I LOVED this book! I read Body Checked right before I read this book (which means I read them out of order) and I have to say I loved that they followed the same timeline, I have never read a series that does this in books before. This means that many of the same events are being told but from a different perspective than in the other. In Power Play, we are still reading about events that follow the Astoria Bay Thunder, a hockey team. However, we are seeing the romance between Levi and Brynn. Brynn is a photographer who is trying to reinvent her life and make it on her own as a photographer. Levi is the captain of the Thunder and a very private person. Brynn first meets Levi when she wins a contest to go see the Thunder Play. However, when she sees Levi, she can’t believe her eyes. Levi looks like her first love, however, he has a different last name. When Levi sees Brynn he feels as if he is seeing a ghost. He left her long ago at her parents’ request and has thought about her every day since then. Maybe this is the second chance he has been hoping for. Brynn gets booked for a photo shoot with the hockey team and it involves a weekend in a cabin with the team. Perhaps, they will get their second chance after all.
I cannot say how much I was rooting for Brynn and Levi. I loved everything about the team and this series. I hope that CJ Cartwright plans to continue this storyline with the other players. It was such a warm and heartfelt story that I really cannot recommend to anyone enough.

He also happens to be a lawyer with the company w caused her family a lot of heartache in the past. Jake finds himself in love with Ella, but he has to show his loyalty to his family. How can he do that when what he wants is to show his loyalty to Ella and Tessa? This is a story of secrets, betrayals but most of all, what lengths we go to for the ones we love.

The Lie That Binds is a YA romance with a twist of lies and secrets. Holly just moved to a new town and wants to fit in, just like any other schoolgirl. She soon finds out the “popular” girls are not her crowd, and the hunky Nathan isn’t all that she thought he would be…but she is still drawn to him. Nathan is equally drawn to Holly….and then his secret comes out. The same secrets that draw them close together soon has Holly wondering if his feelings are real, or just a means to keep his secrets safe. The Lie That Binds is very much your typical high school drama, and all that comes with it, so I had a difficult time connecting with the moody, ever changing characters. I was often a little frustrated with the characters and wanted to shake sense into them (but again, they are high school kids, so maybe this was intended). I did enjoy the storyline and where it ended up going, so I will give this one 4 stars, and I can definitely see the appeal for higher ratings from a younger audience!

My first book by this author, and I cant wait to go read the others! The characters were so well developed and raw. This book had emotion, romance and drama, touching on some real life problems. I was 100% invested in Evan and Callie’s love story, well done to this author.

This contemporary romance really blew me out of the water. Personally I love contemporary romances, but If they aren’t your cup of tea, I would personally recommend giving this one a go. Full of romance, secrets, lies and more this one has enough twists and turns to keep anyone on the edge of their seats. The characters are very well developed and realistic, the plot is intriguing, and the cover is just flat out clever. So if your looking for a great new read then look this one up today.

This was such a good book! I could hardly put it down, because the story was so well written. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the excessive vulgar language and explicit sexual nature was a bit much for me. The story follows two high school students, Holly Ross and Nathan Harris. Nathan has a secret that he doesn’t want people to find out about. He covers it by being a part of the popular crowd and being mean to other kids. Holly is a new student who accidentally discovers Nathan’s secret. She never dreams Nathan would start dating her to make her keep his secret. So when she finds out why he started dating her, will their love for each other be able to overcome the deceptive start? Or will other students be able to keep them apart? Find out in this page turner!

This read was heartwarming all in all. I enjoyed the character connections, the feelings that were associated with it, and how everyone seemed to bounce off one another. Enjoyed the use that was seen a lot as I read, of the importance of family and love. That was meaningful to me.

I loved the bond between Ellsa and Tessa. Though she was not her blood mother, Ella would do anything for Tessa. Things happen and they are threatened to be ripped apart. Ella did not give up whatsoever, She fought for the one thing she cared about more than anything. Even when someone throws a card into the pile that puts a wrench in most things, she stayed true to her ground. The essence of family was very strong in this read, I felt a lot as I read, and I am very thankful I got to enjoy such a good book.

