Marked for Death (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 6) by Amy McKinley – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Marked for Death (Gray Ghost #6)Marked for Death by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Marked for Death is the 6th book in the Gray Ghost series by Amy McKinley. I love this series, and while each can be read as a stand alone, you should read them all. The characters overlap, but each couple has their own story that focuses on them and their past. This is Keegan’s story. I’m going to keep the review short, as to not have any spoilers. Keegan has hidden much of his past, in part to try to forget it, and part to protect his new family and team. He hasn’t been to Venezuela in over 15 years, but a rescue mission takes him back. As if fate took over, he crosses paths with Kara, a girl from his past, and the only he has ever loved. Kara always found comfort in Keegan (then Max), and he was her protector. The introduction of Kara and her daughter has thrown a huge monkey wrench in Keegan’s mission. He must find a way to keep her safe, while still completing his mission and keeping his team safe. Which turns out to be easier said than done.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Marked for Death by Amy McKinley is the sixth book in the Gray Ghost series. These can be read as standalone stories but I recommend reading in order. Each has characters which carry over from story to story. This is about Keegan who is on a rescue mission in Venezuela. He has tried to not go to this country and has a past he’d like to forget. His mission is interrupted by Kara who has an overlapping mission but is not there to help him or his crew. The two met before and they quickly remember their past. This has action, adventure, and suspense with lots of romance to keep it steamy. This is a great read to get away for a bit. I also love the familiar faces of the past popping up in the story.

Marked for Death (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 6) by Amy McKinley is another great addition to this series and another prime example of why Amy is such a good writer. While this can be read as a standalone, I strongly suggest that you start reading from the beginning, that way you get all the backstories and get to know the characters and the family of the Gray Ghost team. This new gripping instalment starts with the action, suspense and thrills right from the start and continues throughout. Marked for Death is a romantic suspense story that is full of drama and violence, mystery and intrigue, danger and twists and plenty of palpable emotions that pop off the page. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time whilst devouring page after page just to know what was happening.

You can never go wrong when getting a book written by Amy, so get started today.

This is the sixth book in this series, I loved it just as much as the previous books. This can be read as a stand alone but I highly suggest reading the entire series as they are that good. This is a well developed story that is creative. The author’s attention to detail made me feel as if I was right there with the characters. Keegan and Kara make the story engaging and kept me turning pages. The secondary characters are supportive and just as engaging. Keegan and his team were hired to rescue Americans when they came across Kara. Kara realizes that they are on a similar mission but will happen when she realizes that she knows Keegan? What will she do when she finds that her feelings for him haven’t left? What will happen to their mission? They are my favorite characters and I loved their chemistry. I highly recommend reading their story to see if survival is part of the mission.

Marked for Death (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 6)
By Amy McKinley
5 out of 5 stars

The story Marked for Death (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 6) by Amy McKinley is a romantic suspense book. It is the next amazing book in an awesome series that I love reading. It pulls you in right from the beginning and doesn’t let you go until the final page. The story has action, danger, and romance. I loved reading about the characters of Keegan Hunt and Kara Median. Keegan is part of a team sent on a mission to Venezuela. Even though he has spent years avoiding the country, he hopes for a quick mission and easy return. Then he finds the one person who haunts his dreams, Kara. Kara is part of a team sent on a mission with almost the same objective. She also finds herself face to face with the one man who she can’t deny an attraction to. With their mission shifting, can Keegan rely on Kara for help? What does the future hold for Kara and Keegan? Will they make it out of Venezuela alive? Read this book to find out. This story is a page-turner that had me on the edge of my seat wondering what is going to happen next. The sparks/chemistry between Keegan and Kara make the temperature in the room rise. I love that the other characters have been brought forward from the previous books and it feels like you are reconnecting with friends. The story is thrilling, suspenseful, and when I get to the last page I always wishing for a few more chapters. This is a story and series I would highly recommend reading.

Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 5) by Amy McKinley – Review by Makaela Patterson

When I decided to read this book I didn’t realize right away it was in a series, I was a little nervous wondering if I should read the series in order. I quickly realized this could easily be a stand alone book. The book drew me right in. There is a threat that arises you are taken on A roller coaster ride. You find yourself trying to figure it out. Everything boils down to keeping Jules save . Will Trev be able to conceal his brewing feelings to keep a level head to do his job? Or will in fact is new found passion and emotions make him more determined? This is a great thriller romance chilling edge if your seat page turner. Do yourself a favor and read this book! As I was reading this book I could easily imagine this being a rest movie to watch as well. Again this is book 5 in the series so if your all about reading series in order go right ahead.Personally I don’t feel that you have to read them in order. Like I mentioned it can be a great stand alone book. Although the rest of the series is on my to read list! Happy reading!

