This YA fantasy was beautifully written. The author does a wonderful job telling the tale in a way that you feel like you personally know the characters. Our main character, Zach, is a normal teen and has normal problems. Until one day he finds out that there are even bigger things for him to face. I love the universe the author has created with these characters. Everything felt tangible and relatable. Just a fun fantasy read with a fairy tale twist. Loved it. Reviewed by @heatherlovelace

I was unprepared for the journey the author took me on through these pages. This thriller left me riveted, holding my breath with anticipation with every suspense filled plot point. Amman is a masterful storyteller that draws the reader in immediately with every book she writes. Something in this book rang particularly true. Maybe it is because it seems to speak so clearly and almost relate directly back to personal details about the author. Regardless whether it is meant to parallel or not, I found Leda to be a wonderful character and I was immediately invested in knowing more about her and her journey. Loved it from beginning to end!

The Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells was suspenseful, mysterious, and creative. Main character Talmon is hired to keep an eye on someone working on a new resort. Little did he know that his employers have ulterior motives. He is pulled into something he is very unsure of in the process after a mysterious death leads to revealed secrets.
Talmon himself seemed to be an interesting and knowledgeable character. I felt that he had a decent control on his PTSD and I enjoyed the tid bits mentioned of his childhood. The story had a great storyline and every setting was descriptive and engaging. I enjoyed reading this novel and all its characters. Easily a 5-star read.

Tainted Saint was a great 5 star read and book #5 in the Hawke Family. I was pulled in once again by Gwyn McNamee’s writing, I couldn’t put it down until I was done.
Saint and Caroline were great, you could feel their connection coming of the pages. Saint works security in the clubs and Caroline is a reporter. When she goes to a masquerade party she believes she has anonymity but Saint knows who she is. Will their one night turn into more? Or will Saint continue to feel like he’s not good enough?
Overall this is a thrilling edge of your seat read with some steamy moments as well. The secondary characters were great as usual. You can read this book as a stand alone but I highly suggest reading the series so you can’t connect better with the characters. I can’t wait to read more from Gwyn and this series.

Could you live with so much danger surrounding you? To always look over your shoulders. Talmon lives a dangerous life when he begins working. There are so many lies and secrets. Will things become clearer as Talmon unravels the past? I really liked Talmons character. He didn’t give much away. He cared deeply for those he brought into his circle. The author surprised me when I started reading this story. I didn’t picture this at all when I read the description. I really enjoyed this book. It could be a really great series of Talmon surviving life. Doing all those odd jobs.

The Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells was a suspenseful, thrilling read, that had me hooked.
My first read from this author, I went in with an open mine, and man oh man, I’m glad I gave this book a chance. Thick with mystery, twist, turns, and an ending that will have you going.. what!, this book, though low on the page count, packs a mean punch, and one that will leave you wanting more.
Talmon, our MC, was a complex, multi layer character, that brought this story to life. Told in his POV, you get the intimate workings of his mind, and struggles. I felt it, and could also pass this character on the street. That believability, for me, made this story more than just your typical thriller.
Overall this story will keep you on your toes, full of misdirections and compelling characters, it will no doubt get under your skin. So yes, this book gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

These five quick lustful temptation and seductive stories will have you begging for more. Each story revolves around a different troupe from friends-to-lovers to a paranormal (that has me wanting to re-read a series). I did find myself needing a cold shower after reading this – naughty and sexy don’t cover how HOT some scene were. L.M. Mountford, you are the “Lord of Lust”. I would like to see Just Once and Valentine’s Adventure made into full-length books, Please!!

The Immigrant: An Italian in America is the seventh book in Gaia B. Amman’s Italian Saga. The saga follows Leda from her childhood through to, in this book, her move to America to do graduate research. Leda is a charming character, and very entertaining to watch growing up. From her perspective, we get a (sometimes brutally) honest observation of the world around her. In this book, what particularly stands out is her bafflement at many aspects of American life and culture (a fair few I can relate to from my visits to the States!). I was amused by the account of the often excessively complicated experience of immigration. With the move, we leave behind the many familiar characters who we’ve seen develop throughout the series. After Leda’s mum and Sergio wave her off at the airport, we are introduced to a host of new characters as we join Leda in making a new start in America. Dr Scrui stands out for me – sometimes seeming intelligent and controlling, at others observant and caring. I’ve not read the series in order, and I think there’s enough background for a reader to join the series at this point if they’re mainly interested in a story focusing on experiences of immigration. But the earlier books are lovely and add depth to the characters. For me, this is a five star book and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series (as well as going back and catching up on the ones I’ve missed!).