The book was a good and fast read. I was very much hooked. The book flowed very nicely as well. I could not put this one down. Highly recommend this must read book, not one to be passed up.

A New Adult novel that tackles a tough subject with heart.

Would recommend for upper teens as there is explicit sex scenes and internal monologue about it.

A bit of an enemies to lovers/opposites attract going on here. The main topic though is what will someone do to keep their secrets and encourage others to do so as well.

I enjoyed the relationship between Holly and Nathan. The gradual build up and the opposites attract. While I could see what was coming I enjoyed the ride to seeing them get together and the obstacles they faced to be and stay together, both within and external to their relationship.

This novel is about underage young adults, so I think the high school environment led to more tension but also showed the strain of keeping secrets from people you see almost every day and how that can wear on a person.

Loved the supporting cast of friends, Lucy (the goth who holds a spot in my heart now), Megan, Ryan, and Evan. And of course Holly’s dad and Nathan’s parents. Holly’s dad reminds me a bit of Charlie Swan from Twilight and I’m here for that.

Think many who read and enjoyed the After series will enjoy this one.

This was an enjoyable and engaging read, which had me hooked from start to finish. Following the death of her sister, Ella Anderson is raising her niece, Tessa as requested, and although she is struggling money wise she’s happy bringing up her adored niece. So when she receives a summons from a legal Goliath, on behalf of a wealthy stranger who is claiming paternity and, potentially wants custody of Tessa, she is shocked. Lawyer Jake Taylor, is looking after his aunt and uncles interests, having received a letter from a women claiming that his cousin has a daughter, Tessa.
When Ella, the child’s aunt turns up in his office Jake thinks the case is suspicious. Although Jake and Ella have divided loyalties, neither can deny the growing attraction between them. However, the case is full of secrets and lies, and Ella is not sure that she can trust Jake to make the right decision regarding her having custody of Tessa. This was a heartwarming romance full of drama, which took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading it. The storyline is gripping and had me happily turning the pages. The characters and the setting are all brought to life by the descriptive narrative, which made me feel immersed in the story. I definitely recommend this novel.

This was a really captivating romance. The author does an amazing job with the story and the characters. Both of our main characters Ella and Jake are strong determined people who care about and want to protect the people they love. A chain of events leads them to start off on oppositites sides fighting for custody of Ella’s niece.

After Ella’s sister passes she is left with custody of her niece. Dealing with grief and the sudden responsibility she is shock and devastated to recieve a letter to discuss custody of Tessa to her paternal grandparents.
This starts a whirlwind of emotions including the immediate attraction the the lawyer who is pursuing this case Jake Taylor.

Jake Taylor doesn’t deal in family law normally however he takes this case because he wants to save his uncle and aunt from being hurt. Unsure of whether this child is really their grandchild or someone trying to con them he heads into war to find out the truth. What he doesn’t expect is to run into Ella.
He knows her love for the child is real but a part of him can’t help thinking she is behind the lie, if it is a lie.
What happens next is a rollercoaster so emotions run high and secrets and lies slowly come out in the open.
When torn between doing what is right by Tessa and doing what his aunty and uncle want which side will Jake choose?

