EverMarked by AJ Eversley – Review by Courtney Ranee

EverMarkedEverMarked by A.J. Eversley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars!

I’m normally not one to get lost in a dystopian YA series. Usually there’s something essential missing from the story line or a plot hole that I just can’t look past, poor character development in favor of a shocking storyline. Not this time. I was so happy to be swept away by this gem! This was my very first A.J. Eversley book and I can’t wait to read more. She created such a vivid world where other dystopian authors struggled to do so. The detail that went into EverMarked definitely helped draw me in and keep me invested.
This book is narrated in alternating POVs, which I love. Being able to see the story from multiple perspectives is always special
. Sienna is a Marked and Jayla is a Watcher, their stories keep you so vested on your journey through Cytos that you’ll find the cliffhanger suddenly upon you and you’ll have a desperate need for the next installment.
One of the worries I have every time I go into a YA novel is pace, but EverMarked was surprisingly fast paced for how full of background story and detail it was. There’s a good amount of action, adventure, suspense, and a little sprinkle of romance. HOWEVER, this is really a great story about trying to find yourself and your place in the world.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It Comes From Within by Naomi Valkyrie was an incredible sequel in the House Valdis series! I think I liked it better than I did the first book! Much more interesting in my opinion, more suspense and action, and more character development. I was enthralled the whole time reading and could hardly put the book down! I’m also glad I read the Xenobia Origin story before reading this one, it definitely helps with some of the characters that were introduced in this installment! I fell in love with this book and I can’t wait to read the next part of the series! I highly recommend this read!

I’ll See You Again: A Scottish rock star, standalone opposites-attract romance (Reigning Hearts Book 4) by K.G. Fletcher – Review by Rosanna Ingram

I'll See You Again (Reigning Hearts, #4)I’ll See You Again by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

KG Fletcher has a way of telling a story that makes you feel as if you are a part of the book.

This book focuses on Nicky and Mac. Nicky’s business revolves around finding that happy ever after…even if she hasn’t found hers yet. Mac is getting ready to head out on tour with his band, but makes a stop in a small town to try out a new single before they hit the road. Nicky and Mac’s connection is immediate and strong…even though she doesn’t know who he really is. But, when headlines break, can their new relationship weather the storm? Or were they meant to only be temporary? You have to read the book to find out how this goes down!

I loved both Nicky and Mac’s characters. I felt a boatload of feelings right along with them…even cried a time or two. However, I was captivated by the support of all the other characters in the book. I loved this story and will definitely be checking out future books!

Distant Heart SoundsDistant Heart Sounds by Kate MacInnis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are well written and it made me laugh at times. I like the way the paranormal and romance side of things combined as well.

After recovering she has found out that the aneurysm has gone but she has been left with something else in its place. Something she isn’t sure about. Accountability (Scope of Practice Book 3) by Jessica Aiken-Hall – Review by Jana Teppih

Accountability (Scope of Practice #3)Accountability by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Accountability is the third book in Jessica Aiken-Hall’s Scope of Practice series. I hope that it is the final book in the series and that because I would love to be able to think of Valerie finally settling into her life and driving into sunset with Tim … You have to read the series in order as each book builds upon the previous one. It is a series that you will not regret spending time with.
I have read other stories where the lead is a survival of horrible events and what I loved about this series is the way Valerie takes back her power, I love the group of women that she discovers her strength with and the lasting positive relationships that she builds. The burden she carries is heavy and the secrets she keeps weigh her down even more but at the end of the day, she has an opportunity to come to her power and fly!

The Perfect Outcast
By Melissa O. Hansen
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book The Perfect Outcast by Melissa O. Hansen. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. The author does an amazing job of world-building as well as making both the storyline and the characters come alive on the pages. I loved the character of Alina. She is a young woman who starts as one person in the beginning and during the story starts to change. She shows herself to be intelligent, strong, and independent. She is an amazing character and one that I could root for her to succeed in all that she does. Alina has always longed to fit into the society that she lives in. Everyone there seems perfect except for her. Secrets and a conspiracy are uncovered. What does the future hold for Alina? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me hooked from the very beginning. There were times I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I grew to care about Alina with each chapter that I read. Other additional characters are introduced, and I enjoyed reading about many of them as they are helpful to Alina. There are others however that have a selfish agenda. Don’t miss out on an amazing and entertaining book. I highly recommend reading it.