That’s a Wrap (Paranormal Talent Agency Book 3) by Heather Silvio was a great addition to the series. This paranormal romantic suspense kept me on the edge of my seat trailing along with the mysterious events and suspenseful actions that are ever present in this series. I enjoy how the author brings pieces of the previous stories overlapping into the next, yet at the same time creates a completely new story. This entire series has been a great read, but I thoroughly enjoyed this character pair up between Mia and Jacob. From humor to hijinks and more, That’s a Wrap had a little bit of everything in it’s episode. The character imagery and interactions were entertaining, along with the drama created a thrilling read.

Impact is Book 4, and the final book in the Twisted Hearts Love Story series by Autumn Sand and is my favorite of them all! Each book tells of a different alpha-male that is somehow connected to a mob family within New York and their fall for strong willed, independent, confident women. Each male has skeletons in the closet, and each female is in some form of distress. Book 4 tells us about Manny, (Manuel) his very unfortunate upbringing, his climb from criminal to legitimate, his love woes, and then finally his happily ever after. We meet him briefly in the 3 previous books, but not enough to label him anything more than mysterious, and dangerous. I felt like we get to know Manny on a much more personal level than any of the characters in previous books, and so was much more connected and in tune to his feelings and hardships, success and victories. I loved the way this book jumped from past to present to past to present, showing us who he is now and what happened in the past to make him that person. I felt like this story had more ups and downs, more action, and overall was better written. I literally couldn’t put it down!! I highly recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5 stars!

Brandi Elledge does an amazing job the the Wheel of Crowns series and The Vampire Queen is by far my favorite. This story has everything to make this an awesome paranormal story: witches, werewolves, magical creatures, but the best of them all is the vampire. In this book, we read about Tandi a newly turned vampire who is just trying to fit in. There are layers to her and I love her story, especially when Stephen enters into the picture. Stephen is an ancient vampire price who has taken Tandi to assist her to become a vampire a little less confusing. That lasted until the Queen of Vampires wants Stephen for herself. Will Tandi become a great vampire with the help of Steven or will the Vampire Queen interfere?

Demon’s Angel: Satan’s Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) #2 by Manda Mellett. I really enjoy this series. This is Demon’s story who has had to move to Colorado to protect a young woman named Violet. Demon is the President of the Colorado Chapter of Satan’s Devils and he has just found out about his past in the previous books. This is a standalone but I do think it will help if you’ve read the previous books. This story revolves around Demon and Violet. Demon was best friends with Violets brother, Nathan and promised him he would always look out for her even though she had a horrible crush on him and drove him crazy. Now that Violet has gotten herself in a mess he feels responsible for her and his feelings are different towards her. She’s grown now and beautiful and has a son who Demon wants to protect not only for the promise he made Nathan but because his feelings are changing towards her. Violet believes he still thinks of her only as a sister. Will Demon confess to Violet his real feelings for her before its too late and will he save her and her son from her ex? This book will keep you on your toes and have you thinking about it long after you’ve finished.

I enjoyed this story from start to end. It just might be my favorite yet from this author. It is a story about Leda who decides to travel to America for a year cause as she says, “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for”. She is a great character that brought this story to life for me. A great read about mystery. Talmon is a war veteran just looking for a job. When he answers and ad in the paper, he gets more than he bargains for with an investigation into boat owner and resort builder Rusty Wing. Living on the marina, he makes friends with Rusty and is lead on an adventure of twists and turns and dangers. Can he find out the truth before things get too complicated? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Talmon trying to make something of his life despite his struggles or Rusty as a sophisticated businessman but with his cares and worries underneath. Great cast f supporting characters like the strong and stubborn Marlene or the sweet Claire. I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with its vivid sense of colour bright and bold and wonderful like the pink flamingo under the sun amongst the sand dunes beautifully written in a sense of beauty and wonder. Or the bay with its deep blue waters and white sand for the sense of peace Talmon feels out on the sea. Or the bright colours of the painting and Marlene’s tattoo, both beautiful and sorrowful at the same time wonderfully written. The first person narrative worked well to display Talmons struggles and his search for answers. The use of suspense was wonderfully done, with details slowly revealed to make you keep reading to find it what happened. Also loved the sense of foreboding from the start making you want to read on to see if something bad does happens. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

Wild Bastard by India Kells A Dark Sparrow Novel My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
A great follow up to Cold Bastard. In this book we meet Kai and Izzy. I was so hoping for their story and my dreams came true. This book is a nice mix of romance and suspense, so it will have you engrossed the whole way through.
Kai’s father is a douche and Kai will stop at nothing to bring his father’s company down while also dealing with this feelings for Izzy. Izzy was brought in to help bring Kai’s father’s business down but at the same time her past secrets are revealed. Izzy is a strong woman, and her personality had me loving her from the very beginning. I do wish Kai and Izzy were not in so many compromising situations, or I could see them together quicker, but then we wouldn’t have a great story right?
Second chance romance is one of my top favorite genres, so this book was perfect and everything I wanted for Izzy and Kai. I would recommend reading to find out if Izzy and Kai can make it through all of this drama. This book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you start from the beginning. This author never disappoints.

