This is the 3rd book in The Journals Trilogy series. This is a Romantic Suspense and is just under 4 hours listening time. This is a dark romance so only 18+ should listen and there are situations in the story that could also cause triggers. This story follows Quinn, Stone, and Walker. Due to her past, Quinn has been through the wringer and that has made her stronger. She will do whatever it takes to keep her family safe. Stone guided her to become who she is today. All she wanted was to move forward and away from her past. Stone is there to make sure Walker never comes back. This trilogy was an intense one and the narrator did a fantastic job with it!

Julia Colbourn is a new author to me and I am so glad that I picked up this book. Normally I do not go by covers and in this book I went by the cover. This author knows how to keep me in suspense. This plotline was off the charts. I would consider this to be a fantasy book. There were some undertones of politics, discrimination, dark drama, and assassination. It also shows the women as the top of the world and the men slaves. The characters are intriguing, so much that I felt as if they could be real and on another planet. The story did take me on a roller coaster ride. I kept wanting to see what was coming next that sometimes there was a twist in the story that floored me. Living in this world would change the outlook of a woman and a man. What transpires in my mind is still working out the details. I highly recommend this book. I cannot wait to read more from Julia Colbourn.

Manda Mellett has drawn me into a genre I hadn’t read before, and I am completely in love. This book was so heart wrenching. This is Saffie and Narin’s story. Saffie has literally been through hell and in a chance meeting with Narin and his sergeant-at-arms old lady, Mary, Saffie finds some comfort. At least until Saffie finds out that Narin is part of an MC. The Devi’s take Saffie under their wing and offer her their protection, but can she trust them and let them try to protect her? This book ended on a cliffhanger, and I am impatiently waiting for the next installment due out soon.

Avenging Devil: Part 1 (Satan’s Devils MC – San Diego Chapter #3) by Manda Mellett was a great read! I swear I think each book by her just gets better and better and this one definitely wasn’t a disappointment. I was hooked from the beginning, and I didn’t want to put it down. This was a tear jerker novel and very emotional. Definitely not for the faint of heart. This book does end on a cliffhanger (hence it being part one) and I absolutely can not wait to read part two when it’s released!

Avenging Devil part 1 is the third installment to the San Diego and as the title reveals there is a part 2. Part 1 was so good that I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and went a little crazy anticipating part 2 due to the way that Ms. Mellett leaves part 1. As much as I love her other novels this story is so descriptive, her characters so amazing that I find myself craving more. She weaves layers upon layers of tension, drama, complexity, and romance, making sure to put her readers and characters through a dramatic roller coaster ride. Ms. Mellett gives us so much that she will have you flipping the pages until the very end.

Avenging Devil Part 1: Satan’s Devils MC San Diego by Manda Mellett
5 out of 5 stars
HOWLY COW this is the best book I have read in the Satan’s Devil MC. Avenging Devil is part 1 Niran and Saffie story and it ends in a big cliff hanger. The characters are written amazingly. They are strong minded and they way these characters play off each other are great and their quirks make them feel real.
Saffie has been hurt by an MC before so when she finds out Niran is part of an MC she kicks him out and is scared that he knows her ex so she wants nothing to do with him.
Niran was discharged from the army because he lost part of his leg he was floundering until he met the Satan Devils. So, for Niran to be apart of her life he either must leave the Devil’s or show Saffie that the Satan’s Devils are totally different then the one who hurt her.
Will Saffie’s Ex find her? Will Saffie realize the Satan Devils are different from the other MC before its to late? Can Niran keep Saffie safe? Can they work against the odds to be together or are they doomed?