Ella seems to be the most tenacious character I’ve read about in a while. She’s just lost her sister, Chrissy, after a two-year-long battle with cancer, during which Ella was the primary caretaker for both her sister and Chrissy’s daughter, Tessa.
Returning back to her apartment following the funeral, she’s faced with an unexpected letter declaring an appointment Chrissy had at a Taylor’s Law Firm, the same firm that helped a greedy corporation swindle her family out of some of their farm’s acreage several years ago. This time, the family faces the threat of a custody battle over Tessa by her biological father, Drew, who seemingly wanted nothing to do with the pregnancy from the start. Things are only complicated further by letters from Chrissy posthumously delivered that imply she’s willing to give custody to Drew’s family in exchange for money.
Despite her own reservations and disdain for the law firm, Ella is drawn to Jake Taylor himself, and the two exchange heated words that seem to only fan the flames of attraction between them. For Jake’s part, he’s unaware of the history between the families, but has his own reservations about Ella’s involvement in Chrissy’s “extortion plot.”
There’s a lot of pushing and pulling between Ella and Jake, and when Drew finally agrees to a paternity test, things quickly cool off, much to Ella’s confusion and frustration. Drew has his own motives to pursue custody of Tessa; and after discovering the connection between Drew and Jake, Ella decides Jake is on the wrong side of her family’s best interests. She prepares for yet another legal battle against money and power, with the hopes that this fight doesn’t cost her everything she loves.
The book is clever, with lovable characters, plenty of tension, and just the right amount of surprise. Some of the push-pull between Ella and Jake feels a little discombobulated, but it might just be cultural differences, as the book is set in Australia; otherwise, I found the book to be a delightfully dramatic read.

What a fantastic read! Ella is caring for her niece Tessa after the death of her sister when she finds out her sister has actually put some wheels in motion that could see her lose Tessa. Ella must navigate the turmoil that comes along with custody battles all while grieving her sister and fighting her growing attraction to Jake Taylor, who happens to be a lawyer with the company who has previously caused her family a lot of heartache. Will Jake be the reason her heart heals or will he be the reason it breaks again? This really is such a wonderfully crafted storyline with totally relatable characters that takes you on a complete rollercoaster of emotions.

Ella is trying to recover from her sister’s passing. She has her niece, Tessa, and now a letter from Taylor Law to come in for an appt. She now has to deal with paternity and custody issues from an unknown father and his parents. Jake Taylor has his hands full trying to fix the ruins that Rory left and handle the case against Drew brought by Chrissy (Ella’s deceased sister). This is a terrific story.There is lots of family drama. We have Ella, Tessa and Jake; Bronwyn and Peter; and Drew and Rory. The drama is intense and deep. It is a bit mysterious because everyone is holding out secrets. The author has written some characters that truly are relatable. I bet people will find they remind them of people they have met or know. Ella and Jake are wonderful because they put Tessa first. I love family friendly plots. I also lot plots that give characters what they deserve. A few good plot twists take care of that. The chemistry sparks about ¼ of the way in. It flickers from the beginning and you can watch it grow. These two are like a growing fire in a fireplace, warm and cozy. I love this contemporary romance and wish I could give it more than a 5 star review. It’s that good. You should read this.

As I was reading, I felt like I was transported back into high school. Every whisper from classmates that makes you anxious and feel alone… The fear of looking up and making eye contact with anyone, so you keep your head down.
But what happens when you do make eye contact with someone? A GORGEOUS someone?
All the butterflies and feelings of new love… So intoxicating.

I read this book in just a few hours… It was so well-written and had some twists and turns I did not anticipate! Things DEFINITELY got steamy, but there was also so much love and friendship and growth in this story too.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it won’t be the last. I could NOT put this book down!

I don’t even know what to say about Kat and TJ. No words I have will even come close to explaining how good this book is. I was skeptical at first but kept an open mind and I’m glad I did. What an emotional rollercoaster!

This book is so well written. The characters connection is so bone deep and woven into the story very well. I seriously am speechless. I highly recommend Kat and TJ’s story!

Oh my goodness! I read this , finished it , drowned myself in comfort food and Kleenex and then read it again !

I see a little of myself in TJ as in when I love I love hard and I love with everything and I’ll will do anything for those I love and sometimes that bites me in the rear but for most part people appreciate it anyhoo I was fortunate to find my soulmate and have been blessed and happily married for 20 years 😍

I don’t think Katrina would know what real love is even it came up to her and slapped her in the face , that is till TJ comes along and shows her what life and love can be like ….