This series is incredible and each book I read amazes me at the wonderful story the author weaves. Each book is incredibly different, yet they each tie into one another. Orlagh is such a wonderful lead character. A strong woman, she knows what she must do and does what has to be done. The secondary characters are also wonderful. I hope to see more of them in future books.
If you like a story of myth and magic expertly written, this book and series is for you.

What a brilliant introduction to Carrie Pulkinen. This book has everything from romance, suspense, mystery and fantasy themes weaved throughout. I was captivated with this read from start till finish and couldn’t put it down. This author has an excellent writing style, it has been written extremely well and flows effortlessly from chapter to chapter. This author has created a read that is mentally visual the whole time you are reading, he has created two characters that are perfect for each other, they have chemistry, they are real and really make this story what it is, I loved how they meet and then the connection that develops with them over time. Everything about this book pulled you in and it’s a read that shouldn’t be missed! I highly recommend this read to all, I will defiantly be looking forward to reading more books from this author and books in this series until then do not miss this read!

Good Lord, heart race a million miles a minute much! This was a short read yet packed full of adventure, danger, heat, Love, more danger, and OMG moments, it made it feel like a much longer book.
Ive read many many books by Miss McNamee and this one was so completely different then what I am used to and at first my jaw was on the floor then I found myself at 45% and realized it was moving too fast so I put it down because I didnt want it to end and I knew if I kept reading Id be done in no time because it is that good! I was right I picked it back up and was done before I knew it. This was darker than Im used to from this author but it worked perfectly.
The writing style of this author is unmatched and it obviously doesnt matter what genre she writes she is amazing. Although I will admit I might or might not have said some not so nice words at the end of this book leaving me with a sort of love / hate confused feeling. Ive got so many questions and I need the next one now! I have to know where this story is going and I highly recommend everyone read this.

I have been eagerly waiting to read the third instalment to this series and I was not disappointed at all! Again it was another amazing 5 star read and one that I loved reading from beginning to end. I adored Tandi – she was a fantastic character. She made me laugh and I wasn’t expecting that from a paranormal story, I loved the fact that she wasn’t very good at being a vampire! I loved the forbidden kind of romance feel to the story; it almost felt a little fairy tale like in parts which I LOVED!! The Prince of Vampires – oh my gosh was he hot or what? Even I wanted to be a vampire!! I loved the attraction between them and the storyline that came from this attraction! I loved the twists and turns in the story – absolutely fantastic read! I thought that book 2 was my favourite in the series but now I cannot make up my mind between that one and this book! This really was a fantastic read and I cannot recommend it highly enough! I think it’s safe to say Ms Elledge is definitely one of authors to go to for great paranormal reads and I cannot wait to read more form her again in the future.

Perfectly Played is an angsty second chance romance by Holly Kerr. The story was quite a clever idea, with lots of drama to keep the tension at a high level. The angst, push-pull, assumptions, miscommunication, and misunderstandings which added to the drama, was quite frustrating. There were several moments where I wanted to shake some sense into both of our MC’s.
Flora Shaughnessy owns her own flower shop, “Fleur”. She’s in Vegas to finally marry her long-time boyfriend. On the way down the aisle, she has a realization that prompts her to turn and run- right into an innocent bystander. Little does she know that fate has plans for them, but right now all she wants to do is find the nearest bar and drown her sorrows. With her two best friends in tow, they begin a wild night that will take them on a bit of an adventure. And Flora will find herself in the arms, and bed, of a handsome stranger- before waking up to an empty bed. But fate isn’t done with them yet. And so the angst, drama, and hilarity ensue.
It took me quite a while to connect with the characters. They were really well developed, interesting and likeable- but the drama, indecision, and miscommunication really made it difficult to connect with them because there was so much of it. I felt that a lot of the drama was added just for the sake of it. For me, the story would have worked even better, with less drama. But having said that, I did enjoy the story, reading it in one sitting just so I could find out how everything tied together in the end.

