An extremely well done look into what happens if suddenly a subset of the population suddenly changes… You can suddenly change your eye color, move things with your mind… cool right? No! new things breed mass hysteria and fear and people with abilities are hunted, arrested and attacked…even though they’ve never lifted a finger against others. We meet a few characters who have been through world changing experiences and find themselves thrust into protecting others like them. Do they rally together, or is there traitors in their ranks?
this is an intriguing opener to a world of fantasy and emerging powers I’m interested as to where the author takes this group of characters.

She vows to keep the streets safe, while at the same time trying to harness the dragon eye’s abilities. Will she figure out the eye’s secrets and use it for good? Dahlia is always stretched to her limits and this time is no different. Unfortunately the impending destruction of her adopted home makes her worry if she will be enough to stop it all. After all how can she help the whole city? She’s only one half dragon shapeshifter. Dahlia shies away from the latest murder spree, but the victims’ identities grip her. Trying to unravel the truth, she uncovers something deeper. Of course! Nothing can ever be simple right? This mystery and the many threads of murder tying together are impossible to ignore and she has to find out who is behind this plot once and for all. Who is against her at every turn! Could this all lead back to the beginning? What does Ella have to do with it all? Will this bring the linked worlds into the light more? Will her new team help her to save the city once and for all? Man oh man!! Such a great set! I didn’t want to put it down! This set had me up late all week, so I could binge the whole thing. I can’t wait to finish book 5 now!! Less sleep but SO WORTH IT!!!!!

Dahlia Nite is back again with more murder mysteries piling up all around her. She has become a “fire consultant” for the police of Sentinel City, which helps her stay close to the “more interesting” (aka more bizarre) cases. The ones that she needs to help cover up before the veil of creatures and worlds are exposed to the fragile humans. She has hunted creature from the torn veil to keep humanity safe for almost a century now. She knows her monsters, but now something is throwing it all off. Something is different. But what is it? Smells and emotions are off. Are these victims really human? Or something else?? People are mutating and she can’t smell anything but human before they combust! Yes they combust! As in up in flames!!! Combusting humans from homeless to high-class are drawing attention so fast that it’s hard to cover up. Dahlia and her human partner (Creed) investigate the deaths but only come up with more questions and even more bodies. The public is on the verge of a major panic that can consume the whole city! Is this a virus? Is it contagious?? She needs to move fast and find what or who is at fault! Can her sidekick help to figure out that is going on? Will the queen step in and just take care of her at the same time? Two birds one stone? Man this book kept me on my toes!! I CAN NOT wait to read the rest in this set!!! I REALLY want this to become a movie! If done right I can totally see this set becoming a movie series!!
This book was absolutely amazing! I have loved this series since book one and could not wait to see what this book held for me. The action started right away. The destruction and travesty were devastating, but Dahlia and her friends chose to fight the evil. The characters have developed so much throughout this series. They are what really make this so good. The evolution of Dahlia while still keeping to her beliefs. The friends she has forged and the new ones she meets along the way.
But the story is what really kept me from not being able to but the book down. The story is so original and gripping. So many things are happening at once. Just when you think it’s over, it’s really just begun. The world the author has created — so descriptive and imaginative. The author weaves this fantastic tale with intriguing characters into a masterpiece.
The last book in the series, the previous books need to be read first. But if you are a fan of urban fantasy, you really need to read this book and series.
All I can say is wow. This is the final book of the series and it definitely delivered. I have said it before, this author’s stories are epic and remind me of some of the great fantasy authors like JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis. The author created a dynamic world and story which I was really loving. I cannot wait to see more from her.
This series just keeps getting better and better. Once again I was delighted by the vibrant world and story that this author created. Dahlia Nite is a heroine that captures your attention and your respect. Taking part in her journey as she works to unravel the mystery that is taking place has been really interesting and fun. This author builds a dynamic world and I enjoyed my time in it.
It’s just an Apocalypse !?! Dahlia is once again working to protect the innocent but this time it might just be too much to bear. Half of her time is missing, she is trying to prevent the apocalypse, and still has to figure out how to repair the Veil between worlds. Will she be able to come up with a solution in time? Will Dahlia be able to prevent the apocalypse? Will she survive it?
I was quickly drawn in and completely absorbed in this story. I didn’t put it down. This the final installment to this series was action packed. I would recommend giving it a read!

Another Dahlia Nite story and its just as good as the others. I have absolutely loved this series, I would recommend reading them in order though. The depth of the characters, how they interact, and where their relationship comes from are all built throughout the series. I also love how while there is a main issue within each story there is also an arch tying them all together. I can’t wait to read the next book!

