Planting Seeds: Growing Mindful Children Though Yoga by Janice Pratt and Lenora Degen – Review by Kristan Anderson
Planting Seeds: Growing Mindful Children Through Yoga by Janice Pratt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Planting Seeds: Growing Mindful Children Through Yoga (Yoga for Kids: Lesson Plans for the Teacher Book 1) by Janice Pratt and Lenora Degen was very cool and perfectly laid out. I personally am homeschooling my daughter and found this book to be an amazing resource for us! My daughter is very interested in seeds and gardening so having the “seed” theme made it that much more interesting to her. She loved it. Although we have not made it through the entirety of the book yet, I’ve read it and we have talked about what there is to come and we are excited. The lesson plans are laid out in a very easy to understand way. There are different activities including music, art, the obvious yoga posing and games. But my favorite was the gratitude journal (which I had to help because she doesn’t write yet) and the affirmations. So cute and so fun! Each thing is set up for a group but I found it easily adaptable for just her and I. Neither of us are huge into yoga and as we are beginners, I never felt as if we were behind or I was incapable of teaching the poses. Truly cannot wait to do our next lesson. The resources at the back of the book were very helpful to me. I am overall pleased with this book and think that while it is a great resource for homeschoolers, that it would be great in a classroom setting as well.
