Perfectly Played by Holly Kerr is a fantastic romance read! This story is full of details, emotional moments and relatable characters. I ended up reading this book in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading. I felt so invested in Dean and Flora’s relationship and I just had to know how everything was all going to play out.

Perfectly Played is my first book by Holly but it certainly won’t be my last! Her writing style and the flow of the story was perfection! I can’t wait to dive into my next book by this phenomenal author.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next romance read!

What an opening to a book! Flora is literally about to walk down the aisle to marry long term boyfriend Thomas when she suddenly realises she can’t. Running from the chapel she bumps into Dean who was there for his own wedding which is also not destined to happen. A chance meeting, a night of passion, then they go back to their own lives, but is this really all there is for this intriguing couple?
Flora is a fab character with lots of pizzaz and enough positivity to counteract the sometimes negative Dean who is disappointed from a failed pro sports career. The minor characters MK and Clay are also entertaining and give us some great moments in the book. What made me laugh very early on in the story was the reference to him looking like a character from Game of Thrones – very current! I knew exactly who the author meant and that cemented this character’s look for me for the rest of that opening part of the book.
This was a light-hearted fun, second chance, “will-they, won’t-they” kind of book that I love to read by the pool on holiday. Totally recommend it!

Perfectly Played by Holly Kerr. This is a new to me author and I knew that I needed to read this book as soon as I read the blurb!!!! I fell in love with Flora and Dean from the first time they ran into each other. This was the perfect second chance romance story.

Flora is in Vegas to marry the man of her dreams, or is he? When she has the opportunity to cancel the wedding, as she is walking down the aisle, that is exactly what she does. As she is running out of the chapel, she literally runs straight into Dean.

Perfectly Played is such a great read. If you are looking for a fun light hearted book to read this book is the one for you. In this book you have Flora who is a flower shop owner who decides as she is walking down the aisle in Vegas that she does not want to marry Tom who is her long term boyfriend. As she bolts from the chapel she literally runs into Dean who is an ex baseball player who is there to marry his long term girlfriend Evelyn. Little did they know that chance meeting would change both of their lives. As Dean is prepared to walk down the aisle he receives news that his girlfriend has changed her mind about the wedding and is not coming. Later that night while wanting to drink and forget about their rough day both Dean and Flora meet again. One night, one big misunderstanding the next day leads to time apart. What happens when they meet again. Can these two make it work? I really enjoyed this book

I really enjoyed this story! I thought that it was a well written and easy to read story that kept my attention from beginning to end. I liked that the author told the story in the 1st person and used multiple points of view – I always find that makes me feel much more engaged with the characters and it helps to know what they are both thinking at times!
The characters Flora and Dean were both lovely characters and it they were really refreshing to read about. They had a great chemistry and it seemed really genuine. There was a quite a bit of drama between the two of them and a lot of miscommunication but I enjoyed that about the story, I found myself invested in their story and I was definitely rooting for them the whole way through!
Overall a good read that I would highly recommend!

Perfectly Played is an awesome contemporary romance novel by Holly Kerr. It’s the first time I have read any of this author’s work and I’ll certainly be reading more if Perfectly Played is anything to go by.
Flora is partway down the aisle when she realises that she really doesn’t want to say ‘I do’ so she turns foot and legs it out of the church colliding with hot, bearded 6ft 5inches of Dean who is waiting at the church for his bride to arrive, only to get a text to say she’s not coming.
When Flora and her bridesmaids M.K. and Ruthie bump into Dean and best man Clay later, the fun and games begin. While Clay and M.K. are smitten with each other, Dean and Flora hit it off and end up in a steamy one night stand. When Dean leaves in the morning he leaves Flora a note in the hope that they will stay in touch. A note that Flora doesn’t find.
Both Flora and Dean can’t stop thinking about each other, Dean is hurt that Flora didn’t call, Flora is hurt that Dean left and never so much as left a note. Little do Dean and Flora know that they live close to each other and fate has a way of stepping in.
I loved Dean and Flora’s story. Both are worried that the other is still in love with their former partners (well they did meet on what should have been both their wedding days). But they just can’t stop thinking of each other and how much they like each other than they did their former partners, both of whom had definitely not been right for them. Dean and Flora are perfect for each other but will they allow themselves to move on with each other so soon after ending their previous relationships?