Dahlia Nite, the shapeshifting, scaled vigilante is back and it is the end of the world, or at least the beginning of the end, everything she thought she knew and trusted has been ripped apart at the seams and she doesn’t know where to go or what to do first and her list has just been added to again. As she recovers from the shock of the city being brought to its knees and the disappearance of half of her team without so much as a note or message to say where they have gone, she has to go on fighting for the place she has come to love and where has almost become home, but for Dahlia, as usual, nothing is straight forward.
First on the list is both to try and stay alive and keep those on her team which are left alive, this is easier said than done as rubble is strewn all over Sentinel City, fires are burning out of control and the skyline has been completely changed by the attack
.Second, she has to figure out a way to stop the blight and halt the spread of this over the linked worlds, while also trying to figure out where it came from and how it adapts to each environment so quickly.
Thirdly she has to find a way to close the exits which are forming as the veil slowly disintegrates and which are popping up all over the place and causing more trouble than they are worth, not to mention the influx of supernatural creatures which are using them.
In place number four, she has the mad scientist who is bent on world domination and who is thriving in the chaos around them and using it to their advantage.
Finally, she has the lovely dragon inside her who she hopes is about to divulge the information she needs to tackle all of the above, but who is also done with being blocked and starts to take matters into their own hands.
With all that commotion, there is no time for grief, emotion or sometimes even to breathe, but as Dahlia makes the hard choices, will she be able to complete all her tasks before the Renewal takes any chance away from her? This is a fast paced urban fantasy adventure full of action, adventure, hurdles and stress come together in this race against the end of the world where secrets and lies obstruct plans and those fighting to stop it are overwhelmed and under pressure to find a solution in the gripping final instalment to the series.
I can’t believe we are here… the final book! Dhalia is here again with her ragtag group of friends/team who really have become her family, her dragon and powers that continue to grow and still fighting the apocalypse of the blight. Can she save the ever shifting city… how about that dragon queen we’ve loved to hate… old enemies…. new enemies loss and gains are all part of this thrilling ending. This entire series was superb and needs to be at the top of your TBR series if you haven’t started!
We are starting with Dahlia and the world she knows being in absolute rubble and ruin. With the blight taking over and coming through and destroying her city, it’s a non stop fight. This is the last and final in this series. Please please read the beginning of the series. The attachment to the characters is an amazing part of the journey.
This book is full of intense emotions and intense feelings. It is a non-stop ride from beginning to end. The wrap up was wonderful. I couldn’t put it down.
I can’t believe this series is coming to an end and what an ending it was! I’ve grown to love Dahlia over this series and I really felt like I was right there with her in this story as she battled to save what remains of her new reality. Again the author wove a really exciting and engaging story that captured my attention from the very beginning and held it until the ending. I felt like Dahlia actually discovered a lot about herself in this. Although I am sad that this series is over I am definitely looking forward to seeing what comes next from them in the future.
Fiery action and finale The fifth and final book in a brilliant series. I have loved and engrossed with every single page of this book and the whole series. The characters, world building and storyline have been superb. With suspense, shifters, action and even an apocalypse this book had it all. Totally recommend but you must start from book 1.
Action, suspense and shifters Another fantastic instalment in the Nite Fire series. This is book 4 and the brilliance continues. Dahlia Nite, 1/2 dragon shifter has so much more on her plate as she navigates the ‘things that go bump’ in the night and desperately tries to stop the blight. The author brings so much more to the story as twists and turns has the reader making links across previous books. This series must be read from book 1 to really connect the dots. Now onto book 5, Exit Strategy.
Fantastical brilliance Absolutely love this series. The writing is spot on with a mix of paranormal, action and fantasy drama. This is the third book in the series and is just as brilliant as the previous two books. Best to read them in order as it does help to know the backstory and the characters more deeply. Dahlia Nite is a strong, talented and relatable FMC with snark. In this story she is faced with complex cases, unraveling lies and encroaching doom. So much going on and delivered seamlessly. Bring on book 4.

Exit Strategy is the fifth and final book in the Nite Fire series by C. L. Schneider. This has been a superb series to follow, and I have enjoyed it immensely. So, having said that, I was a little conflicted reading this final book- because on one hand I desperately wanted to know how everything played out in the end, but also not really wanting to say ‘goodbye’ to the series either….. If you have yet to read the other books in the series, I highly recommend that you do as the storyline follows on from the previous books and you really need to know what happens previously to fully appreciate this instalment. There is a lot of important information, character introductions and details, and relevant backstory contained in the previous four books, so do yourself a favour and read them before starting ‘Exit Strategy’- you’ll be glad you did… Dahlia Nite is the kick-a** dragon shifter vigilante we have been following on this adventure since the beginning. And if you have been following the series, then you know that a LOT has happened since we met her back in book one. She has strived to keep the streets safe, but with the veil between worlds fraying so quickly, the overwhelming hordes of monsters, the spreading blight, and the very fate of humanity all resting on her shoulders now means that Dahlia is being pushed beyond her limits. Her dragon will not sit back any longer- the apocalypse be damned!! Let the games begin!!!! Again, this is a fantastic action-packed urban fantasy that had me hanging on every word- and again, C.L Schneider didn’t disappoint, delivering a stellar ending to her fantastic series. Highly recommended for fans of epic urban fantasy- especially if you like plenty of action and adventure! Happy Reading!

