The Nearness of YouThe Nearness of You by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

KG Fletcher does a masterful job, again, of making me lose track of time, and lose sleep, with enjoyment of this latest book. Hands down, this book was fantastic. I love the way it is written, allowing me to dive directly in and experience each step with the characters. The characters are relatable and realistic. The plot has a steady pace and is well developed. I will whole heartedly recommend this to others. And I cannot wait to read it again.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Marks Of The Mazza (Book One Of The Mazza Series) by Blake Blessing. This is a new to me author, while it is slightly out of my normal genre, I read the blurb and need to read this book. A reverse harem……. hello…… I just knew that this was going to be a good one, and of course I was right. It was everything plus more than I expected. I loved how the characters just clicked together. There was plenty of storyline to keep you interested. There was suspense, mystery, adventure and of course sexy scenes.
I am definitely looking forward to future books from this author and series.

Our Next Chapter is one of those stories you just feel at home reading. As Karalyn and Des both return to their hometown you can’t help but feel like you’re returning to an old familiar place as well. I enjoyed the storyline and felt like it flowed well with relatable, likeable characters that carried the story well.
Our Next Chapter has a similar feel to a couple of my favorite love stories but it didn’t feel as though the storyline was one that was overdone it was familiar and unique all at once. I am really looking forward to reading Quinn’s story in the future, I felt that she was a strong supporting character in this story.

Joker's Fool (Satan's Devils MC #8)Joker’s Fool by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Joker’s Fool is the eighth book in the Satan’s Devils MC series. It can be read as a standalone.

I am in love with this book!!!!! Why am I in love with this book? So, so many reasons, but I will only list a few so as not to be long winded. First, I have a penchant for books where the subject matter is divergent from the mainstream of society. Second, I also have an open heart for the underdog, the people who struggle and persevere through challenging circumstances. Third, but the most important, in this book the author does a superb job of putting you into the story-letting you feel the pain and heartache of the characters, especially Joker. God, what he went through, the struggle and the self-hatred, it will tear you up! I was so into the story that I read it all in one day. I’m kind of wishing I had paced myself because coming down from an intense read like that is rough, lol. My heart is still in the story.

Get it. Read it. Be prepared to have your heart torn out, put back together, torn out again…..keep the Kleenex handy. In between all of the action and drama there is a lot of emotion. I have nothing but love for this story.

Karalyn and Dez had a great, lasting love, but are torn apart. Some stories may seem over, but really they are just on pause. This is the case for Karalyn and Dez. I love a good second chance love story, and this was a great second chance love story. I’m glad that I read it, and I think you won’t be disappointed if you give it a try!

Karalyn has a great personality that is both sweet and spicy. Dez is overall a great guy who is willing to learn from mistakes and is at a point where he is ready to fight for his love and family. I also really liked Quinn. This character has so much personality! I love that she is willing to be straight up and is hilarious in doing so! Michelle Sullivan is giving Quinn her own story, and I cannot wait!!

Marks of the MazzaMarks of the Mazza by Blake Blessing
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Marks of the Mazza: Reverse Harem (Mazza Series Book 1) Blake Blessing is great start to the series. The story is a paranormal fantasy romance with a twist. I wasn’t sure what I was getting with a reverse harem plot but it certainly did not disappoint me in any way shape or form. Right from the start I was pulled into this group of characters, that are endearing and interesting and found myself falling in love and completely invested in them as individuals and as a group. There is lots of drama, action and adventure, danger and suspense. You will be enthralled with the storyline and the vivid scenes and Blake’s imagination knows no bound. The story flowed well and you are so engrossed that before you know it, it will all over and you just want to scream because you want more. Geesh, book two can not come quick enough. Well done Blake a truly great story for a debut book.