At the same time Dean waits at the same place to marry the love of his life only to have his happiness ruined when she messages and says she isnt coming.

Perfectly Played by Holly Kerr was a good 4 star read.
Once I started, the pages flew by. This is a second chance romance.
This is Flora and Dean’s story.

These two literally run into each other in Las Vegas after they both have failed relationships. She is a runaway bride and he was dumped by his girlfriend. It’s an instant connection between them. Fate steps in and they end up seeing each other again at Flora’s flower shop.

They decide to be friends and find they have a love of sports in common, he played baseball and she played softball. As they spend more time together the closer they become.

Will they let their walls down and let each other in? Will they have a HEA?

Overall I really enjoyed this book. All of the secondary characters were great. The emotions are all over the place as these two try and figure things out. We do get dual POV which I really like. I wouldn’t mind seeing more from some of the characters. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Perfectly Played is a charming romantic comedy read by Holly Kerr. It is my first read by this writer and I know that it will not be the last! I am not sure if this story is an opening to a series but I really hope that the writer would give us the stories of all those great supporting characters that she introduced us to in this Flora and Dean universe in Toronto!
We meet Flora in a chapel in Las Vegas when in the middle of walking down the aisle to marry a guy she has been together with for 8 years … she ‘comes to her senses’ and calls it off! While running out she bumps into Dean who is waiting for his bride to turn up … Evelyn never comes, instead she sends a text message to Dean’s best man (and friend) Clay saying she is calling it off …
There are a loads of situations that crack you up or squeeze your heart … The writer takes us on a merry ride and at no point did I feel that it was too much or boring or … mix into it Flora’s BFF M.K. and Dean’s best friend’s Clay’s blossoming relationship, Flora’s cookie niece Ruthie and you will be left panting for more!

I love finding new authors. This is my first book by this author I have read and I was not disappointed. I really found the author’s writing style to be refreshing. I like the whole run away bride second chance love angle to this book.

The chemistry between Flora and Dean is just out of the ballpark pardon the pun. I really found myself lost in the story as it unfolds around them. The fact that both are really each other’s second chance really adds to the story. I really liked the opportunity to get a different type of romance read. The way the author doesn’t make it predictable and I just couldn’t put the book down wanting to see how it would all turn out. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Perfectly Played by Holly Kerr is an amazingly well written sports and romantic comedy. Flora and Dean both meet on what should have been the best days of their lives, their wedding days. After spending one night together, they part ways never having sharing their names or any other, they both find that they can’t stop thinking about each other. Fate brings these two together and follow them and see if Dean and Flora can find the love they both need and deserve.

This was my first time reading a book by this author and I was not disappointed. The author wrote an amazing book with a good story line and strong character that I loved diving into. I wish the book had been a little longer as I loved reading it but still give the book 5 stars!

Perfectly Played by Holly Kerr. This is such a sweet story. Its the story of Flora who owns a Flower Shop and runs out of her wedding in Vegas and literally runs into Dean an ex ball player who has just been left at the altar via text. As Flora barrels into Dean he tries to keep them both upright but sees her and sees an “Angel”. After they spend the night together Flora wakes up to Dean being gone and the note he left is missing. She flies back home she can’t stop thinking about Dean but without his phone number, last name or even Facebook page she has no way of contacting him. When an order for flowers brings them back together is it fate? Will Dean & Flora let down their barriers and love again? This is a sweet story with 2 people that have been treated unfairly in love and now have a chance to be happy. Read Perfectly Played to find out if they make it together!

Having never read anything of Holly Kerr I completely went into this book blindly based off the gorgeous cover and that catchy line… Can a runaway bride find love with someone else’s jilted groom? Well, frankly I just had to know the answer for myself. I am so glad that I scooped this up! I truly enjoyed the light and fun rom-com feel of the book and was quickly invested in finding out what Flora would end up getting herself after that explosive beginning. Holly Kerr takes a fairly generic concept of the runaway bride and writes a fantastic story about finding love and learning to love oneself. Flora and Dean are both great characters and seem to balance each other quite well making this seem a feasible and realistic read. I personally can’t wait to see what else I have been missing by Ms. Kerr and what else will come from her in the future!

