Courage of Us (Code of Honor Book 1) by Brooke May – Review by Michelle Mulvey

Courage of UsCourage of Us by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Courage of us by Brooke May was an absolute great read. I was hooked from the very first page. The author gives the reader happy parts, sad parts and funny parts. This book has it all. I almost felt like I knew the characters.

Duke and Patience have been best friends forever. Their parents are best friends and they used to bathe Duke and Patience together when they were younger. Patience has no female friends but her group of guys are all she needs. Duke and Patience obviously have a stronger bond but all of them protect her as if they are her older brothers.
They have graduated and most of the guys are all headed off in the next few days to different branches of the military.
Patience chooses one special night to confess to Duke that her feelings run much stronger then friendship. The only problem with that is, when she wakes up he is gone. She doesn’t know if she ruined her friendship with her best friend over one crazy night or what.

Duke hides the fact that he too is joining the military. He doesn’t tell Patience his plans. Now he has been away for 7 years and has thought of her every single day since he left. He can’t believe she went and married the loser she was dating even after the night they spent together.

When Duke finally comes home for good, he runs into Patience that first night. Can they pick up where they left off or is their friendship gone after what he did to her? A lot has happened in the last 7 years. Patience has baggage, Duke has baggage, lots of secrets. So much has happened. Will their chemistry they always had get them back to where they should be or is 7 years just to long to be away from each other.

I absolutely loved this book. Patience is one strong girl who can do anything she sets her mind to.

Addie: To Wager on Her Future (Other Pens, Mansfield Park book 5) by Leenie Brown – Review by Shani Kenny

Addie: To Wager on Her Future (Other Pens, Mansfield Park #5)Addie: To Wager on Her Future by Leenie Brown
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love historical romances that introduce such a strong-willed female character as it wasn’t necessarily a “thing” in the time period. In this book, we’re introduced to Addie who is as strong-willed as they come. She doesn’t want to be like most other women who are brought up to follow a certain regime as a lady. Instead, she wants to ride her horse astride rather than to the side, be viewed as an equal, have her knowledge and opinions celebrated instead of looked down upon. Because she prefers the company of her horses than actual people, she is able to hide away from a lot of social rules.

When she suddenly has to take on the role of caretaker for her family’s business and farm, it’s a lot more than she bargained for. With her father’s illness, it isn’t easy for her to balance everything, but she’s determined to do so and make them not only stay afloat but a success. Things make a turn when her brother ends up in some trouble and brings along a man that will do what it takes to get what he’s owed, even at someone else’s expense.

Robert too loves horses and is surrounded by them every single day. He’s followed his family into business and has loved everything about it. It’s his life’s work and he wants to expand and do more. His own determination in life mirrors Addie’s. Upon their meeting, it’s clear to him that she is something special.

Together they try to figure out how to help her family, keep things going and figure out if they should ignore the attraction that courses between them. Their chemistry is so on point, and steamy! I really loved the way the author portrayed her characters. They fit the time period so well, but yet there are modern traits visible in all of them. I adored Addie! Her journey isn’t easy, but it really makes up who she is. This is such a sweet, yet steamy historical read. It’s fantastic!

This epic novel included action and spirituality, a good combination. The adventure follows the lives of many individuals and how they interact with each other and the world the inhabit. The interacting storylines help to make this novel a very interesting read. KH Jones has build a vibrant world full of dynamic characters that capture your imagination. The second installment into the continuing journey of Ian Troy did not disappoint. The epic adventure just keeps getting better. C.L. Schneider built a dynamic world and I really enjoyed immersing myself in it. The trials and triumphs of Ian Troy and his fellow travelers endured were both exhilarating and at times sad. This epic adventure was a great continuation of Ian Troy’s story and C.L. Schneider’s dynamic world. I look forward to the final installment.

