The emotions and development of the characters were good in this book. But I felt there were times that things moved a little too slow, that it had me setting the book down and coming back to it.

First of all, I LOVE “The Last Kingdom” (Netflix show) and anything to do with the history of England and Scotland. So, for me, this book kept me reading, looking for characters that I would know from previous readings/shows/history (for example, Aethelred, Alfred, etc…).
Jay did a TREMENDOUS job describing each person’s perspective on where they were and what was happening around them, as well as how they felt. The way in which he described it all, I couldn’t help but feel for the Agneson clan. To have your family spread all over, never knowing if you would see them again, was heart wrenching. This was a fascinating read. I truly enjoyed reading about the characters’ adventures! Can’t wait to continue the story of the Agneson clan!

The studio where Jordan works is broken into, she fights the attacker, but he gets away. The officer responding to the scene is Officer Summers. The two are delighted to see one another again, and Officer Summers eventually takes Jordan on a date. Soon after the break-in, Jordan discovers she is being stalked by someone. Is her stalker the guy from the break-in or is it someone closer to her?
As a lover of thrillers and romance novels, I have to say this book is top-notch in both categories. It’s an easy read, and Vivian Fiano keeps you guessing. A wonderful job on a book well-written.
Try Right (Aloha Series book 3) by Jill Brashear. This book was so good! Its the story of actress Claudia whose career has dried up. The only part she can get is a bit part in a tv series in Hawaii. She can’t afford to say no and she has other motives for wanting to go to Hawaii other than paying bills. She met her first love in Hawaii 6 years ago and has thought about his everyday since. Henry is a stunt man and has always been fine with not being the leading man until he meets Claudia. He is smitten the moment he sees her walk on set. She’s gorgeous and he will do anything he can for her. When he agrees to help her find her one true love is he opening himself up for the heartache of his life? This book is so fun and retro. Do yourself a favor and read the Aloha Series today!

The SEAL’s Temptation (Wounded Hearts Book 7) by Jacquie Biggar. I LOVE these books. They are all amazing and each time I read one I think its my new favorite and this one was no different. This is the story of DEA agent Maggie Holt who is suffering from PTSD due to being held captive by a drug cartel. Retired Navy Seal Agent Frank Stein just wants to relax after years of being a Chief Petty Officer. He has a ranch and wants to just enjoy his retirement. Maggie thinks this ranch will be the perfect place to recover. Unbeknownst to either of them the drug cartel has moved into the area in the manner of cattle thieves, escaped convicts and drugs. While the two help Maggie recover they are also fighting the cartel and falling for each other. Will Maggie and Frank be able to finally put the cartel to rest and will they make a go of their budding relationship? Read The Seal’s Temptation to find out!

I really love the audio books. I like to be able to plug in my earphones and hear the book and go about my jobs. I love how the narrator is able to accentuate her voice and bring the characters to life. I was able to just drift off into the book and visualize the goings on. I really felt as though I was part of the story.
The characters are really brought to life by the narrator. I was really able to feel all the emotions Adeline was feeling and really routed for her and Stone. It may have started out as a rouse but it all falls into place. I really enjoyed this audio book and will definitely read and/or listen to more from this author.

I got grown up Twilight/True Blood vibes from this story. I did really enjoy this book and found the character development that took place over the course of the book really well done. I especially liked the Jacob and Madison character arc. I could tell that the author had considered each different character arc and how the plotlines would interlink, and this was well thought out. When Emily starts a new school, she meets Zach, brother of the school’s star football player and resident bad boy, and his best friend’s Madison, and Danny and Alex who have just started dating. I liked the supernatural element of this story and am looking forward to each different character’s supernatural abilities being shown more in the next instalment.
This was an enjoyable and engaging read with a friends to lovers storyline set in Hawaii in 1968. I was swept away by this descriptive Hawaiian Retro romance which featured great characters in Claudia and Henry. Although part of a series it can be read as a standalone story, however having read and enjoyed this novel I am looking forward to reading the previous two books in the ‘Aloha’ series. Claudia has gone from being one of Hollywood’s most sought after actresses to having a bit part in a tv series, the only good thing about this is that it’s filmed in Hawaii. Hawaii also happens to be where her first love, a heroic surfer, lives and Claudia is keen to track down her long lost love. Claudia asks Henry, a stuntman on set to help her find the surfer, however Henry doesn’t really want to find him as he’s falling in love with Claudia himself. This is a wonderfully written heartwarming romance story which had me happily turning the pages. The authors descriptive narrative really bought Hawaii in 1968 to life, so much so that I felt fully immersed in the story and could almost feel the Hawaiian heat. Claudia and Henry are likeable and relatable characters who are just meant to be together, but unfortunately Claudia thinks she should be with a surfer she was once in love with. I was cheering them on hoping that they would get their happy ever after and could not put the book down until I had found out whether they did or not. No spoilers, as I recommend reading this novel.