There’s a “magicalness” to Katrina that draws me in and while I understand her fears and insecurities I just wanted to shake her and tell her to wake up to what is right in front of her ….

TJ teaches and coaches so that already says a lot of them man he is and his yearns for the family , home and white picket fence and it would seem that that’s in the pipeline with Katrina …. He’s a good , kind , patient and loving man with a really big heart and any woman would thank her lucky stars to have a man like him on her side ….

I really cried hard reading this . I saw and felt love , grace , hope , heartache, redemption and so much more . I felt complete when I finished it a second time round

An absolute privilege to have been able to read this ❣️📕

Jennifer is a member of Romance Writers of Australia and is a three-time finalist in the Emerald competition, 2017, 2018 (Taylor’s Law) and 2022. She’s a member of Romance Writers of New Zealand, winning the Pacific Hearts competition twice, including in 2019, with Grace Under Fire, the sequel to Taylor’s Law. She’s also a member of Romance Writers of America and has been a finalist in chapter competitions in 2019, 2020 and 2021 (Taylor’s Law).

Jennifer lives in inner-city Sydney, Australia, with the requisite number of partners (1) and animals (2). I love this book so much! I would give this book 10 stars if I could. Reading from the POV of Evan, who’s going through a lot emotionally, has me relate to him so much. And I love that it shows that men go though things too. They have bad days. They get emotional. They have panic attacks. They get paranoid and constantly think they’re doing something wrong. He’s a good looking, extremely nice man but he’s always doubting himself. He thinks he’s not good enough for anyone or anything. And I relate to that so much, so this book was such an amazing read. I read it so quickly too!! Evan and Callie, they’re cute af together. She’s so understanding and lifts him up so much, it makes my heart melt. Callie has been through some hard times too, but that doesn’t stop her from trying to make him feel better. And Evan is there for her as well. They’re great for each other! So much support and so much love. As for Callie and her sister Aviva…AMAZING relationship. I so badly wish I had that kind of relationship with mine. They’re always there for each other and it’s amazing. You don’t see family like that anymore. Can’t forget, the spice in this book was great as well! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this book.

Key To His Heart: Single Parent Romance

This book had me all of the place.  I couldn’t figure out what was happening between Kat and TJ but I was liking it.

Kat had a lot of changes happen over a very short period of time and I think she handled it amazingly well.   Until she didn’t and couldn’t figure out what was happening.

TJ went to do his Aunt a favor and his world changed in the best possible. I may have started crushing on him as the story went on.  Nothing hotter than a guy who will step up and help raise a child that isn’t his biologically.

I was lucky enough to find my own TJ when my daughter was little and sometimes don’t appreciate enough all he went through to adjust to no only be a spouse but also a Daddy.

This book was worth every single second I spent reading it.  I really liked all of the major characters and most of the secondary.   I will be looking to get caught up on the other books by this author.

Key to His Heart by Kristina Beck packs an emotional wallop that really tugged on my heartstrings. It is a small-town contemporary romance, which is inspired by true events. The story touches on subjects that may be considered sensitive to some readers- but was done honestly and realistically. It is told from a duel POV which balances the story while giving the reader a great perspective of events. Ms. Beck has woven her story with so much heart and soul. She has crafted some very realistic characters, who have been well developed with their own personalities, quirks, and flaws. It was easy to feel for them and what they were going through. Investing in them and their story wasn’t hard- I was all-in.
Ms. Beck proves once again to be a great storyteller, constructing a plot full of complexities, connection, struggles, secrets, confusion, angst, discovery, drama, fate, chemistry, tenderness, understanding, sizzle, and romance.
A sweet story!

This is my first book by book by this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I quickly devoured the words. Tj and Kat are perfect for each other. The story was both original and delightful. The chemistry between TJ and Kat was perfect. The emotions that this book caused me were just what I needed. I would definitely recommend this book.