Jules Moretti is a work obsessed Infectious Disease Specialist who is being threatened and in danger. Trev Shaw, former Navy Seal is hired to protect her and that’s where the chemistry begins. This is a book you will finish in one sitting. Great story that keeps you intrigued and guessing.

I’m no novice when it comes to reading Amy’s book they are outstanding.
From page one until your last your be sucked in, especially with the suspense, strong independent characters Amy loves to write, and Covert Threat is no different. Jules loves her work at the research facility but strangeness starts to happen to her and when the bodyguard Trev makes an appearance and things start to heat up. But can it really be that simple? Read this to find out those details, it will have you on the edge of your seat for sure.

I have read a few books from this author and I absolutely love her. My favorite genre is military romance and she always exceeds all my expectations. This is the fifth book in the Gray Ghost series. You can read this as a stand-alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited when I got this book. I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I could not put this book down. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing story.

Jules Moretti is a specialist in infectious diseases. She loves her job. Jules is working on a top secret project. She knows what she is doing but something happens to her that makes her need a bodyguard. Jules thinks she knows all about the type of man that Trevor is but she quickly finds out she is dead wrong. She feels an amazing chemistry between her and the hunky bodyguard. Jules doesn’t know but she is getting herself into danger that she can’t even see. Will Trevor be able to save her in time or will the danger take over?

Covert Threat by Amy McKinley is the fifth book in the Gray Ghost series.

This was the perfect book for me. It kept me guessing and revising what I thought was going to happen next and who was responsible for all of the weird stuff happening to Jules. I had a partially correct guess about a third of the way through but I whiffed on a few important details and I was totally okay with that.

I wish I could find someone like Trev to save me the way he saves Jules. Holy cow! But seriously, he is hot, a good guy and willing to anything to protect Jules.

If your looking for a book that will keep you guessing during the twists then I highly recommend this book.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Covert Threat is an intriguing, action packed, romantic suspense story that hooked me from the very first page! Amy McKinley never disappoints! If I see this author’s name, I know I’m going to love the book!

Jules is a scientist who is dedicated to her job. A serious workaholic. Her life consists of work, sleep, repeat, with an occasional outing for a drink with her friend Fran. One day she gets a strange message on her computer along with all sorts of other strange things happening around her.

Trev is a former Navy Seal who is hired to be Jules’ bodyguard. He’s gorgeous, built, smart, funny, and knows how he affects the opposite sex. Which is why he’s shocked that Jules seems to be able to resist his charms! Soon, they find out that Jules is in more trouble than first appeared. Can Trev figure out what’s going on and keep Jules safe all while trying to get her to see him as more than just a bodyguard?

This is book five in the Gray Ghost series but it can be read as a standalone. It contains a little bit of everything and will have your emotions all over the place! I highly recommend this story and all of Amy’s books! 5 stars!

I was once again drawn into the adventurous world of Amy McKinley and I again was not disappointed. I liked the drama and intrigue that flows throughout the book. The characters just jump to life off of the pages and draw the reader in and keep you hooked till the last page. It was an exciting read that kept the flow of the series alive and me on the edge of my seat.

Trev and Jules are so explosive in their chemistry and the drama and intrigue that surrounds them. I was so impressed of the flow of this series. The characters enhance one another and the story line is invigorating and addictive. I felt as though I was in the midst of the action and was eager to see how things would turn out. This is a great read and I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future and hope for more of this series.

Covert Threat (Gray Ghost #5)Covert Threat by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Covert Threat is the fifth book in Amy McKinley’s exciting Gray Ghost series. Like the others, it can be read as a standalone but features characters and references events from the previous books.
The Gray Ghost team specialise in difficult missions. They can keep people safe or get them out of tricky situations. The core of the team is former military, and they put their training to good use in dangerous situations. The books are packed with action and tension.
Jules, the protagonist of Covert Threat, realises that she is in trouble when she starts noticing small things out of place. A drawer she doesn’t remember opening. A change to the screensaver on her computer. As things build up, and Jules realises she’s not just imagining it, Trev steps in to protect her and help get to the bottom of things.
I particularly like Jules as a character. Her interest in food and cooking means that McKinley applied her generous attention to detail to descriptions of delicious, nostalgic food (I’m hungry just reading it!). Also, her work as an epidemiologist is really cool and I learnt a lot from reading about it.
For me, this is a five star book. I’d recommend the series to fans of action who like a book with a complex story and characters that you get to know over time. Although you can jump in here, reading the stories in order gives you a chance to meet the characters properly and see their stories unfold (and you’re going to want to read them all eventually!).

Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 5) by Amy McKinley
4 of 5 Stars
Covert Threat is book 5 in Amy McKinley’s ‘Gray Ghost’ novels featuring members of the Gray Ghost Team. Workaholic Infectious Disease specialist Jules Moretti works at an elite research facility and following a security breach which puts Jules at risk, former Navy SEAL Trev Shaw is assigned to keep her safe. As Jules continues to work on top secret research projects she starts to have strange ‘mishaps’ and as her safety is put more and more at risk Trev must keep her safe. After a boating incident the two discover that there is more to one another than they initially thought and sparks begin to fly. What began as a simple assignment for Trev turns more dangerous as he falls in love with Jules and wants to discover who the culprit is and whether the danger is personal, or merely a smokescreen for biowarfare.
This is an action packed thriller, mystery and romance. The storyline is fast paced which kept me hooked from page one. I loved the main characters and how Jules and Trev’s relationship developed. The novel can be read as a standalone book, however characters from the previous books are mentioned, and having read and enjoyed this book I am now keen to read the rest of the series.

This author is new to me but this story was amazing. This is the 5th in the series but the first one I read. It wasnt confusing though; very easy to read.
Jules is a genius scientist looking for a cure tobacco rare disease that has killed others. When odd things start happening to Jules, her boss brings in Trev to be her bodyguard, just to be on the safe side. Only things escalate…dangerously.
A strange left on a mirror, mysteriously moved items, and a note from Jules mother that ties the whole book together. This book is fantastically written and brilliantly executed! I’d give it 10 stars if I could!

A great read about science and danger. Jules is a research scientist working on some military type drug with her company. But when strange things start to happen and a boat race goes wrong, she realises science is more dangerous than she expected. To protect her, she enlits the help of bodyguard Trev Shaw. Together, they try to work out what is going on as events unravel. Can they find out who is behind it all before it’s too late?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Jules standing up for herself but with her fears underneath or Trev as assertive but kind underneath
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the storm at the beginning with its sights and sounds so vivid its as if you’re actually there.
I also liked the use of suspense with small details revealed slowly to make you keep reading to find out what happened and whos begin it all. The first person narrative worked well to display Jules thoughts and feelings throughout the novel. The only issue I would raise is that sometimes the scientific terms used were hard to understand what they meant and may cause confusion for some readers. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.

5 +++++ Stars

MY FAVORITE SO FAR!! I love this whole series, but I have to say this one had me totally invested from the very first page. Jules and Trev were completely and utterly awesome characters. I loved their dialogue and I must say the twists and turns in this story were placed in the best spots to have me totally questioning everything I thought was going on. A few things I had suspected along the way but not in the exact way this author took them.

I love everyone with Gray Ghost, Hannah still frightens me a little bit LOL but she’s totally awesome. This author writes some of the best suspense filled with Danger, edge of your seat, emotional stories with some great romance thrown in. An auto one click for me!

Not going into the storyline which was simply out of this world, but will say…Read this whole series, it sits up in my favorites, that list of books I can not wait to read again back to back.

Loved It!!

Covert Threat (Gray Ghost #5)Covert Threat by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jules is a specialist who is dedicated to her work and is pretty much a workaholic. She’s had a lot of rocky moments over the years, and the rockiest being the recent passing of her mother. She has been no stranger to loss over the years and because of it, she keeps to herself and works hard to keep balance in her life. Her love of science has fueled her compassion to doing the right thing and helping wherever she can. For her, coming up with various healing antidotes, vaccines, and even new ways to fight biowarfare is everything. But when someone decides to knock her around and trigger memories she’s hidden, her world rocks again.

Trev is a military man who loves his career choice. He is dedicated to helping others, protecting them and fighting the good fight in every way he can. After all, once a Seal, always a Seal. For him, being apart of the Grey Ghost team means being with his family. The men and women he works with sharing the same values, protect at all costs. He’s always been the go-to guy for laughter, faithfulness, and loyalty. He learned the hard way that sometimes you have to open up and let others in. For him, being a chameleon of sorts, coming up with various ways to figure a situation out is everything. When he’s asked to take a special assignment, he didn’t expect it to be hers.

Together they have to figure out who wants to disrupt Jules’ life, hunt down a suspect in a possible terrorist scenario, play dodge and weave to figure out who really has it out to destroy many lives and finally, figure out where their attraction is headed. In the end, the twists are quick, the steam palpable and the mystery seems to never stop! I can surely say I had my suspicions on a few of the twists but when it all ended, it was like, holy cow! It was such a good mix of intrigue, intelligence, sexy hot moments and thrilling suspense. This was such a good book for me, I ended up binge-reading it and putting off sleep. I loved Jules and Trev!