The Ellisians are a race who value the females in their society, they have a matriarchal hierarchy and the boys are rushed away from their mothers immediately after birth as they have no value to them and grow up to serve in the military as Brethren, even the baby girls are nursed by the Cadian’s. The Cadians are another race whom the Ellisians believe are beneath them, they live in clans outside the palace walls and only the females are brought within to do the menial tasks the Ellisians believe are below them. Both of the races have their own values to society, the Cadians are broad shouldered and hard workers, but they are subdued by a force the Ellisians control called the Negaforce, it is an innate ability which is more prevalent in the females than males which is another reason they are discarded to the sidelines.
Within the royal line, there are many females within the palace walls, although a new queen can only be selected upon the birth of another female to one of the royal line, however, these children can be as different as any normal family, but one is more different than the rest. The youngest daughter of the queen is unlike her siblings, she prefers the outdoors, has a quiet temperament and keeps to herself, while her elder sister is paranoid and full of cruelty and malice. One day the youngest daughter is sent on a trip to visit a neighbouring town where she spends time when not studying in the palace, on her way back, she is attacked and this starts a chain of events in this young Ellisian’s life. She escapes from one danger into another, where she is rescued and learns things about herself she never suspected, but what she finds out later is that the Queen, her mother is dead and her sister barely escaped her own demise, but this has meant that she is now in charge and is a leader with more bloodlust than even those before her.
As this young Ellisian learns about her past, present and future, she makes a decision which will affect not only her life, but that of those around her, but will the decisions she makes be for the good of all, or will she be unable to conquer her fears and lead those who need it to make the realm a better place? This is a fast paced adventure in a fantasy land where secrets abound and nothing is as it seems in a small realm with big problems which pulls you along the current of the unfolding events until their conclusion.
Wow, I continue to be blown away with this series. This book in particular is just pure dark, raw and emotional. Please be aware of adult content and triggers. My heart hurt after reading this for Saffie. She is on the run, trying to get away from her ex, whom we find out belongs to a mc. Niran, is ex military and protective. I loved his character as tries to help Saffie but once Saffie finds out that Niran belongs to a mc, she flees. She wants to feel safe………..The ending…………..holy cow………like…..I need part 2…

This book leaves you thinking about things. A female ruled society with a disturbed Queen and a twisted daughter. Her other daughter, who is damaged, feels she has never fit in. Through a series of events she comes into her powers of the Negaforce. She runs into the Cadians and realizes how much needs to change. She must overthrow her sister. She eventually realizes her confidence and how strong she is. Well-written with lots of action that will keep you glued to the book. The characters are varied and full of different yet the same characteristics as we have. Loved this book! Hope to see more from this author.
The Myder Bird Tattoo by Julia Colbourn is a fantastic fantasy- an engrossing story that has a bit of a dystopian feel, with inter-racial tensions, politics, power plays, discrimination, assassination, drama, dark elements, tension, and lots more. This is such an original story that really leaps off the page- Julia Colbourn’s world building really brought everything to life. I liked that there was more to the story, and characters, than I first expected. It’s great when a story can take me places I wasn’t expecting. This isn’t a light and fluffy fantasy by any means- there is a deeper, darker current flowing through which gives the story a raw and gritty feel in places, which in turn added to the overall feel of the book. This may have been my first book by Julia Colbourn, but it definitely won’t be my last. I will definitely be on the lookout for more of her stories in the future.

Avenging Devil Part 1: Satan’s Devils San Diego MC is the first part of Nirans story. I love each and every MC story Manda Mellett has written and this one didn’t take long to suck me in like all the others. This story is a cliffhanger, because it’s a two part book, and I can’t wait to get my hands on remaining story to see what happens with Niran and Saffie. Make sure you have a few free hours when you pick up this book, because you won’t want to put it down

Avenging Devil Part 1 is the third book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego Series by Manda Mellett. Ms. Mellett is one of my go to authors. I have read most of her books. I’m not really a big MC reader, but this author puts such interesting twists in her Satan’s Devils Universe that her books are impossible to put down. This one is different as it has two parts and the first one ends on a cliffhanger, which I can’t wait for the second part to see how it ends. This book features Saffie and Niran and is a bit darker than the rest of Ms. Mellett’s books. There may be triggers for some, but the author does a good job of diving into deeper subjects of things that happen in some MC clubs. This book took me on a roller coaster of emotions and I was grabbing for the tissue box more than once. If you love MC Romance this is the series for you.

The Myder Bird Tattoo by Julia Colbourn is a well written and intriguing story that is different from most books I have read. I found myself easily pulled into this story as I wanted to know more about the world and what could be going on. The hierarchy and the monarchy I found really interesting to see unfold. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. I thought the plot was well developed and the characters all had great parts. The story felt original and was written in a way that kept my interest throughout. I throughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more from this author.
Avenging Devil Part 1 (Satan’s Devils MC San Diego #3) by Manda Mellett. First off I LOVE Manda Mellett so I was super excited to read this book and it was amazing. Its the story of Saffie who has been assaulted by members of another biker’s club and is notably terrified of biker’s. Her ex boyfriend was a biker as well and she’s always looking over her shoulder to see if he’s hunting her down. He told her he would kill her for leaving him. Niran is a biker like no other, he’s kind, caring and compassionate. When he meets Saffie she is a shell of her former and scared of everything but Niran can’t help wanting to protect her. Saffie isn’t having it and continually pushes him away but he keeps trying. Saffie knows she needs Niran’s protection so she is sensible enough to not completely push him away. Will Saffie eventually open her heart to Niran and will Niran continue to try to help Saffie? Read this amazing, emotional story that will keep you turning pages late in the night!

