I love supernatural and paranormal type books and this really fit the bill. I love how the author brings the characters to life. The story has enough drama in it and has just the right touch of romance to balance out. The story has an original plot and story line.
I love how there is a beginning of monsters aren’t real and then wham all you thought was make believe is real. This really just made the book for me. I like how the chemistry evolves between the main characters and blossoms. I really look forward to reading more from this series and author.

What another great science learning book in this series. This is such a great tool to help young children learn science. The characters are well written and are able to draw the young child’s attention and aid in their learning process. The author does a great job to to engage the young readers imagination and aid in their learning. The author simplifies the subject and makes it easy to understand. I really recommend this series to anyone who has young children and wants to get their children into loving learning. Definitely worth the read.

In this book we find ourselves in London England in 1888. We meet Evaline our main character. She is untrained in magic, but does her best to summon her mothers shade who she misses dearly. Accidentily summoning her mothers shade is how our story begins.
After that Evaline uses her mothers journal to follow the clues to see if she can figure out what happened to her and if she can reverse it. We travel with Evaline as she faces the challenges of an unsupportive and scared father, and many other challenges that I don’t want to spoil for you. (so do yourself a favor in read this awesome book.)
Along her journey she meets Delbert, a wannabe detective, The Governor, Mr. Culpepper and many other characters that keeps this story funny, fast paced and very interesting from start to finish.

Caged Fire follows EmVee, a girl who has a mysterious past on her continuing journey to find her family’s secrets with the help of some new friends. One day, someone from her past reenters her life. From there, she struggles between finding her family, figuring out the family secrets, and figuring out if she could trust this person from her past. Full of relatable characters, Caged Fire keeps the reader guessing and intrigued. Caged Fire is unique and there was not a single moment I did not like. Emotions such as confusion, love, mistrust, betrayal, and others are clearly portrayed and makes the reader feel right along with the characters. Caged Fire is a must read. It is a quick, fun read that will keep you guessing. I highly suggest reading the prequel Insatiable Darkness first, as it sets the stage for Caged Fire, but you would not be entirely lost if you decided not to. In all, Caged Fire is a must read!

“The Mermaid and the Watery Magnifying Glass” was a cute story. Friends, Fig and Maia, are building a stone tower. They get some help from Maia’s mermaid friend, Trezzie. Fig shows them how to make a water magnifying glass to look at the stone Trezzie gave them. I love the characters in this story! Fig and Maia seem to have a close friendship, and Trezzie adds an element of imagination. I did not read the other books in this series, but still found this book enjoyable on its own. I recommend this story for elementary age children, especially children who love science.

This series is getting better and better. With all the character and plot development, it is hard to put it down. The author knows how to grab your attention and hold it throughout the book. Caged Fire is Book One in The Vigilant series by L.M Preston. It comes after the novella length prequel that set us up for the series. This story continues what we started in the prequel and is another intriguing YA fantasy with even more going on for EmVee and co. She is in the thick of things here, facing challenges and situations she never even contemplated only a short while ago. Events have left her shaken. Now she has little choice but to confront the past, monsters, and so much more- life is about to test her like never before. I wonder where we go from here. EmVee has just moved to a new town with her parents where they have opened a new business and they all have a passion for boxing and EmVee herself has a dream to go semi-pro with it and although this new place is small, she is hoping that she can still achieve that dream. So when she heads to school for her first day, all she can think of is that all the jocks are drop dead gorgeous and the cheerleaders are stunningly beautiful, but they are also quite strange, not to mention the other pupils there as well, who are also a bit unusual, but as soon as she arrives, she is befriended by two of the jocks, Kayson and Silas.
As she settles into a new routine and making new friends, she notices that things are a bit off and starts to worry that her parents have gotten in a bit over their heads and EmVee starts to suspect that things are not what they seem and she decides to investigate, but will she and her friends be able to solve the mystery before things go from bad to worse and the danger becomes too much? This is a fantastic prequel which gets you hooked into the mystery and the characters in the series in the best possible way and leaves you wanting more.

