Lois is a former high school chemistry teacher and former head science teacher at Science in the City Summer Camp in Philadelphia. She has also been an adjunct science teacher at University of South Florida. Since retiring, she continues to take science classes. Her class in Forensic Biology led to Little Red, The Detective, in which Red is studying fingerprint identification, so she can tell that “Grandma” isn’t who she says she is.

Lois has taken so many science classes that she believes science is the solution to almost every problem, including the dilemmas in fairy tales. She has invented what she calls Science Folktales. In each science-based tale, the protagonist achieves a better ending than the original because of learning scientific principles. She has turned some of these tales into plays.

She has also created a series of Mermaid Science stories, which make use of water science.

Lois is married to the love of her life. She has two children, four grandchildren and a dog.

The Veil by Wanda Luthman

‘*•.¸ 💫♾️¸.•*’ BOOK SPOTLIGHT SHOWCASE ‘*•.¸ 💫♾️¸.•*’
The Veil by Wanda Luthman
Genre – Inspirational, Family
Page Count – 26
Cover Designer – Mara Reitsma

The Veil is a biblical fiction book about the tearing of the veil inside the Jewish tabernacle when Jesus died on the cross. We don’t know of any eye witnesses to this from the Bible, but in the bibilical fiction story, The Veil, a Priest and a young boy who is being trained to become a Priest are eye witnesses to this spectacular event. Come along on this journey and experience this heart-pounding, fear-inducing, yet awe-inspiring event that holds so much meaning to the Christian faith.

There are references to the tearing of the veil in 3 books of the Bible (Matthew, Mark, and Luke), “the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.” Inside the Tabernacle were two rooms, The Holy Place and the Holiest of Holies. The veil separated these two rooms. The Holiest of Holies was where God lived and only one Priest was allowed to enter that room and only after being both physically and spiritually cleansed.

The tearing of the veil upon Jesus’ death represents what Jesus did for mankind on the cross–he paid the ultimate price for our sin, so we are no longer separated from a Holy God, our Creator. Therefore, we now have access to God because of the blood of Jesus. All of our sins are forgiven and we are made righteous. There is no more guilt to bear for our sins. We are free! Hallejuah!

This book was written to inspire all who read it regardless of age to “live” the experience and contemplate the wonderful gift Jesus gave us when He died upon the cross. But, his death was not final. He was raised from the dead in 3 days as was predicted by ancient prophets in the Bible. Because he was raised from the dead, He overcame death. We do still die physically, but after we die, if we have accepted this free and wonderful gift that Jesus offers us, we will join Him and His Father (God) and the Holy Spirit in Heaven and live for all eternity!

At the end of the book is a prayer and an opportunity to accept Jesus as your personal Savior so that you can accept His gift and live forever! Your eternity starts the moment you accept Jesus into your heart. You will live without guilt or shame from any past or future sins you may commit, if you sincerely repent. You will know LOVE like you have never known it before. You will know JOY and PEACE no matter the circumstances you are in. You will find a FRIEND that will NEVER leave you and that’s Jesus!

Two Dinosaur Stories in One Book. Flip it over and read another story. These dinosaurs are best friends, but sometimes they disagree.

A present for the Volcano

Spike (an ankylosaurus) sees a volcano erupting. He thinks it is unhappy.  He wants to give the volcano a present to cheer it up.  He gets his friend Conifer (a tyrannosaurus) to help him build a necklace of stones around the base of the volcano. When it does erupt, the stones block the lava flow.

Saving Conifer’s Eggs

Spike and Conifer smell smoke and know they must leave the forest. But Conifer is sitting on her eggs. She has three eggs and only two hands.  When she lifts her nest, she must walk carefully so they don’t clack together. Spike is impatient and swings his tail back and forth.  He knocks down a Ginko tree. The two friends decide to take the fallen tree to the river and use it to float away from the fire.

My school life was spent in a girls’ boarding-school specialising in classical ballet and on leaving I danced professionally, touring Europe, for 4 years. After that I ran my own ballet school in Athens, Greece and simultaneously volunteered as a veterinary nurse, as my love of animals is the driving force in my life. I returned to England with my horse and my cat, and now live on a smallholding in Shropshire with various farm animals and a constant stream of pets.

I started writing while in Greece and completed a Creative Writing Course with the Writers’ Bureau. The same year, I won an annual competition in the Writing Magazine for an adult Fairy Story.