Siren Call (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 3)
By: Phoebe Alexander
5 out of 5 stars

The story Siren Call (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 3) by Phoebe Alexander is a wonderful romance book that I loved reading. It is one that hooks you in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to stop reading until I had finished the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Jessie Martinez and Sirena Home. Jessie is a police officer. She has a good heart and feels the need to protect others. That need now applies to Sirena Home. Sirena is a woman who is trying to escape her life. She has those at the club worried about her safety and Jessie agrees to try to watch out of her. When Jessie agrees to keep an eye on Sirena she had no idea that the woman would make her feel the way that she does. It is electric when they touch and the sparks fly. Sirena, however, has secrets that she is keeping. Will Jessie get Sirena to trust her with her secrets? Jessie at first thinks that Sirena is just a summer fling. She is finding that her emotions/feelings for Sirena are stronger than she realized. Will both Jessie and Sirena learn to trust each other with their hearts? Read this story to find out. This story is one that includes an alternative lifestyle and does so in a way that is tasteful and non-judgmental. I enjoyed reading about the other characters that are in the story. Many of them have been brought forward from the first two books in the series and I felt like I was keeping in touch with friends. The characters give you a feeling that they are all family and that you are home with them. This is a wonderfully written story that I would definitely recommend reading. The book does have adult language and situations and would be for an audience of those over the age of 18. There are some steamy scenes included both behind closed doors and in the club.

The story Do Not Open Until Halloween by C.A. King is a YA fantasy book that I loved reading. It is a story that hooked me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had finished that last page. It is a book that will have you believing in magic and magical creatures. She has a choice to make when she promises to watch her aunt’s home and is asked out by Justin, a boy that she likes. The way in which she decides to handle both situations has her now scrambling to deal with a fairy that was not invited. Caitlin must find her belief in magic if she is to save the fairy. Read this book to find out about the adventure that Caitlin finds herself on and how it all turns out. This story is one that will keep you turning pages to find out what happens next. Deadly Alliance is a Fortis/Purgatory Crossover written by Maddie Wade and India Kells. I have not read the Women of Purgatory by India Kells but I definitely want to get to know them now. I have read the Fortis Security stories and loved them, this crossover is no different. Emme is a strong female lead and Shane is just like the other men. The attraction between the two is instant followed closely by annoyance and irritation. Shane doesn’t believe Emme can/should fulfill the mission. Can she prove him wrong?

Savannah’s Savior is the fifth book in The Cowboys of Cavern County by Bella Settarra. This is the first book I’ve read in this series and by this author, so it can be read as a standalone, but I’m definitely going back and reading the first four books to get the back history. This western/contemporary romance has a little bit of everything, love, conflict, second chances and as with and triad a learning experience to how three people can live together and communicate their needs to each other.
Savannah is a strong but broken woman, who was kicked out of her home. Tom and Greg are the two alpha males who found her. Will the three learn to accept and trust in their relationship. This book had me hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until I read the last. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)The Jack by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Please read THE READER (Book 1 of The Immortal Series) first. THE JACK (Book 2 of the series) is an amazingly fantastically layered story and it is my opinion that it will be a much more satisfying read if read in order. There are a lot of nuances and characters for which the groundwork is layed in the first book.

Ok, now my review… Today was an incredibly busy day being an adult. After finally getting home at 7pm, I started reading THE JACK and realized this was a book that deserved a pleasant treat while reading. As quickly as I devoured a pint of ice cream, I turned the pages of this book.

THE JACK is everything I was hoping it to be and 100% more. It has complex plots and twists and all the goodness that comes from the author’s brain. It is a visually appealing book and I was able to “watch it unfold” as I read along.

I do not write spoilers in my reviews so I am choosing to say nothing about the storyline. Just know that this series is in my top five reads of 2018.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes to read.

The Boss Man: A Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel (The Manly Series Book 4) by Teddy Hester is a five star novel. I have not read any of the other books in this series but cannot wait to go back and start from the beginning. This book can be read as a standalone. I loved the guarantee in the synopsis that everything would be wrapped up nicely in the end. Sometimes in series, there are good or bad cliffhangers that makes you not want to get involved. I liked that the author was able to be upfront about this one and let us know it wasn’t like that. Jack is a workaholic that feels like he is constantly trying to prove himself. This works well for him though because he is definitely able to prove his worth in the construction field. Jillian is also in a place trying to prove herself. When she first meets Jack, she isn’t sure what to think. This smoldering, sexy man cannot be her boss. How can she work for this guy and not be attracted to him. As they get on each other’s nerves, they also realize how irresistible they are to one another. See how this story continues to unfold in this book that hooks the reader right from the beginning!