This author seems to pull at your heartstrings in the most profound ways through storytelling. I’ve read numerous books by this author and have captivated me after reading them. This book is no different as worlds collide but don’t end like you’d suspect. You will enjoy this one just as much as I did.

This story is not safe for work, not for children and definitely not for readers with triggers due to rape, torture, or abuse. Everyone else will love this story…well maybe not the ending!! UGH those cliffhangers! But the title does say PART 1 for a reason!
Mellett loves her MC stories and she does an amazing job with each one. Every story digging deeper into the lives of Satan’s Devils and securing these characters into our hearts. Avenging Devil is no different! Saffie and Niran are strong characters on their own but they really need each other and we need them to work it out and realize their need is more than just about sex. The need for a friend, the need for protection, the need for love, and the need of feeling safe. Just plain safe.
This series needs to be read in order so that you can experience the other characters in the club and understand the brotherhood. Since this story ends with a cliffhanger, I am patiently ish waiting for part two.

This is the third book in the Satan’s Devils San Diego series, but only part one of the Avenging Devil. I thoroughly enjoy the Satan’s Devils series, to the point that once it is available I get it and read it in one sitting. This book is no different, but there is a twist: it is part one and part two is not available quite yet. There is a major cliffhanger and I cannot wait until part two comes out. Manda Mellett does not disappoint with this book. Her characters are so intense. The way she writes made me feel like I was right there with Saffie. Saffie is a broken woman, in ways that are unspeakable. Niran found her when he was taking Grumber’s old lady to a prenatal appointment. Niran was not looking for anyone but he couldn’t just leave her. Niran and Saffie’s story is one not for the faint of heart. I would caution the reader because it could trigger some bad situations or memories for some. I highly recommend reading Avenging Devil part one. I highly recommend all of the Satan’s Devil books as they are all fantastic.

A dark fantasy tale, The Myder Bird Tattoo by Julia Colbourn is an interesting original tale. This is the first time I have had the pleasure of reading any works from Julia and I must say I enjoyed it. With its intriguing plot, lies and deceit and betrayal the pages keep turning. Sometimes the truth is right in front of us. But only those strong enough or with a sense of right or wrong bother to do anything about it. If you look closely, you will learn things you have never known.
Avenging Devil Part 1 is another masterful novel by Manda Mellet. This MC romantic suspense novel is one of the best I’ve read in this series. **All novels can be read independently, but I recommend reading in order.**
Niran is a former Marine and has only been with Satan’s Devils MC for about three years. As a former Marine, Niran knows what it means to be a part of a group and that loyalty is needed for the safety of all the members.
Saffie is on the run. After a terrible five years of being married to the VP of the Crazy Wolves MC, Saffie manages to get out with the help of The Freedom Trail, a group that helps victims of abuse start new lives away from their abusers. Saffie’s new identity is set up in San Diego. She wants nothing to do with a motorcycle again.
Niran has to take Mary, Grumbler’s old lady, to the doctor for a pregnancy checkup. While there he sees a lady who seems very much alone. Upon leaving the facility, Mary rushes over to the same woman who has collapsed in tears beside her car after her appointment. With a lot of fuss, Mary manages to get Saffie to agree to let them help her get home. Niran feels an instant connection with Saffie because she needs support. They become friends until she finds out that he’s in a motorcycle club. This drives a wedge between the two, but circumstances change when her ex has found out that she has relocated to San Diego. Fearing for Saffie’s safety, Niran tries to get her to let go of her inhibitions about MC clubs. Will the Devils be able to help Saffie before it’s too late? Will Niran finally find compatibility with a woman that he wants to call his own?