I love all books about fae and magic, intrigue and mystery. You know it’s a good book when you start pulling on a thread and it unravels into something you didn’t expect or a place you didn’t think you’d wind up. This book has all the components that make a page turner of a book. From an unexpected heroine, a handsome fae, mortals rebelling against magic, to the breadth of new magic.
I absolutely love Chloe as the main heroine of the story. A mere mortal with a half brother that is a fae who has chosen to live in the mortal realm where she feels she belongs. In fact she has finally found her place as an apothecary in her mortal town, healing the residents with poultices mixed together from fae recipes. Her picture perfect life is unexpectedly interrupted by the one fae Chloe never wanted to see again Quintus. It hurts for a fae to need to come beg for help from a mortal especially with one that has so much history with him. But with the mortals having developed iron weapons and holding an entire fae castle hostage which also happens to be where Chloe’s sister is with her husband. Quintus has no choice but to go to Chloe after all it’ll take a mortal with extreme love on the line to combat the revengeful crowd that has descended onto the fairy castle. Can Chloe, a mere mortal not only save her sister and the fae but can she do it while guarding her heart against the one person that has the power to decimate it?
If you like fantasy novels mixed with action and romance in the form of enemies to lovers then this book is perfect for you. Or if you are looking for an engaging new read this is an excellent choice that may get you hooked on a new genre.

This book was so very good!! I am excited to read the 2nd book in the series to see where it goes. Chloe is a mortal who is happy to stay where she is in the mortal world but finds herself back in Faerie. Chloe is an apothecary who helps others without thinking about herself. While in Faerie, she grows and learns things about herself that she never noticed before. She finds herself trying to help both mortals and faeries.

After the world Dahlia lived in came crashing in around her, things in the Sentinel have changed drastically. With the threat of not only the apocalypse looming over her, a large portion of her team missing, the issue with the exits and blight, and the constant changes in the city she loves, Dahlia’s focus is split into too many directions. She must fight to save the innocents in the city and find a way to fix the apocalypse – if she can. I’ve been following this series for what feels like forever, and only yesterday. From day one when we were introduced to the heroine and brought into the incredible life she leads as a supernatural vigilante until now. It’s been a marvelous adventure, full of terror, mystery, hilarious moments, and true emotion. There’s nothing worse than an unsatisfying ending to an amazing story, in my opinion, and Exit Strategy was the perfect final book to end the series on. If you’ve been following this series, you need to read this last book!
Having only picked this book up as a standalone, it took a bit to get into and understand the worlds and creatures, but the author did a fabulous job describing everything for readers who haven’t already gotten into the series.
This book was an epic journey through worlds with creatures who struggle to survive an impending apocalypse. Dahlia and her crew catch up as they fight off invaders on Earth, try to piece together the puzzle of how to save all worlds from collapse, and face numerous battles with those who stand in the way. When Oren starts the apocalypse and then paints himself as earth’s savior while simultaneously working to alter or kill off creatures and humans for his own plans of survival, Dahlia and her team face seemingly impossible odds to stop him and repair the damaged veil that keeps all worlds separated. To make matters worse, she still has to figure out how to actually repair the veil and stop the blight that continues to feed on all of the destruction and violence.
This was a wonderful, original story with great characters and excellent world building.
This book centers around a mortal named Chloe, the town’s apothecary. She is on a quest to heal many of townspeople of an illness that is quickly spreading, and it is proving to be more difficult of a task than she imagined. As this is unfolding, a fae she knew from her time spent in Faerie has returned to the mortal realm. He demands her help to save Faerie from mortals who are trying to destroy it. Chloe is determined she is not leaving her realm, but eventually she realizes that sometimes things do not go as planned.
I absolutely loved this book! With the author’s writing style and detailed descriptions of the characters and their surroundings, I had no trouble visualizing the story clearly as I read along. It was so well written and everything unfolded at a perfect pace for me. While I do wish I had read the books in the previous series to be able to better piece together certain aspects, it by no means diminished the fact that the story held so much intriguing depth to it. I will definitely be picking up the previous series written of the Faerie realm, and I cannot wait to read the next book as well. Beautiful work, Kay L. Moody!