This book by Holly Kerr is absolutely PERFECTLY PLAYED. It is a quick and easy read with closed door sexy times making this a clean romance.

The story moves quickly both in pace and in time frame of the book. Even with the pace, the characters are well developed, it is understood what role they play in the M/m’s life and every character has a purpose *even the dog and the neighbors*. The story presents itself as one that was well plotted and doesn’t waste time with too much detail or fillers to up the word count. While I could have done without two specific characters, I understand the part they play in moving the story along.

PERFECTLY PLAYED sets up as if it is going to be a series and I am very interested in finding out about the friends and siblings we are introduced to and hope that the author will continue with this theme.

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good romance.

I absolutely LOVED this book. The characters were so relatable and I felt each thing they did as they were going through it all. That makes for a great story.
This book drives home the “small world” saying, and also the “when you know, you know”.
This is a must read and I cannot wait to see we get more from the other characters in this book as they left me hanging near the end.

Perfectly Played by Holly Kerr is a sports themed romantic comedy. A story of coincidences and second chances with fate playing a grand hand. Holly Kerr delivers an enchanting story when life doesn’t go exactly as planned with a group of characters that are rife with hilarious conversations and acts. Who wouldn’t laugh at half the stuff that occurs in this story?! I loved Dean and Flora in this novel and felt that they each grew from where they began at the start. There were definitely a couple characters I wanted to toss in a box and throw out because they were just drove me to feel that way; however, they added much needed dimension to the story and provided those characters that you love to hate! Perfectly Played was a great story and followed along with the sport theme that carried with the characters perfectly!

Perfectly Played by Holly Kerr is a nice second chance story and my first read of Holly’s work. I enjoyed her writing style and loved the characters. It is a quick and easy read and you will find yourself invested in the lives of the characters. The story is told in multiple POV’s which enriches the story and the understanding of the characters and their emotions and backgrounds. It is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster ride but it works in the end.

Flora is starting to finally see the man she is supposed to marry one step at a time for what he truly is. Walking away is the best thing she needs to for herself and in doing so she meets the one person who could make her life complete.

Dean has just had his heart crushed and he isn’t sure why when he literally bumps into the one person who makes his heart feel whole again and could be his whole life and accept him for who he is. If only he can get over his past.

I look forward to reading more from Holly.

“Suddenly I have the urge to run, run away from the chapel and the justice of the peace and what is undoubtedly going to be on the top ten list of all-time worst days. Hiking up the dress I bought off the rack at Nordstrom for forty percent off, I run down the aisle to the lobby, with M.K. and Ruthie hot on my heels.
And then the toe of my shoe really does catch on a loose thread on the carpet, sending me careening right into a man standing in the doorway of the chapel.”

Perfectly Played is an angsty second chance romance by Holly Kerr. The story was quite a clever idea, with lots of drama to keep the tension at a high level. The angst, push-pull, assumptions, miscommunication, and misunderstandings which added to the drama, was quite frustrating. There were several moments where I wanted to shake some sense into both of our MC’s.

Flora Shaughnessy owns her own flower shop, “Fleur”. She’s in Vegas to finally marry her long-time boyfriend. On the way down the aisle, she has a realization that prompts her to turn and run- right into an innocent bystander. Little does she know that fate has plans for them, but right now all she wants to do is find the nearest bar and drown her sorrows. With her two best friends in tow, they begin a wild night that will take them on a bit of an adventure. And Flora will find herself in the arms, and bed, of a handsome stranger- before waking up to an empty bed. But fate isn’t done with them yet. And so the angst, drama, and hilarity ensue.

It took me quite a while to connect with the characters. They were really well developed, interesting and likeable- but the drama, indecision, and miscommunication really made it difficult to connect with them because there was so much of it. I felt that a lot of the drama was added just for the sake of it. For me, the story would have worked even better, with less drama. But having said that, I did enjoy the story, reading it in one sitting just so I could find out how everything tied together in the end.

Thank you, Ms. Kerr!

These characters were so awkward. I can’t believe how cute it was. I mean the whole beginning was a big stage of bad impressions. I liked how they started and it made the ending so much better. I love big men with beards. Dean was a good character he was nice when he didn’t have to be. He seemed genuinely confused about his next steps in life. I believe that him and Flora met at the perfect time. Neither understood where they were going but it lead them to something special. I think that creates a beautiful bond. When you’re not looking for it but it finds itself in your path anyway.