Savannah’s Saviors (The Cowboys of Cavern County book 5) by Bella Settarra

Four Stars

I’ve never felt the kind of love this book shows. Where you are willing and wanting to share your life with 3 people. From the story I got that these three people have a unique bond. That in their lives and heart there was room for more. Their personalities were a different. Savannah was so fragile and sweet. While Tom and Greg were alpha males to the max. But they never crossed that line. I didnt like how indecisive Savannah was. You either stay or go. I think She was overwhelmed and felt trapped. The flow of the words was a little stiff conversations didn’t read like any normal everyday conversation. There was a lot of excitement in this story but nothing that actually hooked me in and let me get a better picture of who our characters were and how they ended up at this point in their lives. Though I am not a fan of the subject I thought the author did a great job laying it out in a classy way.

I absolutely loved Deadly Alliance: A Fortis/ Purgatory Crossover Novel by Maddie Wade & India Kells! I love these authors individually, but they are absolutely phenomenal together! This book took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions which kept me engaged the whole way through. This book was intense, suspenseful, detailed, intriguing, steamy and action-packed.

I had previously read the Fortis series but hadn’t read any books from the Women of Purgatory series by India Kells, yet I found it very easy to follow along. There was plenty of backstory and character introduction that made it super easy to jump right in.

These characters are so strong and inspirational, and I always enjoy reading their journeys. I will absolutely be diving into the India Kells series as soon as I can. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next suspenseful read!

Deadly Alliance: A Fortis/Purgatory Crossover NovelDeadly Alliance: A Fortis/Purgatory Crossover Novel
ByMaddie Wade
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Deadly Alliance: A Fortis/Purgatory Crossover Novel by Maddie Wade and India Kells was a fast pace, heart pounding thriller that had me hooked from start to finish.

Not my first read by either author, and it may have been the reason I snatched this book up. Cause both authors on their own are pretty amazing, so there was no way I was passing up on this collaboration. I wasn’t disappointed and very much enjoyed this engaging thriller.

So lets be real, again I find myself wondering if I’m being biased or not. This has to do with Emma, and how young she is, not so much that is is a young woman, but that it’s brought up, a lot, way more then needs to be. And the whole innocent thing, that was another thing that irked me. She’s a grown asss woman, there’s nothing innocent about her. Especially considering she joined Fortis, they aren’t exactly saints. I believe I said this before, but unless you’re a child or an animal, you ain’t innocent.

Okay rant over.

Overall this book was pretty good. It was action packed, heart racing and steamy. What I liked the most was the hunt for the serial killer. It added that intense mystery to the very intense romance. But I will say, having Emma as the “baite” made for a bit of a predictable storyline. Especially with Shane still in recovery about his friends sisters death. So yeah, saw that coming, but because of was smooth, quick fire writing, I was kept engaged, my eyes were kept glued to the pages, and I was kept in the story. I want to stress this, that though yes, you’re going to guess the outcome pretty quick, but the writing is so good that you can’t look away. That and the characters are just a delight to read about. Not just the MC’s but all the characters.

This book is a must read if you’re a fan of these authors, even if you’re not, this story is worth your time. No worries if you think you’re going to get lost, it’s kind of a side story so you can read it like a standalone. That and you’re given enough info that it feels like this is a start of a series, not a one off. Believe me when I say, you are going to be glued to this book. It has this “Criminal Minds/John Wick” feel that just keeps you captured.

So please, take my high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will get lots in these dangerous pages.

Happy Reading

Fisher of MenFisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fisher of Men, Eastern Shore Swingers Book One, is written by Phoebe Alexander, this isn’t the first time I read a book by the author and will state this start to this series was an amazing read. The story follows Leah, who works at a hotel, The Pearl, and was brought up by her Christian parents whom they wanted her to follow them with speaking the word of Christian faith. Once given a scholarship and the need to see more of the world she took a leap and decided to study at Cornell and take the job at the Pearl. Leah meets Cap, Chris at an event at the hotel, and soon they begin dating. Her faith is torn when she learns that the party he attended was a swinger’s party, and it’s a lifestyle that Cap leads. She learns that behind the lovely Ocean city lies a swinger’s secret club, her world, her heart, and her faith is tested.