I struggled with this one, and that was difficult for me because I went into it wanting to love love it so much. I have a thing for psychological thrillers and maybe I set a high bar too because of that. This book has a great baseline and wonderful plot to work with. The characters are strong and I could see where I would get the crap scared out of me. However, I found myself struggling because I would find myself needing to go back and reread or rethink areas because some editing was missed and things were just not laid out the way they should have been for that smooth and effortless read that I wanted so badly. I loved the excitement it still contained and could see myself giving it another read if it was tweaked and re-edited in the future. For me I will go with a solid three stars for now though.

I was excited to get my hands on this book the moment I saw the cover. I am a sucker for bright and enticing covers that draw me in before I even read the blurb. I have never read anything by Jill Brashear before and I think this was the perfect start for me to experience her writing. This was a fun read and even though it was the third in the Aloha Series I was able to read it with no issues. I will be going back to read the rest now that I have loved this one so much though. This one is set in 1968 in Hawaii and is so beautiful to read. I felt as if I was propped up with my fav drink on the beach watching the adventure unfold before me as the waves crashed on the shore in front of me. The way Brashear describes her scenes really pulls you in and makes you experience everything first hand. I liked the unique spin on a second chance love story. I am so excited to see what will come next!

Jill Brashear Try Right: A Friends to Lovers Romance (Aloha Series Book 3)
This was a super cute and well written story. I have not read the two previous books in this series of stand alones, but I will for sure go do that.
I fell in love with her style of writing and love how she portrayed her characters and scenes so realistically. Henry is such a gem and stand up guy and Claudia is so relatable with striving to be strong, independent, and yearns to be taken seriously. I love how they balance each other out so well but still have their faults- characters can’t be perfect! She even nailed the personalities of other side characters in the book; spoiler, men can be sleazy.
The scenes she sets are wonderful and descriptive and not too wordy. I’ve never been on a movie set or to Hawaii but Jill paints a clear picture that is easy to visualize. The plot is fun, not too predictable, and keeps you interested from start to finish.
I would definitely recommend reading this book on vacation so you don’t have any interruptions!

Try Right is the third book in the Aloha series by Jill Brashear. This is my first book by Ms. Brashear, so I really didn’t know what to expect going in- but am happy to report that she is a wonderful storyteller and weaves a great story. Again, as I seem to be doing a lot lately, I have jumped into a series on book three- and while this book was very enjoyable without knowing what happened in the previous two books- I am definitely interested in going back to ‘meet’ the other characters and find out what happens there. The book is set against the tropical and picturesque backdrop of Hawaii. There is a retro historical element to the story too, as it is set in 1968. This fact definitely added an extra element of interest to the story. We follow Claudia, a movie star trying to reinvigorate her career, and Henry the stuntman working on her latest set. Claudia is trying to recapture her past, and Henry has agreed to help. But along the way the lines of friendship begin to blur- and maybe recapturing her past isn’t so important anymore. A sweet friends-to-lovers romance, with a little drama, plenty of chemistry, and a dash or two of angst…. just to keep things interesting. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

This might be my favorite story yet! I would definitely read these books in order, especially with this book there are many characters that you will want to know about and understand. I love Lark, he is my top favorite character from the series so far, his pranks and spirit are so beautiful. I am so happy that him and Jaru got together and could build on the friendship they already had. Watching their relationship develop as well as Lark getting a surprise he didn’t think he would ever have for himself was so sweet. The way Soren loves Lark too just makes me so happy. This author is so creative and amazing with the storylines and characters, I can’t get enough. The relationship between Oren, Teviel and Jaru and then the relationship between Jaru, Lark and Soren, seems a bit complex, but it all works and is so beautiful. I can’t wait to see what comes next!

