Hooks Little Mermaid: Captain Hook crosses paths with an enchanting mermaid, as he seeks revenge against Peter Pan by Suzanna Lynn is the first book in the Untold Stories series. This is a unique retelling of a well known story and the author has done a good job of taking the story and creating something new. The author manages to create a vivid picture of everything going on so it really felt like you were there. It would have been nice to see a little more of the dark Captain Hook that you are use to but it was good to see him in a whole new perspective. This was a front start to a new series and I am looking forward to reading the next.

I was very engrossed in this book. Pocock’s fantasy world is immersive, and the cast of characters are excellent. The two main protagonists are both on the cusp of adulthood, beginning to understand what their life has in store for them. Both Seth and Miriam are on a quest for truth and loyalty. The philosophies and limitations of their childhood are being tested, and both question their parent’s wisdom. As the realities of both worlds are at the brink of potential ruin, they are pitted against not just their families, but each other. The excitement increased the more I turned the pages, and I read this one through quickly and eagerly. Any fans of Fantasy or YA will be enthralled. If this is not your normal genre, I would encourage you to give it a go. You won’t be sorry.

This is the second book in The Untold Stories series. This is the story of Red Riding Hood and how she frees Rapunzel from her tower prison. Red is reunited with her friend, Captain Hook, who is looking for magical tools to help him rescue the mermaid princess. Red also befriends Lycos, the white wolf of the Blakx Forest. As secrets are uncovered, they all realize the witch that has taken over Oz has played a part in all their lives. This is another exciting story that weaves together various characters from different fairy tales.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read the rest of the series! This was an enchanting spin on the origin story of Captain Hook. Add Red Riding Hood and the Little Mermaid and you have an adventure full of surprises. Hook was not always the despicable pirate he has been made out to be. Setting out to destroy Peter Pan, Hook becomes entangled in a plot to overthrow Atlantis when he saves a mermaid princess.
This book was a very quick read, meaning I couldn’t put it down! I cannot wait to get the second book in The Untold Stories series. This is definitely a series I want to share with my granddaughter.

Fairy tale – check. Mash up of beloved fairy tales – check. Brilliantly merged stories that create a brand new universe of imagery and imagination – triple check. The author does a brilliant job weaving together a tale that felt familiar and original all at the same time. It was brilliant and I loved every page. And now I’m torn as to whether I should immediately reread this book or devour the next in the series. Maybe both!!!!!

This clever tale really captivated me in the first chapter. I like a good YA fantasy and this one had just the right amount of struggle and magic. In the paranormal genre often times we overlook the amazing world of the jinn. I loved how Huffmire explored this through the eyes of a 16 year old boy. Very well written.

This was an enjoyable read. I loved the story and the adventure that you are taken on. The author does a great job of creating the world of Edenia and describing the peoples abilities and dreams.
Miriam lives in Edenia. Everyone who lives there becomes Guardians of the secret garden. Everyone except her. Because of her Nature she is seen as different and rejected by her town. She doesn’t want to live in Edenia. She wants to leave and fine her own place in the world. However her mother forbids it. With changing times her mother says she needs to stay close.
Seth is a young kid who’s travelled the world with his father. When they end up in Edenia he hates it and doesn’t want to stay but with the threat of war and destruction he knows we have to stay. With his Edenia being his dad’s home the call for him to return means the whole family needs to return. Seth is also given a secret mission. He needs to find out the secrets that the people of Edenia are hiding. If he does this there is a way to save his sister but at what cost.
Could he betray the people of Edenia to save his sister? Will the war thats brewing mean the end of Edenia?Can Seth and Miriam work together to protect Edenia and its secrets and stop it getting into the hands of the wrong people?

Shape, shifting dragons, linked worlds and an imminent apocalyptic virus form the basis of this epic tale. This is the fourth in the saga although its easy to follow if you have not read the others. Dahlila, the protagonist, is easy likable with her spunky, brave, determined attitude. She cares about others and has a strong sense of right and wrong despite being brought up being taught the opposite and this really comes across with the author’s writing. I really enjoyed the character development playing out across the novel. The scene setting is brilliant I could really imagine myself in the Nite Fire universe. Looking forward to the next instalment.

Nite Fire: Slash & Burn by C. L. Schneider. These books just keep getting better. This author knows how to take readers on a ride they won’t soon forget. From start to finish I had a hard time living in the real world because all I wanted was to sink into the pages of this book. The characters are complex and truly unique, they bring this story to life so effortlessly. The storyline is well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed. I don’t want to give anything away so all I’ll say is go one click this entire series trust me you won’t regret it. Four big stars and highly recommended! Can’t wait to see where the author takes readers next.