Tale of the body Thief is book 1 in the Rovena Silvex Series. This is the first book that i have read by this Author, This is also not my go to Normal read but I’m so happy i gave this book a chance. Tale of the body thief had me sucked in right from the begging. Rovena is a tough and strong lady i really enjoyed reading about her and look forward to reading more in the next book of this series. The only problem i have with this book is that book two is not out yet :). I Seriously cannot wait to read more about Rovena and her journey. I highly recommend this book and think you should give it a chance even if it takes you out of your comfort zone it will be worth it. Thanks to this author for a great read and i look forward to reading more books by you in the future.

I can never get enough of this wonderful author. Their works of the writing they create always keep me entertained and wanting more. Each book they complete, and I read, I truly devour!
This one was a great start to a thrilling new series. I loved the characters and what they had brought to the table. They had their own sense of drama, being funny, and going after what the journey would bring. The book had a lot of action and great description of visual effects. The author really crafted a magical book, and I could not put this one down. I loved the pace of the story as well. I could not let this go. The talk of magic and how it played its part was wonderful and full of intrigue as well. I could not get enough of this wonderful book. It was a epic journey and adventure, that I long to take again!
Again, love this author for all that they create! This book was such a fun and thrilling read. I can’t wait for the next installment! Highly recommend this must-read book, and awesome start to a new series

Another wonderful science story for children. The author has a great way of creating storylines that certainly get children thinking scientifically and its great as a starting point for encouraging them to have a go at the activities the characters do in the story. You leap right in and hit the ground running with this short story. Caged Fire is fast-paced and action packed. It is a paranormal story mixed with fantasy and science fiction. It is written in the third person so it took me a while to get into flow of it. Lots of action and suspense, betrayal and mystery, love and sacrifice see our heroine on a journey to find her dad’s killer.
Emvee was changed in a world full of magic and werewolves. A dark world she knew nothing about. Now she needs help but she has no idea who she can to trust.
The story leaves you with many more mysteries left to be answered.

Insatiable Darkness is the prequel to The Vigilant Series and is a YA/Fantasy that’s packed with mythology, mystery, drama, and some supernatural. This is a very short story that can be read in one sitting. This is a fairly new author to me and I look forward to seeing what other books she has written. I was very intrigued by the storyline and the characters. The characters are fun relatable and fully developed. This is a story about EmVee. EmVee and her family move to a new town where her parents run a gym. They are professional Boxers and Emvee is as well. She starts a new school where something weird is happening. Several sports students have gone missing and whoever is doing it is leaving behind certain parts. Can they figure out who it is and why before its too late? There’s a couple of twists and turns that had me turning the pages trying to figure out what was going to happen next. I don’t want to give away to much but I do highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Never more have I wanted to fall down a rabbit hole or jump through a mirror! Branson brought this fantasy story to life in ways no one else could! This strange world that is introduced vividly stuck with me as I read through. Each chapter brought a new element of excitement with the unknown of what is next. Gaslight fantasy is very new to me, however it makes for a very interesting read. Evaline was a great MC and her plight to prove herself and live her life as she chooses made me fall in love with her character all the much more. As she explores in this unknown place trying to help take down Doctor Death you see her in her element. Every character introduced and encountered along the way bright such life to the story. The mix of magic, mystery, and suspense made it difficult to even attempt putting the book down.

This was a really good read! I was enthralled and the story telling is fantastic. I felt like I was actually there with the characters. It was so easy to get immersed in each characters “story” that come together at the end to weave a fantastic tale. My only complaint is the chapter lengths. It felt like a fast paced book but with each chapter being very lengthy and long, I felt like the story was dragging when in reality it wasn’t. That’s my only complaint. Super long chapters that made the book seem slow paced even though it was not.