I Will Bury Youby Brandy Nacole is a YA thriller- a bit of a mystery with murder, family secrets, lies, discovery, crime and investigation, and drama. The story has an interesting premise, and I couldn’t wait to dive in- but unfortunately the many editing issues really detracted from my enjoyment of the story (in my Verified Purchase Kindle copy- from Amazon Australia). With a little tweaking and attention, this story really could be stellar- but as it is, it fell short for me. But, as the story is geared towards a younger audience, maybe they won’t see the issues, or have the same problems I have had reading this book. I really did want to love this book and I am sorry that I didn’t. Maybe next time.

On Viking Seas is the third book in The Forerunner Series by Jay Veloso Batista. This is an epic fantasy- with plenty of adventure, action, history, (Norse) mythology, Vikings, hidden agendas, paranormal beings and elements, danger, drama, challenges, revenge, curses, and more. There was so much going on in this story, and so many characters (most with difficult to pronounce names to try to remember) that at times this story got quite confusing. I didn’t realise going into this story that it is book three in the series, so I think I would have fared better if I had read the other two books first before starting on this one. I have gone back and purchased books one and two- and plan on reading them soon. So, hopefully knowing what transpired in those first two books will shed this book in a better light. I can tell that the author is very passionate about the subject matter and his stories, and it apparent that he put a lot of blood, sweat, heart, soul, and research into his work- which resulted in the rich and vibrant picture he painted that allowed his story to come to life. But with so much going on, and so many different POV’s to get my head around, and the many difficult names to remember really made for a confusing and ‘choppy’ read for me. I did settle into it more as the story unfolded, so maybe I will feel better about this story once I have read the other two books. So stay tuned. But if you like epic fantasy, with plenty of different situations, motivations, and threads- then this is definitely the book for you.

WOW– this series just gets better and more addictive with each new release. Key West Dead is the gripping new instalment in the Jake Wolfe series by Mark Nolan. I know I keep saying this, but I really can’t get enough of this series- and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of joining Jake and Cody on one of their exciting ‘adventures’- no pressure, Mr. Nolan, but I hope you’ve got many more exciting adventures for Jake, Cody, and their many ‘friends’ to negotiate, because I have a slight addiction and need a regular ‘fix’ to keep me going- so a regular ‘supply’ for the foreseeable future would be excellent, thanks! 😊 This story could be read as a standalone- but as there are recurring characters, as well as other important details that help to build a bigger picture, I would recommend reading the other books first, before embarking on this adventure as knowing what has happened previously, and how much Jake and Cody have been through together- will greatly enhance your reading experience of this story. This time Jake and Cody are pitted against a psychotic bomber who is hell bent on a demented agenda… and taking out Jake and Cody in a fiery inferno just became his top priority- the perfect ‘icing’ on his deadly plot. Will Jake and Cody manage to outwit their deadly adversary long enough to take him down, as well as keeping their friends safe in the process? This is definitely worth the read to find out!! I could go on and on about every little detail of this fantastic book- but instead I will sign off here so you can grab yourself a copy and dive in asap- highly recommended! This was an emotional book, full of the realities of life and the unfamiliarities of growing up. The illusive Flynn and small-town Valerie have obvious chemistry and attraction, throughout the emotional rollercoaster that is this story. So wonderful to return to The Broken Bow and the amazing characters that make up the nearby town! Loved reading about Rayna, Thomas and Mason! In Plain Sight differed from the usual romance storyline but that just helped to build the characters and the setting – something different but wonderful. Would definitely recommend this whole series!

I fell into this series on accident and I’ve really enjoyed the fall. Stumbling onto this series, each story just gets better and better – pulling me in deeper and deeper. So naturally, when I found this book, I had high hopes. I’m so in love with this series, the characters and how each story just yanks you in and ‘Sure as Hell’ is no different. I’m a sucker for romance novels – gender has never mattered to me. It has always been about the story telling and the character development. The only thing I got confused by reading this is I wasn’t sure who I was cheering for. It seemed each character had multiply partners and I wasn’t too sure who’s love story I was reading. But even though I’m not familiar with a multi partner love story – I still really enjoyed the journey this story took me on.

