Mermaid and the Water Magnifying Glass, Mermaid Science, by Lois Wickstrom, is part of an interesting series of books that help the readers see that science is all around them, not just in a classroom. This is the 3rd book I’ve read in this series and I’m completely smitten. These books are not only a fun, fast read that can teach both children and adults about science, but they also have beautifully rendered illustrations, with fun colors and scenes. Trezzie (the mermaid) collects trash people leave on the lake shore. With the help of her friends Maia and Fig they use a plastic fruit box to make a water magnifying glass so they can identify the rocks she found with unusual markings on them. It turns out that the rock is actually a fossil, which gives a great way to open a chat about what fossils are, where they come from, and even animal/ fossil classifications. The author continues to write about easy science experiments/ projects that you can recreate and talk about while having a fun learning experience with children of multiple age levels. I think parents, teachers, and kids alike will love this book and learn from it. The last page goes into more scientific details about the science behind magnifying glasses, so even adults or older children can learn or refresh their knowledge. Do yourself a favor and get this series!

I listened to this via audiobook. Around three hours of listening time, this is a great audiobook. The length is perfect for a day of listening while puttering around the house on summer break. The narrator does amazing character voices! A twenty-year-old crime set against a backdrop of historical tragedy, listeners are drawn into a mystery. I was not expecting the book to wrap up the way it did, so I was pleasantly surprised with the ending.

This is book 1.5 of the Twilight realm trilogy and I was not disappointed. I fell in love with the first book and now I’m in love with the second. I love this authors way of writing. The way she can bring the plot alive and write the characters beautifully. It’s like you are right next to the characters, experiencing everything the same way they are in that moment. This book is for you if you like strong female leads who aren’t afraid to face impossible opponents. I’m excited to see how the author continues this trilogy in the near future.
I really enjoyed this story. I think it’s one of those stories I could reread over and over again. It would definitely make a good “Hallmark Movie” or “Lifetime Movie “. I liked that the author used the language of the characters. I had to do some research on the meaning and pronunciation but it added some authenticity to the story that I really liked. I don’t wanna give anything away so I won’t say exactly what it is but there were little surprises at the end of some of the chapters that I really really enjoyed. I can’t wait to see what Book 2 has in store.

What a cute, educational children’s story! I wish that this book had been around when I was a kid, I was always interested in stories about mermaids and have always had a fascination when it comes to anything related to science. I highly recommend that every parent reads this book to their kid, it definitely teaches you to think differently and might inspire some to become scientists in the future! The book definitely reminds me of the Magic Treehouse series, in that it teaches kids to think differently than a normal children’s book would, even though this is a picture book and the other series is not. I wish that I had kids of my own that I could have read this too, but I did read it to my younger cousin who definitely appeared fascinated by the story. I plan to buy some of the other books for her in the future, and for myself if I am ever to have kids of my own!

Not what I was expecting at all, but a joy to read nonetheless! The story of Bella and Levi is a roller coaster, honking you from the very beginning. Bella, an English aristocrat in hiding, has moved to the country, where the handsome cowboy Levi is charged with keeping her safe. The fact that they are complete opposites make the story hilarious and steamy, making it easy to fall in love with them. I’m definitely excited to read more by this author!

And the characters are wonderful. This book has it all, spooky, funny, steamy. Definitely a great poolside read!

This was my first book by S.F. Benson so I wasn’t sure what I was getting in to. But I loved it! I love strong female main characters and always a huge fan of any type of magic/paranormal story. I also love when an author makes an old childhood fairytale, like Alice in Wonderland, into something more dark and twisted. This is a must read for sure but it leaves you craving the next book!

Very impressed with the second installment in this vampire series. It’s now 70 years later, yet danger still looms. Loving the pace of this book. It was a little quicker, but it really didn’t lack anywhere, and easily keeps the reader engaged. This author brings her characters to life, and you can tell she is very passionate about her writings. I would strongly suggest reading these in order, as they aren’t really standalone novels. I can’t wait to see how Julia develops with time in the next installment.

I enjoyed the fact that one of the main focuses in this book is the relationship between friends. Even with other things going on that was always right at the heart of the book. The book was well thought out with some strong themes running through. This is a newer author to me and I enjoyed thr way the story was crafted. Although I thought it was quite an easy read I also found that it had depth and emotion throughout. This is a great start to a new trilogy and I will definitely be reading book 2.

This is a well written and engaging historical romance that really seemed to draw you in. The author has done an amazing job of creating a vivid picture of what the era could have been like. It was easy to picture everything being described and at times feel like you were there. The characters were engaging and wssy to connect with. They complimented the overall story well and made for an interest read. This is a brilliant example of a historical romance and a must read for any fan of the genre.

If I had to choose one word to describe this book it would be ‘angsty’. If you are me, that’s a good thing. As much as I’d love to have smacked Loukas and Krystina in the head many times, you can’t beat a good angsty book. This is the third book in this great series and having read the first two, I was really looking forward to reading Loukas and Krystina’s story. I had many emotions reading this book. I laughed, I cried, I was exasperated but mainly, I cried. Much of the story is set during the early days of the covid pandemic, a time when I lost my dad to covid, so as much as I loved this book, I did struggle through this part but that is nothing to do with the author’s great story and great writing. That’s totally on me. I absolutely adored Loukas. So many times I wanted to give him a huge hug and tell him it would be alright. Krystina is the character that exasperated me but that’s what made it such a good read. The author has done an amazing job in creating these characters. I also loved that we got to see more of the characters from previous books and see how their lives are progressing. 100% recommend this book.