Testament of Feats: Book of Judgement Book One by K.H. Jones was an exciting adventure. I lived how easily this novel pulled me in and Carrie away. I started reading and next thing I knew, several hours and chapters had passed. This novel had an excellent storyline and unique characters. This is a brand new author to me and I really had no idea what to expect at all. The description gave nothing away which just intrigued me more. The story that unfolds in this book is just incredible. The author has such attention to detail – from the world he is creating to the characters and their stories.
This book had absolutely everything you could want. Action, adventure, fantasy, it truly has it all. This book has blown me away and I cannot wait to read the next one.

Naughty & Nice (Spicetopia #4) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Karyn Taylor

Naughty & NiceNaughty & Nice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Naughty & Nice is the 4th book in the amazing Spicetopia series by Phoebe Alexander. I have read many books by Phoebe Alexander now and this is definitely up there among my favourites. This has been a fantastic series and I hope it will continue.
Spicetopia is an anything goes, adult theme park, so when virgin Minister Micah Greene arrives to officiate the wedding of Spicetopia creators Cy Sweet and Jolie Cox, he is certainly in for an eye opener and comes to re-evaluate many of his beliefs. Helping him on his new ‘journey’ is Spicetopia event planner Natalie Roux, who is coordinating the wedding.
It was fantastic to see old favourite characters appear in this book but I was totally gripped by the interactions of Micah and Natalie. Watching Micah being introduced to new things and seeing his reaction to them, made this a fantastic story to read. Seeing the struggle he has with his religious beliefs and also the growing friendship between him and Natalie made for an amazing read.
This story has a fair bit of angst, not just from Micah and Natalie but also from Cy and Jolie as they deal with his parents, but as with other Phoebe Alexander books, the sexy times are well and truly smoking hot.

The Traveler: Chimera Rebellion (The Book of Eleanor Book 1) by Shannon Nemechek – Review by Angela Hayes

The Traveler: Chimera RebellionThe Traveler: Chimera Rebellion by Shannon Nemechek
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Traveler: Chimera Rebellion is the first book in The Book of Eleanor Series by Shannon Nemechek. It is a time travel fantasy- with magic, mystery, witches, history, war, love, suspense, drama, action and adventure. This has the feel of “Outlander”, but with a flavour all its own. I really enjoyed this first book and am looking forward to continuing with the rest of the series.
Katie Butler is a Major in the US Army- and she has no idea that her love of old books will catapult her on an adventure through time- and to a date with destiny. While on leave, Katie hears of a rare book which piques her curiosity and she is determined to track it down. This leads to her to being swept back in time- and smack bang into the middle of a war- crossing paths with Captain Colm O’Donnell. This twist of fate will be revealing in more ways than one. Will she find a way back ‘home’, or will fate intervene?
This is a fast-paced story that’s full of intrigue, excitement, surprises, and some suspense- which kept me hooked, and flipping pages to discover what would happen next.
The characters are fantastic, they are really well crafted into fully realised individuals who have a great connection and chemistry.
I loved the time travel aspect to the story, it was quite cleverly done. The story is detailed and very descriptive- so wonderfully woven with rich and vivid historical elements.
This book is such a great way to start the series- I can’t wait to read the next book!

Thank you, Ms. Nemechek!!

Shane wants to put roots down somewhere and live a quiet life. His witch band mates have different ideas. They want stardom. This was another thrilling paranormal romance novel. It’s an exciting addition to the Crescent City Wolf Pack series. The story was based solely on Shane and Bekah but it was nice to see older characters reappear. I love this series and now I have to wait for a fourth part.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Misplaced is the second book in the Joined series. At first it doesn’t seem like you’d need to read the first one in order to really keep up with this book. It’s like a standalone through most of it. I’d read the first one just to be safe though.

I liked the world building and there are a lot of colorful characters. There are places where the story is slow moving, but overall it is a pretty smooth read. I also liked that, while this is fiction, there are some historical elements mixed in. I can’t put my finger on it, but the whole time I was reading the story I kept feeling like something was missing. Still, the overall reading experience was good.