This is the first book that i have read by this author and it will not be my last. The author has a great writing style and i enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Flora is our man character and i adored her. She has horrid taste in men though. She is fixing to marry a man who she has been with for the last 8 years and he is a terrible person. He nitpicks everything she does and puts her down any chance he gets. Fiona finally decides she has had enough and runs away from him and their never-to-be wedding. That is when she runs into Dean. He was just stood up by his own bride and has gone through the ringer too. These two go through a roller coaster of feelings, both for the things they’re going through and for each other. Will they end up together or are they destined to move on and see other people who haven’t been so close to saying I DO?
I enjoyed this book a lot and i cannot wait to read more by this author. I would recommend this to a friend!

Perfectly Played by Holly Kerr had so many things I love to read about.

First, there is a dog Cappie and I’m a firm believer that every book should have a dog and/or a cat. Second, a hot guy with a beard, you can’t go wrong there and as an added bonus he’s a baseball player which is one of my favorite things about summer. Finally you have a sweet story about how fate brought two people together so far from home.

Dean and Flora’s story is just adorable and really not too far fetched which I enjoyed. After they both have their previous relationship end on what should have been their wedding day they literally run into each other and the games began immediately.

I loved Flora and her relationships with M.K., Ruthie and Patrick. Though two were family they were amazing and I fell in love with Patrick.

This story drew me in front the start and I hated having to put it down. I throughly enjoyed this book.

What will brew between the two of them? This was a quick, fun romantic read. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. Flora is funny and cute. Dean is sweet and chivalrous. Both challenge the other but in a good way. The two go through and start fast but later become friends and more. I really wanted them to have their happily ever after.

Perfectly Played by Holly Kerr was a sweet light heart read that hooked me right from that wicket opening.

I have to say, as far as book openings go, this one has probably been the best, for me, this year. Straight to the point, with a punch of excitement, ending with the fated meetcue, and you have a start that hooks you in seconds. I loved the plot, the characters, all of them not just the MC’s. Though I fell hard for Flora, what ever she saw in her ex is a mystery, cause that girl is fun, nerdy, and someone I would be friends with. Dean was also wonderful, my fave scene was when he got some well deserved advice from a “queen”.

Man this book, is one of those light reads that just makes you feel off the good feels, with just a touch of drama to keep you guessing and interested. So to end this book gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

This is a slow story that took a bit to get moving. Once I got to about half way it picked up. I’m not sure the problem but it just couldn’t keep my interest until the story started getting better.

I was so crushed when Dean took off as soon as he heard his ex fiancée showed up looking for him. I mean they have history sure but was he hoping to still marry her? Dang! Typical guy move. Dean was kinda disappointing to me throughout the story. I didn’t really care for his thoughts or actions. He seemed more into his past and not looking for a different future.
Flora (great name) has relationship baggage. She also has a wonderful flower shop. I loved that about her. Her wonderful friend MK works conveniently close and has a coffee shop. They have been besties forever so they had some nice conversations.

While this is a nice story it just didn’t do anything for me. It has perks but overall I just couldn’t get over the short period of time from the Incident to the final. Maybe a six or nine months later chapter would have been better. We could have missed the whining and moping and I would have felt better about the relationship as a whole. Sorry.

Holly Kerr is a new author to me and I enjoyed her writing style. It was easy to read and refreshing in the way she created her characters.
My only contention with this book is that I wish the gap between the characters meeting was a little smaller. There isn’t any reason I could put my finger on I just felt like it would have been nice for them to meet sooner than they did.
However this was a great read and I enjoyed the authors work. I will definitely be reading more by her in the future.

I’m a sucker for romantic comedies and I loved this one by Holly Kerr. Normally you see a book with someone jilted at the alter but this one had 2. Flora dumped her fiancé and Dean was dumped by his. Both travel to Vegas just to get away and have a one night stand together but is one night enough for them to fall in love?

I loved this book. Its the first book I’ve read by Holly Kerr and I want to go read everything else she’s written. Her characters are amazingly written and the chemistry was off the charts. This book is a great weekend read!
