Resisting the Rancher (The Hills of Texas, #2) by Kadie Scott – Review by Jenni Bishop

Resisting the Rancher (Hills of Texas, #2)Resisting the Rancher by Kadie Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Resisting the Rancher (The Hills of Texas Book 2) by Kadie Scott is a wonderfully well written contemporary country romance story. The story is a slow burn romance and the relationship between our main characters was a pleasant read. Falling in love with the characters was as easy as the flow of the tale. This story makes you feel warm you and fuzzy and your heart melts and gets invested hoping against hope for a happy outcome. There is a bit of an emotional ride for the main female character and my heart went out to her and the life she had been brought up in. This is one story that you don’t want to miss out on.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Flirt: A College Romance (What Happens on Campus Book 2) by ML Sparrow is the second book in the series. It follows a college student who has been struggling to find her way after her life long dreams came to an end. The story was a bit of a roller coaster ride, a bit haunting and a bit on the dark side when having to deal with issues of a young adult who doesn’t make smart choices. I wanted to smack some sense into the main female character of this story but it was a good read. Reading YA stories often instill angst in me as a reader and this had a whole lot of them.
If you like angst in your YA college romances then this is a read for you.

Player: A College Romance (What Happens on Campus Book 1) by ML Sparrow and is a Young Adult college romance story and the first book in the series but you do not have to be a young adult to enjoy this story. The story is well written and any one who loves this genre will love this. The story is told in the different POV’s of the main characters which, as always, gives you that much needed insight to a character that you would not otherwise get. Unfortunately, running away does not fix problems, they follow you everywhere but learning to live with those problems and forgive yourself, then you will truly heal. Of course a hunky football player and a strong emotional connection with said hunk, certainly helps.

This story will please those of you who love YA college romance stories. I am off to read the next book, Flirt.

The Gift Saga Trilogy (The Gift Saga #1-3) by Effie Kammenou – Review by Jenni Bishop

The Gift Saga Trilogy (The Gift Saga #1-3)The Gift Saga Trilogy by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Evanthia’s Gift (The Gift Saga Book 1) by Effie Kammenou is a beautifully written old fashioned love story and is hard to put down. This book is an emotional roller coaster ride. One minute you are laughing and loving, the next will see you crying and yelling at the characters and wanting to knock some sense into them. There were alot of tears, sometimes in joy, sometimes in frustration and sometimes in heartache. I learnt so much about the Greek way of life and families and history of the war they endured.
Waiting for Aegina by Effie Kammenou is the second book to this saga and is a well crafted story and the world in which Effie has created is something you can imagine. This story pulls on a lot of emotions and is a lot more power packed and dramatic than Evanthia’s Gift and is an honest and heartfelt portrayal of a young Greek girl who is now a woman and her friends and is told by the main character’s point of view.
Chasing Petalouthes (Chasing Butterflies) is the third and final book and a great way to end the series. Tragedy and heartache, flaws warts and all as well as happiness on this journey called life whilst trying to find how you fit in and your place in the world. Effie has a way to evoke emotions in her readers with her word craft and wonderful characters. has a really wonderful way with words, and a style that lends itself to stories that will evoke emotions in the reader.
If you are looking for beautiful love stories that spans over many years, generation to generation, then this boxset is a must and so is the tissue box!

Deal Takers (Dealing With Love Book 2) by Laura Lee had me laughing so hard I had tears running down my face and my belly aching. It is told in different POV’s and Laura’s take on Brody is exceptional and just brilliant, brilliant!! Well done!! He is a man child, panty dropping, bed hopper but you can’t help but love him. The banter between the two main characters is wonderful and funny and sexy and witty and choreographed beautifully like a regal dance. Laura writes a great romance story that has it all. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Saint of Liars by Megan Mackie is the second book in The Lucky Devil Series a picks  up two months after the last book left off. I am loving this paranormal thriller urban  fantasy series. I was hungry to read this book after finishing the first and sat and  gobbled it up in one day. There was no way I could put it down as there is so much  going on I had to know where it was going. There is magic and magical creatures that  are mystical. There is drama and action at every turn, adventure and danger that will  have you holding your breathe, suspense and intrigue caught up in the twist. Searching  for the truth between the secrets and lies is paramount as we traverse through different  realms, different worlds that Megan has cleverly woven. Rune and Saint Benedict really  make the story pop and their complicated relationship is one I hope continues to  evolve. The only thing I found a little confusing was that the story was told in different  POV’s and there was no indication it was so until you read and reread it a couple of  times but once you knew what to expect it was ok.     I hope to see a third book to this series as I feel there is so much more to be told and  enjoy.