Hooks little mermaid is a new version of the classic tale of Peter pan with a twist a certain sea witch and mermaid are involved. It’s great I loved it. You finally understand why captain Hook and Peter actually have a feud. Captain James Shaw who we come to know as Captain Hook was by far my favourite character he was written so well and you really see him in a different light, you will be pleasantly surprised

I enjoyed this book. It is full of action and fantasy. This is the first book in this series and I can’t wait to see what the next book brings. This is a well written story that has characters that not only bring the story to life but also took me on an adventure of redemption. The characters are relatable and kept me turning pages to see what they would do next. This is a story of a race against time to save thousands of people and a conspiracy that is broken wide open. What happens next I highly recommend reading to find out. This truly is a great story that took me on a nonstop adventure.

If you like paranormal fantasy stories, look no further Jean GIll is an amazing author. This is the third book in the series and even though it can be a stand alone book, I highly recommend reading the first two books to have the back knowledge of what is going on and who is who. The plot-line pulled me from the first page of the book until the last word. It has action and adventure around each corner. The characters are unique and complicated. The journey you take with them will keep you on your toes. You need to have eyes in the back of your head to see what is going on behind you as well as in front of you. The imagination of Jean Gill is in full force and I cannot wait to see what she has coming next. I highly recommend this book and the whole series especially if you like fantasy and paranormal stories.

Truly, this is such an exciting series! I loved book 1 so much that I binge read book 2 in a matter of a day! Her ability to interweave fairy tales, stories, and nursery rhymes is so enjoyable! You just never know who you are going to meet next!
The pace of the book kept me reading to find out what happened next, and I was surprised by who was introduced as new characters to continue with Hook’s mission to save the little mermaid. Just when I thought I knew what would happen next, there was an unexpected twist!

Epic-Dystopian is not a genre that I would normally read, but the book cover drew me in when I walked past it on the library shelf. I’m glad that I picked this book up to read as it was filled with many things I do like in books: magic, danger, drama, and great characters. I must admit that the book drew me in from the beginning to the end and I felt like I was on a wild fantasy ride I didn’t want to jump off. The author knows how to use description to truly make you feel like you are in this story. By the end of the book, I felt like I knew the characters personally and that at some point in my lifetime I had met many of them. It is certainly a tale of finding out who your true friends are, and which ones will stab you in the back to overthrow you. Apparently this is the ending of a trilogy written by this author and I have placed the previous two on my library wish list so that I can read the entire collection.

The World Beyond The Walls: epic dystopian eco-fantasy by Jean Gill is the third book in the Natural Forces series. This is the final book in the trilogy and was an brilliant end of the series. This book is easily the best one in the series. I fell back into this story and the characters so easily. This book is every bit as exciting and and intriguing as the previous books and I found that pages basically turned themselves. Once I started reading I just couldn’t stop. The author has created a brilliant fantasy world with such a strong group of friends right at the centre. With everything they have been through already I could not wait to see what this book had in store for them. It was well written and engaging and I thoroughly enjoyed every part of this book. I would highly recommend this whole series to any fan of the genre.

Guardians of the garden by Theresa Pocock in a story full of magic and love. The magical experience of folklore made it all that more enjoyable.

Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a very unique story. The story really transports you into their world. I couldn’t put the book down.

The first book I read by this author I remember thinking I was so totally out of my comfort zone that I didn’t know what to expect but now after three book I’m still out of my comfort zone but I know to expect a wonderfully written story that intrigues and piques my imagination throughout. The authors writing is just wonderful she has such an interesting and engaging writing style, her attention to detail is fantastic and it definitely makes my reading experience so much better. There really were some great and unexpected twists and turns in this story, I loved that I didn’t know what was going to happen. This is the third book in the Natural Forced trilogy so I personally would recommend reading them in order. I am very much looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

Did you ever wonder what happened to Captain Hook before his encounter with Peter Pan? I know I used to make up stories with my friends about the pirate who is always going after Peter Pan. In this book we read Suzanna Lynn’s version, and I have to admit her story is a lot better than mine. Her plot-line takes the reader back and develops the story behind the pirate. We see the usual character names but with slight differences than what we are used to. I highly recommend this book to see what Hook was like before he was Captain Hook obsessed with Peter Pan.

The world Beyond the Walls is the third and final book in the Natural Forces series by Jean Gill. It is another original and creative YA fantasy adventure story- with magic, shifters, politics, action, drama, danger, environmental themes, good vs evil, tension, interesting quirky characters, and wonderful world-building. There’s also a bit of a dystopian feel to this fantasy story/series which adds another layer of interest to the world. If you haven’t read the other two books yet, I highly recommend that you do, before starting on this one. There are a lot of details and threads which flow through to this book. So knowing what happened in the first two books will definitely enhance your appreciation and enjoyment of this story. As with the previous books, this a wonderfully detailed and descriptive story which has had plenty of thought, skill, heart, and soul put into its creation. Reading was more like ‘watching’ everything unfold, as the imagery was so well crafted. Well worth the read! Looking forward to seeing what Jean Gill does next.