This sweet and intriguing story really has it all, I was half way done with the book before I came to first stopping point and felt like I had only read for twenty minutes. The characters are just simply amazing, sweet, and so realistic that you feel every emotion they are going through. Full of great characters, a small town, love and more this unique story is so good I might just reread it.

Key to His Heart is an emotional read. It is told from a dual point of view through the eyes of TJ and Katrina. The story is sweet and touching. I enjoyed getting the story from both of the main characters. It was great to see how the same story is seen through the eyes of the different characters. Love stories often deal with the situation’s timing, which this one also did. I enjoyed that the story was not outlandish or off the rails with unrealistic scenarios. I haven’t read much from this author, but I look forward to reading more from her in the future. This is a great read to grab if you need some realism and a HEA.

This was a very interesting read for my first book written by this author. This is a contemporary romance with unconditional love is tested when devastating truths are revealed. The characters are great and well written.

Katrina has secrets. She wasn’t prepared for sparks to fly, filling my life with endless love, comfort, and safety. TJ, Toby, and I are inseparable, like a genuine family. She thought it was long gone. After confessing her love to TJ, she tumbles into a black hole of hell. Her perfect façade begins to crumble, and she can’t mask it anymore.
Now that TJ seethe real her will he leave her or stay and fight by her side?
TJ bursts through a stranger’s door, Katrina and her newborn son, Toby, are pushed into his life. His hopeful soul whispers to him that they are meant to be together. But can he trust himself?
Can Katrina believe that someone could love her? Can TJ prove his love for Katrina? Will she end up alone and broken or will she have a happily ever after?

This book was truly phenomenal. What an emotional rollercoaster this was! Katrina, Tj, and Toby were characters you couldn’t help but fall in love with and they made the story so exceptional. To say I felt every emotion is an understatement, I bawled, felt their joy, and every possible feeling in between! As a single mom who found someone to share their life and the heavy load with, I can honestly say this captured that soooo well! Kristina Beck did an incredible job writing a story that felt so much like I’m sure so many’s real lives. An exceptional read that brings a realistic quality to the fiction romance novels!

Oh, my goodness this story is so good. If you like to read about insta-love and soul mates with a little mystery added in, then this is definitely the book for you!

Main character, Katrina, discovers many things about herself throughout this story. One thing she discovers is how strong she is with the birth of her son, Toby. Main character, TJ, also learns a few things about himself. He learns to trust the process.

Katrina and TJ meet under strenuous circumstances and feel a connection immediately. But since both have had their hearts broken, they are leery about taking a chance on romance, even though the attraction and pull to each other is so strong.

Katrina has a few secrets that she isn’t so sure TJ can handle. And she can’t handle TJ leaving her. But her secrets are slowing killing her and those she loves. TJ knows something is going on with Katrina, but he doesn’t know how to help her, especially since she isn’t sharing her problems with him.

This story teaches the main characters and the reader to trust the process, seek help, and know that everyone is suffering from something. We are ok. You are ok.

This was such a great read! I was completely captivated, finding myself waking up earlier in the morning than my alarm to read it before going to work! This book encompasses two individuals, Katrina and TJ. Katrina has relocated to a different town after going through a nasty divorce and being 8 months pregnant. TJ is a retired famous football player who helps his parents out in the family store. When these two collide, sparks fly, and they cannot stand to be apart from one another! There are some crazy instances that are the driving forces that are pulling them together and the way that was written was one of a kind and just so brilliant. The way the author wrote this book, the ideas, wording and details was phenomenal! I cannot wait to read more of her books!!

I was completely and utterly drawn in by this story from the moment I started reading. I loved getting lost in these characters, their journey just felt so real and emotional. I really felt like I was taken along for their development and growth and couldn’t wait to see how they would end up.
I thought the story was just fantastic! Utterly was compelling and emotional, fitting perfectly with the characters the author has created. Although I have read other books by this author this one is definitely my favourite.