This is a story that is filled with action, suspense and thrills. I just loved it. It’s one of those books that is hard to put down. It grabbed me from the beginning and next think I knew it was two AM. This really just got better the further along it went. Trev is a hottie with a great attitude. He is sure to bring in all the girls. Jules is a nerd who works as a scientist of the highest order. Crazy and I mean crazy things start happening to Jules and Trev gets hired as her babysitter….well bodyguard depending on who you ask.

Overall I loved this book! Although it’s part of a series, this book can be read independently. The story is fast paced and Is full of surprises. The characters round out nicely and are interesting. If you are looking for a book that won’t let you sleep or it will keep you on the edge of your seat? This is the one for you!

  • Covert Threat is book 5 In The series. I have not read all the books in the series but, I believe you do not have to in order to know what is going on.
This book was great. I found myself staying awake later at night because I didn’t want to put the book down.
Covert Threat was filled with action, suspense and confusion. As a reader I can honestly say the author had me hooked from the very beginning. Who doesn’t love a good book with a hot former navy seal?
Jules is one of the top scientist working on an antidote known to be able to save lives. Everything is going well until
One morning she finds an odd message on her computer at work. She always shuts her computer down when she leaves for the night and no one can get into her office building without proper ID.
When things start happening her boos hires Trev to be With Jules to and from work every day. People start getting injured and possibly even killed and they are framing Jules for it all.
Jules has an old cookbook from her mom that has a letter inside from her mother. Her mom told her to only open the letter if she feels threatened because it is like opening Pandora’s Box. Jules doesn’t know if she should open the letter or leave it where it is.
Jules doesn’t have a lot of memory from her younger years. Her family was in a boating accident where her dad and sister were killed. Luckily Jules and her mom were saved but doe to that accident, Jules doesn’t really remember anything. She’s not sure what they letter holds.
When she finds out who is behind the mysterious things happening, she starts to remember certain things from her childhood. Things are a lot more serious then she thinks. This book was a great read!review by @xchellex

Covert Threat is the fifth book in the Gray Ghost series. It mentions characters from previous books, but you can follow the story line without having to read them.

I think this is probably one of my favorites in this series. I loved the suspense build up. I enjoyed the equality of the mystery and romance. The romance part didn’t overtake the main story like in so many novels. Jules’ character was well written and I enjoyed following her story throughout the book.

I can’t write too much more without giving away the mystery. But, this book made a great rainy day read!

Covert Threat is book 5 in the Gray Ghost Series by Amy McKinley. I have read books 1-4 and the prequel and have absolutely loved this series so far and couldn’t wait for Trev to get his own book. I was so looking forward to reading his story and seeing him succumb to a woman’s charms.
Amy McKinley sure knows how to write a suspenseful, romantic thriller. As with all books in this series I was gripped by this story and did not want to put it down. In fact I stayed up until about 4am to finish it as there was no way I was putting this book down.
In Covert Threat Trev Shaw is hired to shadow biochemist, infectious disease specialist Dr Jules Moretti when she comes under threat whilst working on a top-secret project. The pair met previously and Jules was convinced he was a player so wasn’t interested in him. However, as her life becomes more at risk and more strange things happen to her, she spends more time with him and becomes to know the real Trev she then realises that she misjudged him.
I really loved this book. The romance is hot and steamy and the suspense and tension built up by the author is fantastic. Just when you think you might have an idea of what’s going on, then BAM, McKinley throws you a massive curveball.
I would 100% recommend this book to anyone who likes a romantic thriller. In fact, I would recommend this whole series. The Gray Ghost guys are an amazing bunch and I loved getting to see them again in this book. I hope that Amy McKinley will continue with this series and give the rest of the guys a HEA too.

Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 5) by Amy McKinley – Review by Jana Teppih

Covert Threat (Gray Ghost #5)Covert Threat by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Covert Threat is the fifth book in Amy McKinley’s Gray Ghost series. It is filled with action, romance and is so fast paced that you will not even notice when you have finished it! You will be pulled in from the first chapter and you will keep thinking who why when how …
Our couple of the Covert Threat are Jules Moretti, an infectious-disease specialist, and Trev Shaw, a former SEAL and the man trying to keep Jules safe … There is an unknown threat out there and Jules is in danger so Trev is brought in to protect her. There are so many little details that build a big picture that blows you away and all along you will be keeping your fingers crossed that Jules will have the happy ending she so deserves and that the secrets that have been buried deep will see the light of day and not destroy everything and everyone on their way.
Even if you pick Cover Threat up as a standalone, you will find out pretty fast that you want to read the whole series! Welcome and enjoy yourself!