Spiteful Punks is a dark and intense read that may be a trigger for some but if you can push through it really is a great book. I was drawn in from the beginning and kept me turning the pages till the end. There was a couple of times I wanted to jump in and help Tillie but she truly is a strong woman., Badass really. Tillie’s life has pretty much been pure hell since her uncle died and her dad has tortured her for years. She’s been through lots of pain but what happens when she escapes t and tries to start over somewhere else? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

So I love paranormal stories so I was ready to dive into this one, I really enjoyed the plot. I really like the whole moving to a new town trope and obviously, Zach is the first to catch Emily’s eye and things begin, the story is full of teenage drama and honestly, I love it. I really enjoyed the writing and I can’t wait to see what the author does next.
Spiteful Punks – Dolls and Douchebags part one by Madeline Fay is not a book for the feint hearted but I cannot wait to read part 2. It left so many questions unanswered. Poor Tillie has not had a great start to life, brought up in the clutches of the MC her father runs, she is forced into acts that she never wants any part of and is repeatedly broken down by those around her. When she finally gets a chance to escape she is brought to the door of 4 men who may be just as dangerous as the one that she left behind. Tillie is a strong character and I really hope that she gets the break she deserves in the next part. I would recommend this book to those who like a dark read, but there are trigger warnings so readers need to be mindful of that.

I enjoyed this historical romance story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites yet so far. This is the fifth book in this series but can be read as a standalone but I highly suggest reading the previous books as they are that great. This is a well written story that pulled me in from the beginning. It is a fast paced story about Jane who is twenty-five and determined to find love and marriage by the end of the season. Then you have Alexander who has been okay with no one until now. Now that he has started looking for a partner in marriage, he runs into Jane. But fate has put a criminal in the path and now they find themselves imprisoned but once freed they go their own ways. What will fate have in store for them? Will they find their way back to each other and still have the same feelings? I enjoyed watching them grow throughout this story. They bring life and make the story entertaining to read. I am glad I picked up this book and highly recommend it.

I enjoyed this book. This is the fourth book in this series which I highly suggest reading from the beginning as they are that great. They are relatable and truly made the story for me. This is a fast paced story about romance, revenge, family and loyalty. It is also engaging and entertaining to read. Wow!! I finished this book a couple days ago and needed to think about it a bit before I came to write this review. This is my first book by this author and I was more than pleasantly surprised. I have since checked out her other books and will absolutely be reading some of those. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, I went in blind so had no idea what I was in for. It would have been very simple to get really confused about what was happening but the way this author put it all together had me figuring it out quickly and made it very easy to follow. What I didn’t figure out was the ending… It came on quite quickly and had my mind all over the place thinking back to things that happened throughout the book. That was well played and even had me doing some googling when I finished LOL
I completely enjoyed every word of this book and can not wait to read more from this author.

I really enjoyed this love story. It was full of emotion and the author does a great job of building the characters and describing the place they are in.
Claudia is an actress. After a mistake which has made her career take a downward turn she finds herself sent to Hawaii to work. Last time she was in Hawaii she met someone who made her feel alive so even though the production she’s working on isn’t the best she lefts with hopes to rekindle that romance.
What she doesn’t plan for is Henry.
Henry is a stuntman on the production she is working on. He’s not her normal type she goes for but the chemistry between them is electric and instant.
Can Claudia forget about her old love and embrace this new chance at love? Are they as perfect as they seem? What will happen with Claudia’s production ends? And will a stupid bet Henry was forced into ruin everything between them?

Whenever you pick up a Phoebe Alexander book you know you are in for a good read, well with this series you are gifted with five wonderful characters and stories.
This series follows five friends from college who over the years had grown apart but have now recently connected back up in Philadelphia. Each book contains one of the friends and there wacky and hilarious relationships and eventually to the end goal and find love in their lives.
A-Hole follows the ups and down of Ace and the story how he found love with Elle, The Big O recounts the hilarious story of Ozzy and the encounters with Hazel. The next juice story involves Dante and Julia in Need the D, with Hard F following Fox and Jenna and not forgetting the last of the bunch Cruz and Mia in Ride the C.
Each story offers and insight into the lives of these wonderful characters and each book is the size of novella so you can read one in minutes, I read the whole series in a day and enjoyed every word written. Each character is different but the same in ways and with the hilarious things they get up to and the chemistry between not just the relationships but the friends is heart warming. Although they are short stories you never feel cheated in the stories although you are always left wanting more from the brilliant author.