Burson has a unique voice and way of storytelling that is engaging and thought provoking. I have actually read this series out of order (unintentionally) and am glad to finally see how it all begins. This page turner had a bit of a slow start at the very beginning but quickly picked up pace and set the stage for a great story and great series. Very enjoyable.

If you haven’t picked up this series yet you need help. This story is just as entertaining as the rest. The author has done an amazing job keeping the characters and plots from repeating. You can feel the time and attention the author put growing each character. Omit get socially awkward when put in the spot. Mia has really caught my attention. She seem like the type of I would like to party with. I’m starting to get jealous of all these leading ladies. The author has created women that do what’s needed to survive. Hiding amongst humans with no detection for hundreds of years. I love that not every character is a vampire or werewolf. Everyone is different and unique.

Misfortune of Vision (Druid’s Brooch #4) by Christy Nicholas was an engaging, intriguing read, that had me left wanting more.
Every time I read a book in this series, I love it even more. As they don’t follow a conclusive timeline you can read them out of order. This book was just as detail oriented, compelling, mysterious and solid. I loved how the MC was older, mature and experienced. It was a risk, and for me it was a well placed one that enhanced not only this story, but this series. Taking place in 1177, this story has that rare look into the past, and you can tell that care and research went into making this read as authentic as possible. The added touch of religion against our MC, really brought home how powerful the church was then, and it’s influences.
Overall this book, this series, is worth the read, and it gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Death and the Crone by Megan Mackie is the third book in the Lucky Devils series. This is a book with a cool twist to the typical YA paranormal story. Margaret is an older, homeless woman who has been burned many times. She is invited to a strangers house and does not expect that she will live the night. The story is interesting and kept me reading to find out what would come of Margaret and the mysterious stranger. I have read the other books in the series but I believe this could be enjoyed without having read them first. The story is set in Chicago but with a paranormal twist. The idea of the familiar but unfamiliar all at once leads to an interesting background for this book and the others. The characters are also interesting and break some of the molds of the genre. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Death and the Crone: Book Three of the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie
Death and the Crone is the third Book in the Lucky Devil Series and a book I couldn’t put down once I started reading . I do recommend reading the first two books in this series if you haven’t already as some of the characters cross over from the previous stories.This story is very well written and the characters are very well developed and I found them to be creative as well. Margaret is a woman who is homeless and doesn’t feel wanted and really has no hope.What happens when an attractive man invites her to his home? What could he possibly want with her? Who is he? What will her future hold? Read this book to find out what happens next. I recommend reading this book/series. I look forward to seeing what this Author has for us next.

Heather Silvio has written another great paranormal meets human story. This is one of those books where you can’t put it down. This is a short, full length story that will, hit all of your emotions. I have laughed, cried and even got mad. Her characters are perfect for this story. So much happening to those in this story. All of which, I can only say, No Spoilers here. Just get the book, sit down and read on. Make sure to read the series in order.

Demon’s Angel in the Colorado Chapter series by Manda Mellett is a awesome addition to the series of Satan’s Devils MC series. I thought Manda Mellett first series of Satan’s Devils was excellent and could not get any better, BUT I was wrong. I love the story of Demon and Violet. Demon promised that he would look over Violet when her brother died. Violet was a young woman who has feelings for Demon but he was looking after her. She left and Demon thought his protection was no longer needed. Violet returned with a baby boy in tow. Demon feels like he needs to watch over Violet and her son. There is a little problem VIolet still has feeling for Demon and Demon has feelings for VIolet. Will Demon and VIolet keep their feelings to themselves? Will Violet keep her son safe? I had to read the story to find out these answers and I encourage you to read it as well.

The Vampire Queen (Wheel of Crowns Book 3) by Brandi Elledge

If it was possible to give this book 10 stars I definitely would. The Vampire Queen is a phenomenal paranormal read that had me sitting on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I loved Tandi from her first appearance so I can’t even describe how happy I was when I found out she had her very own story. She’s my favourite character of the series which also makes this book my favourite so far, which is saying something because I loved the first two.
Tandi’s story is just as action-packed and detailed as the first two books but with the added bonus of her sarcastic and witty humor which had me laughing out loud.
This is a book I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for their next paranormal read!

Murder Among Friends by Linda Burson is book full of twists and turns and one that will have you hooked from start to finish. I enjoyed reading this authors Rage series and couldn’t see how she could possibly top that. However this book definitely does! I loved this book even more. The characters were brilliant. I really really enjoyed reading about Cammy. I felt like I could connect with her so easily and relate to what she was going through about needing a break from her life – who hadn’t felt like that at some point?? The overall this book was intriguing and I sure to have you on the edge of your seat. A very good book and one certainly worth your time.