On her last assignment as a trainee, she was to get information on how to cross the Haltiya Ravine. She succeeded when no other elf did. That put her in the eyes of the King and he personally asked her to continue her spy work into the night realm. As much as she didn’t want to go this path, she couldn’t say no to the king. Yarissa’s plan was to complete the mission and return with the favour of the king. The only obstacle is survival and inexperience. A bad combination indeed.
This book was a great short background story of Yarissa, fitting nicely in between book one and two of this series. My only issue with it is that it was kind of repetitive. It felt like the author was just filling in space to make the story longer.
This is the first book in the First Coast Thriller series. It is a great start to the series. This book is definately one that will keep a reader gripped and on the edge of their seat from start to finish. I loved it. I literally couldn’t put it down and the pace was fast enough that it kept me engaged without missing any details or depth.
This books is a crime Thriller and has so many twists and turns at the reader cannot be sure of what to expect or what the outcome can be. When you mix cartel boats and investigations with the FBI you just know that things are going to be pretty or plain sailing and lives will be on the line.
Our main character Clayton has had a rough time of things. He was part of JSO but he gambling addiction got the best of him and now he’s a repo man. All he wants is to get back into law enforcement and make his family proud. When he is offered that change he grabs for it however it comes at a cost and that cost is crossing dangerous people and putting the family and friends he loves into harms way.

This was a beautiful getaway of a novel. The time travel back to 15th century England and its troubled ways was a change that was needed, and thoroughly enjoyed as I was on vacation. I have read several novels as of late that were based back in 15th-18th century, and this one definitely was all consuming in the words in which were used, the customs we became familiar with, and the emotions of a young lady doing her due diligence to please all those around her, and to fulfill the needs of her people. I especially loved being inside Isabel’s head the night/day after their wedding.
I did find it a little difficult to get into at first, though the author clearly took her time to weave the story so that the reader was able to follow the story more clearly throughout. It kept me guessing as to how closely knit the families within these pages really were, the future of the newlywed, and what it meant for their society and their world. I loved the world-building, character development, and plot line, and would be more than happy to read more by this author in the future!

The Detail is a delightful tension filled quick page turner! Dana has cleverly woven threads to give the reader a complex and drama filled thriller. The intrigue, fear and suspense are palpable. The story is well-written and the plot is clear-cut. The story is a little predictable but I was thoroughly engrossed and invested in it.
The characters have substance are believable you will fall in love with them, well most of them. It is so easy to get caught up in this story to the point of not hearing your husband when he is talking to you. Oops.
Detective Jessica Foster is hunting a ruthless killer and will stop at nothing to get them but it may just get her in a whole lot of trouble if not worse, killed…….

I have to say alien romance was not a thing I thought I’d like but I’ve read a few recently where I was pleasantly surprised. Happy to have dipped my toe into this romance trope recently.
I really enjoyed the enemies to lovers aspect of this book and the way the main characters fought their attraction to each other. As this is sci-fi based I did give the insta-connection a bit of leeway that I wouldn’t have normally enjoyed in a romance, but there were times I did think the connection overriding what the characters wanted and would normally do took it a little too far.
I did love the “trials” aspect that we see here. I thought the fighting was very well done. Not sure how realistic it was for a woman with a description of being around 5 foot to be beating all these preternaturally strong foes, but again, sci-fi; we do what we want.
I overall enjoyed the romance aspect. I didn’t think it was too over the top or that the intimacy was forced. I think both characters came with their own baggage about relationships and making connections, and despite their “soulmate” attraction to one another pushing them to be together they did it on their own terms.
Did not read book 1 and this book does mention quite a bit of stuff about the background of the main characters from book 1, so highly recommend reading it, but I thought the author did a good job sussing out the information here so as to make it enough of a standalone. Obviously easter eggs though as it gives away a lot of information, especially Castor (talkative bugger).
Recommend this for normal alien romance readers and newbies to the trope alike!

This was such a cute book! It reminded me of a sweet romance movie that you might find on TV. This book centers on Levi, a retired Navy Seal, and Bella, a key witness in need of protection. Levi finds the perfect cover for Bella and is “hired” to care for his younger sister after the death of their parents. Levi, Bella, and his siblings quickly form a bond. This great story brought a bit of everything, including suspense and romance. The characters are great and easy to relate to. Levi and Bella help each other heal and grow– which is what love should be about. I am looking forward to reading more from this author and this series!

5 Stars On Viking Seas (The Forerunner Saga Series Book 3) by Jay Veloso Batista
On Viking Seas is the third book in The Forerunner Saga Series and is a epic fantasy that is hard to put down. I truly enjoyed reading this book although I had a hard time following along at first because there is a lot going on but once I got a couple chapters in it flowed better from there on. This is a fairly new author to me although I have read a couple of other books by him this is my favorite yet. This is packed with action, adventure, Vikings, drama, danger and some mythology. I highly recommend reading the first two books if you haven’t already started them as they are just as good as this one and you get a better idea what is going on plus you get to know the characters better. Get ready to be taken on quite the Vikings adventure. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.