When your whole life has been in darkness can a light seep through the cracks and blast through the darkness, that’s the hope Lexi is looking for.
Lexi has had a dark past, full of hurt and evil but as she is trying to piece her life together she stumbles upon someone who could ignite to spark that has been buried so deep she feels she may have lost forever. Until Lucca walks into her office and then all bets are off.
Lucca is not particular looking for the one but when he walks into the physiotherapists office that day he did not know that it would change his life forever and meet the woman of his dreams.
This series is in three stages like a play, the first book introduces us to Lexi and the hideous life she has been through until this time and you truly cry inside for this woman, with her feeling so closed off and existing not living until one day Lucca walks in and then her feelings change. The story is pretty fasted pace from then, there relationship is in warp speed and very sexual which was a joy to read.
The stories were well written and I am glad I got to read them one after the other and fully appreciate the chemistry burning between these two character was a pleasure to read. As each book progress you get to see more into this beautiful couple and slowly see the boundaries that Lexi had built up breakdown with each confidence and trust she has with Lucca. I also loved that although through the first two books we see it from the prospective of Lexi the third book is written in Lucca’s prospective and is a brilliant counter to the thoughts and feelings you read within the page of the first two books.
This is the first books I have read from this author and would love to read more of them in the future.

When you are in slump and decide to take an adventure to find your lost lost but fate has a funny way of catching up with you.
Claudia is in a funk in her career as an actress, belle of the ball a few years ago she was at the top of her career then a couple of years later she is like kryptonite nobody wants her, so when an opportunity of a job comes along she jumps at the chance plus it will take her back to the island and the one that got away. Although she is not prepared of what happens when she arrives.
Henry is good at his job, he steps in to help out the leading man when there is a dangerous stunt and he has never wanted to be the celebrity he is happy in the shadows until this day in she strolls onto the set with that outfit and instantly Henry is attracted to her, but will she be attracted to him the stuntman.
I loved this story the slow burn of the main characters was a dream to read, I sometimes feel the authors rush bringing to people together but this was poetry. The instant chemistry and banter between these two was excellent reading and with such a well developed story you will be delving into their world with every word written. I feel for Henry straight away and have yet another book boyfriend to add to the very extensive list, although I had not read the series and this was my first book it flowed brilliantly and the author gave you enough information to follow the characters and story as a stand alone book. I can’t read more from this series and this author in the future.

When Jake and Sarah are attending a wedding of an brother in arms, they get more fireworks than the wedding itself. Can Jake find the person blowing up boats or will he kill more people?
Jake and Sarah are attending one of Jake’s military buddies wedding and they decide to hire a boat for the weekend, with their trust friend Cody will the trio enjoy a lovely get away or will it end up in disaster.
While in the ceremony they discover that a few of his fellow vets have received death threats and Jake’s sense become alert as he feels that something is not right and that he feels something bad is about to happen, but on the way back to the boat they befriend a couple and walk them back to their boat, within minutes the whole atmosphere changes and Jake is drawn into a murder investigation. Can he find out who is blowing up all these boats, can he locate the bombs with his trust bomb dog Cody or will the killer escape.
This is the first story I have read by this author and I loved it, the twists and turners have you wrestling to uncover who the killer and the bomber is with piecing the clues along the way. I loved that the ne character is a dog and a very intelligent dog, the research that must have gone into the book is fascinating and brilliant to understand these brilliant creatures was absolutely amazing.
I loved the character of Jake and the interaction with his friends was a great read, the banter was a great light relief to a hard hitting storyline and with an excellent and well written story draws you further into the story page by page. I can’t wait to start this series from the beginning, although this can be read as a stand alone story I would like to get to know where Jake and Cody’s bond comes from and how Jake met Sarah and get to understand more that relationship.