4-Stars

Misplaced (Joined Book Two) by Mara Gan is an intriguing romance novel. The fantasy novel takes readers into another world. Media awakens on a sandy beach with no recollection of who she is. She cant do anything but has a unique ability that makes her very different from those around her. She uses different means to gather food and that is how she meets K.

This book is very different than the first one in this series. Characters from the first book are mentioned way later in the novel which makes me feel that it can be read as a standalone. It has an easy storyline and Meda is a fun character to follow. She is sweet, witty, and smart. I loved her in this story. I enjoyed the other characters as well but she was definitely my favorite. I enjoyed this book.

What a surprise this series was! I was anxious when I heard about the second generation as I was dying to know who would be first, and I’m so glad it was Amy!
This was just a bit different than the previous series stories, but also its the first book so it has to set the scene too. Lets just say I’m used to more “tricks” and groveling, but this worked for these 2.
I cannot wait to see where this goes and how it all plays out.

A Song to Remember: A Crescent City Wolf Pack Novella is the third book in the Mystifying Music series by Carrie Pulkinen. It is a fantastic paranormal romance- with werewolves, witches, second chances, betrayal, danger, supernatural elements, mystery, suspense, drama, and plenty of sizzle….. and once again set against the vibrant, colourful and mystical backdrop that is New Orleans.
The characters are really fantastic and really made this story come alive. They were really interesting and very well developed. I loved Shane and Bekah, they were so great, I was full on board right from the beginning, and cheering them on the whole way through.
As I have said on more than one occasion- Ms. Pulkinen is one of my favourite authors and I have developed a severe addiction to her work- but, this is one addiction that I am more than happy to indulge- no rehab needed, ever!
Looking forward to whatever she has in store for us next!

India Kells grabbed me on page one. This fast paced story took off. I could not put it down, good thing I’m retired. This story has everything you could ask for. The characters just fit right in this story. I love that Cleo can defend herself. I love a strong woman, and Cleo is that strong. Then there is Mason, while he is strong and wise he does not treat Cleo like she is helpless. You have to read it to believe it! Well done Maddie Wade & India Kells!!!

Hidden Obsession (An Alliance Agency Novel #2)Hidden Obsession by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hidden Obsession is the second book in India Kells and Maddie Wade’s An Alliance Agency series. It is another action packed romance from the duo that sets you at the edge of your seat from Chapter 1! I love their writing and any time they release something new, I am there with bells on!
Hidden Obsession gives us a violet haired office manager Cleo Darwin who is the embodiment of control and organization, and Mason Bentley who is the only one of the Agency staff that does all his paperwork on time and has a rigid control of his life but that is not the only thing that makes Cleo’s heart beat a bit faster when he is around.
When Cleo is attacked and targeted, it is Mason who steps in and the rest is history as we say! We have loads of action, loads of danger and heat, a sinister antagonist and a family of co-workers that are there for each other whenever you need! I loved that we met the guys from the prequel and the first book again and I cannot wait for the next one in the series!

Rule The Larussio Legacy (#1)Rule The Larussio Legacy by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am so excited for this series! And even though this is book one, I highly recommend you read the Torzial Affair series first as this is actually a continuation of that series. In this book we meet the Larussio’s – the family Katarina didn’t know she had until recently. Someone has attempted to murder her parents and her father has named her and her cousin Gio, whom she has never met, as beneficiaries of his living will. They are in charge of seeing her father’s dreams for the family come to fruition.

In finding this out, Gio and his great-uncle travel to New York to meet Katarina and find out if she’s for real or a fake out to get the family’s money. On the flight over, Gio meets Serena and can’t get over the instant attraction he has to her. The thing is, even though the attraction is mutual and HOT, she is terrified of The Family and wants nothing to do with Gio.