The author really captured me in her introduction and I couldn’t stop from devouring the book. The way these women, and their stories, were written was eloquent and fantastic. I loved the different strengths each woman had- it was really cool learning about them when the original tales made them secondary characters. Growing up I enjoyed learning mythology- especially Greek- and reading these classics from a woman’s point of view was invigorating! Now I want ALL my favorites written from that same point of view- and by this author!
Ancient Reflections: A Mythic Trilogy by Tamara Agha-Jaffar 5* This book looks at Greek mythology from the viewpoint of the females that experienced it first hand. As a teacher, I am very familiar with these myths and I truly think that hearing these stories from a female’s point of view was lovely. I enjoyed how the author kept the feelings that women have now in mind as she wrote. It definitely makes characters that can at times seem very unrelatable as we study Greek mythology much more relatable. I truly enjoyed reading these stories and will be remembering these viewpoints as I teach Greek mythology next time. If you aren’t a teacher but also enjoy mythology you will enjoy these stories as the characters are so relatable.

Finally a woman’s point of view is offered. I really enjoyed this book immensely. So many times, myths like this often neglect the female point of view. It was so refreshing to see that changed here. A modern twist on classic tales kept me glued to the pages, eager to read more. Each story tells of the difficulties that each face throughout their journey in such a way that you find yourself immersed in that world. The details are so exquisite and the author really paints a picture so that it feels as if you actually there. I highly recommend this book.

5 Stars Thorfinn and the Witch’s Curse (The Forerunner Saga Book 1)
Thorfinn and the Witch’s Curse is the first book in The Forerunner Saga and what a wonderfully written Fantasy story. I truly didn’t know what to expect going in but once I started reading I couldn’t put it down . This author knocked this one out of the park. Wow what amazing characters the story just flowed. I’m a bit of a Historical fan and this story definitely checked that box. This is a fast paced story packed with action, mythology,vikings and so much more. Get ready to be taken on quite the action packed adventure that transport you back in time .I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Mystery, family, magic, stories passed down from generation to generation, crusades, adventures, curses, and legends! What a great read although it was a bit slow to start for me and took about 30 pages for me to finally get into the book and characters. Many great characters are written in the book which I absolutely love in a good book. I love being able to select a character and follow along on each specific journey and relish the experiences through the eyes of all. Thorfinn is well written and easily relatable character and the journey he finds himself on is fantastic! I love the historical aspect of the book and the storytelling that takes place. It truly does feel like I am experiencing a time past and full of legends and stories and magic! I am looking forward to reading more about The Forefunner Saga and how the family fares through all the storms coming their way.

I enjoyed this fantasy, adventure story. This is the first book in this series and what a great start it is. This is also a new author for me which I look forward to reading the second book in this series. This is a well written story that ticked all the boxes for a fantasy story. I enjoyed being pulled into the story from the start. The author’s attention to details made the story realistic which made the story easy to read. I enjoyed how the characters are relatable and kept the story engaging. They made the story entertaining and made the story pop. The growth of the characters is great and I enjoyed how supportive they are of each other. A story that took me on an adventure that is full of action. It is a journey of an emotional connection that made the story hard to put down. This is a fast paced story that I highly recommend. It is a great adventure, a journey that you don’t want to miss.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel which is a mix of Viking and Saxon history, legends, adventure and a touch of fantasy, resulting in a real page turner. Set in the Viking Kingdoms of ninth century England, our young hero Finn, is living a normal, ‘Danelaw’ life. He practices his martial skills, does his chores and follows his brothers around, listening to scary stories of “ghostly curses, witches, soothsayers, and dangerous were-creatures”. Meanwhile, his father is plotting his apprenticeship and his family is preparing for a grand wedding. Everything changes for Finn, when his uncle sails home from the North having been exiled, and the the, “ghost of an ancient mage sits sentinel over his clan’s freehold”.
A witch’s curse then comes alive when a mishap turns Finn into a ‘Vardoger’, haunted by his own forerunner ghost. Suddenly the scary stories become a reality for Finn and he discovers a new realm beyond Midgard. Having to find his courage, a timid Finn struggles being a boy by day and a ghost by night, who even his own clan fears. As the witch is still hunting for revenge, Finn must defeat his enemies and save his uncle, whilst learning to live with his new half ghostly existence, and survive numerous murder plots. The descriptive narrative brings the setting vividly to life, and the added historical details make the era come alive as well. I loved the characters, especially Finn, who I felt engaged with throughout the story and I was really rooting for him! This was an exciting and engaging read, and I look forward to finding out what Finn and his clan will do in the next book.