On my return to England, I wrote two children’s books, but my new life, caring for Highland Cattle, sheep, hens and pets, coupled with extensive global travel, meant that writing for publication took a back seat. I continued my love of writing with a daily journal and amusing travel blogs of each trip.

I am now writing full time and working on two series: TALLY AND THE ANGEL and THE AMBERWOOD HALL BALLET SCHOOL.

My first published novel, THE GRACEFUL GHOST, part of the Amberwood Hall Series, draws on my own experiences in ballet-boarding-school and my early teenage life and is a story that has lived with me for many years. It was shortlisted for the UK Selfies Award 2021.

While visiting her sister in the Pacific Northwest, Samantha realized that Jake growled all the time. He growled while playing frisbee, getting an ear rub, running, and even when he was sleeping! Despite his unusual choice of noisemaking, Jake is a sweet dog, which makes him the perfect character for a children’s picture book.

Lois is a former high school chemistry teacher and former head science teacher at Science in the City Summer Camp in Philadelphia. She has also been an adjunct science teacher at the University of South Florida.

She has turned some of these tales into plays for children.

She has also created a series of Mermaid Science stories, which make use of water science.

Lois is married to the love of her life. She has two children and four grandchildren, and a dog. She gardens, rides her bike, and tries to save the planet.

And what is this new strange thing that’s trying to share his trail? Kindness, open minds, and aid from loved ones fill this tale with love and compassion.
Looking for Books about Sharing, Disability Awareness, and Facing Fear for Kids?
Jake the Growling Dog Shares His Trail is a fun-loving tale about sharing, finding friendship despite differences, and overcoming fear.
Author and licensed educational counselor, Samantha Shannon, brings Jake back for this third tale about a dog who is different from most other dogs and critters. Even the sweetest and kindest dog can get scared, and sometimes fear makes us do or feel things we wouldn’t normally. We’ve all been protective of something we love or allowed our imaginations to run wild. Jake’s tale not only shows kids that they aren’t alone in having those emotions or worries. The story gives gentle suggestions on handling fears, meeting new friends who might look or act differently, and all while having a blast with their favorite growly character and his furry friends.
Includes Conversation Starters and Fun Activities for Children, Families, Schools, and Counselors to help with sharing, disability awareness, overcoming worries, and more!
This story is packed with loads of fun while also educating our little ones on overcoming fears, sharing, making new friends, and making someone feel welcome. Along with Jake’s story, this picture book also includes talking points to help our kiddos learn how to share, steps to help children squash worries and fears, and tips on how to get to know someone and possibly make a new friend!
Jake’s third book is packed with more interactive fun as kids get to fill in a sharing list, happy list, and even draw their own kindness critter. Kiddos will also have a blast finding all of their critter friends in a full-color find-and-seek page and learning about the kindness critters they spy on each page.
These activities are perfect for families, schools, and counselors to help bring families and friends closer together by encouraging sharing, healthy socio-emotional development and by encouraging awareness and inclusion of others whether they talk, dress, or learn differently or are a person with a disability.
A Positive Story to Promote Self-Confidence and Empathy
Jake’s story encourages children to meet new people and overcome worries and be kind to others who may be different from them. Knowing we live in a world where everyone is different, but we also have a lot in common, which will help create a kinder world, appreciate differences, and find connections. These topics are presented in subtle, sweet, and impactful ways for both young readers and the supportive adults in their lives.

While many kids in grades K-5 (ages 6-11) will be able to read this story independently or with assistance. Parents and grandparents will enjoy reading the story to baby, making it the perfect gift.

Samantha Shannon is a best-selling author and licensed educational counselor who uses her background in education, love for nature and animals, and experience aiding in the emotional social development of children to create fun and impactful books. Samantha has also published multiple books under her pen name, Parker Sinclair, in the fantasy and YA genres.

Samantha’s love for creatures great and small has led her to incorporate animals in all of the books, from eagles to cheetahs! Throughout her life, Samantha’s family has always included a dog, and they’ve always been more than pets. They were fur-brothers, sisters, and babies.

When Samantha had her first child in 2009, she wanted to write a picture book based on her sister’s dog, Jake.

With Samantha’s background in educational counseling, Jake’s first story includes a character education & loving-kindness activity for families, schools, & counselors. Jake’s story speaks to all of us about accepting, and appreciating, the differences in others–both caring attitudes we need in our diverse and beautiful world.