I could NOT put this book down, the ups and down truly held me into this book. I could close my eyes and see Leah and Cap, I could close my eyes and feel the emotions, and I could feel like I was right there in Ocean City. The attention too much emotions and details was spot on. I really felt like I was a part of Caps and Leah’s little world. I truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a good erotic romance.

Self Love: A British Tale of Woe and Wit by TL Clark. While I did feel this story had a bit of a slow beginning and didn’t immediately draw me in, once it picked up a bit I found myself lost in it’s pages. Molly is trying to figure out who she is in this crazy big world. She’s a bit on the downer side when it comes to her view of herself but I can honestly say I connected with her on many levels even though I hate to think that at times. You truly get to see inside the head space of Molly and it’s quite the ride. This story took me on a bit of an emotional journey right along with Molly. It’s a bit different from this authors other books and for that alone I was excited because I love the others and it’s nice to see an author right in more genres. The storyline is well written and easy to follow and I really did love the characters. I’m giving this book a four star review and recommend it to everyone.

Joker's Fool (Satan's Devils MC #8)Joker’s Fool by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Joker’s Fool, Satan’s Devils MC #8, by Manda Mellett is a novel written with finesse featuring a M/M story between Lady and Joker. I usually avoid same gender romance plots/stories as they are not my preferred romance stories. However, I have read several other stories by this author and wanted to see how she tackled this story line. To say I was impressed would be under appreciating the talent exuded by Manda Mellett. This story held true to an MC theme while embarking into the M/M element and it was tastefully done. Joker and Lady each have their unique character traits that were well suited for them and complimented one another along the excursion it took them upon. There was such an underlying theme of family that stayed true within the story despite indications/inklings that things could change, you could feel it present. Well written, encouraging reader engagement in the story while maintaining intrigue. Another great story and characters by this author.

Self Love is a tale by T.L. Clark that I would highly recommend reading this story that needs a pick me up. TL Clark is becoming one of my favorite authors. Clark has a way to work you the reader into her story by making one of her characters seem just like you. This story is no different. Molly is the main female character. I identify with Molly. She is a hot mess at times. In the second chapter Molly thinks about a former employee:
“We weren’t exactly bosom buddies. I didn’t expect him to contact me. But Please don’t lie and pretend you miss me.”
It is this that tone that kept me reading to the end. I have to tell you that I am not going to tell you much more because I do not want to say spoilers. You will have to read the story and enjoy Molly.

Fisher of MenFisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Fisher of Men was my first book by Phoebe Alexander and it was worth of 3.5 stars out of 5. I have a like/dislike relationship with this book, it was the one subject of the book that drew me in but the other subject wasn’t something I normally read about and because of that I didn’t feel a connection with the female lead. The writing was well written but I have to admit some of Leah’s backstory I skipped over and I didn’t care for the scriptures at the beginning every chapter. I did like that Mrs. Alexander took a chance at showing two different people from totally different worlds coming together and building a relationship. You don’t see too many romance books take this big of a risk in its subject matters.

But this book isn’t going to stop me from reading the other books in this series. Like I said, one subject matter caught my eye and I would like to see where Mrs. Alexander takes the other stories within this club.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Jack is the second book in M.K. Harkins’ Immortal series and I recommend you read it straight after finishing the first book as then everything is fresh in your mind and you might be a bit disappointed in Archer but … this is his book, his redemption, his journey …
Archer is a Jack … and he is a Reader … he is a hybrid that is caught between two adversary races … and then there are the Seers … the avenging hunters of Jacks and protectors of Readers … and who is Archer? It will all come down to what he chooses …
The Jack is also Sadie’s story … Sadie who is pure, kind-hearted and … destroyer or Jacks! What a contradiction – gentle heart and a cold hearted killer …. How does one reconcile it? What will happen when Archer and Sadie’s paths cross … who will survive … is there a way for them to be together … do you dare to open yourself up and be gifted with friendship and love …
I hope it will not be the last book as there is so much more that the writer could grace us with … I have a whole movie running around in my head!

Self Love: A British Tale of Woe and Wit by TL Clark was not what I was expecting if you know what I mean and I’m actually glad it wasn’t.

Molly was a funny and wonderful woman who needed to learn her self worth. I could so relate to her and her issues with body image and not feeling like she was enough. Her experiences were interesting and some were amusing while there were a few that broke my heart.