Guardians of the Garden by Theresa Pocock is an enchanting YA fantasy that pulled me into a mythical meets reality world. A wonderful book for adults as well. The book changes perspectives between it’s core characters who are coming of age: Miriam, Peter, and Seth. This gives a well rounded perspective into the magical world within the world, Edenia. These characters are faced with family tensions, tests of faith and trust while battling their founding perspective of the world as they have known it.
The inhabitants of Edenia refer to their individual magic as their nature. Each person living there has a unique nature of an elemental variety. However even where things aren’t quite the norm compared to the rest of the world, anything outside of what is traditionally acceptable isn’t seen in a good light. This causes Miriam to face dejection from the only community she has known. The slight nods towards religion (Hello Garden of Eden and Tree of Life!) are subtle and give this story a strong original element that is refreshing while also peeking the readers curiosity.
The characters are strong and have individual depth. Angsty outsider Seth, who is absorbed in uncovering the truth of the lies his father has told his family. Then there is Miriam trying to control her still new nature while faced with isolation and loss of autonomy. Naturally, Seth and Miriam develop a romance that only adds to the complexity of their lives. There is also the point of view of Miriam’s brother Peter. Peter is desperately trying to save his sister while struggling to come into his power.
The story is really well woven for the readers. The characters’ conflicts will have anyone drawn in and questioning their own perspective. The ending is a well done cliff hanger. Personally, I would recommend the book and definitely am looking for the second installment.

So, I have listened to the first book in this series on Audiobook, and I was thoroughly impressed by that, now, by no logic that I can ever explain I have hopped, skipped, and jumped to book 4. Though missing out quite a big portion of the story so far, I have got to say that Schneider does an amazing job of getting you up to speed, I didn’t feel lost and got the sense that the book could stand alone if it absolutely had to. Still, I would recommend reading the series in order, at least to limit any potential confusion. Badass Dhalia Nite is back, kicking ass and taking names. As always have got to love the character, she is witty, sassy, and self-assured, and also not an idiot, which is so nice to read. Doing what she does best, Dahlia keeps the streets safe from all manner of nasty beasties. But she notices that something isn’t quite right, with monsters pouring in from, what feels like, every available angle, she fears that she and her new team may not be enough to stop the destruction. I really enjoyed this book, and it was interesting to see how far Dahlia had developed, even though through my own stupidity I’d missed out on half of it. Gotta say that I absolutely adored this read and would recommend it to anyone that loves a fair whack of action and mystery. Schneider just knows how to drop you into a scene, making everything so vivid, it feels like you are actually there. She is a fantastic writer and I look forward to reading more of her work.

The World Beyond the Walls: epic dystopian eco-fantasy (Natural Forces Book 3) by Jean Gill. This is an amazing series and this is the final book in the series which makes me sad because I want more. I recommend reading all the books but it can be read as a standalone. Its the continuation of Mielitta who is still Queen of the Warrior Bees and an even larger group of followers and they are working against the Perfection. We find Mage struggling to remain true to Mielitta in the war between the Citadel and the Forest. Mielitta has always tried to take care of Mage but if it means losing everything what will she choose. Mielitta will find out that friends to your face aren’t always friends behind your back. I read this book in one sitting because it was so good. Each page had me wanting to flip to the next. This series has been incredible and I highly recommend it!

I had not read a book by this author prior to reading this book. I have always loved the stories of Peter Pan & The Little Mermaid, so I was intrigued by the title of this. I was surprised to realize that this is a new twist on Captain Hook and his story. And I LOVED IT! I truly had a new outlook on the villain of Peter Pan and could really start to sympathize and understand why Hook was as evil as he was. I was very impressed with this book and found it to be a very fast read. In fact, I read the entire book in less than 24 hours because I was reading it so quickly. I was quite shocked with the writing and the characters. I was expecting the Captain Hook I have grown used to but was surprised to find out that wasn’t the case at all. I believe that this story is geared towards young adult readers but thought that the author did a fabulous job immersing me into their world. The characters resonated with me and I was able to visually see and feel the images around me. I can honestly say that I felt as though I were an actress in this movie. I didn’t want it to end. If you are a fan of Disney then I believe that you will love this book. I am excited to read the next installment in Lynn’s series.

What an utterly fabulous cbook. I’ve loved everything about this series and this final book wraps up everything superbly. Jean Gill has certainly given herself a lot of work to do in this last volume. There are, for example, a lot of characters to deal with. Some good, some bad, most intriguing and realistic combinations of both. Jean Gill’s character development is a powerful feature throughout the trilogy and creates real engagement with the main players.

This book was an awesome action packed adventure book that I didn’t want to put down. The main character Dahlia who is great. She made this book better I couldn’t get enough of her and her kick butt ways. I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future! Happy Reading!