EmVee and her family moved to a new town called Newport. It did not take long for EmVee to realize that there was something strange about this town and find that her family was in danger. Insatiable Darkness follows EmVee while she tries to find who is threatening her family, unknowingly endangering her life as well. The characters in Insatiable Darkness are relatable and mysterious. The story is full of twists, turns, and surprises. Some of the wording was awkward, making it not flow as smoothly as it could, which is why I did not rate it a 5-star. Still, Insatiable Darkness is a fun, quick read and sets the stage for the next book in the series.

I was drawn in by the beautiful cover and intriguing title. I loved that the story was told from more than one character’s perspective. I thought the language was vivid and entertaining. Very quick introduction to the series. EmVee is the new kid in town, who moved in with her trained boxer parents. In an effort to make an impression, EmVee quickly makes some friends and gets the notice of a couple of good looking high school guys. After getting herself in trouble a couple of times, she has to resort to sneaking out to find out what brought her parents here, any why kids are going missing.
This book offers lots of surface information, and quickly. It doesn’t get terribly involved, but keeps you interested in the story and coming back for the next in the series!

This book was so adorable and informative. I like how it explains things on a child level. All the lessons worked perfectly in this book. The author did an amazing job with teaching and entertaining. I fell in love with Kristy’s work after reading Deliverance. Tale of a Body Thief is the first book in this series and a story that had me captivated from the very beginning. When I saw this book out, I jumped to grab a copy. It is a paranormal story with non-stop action and adventure, mayhem and madness, drama and suspense, thrills with gripping danger and let’s not forget the romance.
I love the unexpected and that you never know what you are going to get with Kristy’s writing and it keeps you on your toes. The storyline is well thought out and the characters are well developed and interesting. I enjoyed the character banter and the humour Kristy infuses in her tales.
I suggest you grab a copy and dig in. You will not be disappointed if you love paranormal/supernatural.

Maia, Fig, and Trezzie, their mermaid friend, are back for another adventure. Trezzie finds an interesting fossil and Fig teaches them how to make a magnifying glass out of a plastic container so they can see the marks on the fossil better. The story is really cute and a great explanation of how magnifying glasses work is included. This would be a great book for teachers or parents to use to introduce magnifying glasses before having students experiment with a homemade one.

Death & Mirrors is the first book in the All Things Dark & Deadly series. It’s a captivating fantasy story full of magic and mystery. References to Alice in Wonderland and Sherlock Holmes indicate that these are significant influences on the book, and it shows!
Evaline is grieving her mother, and trying to piece together the archaeological expedition that led to her mysterious death. She’s also coming of age, and coming into her full powers, without the guidance and support of her mother.
There’s plenty of great world building here, with both a sort of historical urban fantasy setting and the weird and dangerous mirror world. Both settings are engaging and immersive, with details that bring them to life.
This book will appeal to fans of fantasy mysteries and Victorian/Edwardian settings. If you’re someone who goes for every “dark re-imagining of Alice in Wonderland” you can get your hands on (which I totally am I even went to the theatre last week to see one!) you will love this book! It gets five stars from me.

This is another cute adventure of a mermaid and her human friend. Trezzie, the mermaid, is back with an adventure in the science world. This time it is learning how to make a magnifying glass with a few drops of water. The author once more combines a popular kids fantasy creature with the world of science. It makes science fun and exciting for little ones of any gender. The experiment was easily able to be replicated at home. Both my niece and nephew cannot wait for the next Trezzie adventure and what science fun they can try next time.

Set in a time where women are seen as possessions and inferior to men, we get to see a forward-thinking heroine looking for a chance to live the life she’s always dreamed of. I normally stay away from historical fiction, or fantasy in this case, because I prefer the freedoms of our current time; however, I deeply enjoyed reading this book. The strength of the main character and her tenacious attitude kept me focused from the start. Then there’s the fantastical and paranormal aspect to the book that I found so unique and refreshing! I also loved how everything started to fall into place as the story went on and the mystery began to unfold. I’m looking forward to book two!