This is a new author for me which I enjoyed reading. I look forward to reading more from her in the future. This is a well written story that is full of action and kept me turning pages to the end. The characters are relatable and bring the story to life on each page. This is a story about a series of situations that puts things on a course of destruction. The queen is assassinated and her two daughters have had a couple of failed attempts at killing them. Living in a matriarchal society, the youngest daughter realizes that some of the soldiers are her brothers. What happens next you will want to find out. This is a little different story but it was easy to read and I found it to be entertaining. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.
Everybody knows something – about the steps, the tattoos, the kidnappings – but I don’t even know what questions to ask.
Inter-racial tension comes to a head when the queen of the tiny realm of Arcadia is assassinated. The delicate Ellisians, small in number, have dominated the stronger and more numerous Cadians for decades, using the powerful Negaforce to subdue and torture, but the Cadians have finally found a leader who can organise them into resisting. The queen’s two daughters were also supposed to die, but both attempts were botched, and the realm is now in the hands of the eldest daughter, whose cruelty is honed to a fine point by her paranoia.
The Ellisians have a matriarchal society, where males, with their weaker Negaforce, have no value. They are discarded at birth and sent to be trained as mindless soldiers, overseeing the Cadians. When the queen’s youngest daughter becomes curious that some of these Brethren soldiers are her brothers, it triggers an unstoppable sequence of destruction.
Finally I have the time to do what I love best: writing. After twenty years teaching science in a secondary comprehensive school, I am relishing the freedom to be able to get down on paper all the ideas I have been carrying around in my head.
My writing doesn’t fit neatly into any particular genre. My third and fourth books come under Romance, but they’re a bit too gritty and earthy to really fit the bill. My first two books (The Glass Knight and its sequel) were first put under science fiction, but fit better under dystopian fantasy. My fifth book was meant to be an historical romance but I ended up writing fantasy again!
The thing that links all my books is a fascination with people and in particular, atypical relationships. None of us fit in a box and we all have our shadowy corners. Saffy, in the Glass Knight, is angry nearly all the time and has a terrible relationship with her father and half-brother (for reasons that slowly become apparent). Kate, in Seduction & Destruction, has an unhealthy fascination with violence that doesn’t fit with her privileged upbringing. Wendy, in The Kill Shot, is dealing with a Narcissistic ex and a jealous best friend. I like to think that I tell it how it is, without flinching from my characters’ weaknesses and flaws.
I flesh out my characters by watching them and listening to them in my head! Usually there are little bits of people I’ve met in them, though no character is based on any single person. I can picture how someone’s face expresses itself as they talk. I can hear the tone of voice they would use, the phrases that seem natural. My dialogue sentences often finish with three dots… because in real life people often just tail off a sentence, or someone else jumps in before they’re quite finished.
I hope my writing is also entertaining in that it has, not only some rather dry humour, but some thought-provoking ideas. I myself, love a book that educates or stimulates me, as well as entertains me. Is love necessary for a successful marriage? What technology would we try and recreate, if we lost all that we have now? Is religion of some sort essential? What do the different colours on squash balls mean? (The last is revealed in The Kill Shot!)
Born in south east London, I now live in Kent with my husband. I have three grown up daughters and my hobbies include photography, travel and scuba diving.

Manda Mellett does it again. I was pulled in by Niran and Saffie’s story and I couldn’t get enough. This story is a part one and does end in a big cliffhanger so be prepared for that! I really liked this story and I am looking forward to reading more by this author and the next part of this story! I would recommend this to a friend! Happy Reading!

Manda Mellett really took my heart out and put it in a blender with this one. I have really loved and come to grow close to the Satan’s Devils characters that she has created, having read most of them and loved just about every single one of them. This book came with a warning and I would personally take that with caution if you tend to find them useful when choosing your novels. This one was a bit triggering for me and I typically don’t have issues with books being difficult but the way that Ms. Mellett writes her characters become so very real that I think it is almost impossible to not feel the way that they do with some ounce of that rawness and so I can see where that would be a tad real for a person. At least it was for myself. This book is deep and thought provoking. I won’t touch on the actual story or details because really that would ruin it, at least not much more than what is already given beyond the synopsis. This is one that you do not want to miss though I can promise you that. Be prepared for a cliffhanger that will leave you hungry for that part two soon to come this summer as well. I know I am waiting very excitedly!!

Awakening Audio Book by D.M. Earl is the third book in the Journals Trilogy. After listening to the first two books I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one to find out how it was all going to end! I just had to know to outcome and see if there could be a happy ending for Stone and Quinn.
I was a little bit disappointed with the story. It felt like at times that the author had resorted to adding things in for the shock factor. I don’t think this was needed at all as the story was strong enough without it.
These bits aside I did still enjoy the story. I was instantly invested in the characters again, and not just the main ones. It feels like we have got to know all the peripheral characters so well by this point that I wanted to know about them too.
This was a good end to the trilogy and it was great to get the closure on it.