All I want is one last summer of fun with my best friend, Toby.

Blue Oaks Theme Park seems like a perfect place to work while blowing off some steam. It’s our last summer before university and we want to make every day count. The thing I didn’t consider was being attracted to my new boss.

But it’s just one summer. One quick fling. What harm can it do?

Bear

Returning home is something I can’t avoid. My dad wants me to start getting serious about my future, while I want to spend the summer teaching kids skateboarding.

As always, he gets his own way, but when a cute brunette – literally – knocks me off my feet, I’m finding the theme park interesting in a whole new way.

A summer romance. Totally insubstantial. I can handle that. Right?

Two people brought together by chance. Both finding something they don’t know they need. A sweet romance about finding a home in the heart.

I am a contemporary romance author who is all about the feels, with the twists of sexy mixed in between. I have been writing since before I can remember.  Writing has always been a passion, that was kept it under wraps, stayed on the back-burner and never vocalized or followed through with my desire to be a writer, until I read a horrible book and thought: ‘I could do better than that!’

I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, but living in beautiful San Diego with my little family while working during the day as a social worker working with the homeless.

My writing style is that I try to write realistic characters and situations. I want my books to be relatable and not to create too many eye rolls.

Thematically, the novels are friends to lovers, random hook-ups and office romances mixed with a whole lot of fun in the middle.

I enjoyed this book. This is a young adult story that is well written with characters that are connectable and bring the story alive. This is a story about a young girl named Alina who lives in Pria where everyone is immortal but her. But things may not be as they appear. Things may not be as perfect as all want them to be. She really just wants to fit in some place. As she searches for the courage and freedom she longs for she may just uncover some dark past. Will she find what she is searching for before it is too late? This is a little different story but I really enjoyed it. The more I read the more I really liked Alina and felt for her. She made such a great character and made the story easy to read. I highly recommend this book.

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites by her yet. One thing I enjoy about this author is her ability to pull me into the story with ease. Her story is easy to read and entertaining. This book is no different. This is a shorter story that is part of a series which I highly suggest reading all of. This author’s attention to details made me feel as if I was right there with the characters. I had no issues connecting to them and really enjoyed the journey they brought. They bring lots of action, mystery and suspense. Al black markets body parts and Loyda is an investigator and is willing to do anything to capture her culprits. What will happen when she finds herself begin accused of murder and only one person can help her prove her innocence? They are such great, strong characters that made the story for me and kept me turning pages. This is a fast paced, easy story to read which I highly recommend.

True Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel Book 4) by India Kells – Review by Karyn Taylor

True Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #4)True Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

True Bastard is the 4th book in the Dark Sparrow Series by India Kells. I have been a huge fan of India Kells’ work for some time and have loved the previous books in the Dark Sparrow Series. Reading the synopsis of this book, I just knew that I was going to love this one and I’m glad to say that I absolutely loved it.
In this book it’s the turn of Liam Harker, the police officer brother to have his story told. When I found out that Liam’s leading lady Catriona Walsh was a nun, I could not wait to see how his story turned out. Like all of the other books in this series, this book pulled me in from the very beginning and took me on an amazing roller coaster journey filled with drama, intrigue, danger and romance that I could not put down.
Liam and Catriona are both amazing characters that I could read for hours and hours. I loved them both as individuals and also loved reading the two of them together. The sexual tension between the two of them is off the charts smoking HOT and makes for very entertaining reading.
I also loved that we got to catch up with the rest of the ‘bastard’ brothers and their better halves and see how they are getting on. The very end gives you a little taster as to the next story in the series and I really can’t wait to read Sam’s story and see him get his well-deserved HEA.

Kat Chalmers is a high achiever. As the co-host of a leading current affairs program, she’s earned nationwide acclaim for her interview skills. And now she plans to use those skills to find out more about her mysterious neighbour, Matt Goodridge.

Matt works long hours as an obstetrician and doesn’t like talking about his past. He’s also intrigued by his famous neighbour, although getting to know her is difficult when she prefers to be the one asking the questions.

But Kat can’t seem to stay away. Matt’s like no one she’s ever met and she finds herself letting her guard down. Meanwhile, Matt is discovering that the woman behind the carefully crafted television persona is entirely different to who he thought she was.

When Matt learns Kat has secrets of her own to hide, he begins to wonder if some secrets are too good to keep . . . even if it means risking your heart and your professional reputation.
