more from this author. If you are looking for a cozy weekend read to keep you turning the pages this is the one!

Savage Truth is the continuation of Cole and Riley’s story. The previous book ended in one heck of a cliffhanger and the angst and attraction between them is even more dramatic at the beginning of this book than it was in the first.
Cole is still trying to find a way to get both Riley and her mother out of his and his family’s lives, and Riley is trying to discover what her mother’s angle is. Is this just another con or does she really have true feelings for Cole’s father?
As Cole and Riley try to push each other to the brink, they also can’t deny the pull they feel towards one another. The attraction they feel soon starts developing into something much more, but dangerous secrets and dangerous characters are hiding in the shadows that threaten to destroy them all.
While there was a good bit of mystery in the previous book, it gets kicked several notches in Savage Truth. As the title suggests, we finally get the answers to the questions of the dark secrets Cole and Riley’s families are keeping.
This may be the final installment to Riley and Cole’s story, but the writer, Isla Vaughn, has a whole series in store for us that promises to give us other intriguing stories and characters. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

This is the third book in this author’s Millersville series but only the second I’ve read. That being said, Cabin Eight reads well as a stand-alone book. One thing I noticed in the first book I read by this author is that the thrills throughout each plot make you stop to think… could this really happen? Do people do these things? That in itself is eery and something the author carried into this book as well. I liked the twists and turns throughout this novel and while I didn’t find this book one that I “couldn’t put down” I was still invested from start to finish. Overall, I think this is a really good novel and would definitely recommend to people interested in the thriller/psychological thriller. I hope to read more of this author in the future.