Avenging Devil Part 1 is the third book in the San Diego chapter if Manda Mellett’s Satan’s Devils series, and the first in a two-part story. (It ends on a cliffhanger – be warned!). Avenging Devil is pretty dark, even by the standards of the other Satan’s Devils books which address plenty of difficult and at times scary issues. I would definitely recommend reading some of the other Satan’s Devils books first – Being Lost is the first in the San Diego chapter and a good place to start. Avenging Devil starts with scenes in a different Motorcycle Club that’s incredibly violent and disrespectful and for me knowing that the Satan’s Devils aren’t at all like that helped me get through those scenes. I could not put this book down, and when I had to at times I was still thinking about it. And I knew it was a two part story and could see I was getting near the end but I was still totally unprepared for the cliffhanger. I went straight to get hold of the second part only to realise it’s not out yet. Oh no! So if you’re as impatient as me you might want to wait until the 23rd July 2021 so you can read both parts of the story together. I really like the ever-growing family of characters in the Satan’s Devils. From Grumbler’s musical hobbies to Snips’ toothless grins, they’re a fun group and bring moments of lightness and comic relief to the stories. For me, this is a five-star read and I cannot WAIT for the second part to come out! I would not recommend this as a starting point in the series – there are plenty of good entry points (I started off with Paladin’s Hell, you could also start with Being Lost, Turning Wheels or Road Tripped) and this is a great series whether or not you’re interested in motorcycles – the characters are fantastic and Mellett presents a wonderfully human and diverse array of characters and relationships.

Avenging Devil Part 1: Satan’s Devils MC San Diego by Manda Mellett. This author ALWAYS takes me on a ride I never want to end. This book definitely isn’t for the faint of heart but it’s so worth every heart stopping moments it’s got. I’m a sucker for characters that have had life test them in ways no one should be able to survive and yet survive and thrive they do. These characters grabbed me by the heart and I won’t be forgetting them any time soon. This is a part one so keep that in mind if you don’t like waiting but oh is that wait going to be oh so good in the end. The characters are complex and relatable, they pulled me in with an ease that can sometimes be rough to accomplish but this author did it effortlessly. The storyline is well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I can’t wait for part two and even more from this amazing author. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

Ok, I am now thoroughly convinced that Manda Mellett is an AMAZING author! Avenging Devil Part 1 is the third book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego Series. What a book this was! It was complex and dark and downright so freaking good! There are so many twists and turns and emotional ups and downs, that you really don’t know what to do with yourself at times. Saffie hasn’t had the easiest life but when she marries into the MC world she never expected the life that she has. She knows she needs to get out and fast but she doesn’t even know how to attempt to leave. That’s when Niran comes in and knows that he needs to help her. Reading this book makes my heart break for Saffies character and Niran shows up when Saffie needs him the most. I loved this book and the author that wrote it. It already states that this book is Part 1 so therefore you know that this is a cliffhanger and the second book is around the corner. But what you don’t know is how much of an impact the cliffhanger really is! However, you do need to read the book to find out! You can read this book as a standalone but you know me, I always say to start at the beginning. You won’t be disappointed!

I am a huge fan of this author. Some of her books I love, some I don’t care for and others are just meh. This one didn’t fall in the love category. While I respect the time and effort (I cant imagine the research for Saffie’s part) it took to put these words down..it is an okay book. I like movement (forward motion for the characters and story) and action. The characters in here (Saffie had the most) had little movement. I am saying that gently as I don’t want to discount the horrific life that Saffie has endured. The story just didn’t really go too far. Not much action other than what happened to Saffie. I am guessing a lot of this will change in the second part.
I do always enjoy seeing the members in their natural habitat—haha. Their joy at being together as a club and friends. Its clearly evident in here how much they care for each other and the club. There were a few new characters introduced that I loved to hate. I’m sure they were written that way and could change in the next part but bleh right now.
Overall its an okay story. I was truly horrified, saddened and disgusted for Saffie’s sake. Niran’s confused me at times but I did get to see what kind of mettle he has. I am hoping for more in the second part.

This is the third book of the devil series. Yet again miss Mellett hit it in the head with another show stopper. This is a two parter and am the edge of my seat waiting for the next part. I need to know what happens next.
There are so many twist and turns in this story as usal the character are well though out and developed and you get a connection to them all. It such a hard read as it touches real life subject is so intense it has you sweating.
Staffie now this character has been through so much i adore Niran S well and how they connect.

Avenging Devil Part 1: Satan’s Devils MC San Diego is the third book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series by Manda Mellett.
I am already a fan of this series and couldn’t wait for a new addition to it, these books just keep getting better! I love them. This story mainly follows Niran and Saffie who meet by chance at the hospital. When Saffie needs a strong arm and a shoulder to cry on, Niran offers his strength and friendship. When he realises that his feelings towards Saffie are more than that of friends, he has his work cut out for him as Saffie struggles with his loyalty to the MC world.
As always with this author’s work, the story tackles some difficult, but very real, storylines. There are bucket loads of angst and emotion, it certainly isn’t an easy journey for the pair. You get to catch up with a few familiar faces too, which I really enjoy. I can’t wait to read book two in this series.