As is typical with Mari’s books, this one is full of suspense, twists and turns, romance, sexiness, and lots of action! I loved this book and can’t wait to see where this series takes us next!

Renegade (The Mercenaries #1) by Raven White – Review by Jenni Bishop

Renegade (The Mercenaries #1)Renegade by Raven White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Renegade (The Mercenaries Series Book 1) by Raven White suspense romance story that is a quick and easy read. I enjoyed this story but felt it could have been a little more rounded out in some areas. The characters are your typical alpha ex-military men, brothers in arms who will do anything for each other. I mean who doesn’t love to read about those types of men.

Eliza has always loved music, but she wakes in hospital not knowing what happened. Her brother decides he needs help to keep her safe. She is one sassy woman who doesn’t want help but is unable to make them see her point of view.

Renegade drops everything he is doing to help one of his brothers. His mission is to protect the beautiful woman someone tried to kill. But who will protect him from himself? Renegade soon gets much more than he bargained for.

If you enjoy sassy woman and military alphaness then grab a copy. It will entertain you for an afternoon escape.

Running In Snow: A Holiday Novella by Renee Regent – Review by Michelle Mulvey

Running In Snow, A Holiday NovellaRunning In Snow, A Holiday Novella by Renee Regent
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

2 short novellas by Renee Regent will leave you with a smile on your face. Both of these novellas are sweet happy reads just in times for Christmas that you will love

Noelle has had a rule to never celebrate Christmas since she was a little girl. She never does gift exchanges with friends or coworkers but this year she was invited to her boyfriends family celebration. She feels a bit uncomfortable for a little while until the moment arises and she goes running. To many memories are brought back to the surface and she cannot handle it. Will she make it back to Logan and have a happy ending or was this trip a big mistake. Loved this book. Loved the characters…and you will too!

Eve’s Hope
Last year Eve had a horrible New Year’s Eve so this year she plans on staying home in comfy clothes watching an X-Files marathon. Now she finds herself bundled up in her warmest clothes including a parka because she has no heat and no one is able to come fix it for her. Suddenly, her hot neighbor knocks on the door and invites her over to his house for a little get together. She wants to decline because it is a last minute invite but at least he has working heat.
The last person she expects to see over at Kirks house is a guy she had spent a night with not to long ago. She tries hiding from him but somehow he found her and was harassing her about getting together again. Can this New Year’s Eve get any worse? Sure it can but it can also get a lot better.

2 great reads you will be glad you read. Renee Regent is an amazing author and these novellas are no different from her great writing style.

Naughty & Nice (Spicetopia Book 4) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Jessica Leombruno

Naughty & NiceNaughty & Nice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Naughty & Nice by Phoebe Alexander is the fourth book in the Adult-Theme Park series. It’s the wedding that we have been waiting for at Spiceopia. Natalie Roux is feeling the pressure to put on the first big event which just happens to be her boss’s wedding. But it’s the officiate Micah Greene that will have Natalie thinking naughty and not so nice thoughts. Each book in this series has brought something different but Natalie and Micah might be my favorite. There was just something about them that I couldn’t put this book down. I can’t wait to see if there will be more books for this series. I highly recommend this series my naughty BookNerds.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hidden Obsession (An Alliance Agency Novel Book 2) by Maddie Wade & India Kells
4-Stars

Hidden Obsession (An Alliance Agency Novel Book 2) by Maddie Wade & India Kells is an action packed romance. Cleo is organized and a strong woman. When she is attacked and it is clear that the Amman who attacked her targeted her for a reason, Mason steps in. Mason is silent and sexy. Both have hidden a crush on the other for some time but no more. To keep her safe Mason keeps her close and their love blossoms. Can they find the stalker before he hurts Cleo any more than he has already done?

This novel was fast paced and easy to read. It can be read as a standalone from the series. I loved the development of the main characters and how well they fit together. The antagonist was also developed well and was very sinister. I had no problem breezing through this novel. It was a great action packed read.