Though I like the way it ended I could have seen this going in a much different direction for Molly.

I have not had the pleasure of reading anything by Ms. Clark before but this was a great introduction.

Fisher of Men is Book 1 in The Eastern Shore Swingers Series From author Phoebe Alexander. This was a brilliant steamy read that had you captivated totally compelled to read until the very end. This is a totally unique romance read.

Even with these books being part of a series, they can all be read and enjoyed as stand-alone. This is my first type Swingers themed read, and the synopsis was really intriguing, so I took the chance and I’m so glad I took it. I was learning about the lifestyle along with the main character Leah Miller. There are great details within this read, that make it even more captivating and intriguing.
I loved Leah & Chris ‘Cap’ Sheldon from the start, they have chemistry from the get-go that continues to grow throughout the read, but can Leah stop the struggle she has with herself between her religion and sexuality and follow her heart with Cap and her desires? I loved reading Cap and Leah’s story I loved watching them evolve and Leah experiencing and learning new things all the while having a strong, alpha male taking her along on the journey.

Along with the main characters we have some brilliant secondary characters that really stand out and help make this story progress further, and I can’t wait to read some of their stories.

This is a brilliant start to what I think will be an incredible series, with brilliant characters, steamy passionate relationships and epic storylines. I can’t wait to read the next.

I have to say that as this is a slightly different romance genre than I am used to I was well impressed
by the authors creative way of bringing it to the reader. I admit it isn’t a lifestyle choice I would make
but I came into this book with a very opened mind and wasn’t disappointed.

The whole chemistry between Cap and Leah is definitely unique. I like how the author did get a bit
of drama written in. The whole religious conflict Leah feels I can so relate to with all be it a
slightly different situation but nonetheless it brought it home for me. I like how the author addressed
this with Mary. This book brings an alternative lifestyle to light and the author has a very refreshing
and unique way of dealing with the subject. I would probably read more of this series in the future
even though it is something I would never consider but I can always get lost is the books.

Marks of the Mazza (Book #1 in The Mazza Series) by Blake Blessing – Review by Liz Vrchota

Marks of the MazzaMarks of the Mazza by Blake Blessing
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is going to be one of those series that will get me in trouble. Firstly, I must say I was blown away that this is Blake Blessing’s debut novel. Girl has some writing skills! I am an avid fan of reading alternate lifestyle romances because usually they are intricate stories with layers that you just don’t find in a one on one relationship storyline. That said, this is also a difficult thing to write and can make or break an entire story or series. This was absolutely not the case here! This was flawless, emotional, and gripping. There was just the right amount of slow burn romance between the parties involved with the bonus additions of paranormal twists to keep you extra intrigued.

Isolde Bardot is not your average naiveté lead female. She can hold her own, and really she needs to because when she gets into the wrong Uber she will have to handle a whole new world and all its complexities. There is never a dull moment for her between her ‘Lusty Legion’, confusing and realistic magic, and different realms? I was so bummed when the book ended, not a killer cliffhanger, but enough I will be anxiously on the edge of my seat awaiting the next in the series now! Thanks for such an amazing adventure Blake Blessing!

Our Unexpected Hope by Michelle Sullivan – Review by Shannon Fowler

Our Unexpected HopeOur Unexpected Hope by Michelle Sullivan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

O.M.G. This book has even more feels than book one! In order to read this book, you should really read book one, Our Next Chapter, it’s not absolutely necessary but will make the relationships throughout the story so much better. Quinn is the main character in this story. She is the daughter of Karalyn and Dez. Their story is book one.

Quinn and Dez’s relationship makes me sigh because who doesn’t love a good dad and daughter situation. And then I have to laugh out loud. and often! But the real love story is between Quinn and Noah! Holy Hotness those two sure know how to cause some serious steam!

Quinn and Noah start off hot and heavy and right from the start they feel their connection. Their connection is almost too good to be true, but they don’t fight it. They love it and each other. Their journey however is not all rainbows and roses.

Sullivan must love knowing she causes readers to cry. Actually, this story was very close to an ugly cry, but Sullivan reigned it in and created an unbelievable heart fulfilling story! I wish I could give this story more than 5 stars.
