Shamrock & Clover: Field’s Apart by C.A. King 4 of 5 Stars An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance with an opposites attract theme, which kept me happily turning the pages. Clover and Patrick (Shamrock) have different views on love, she’s a saint and he’s a sinner. However, when they meet in this romantic comedy the unlikely couple may just have found love with one other. I thoroughly enjoyed this short but sweet story and loved the main characters, Clover and Shamrock, and I was cheering them on hoping they would get their HEA. A heartwarming read with a storyline full of emotions, humour, and of course romance.

An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance, which had me hooked from start to finish. Regan Doyle does not believe in fairytales, specifically, that Prince Charming will come and sweep her off her feet, that love at first sight exists, or that couples can live happily ever after. Regan’s only goal is to leave South Boston, and as fairytales do not exist, she will have to do this herself. As soon as she graduates high school she is determined to leave and nothing will get in her way, but then she meets, Jeremy Stone. Jeremy is just as determined on achieving his own goal, of proving to his father that he’s ready to take over the family business. He definitely does not need any distractions, and then he meets Regan. Suddenly both their goals change, but can they find their happily ever after together, despite the many obstacles in their way. I loved Regan and Jeremy and was really immersed in their story, hoping they would get their HEA. The storyline flowed well and the plot had me happily turning the pages wanting to know the outcome for the couple.

I am always excited when a new ‘Satan’s Devils MC’ novel comes out, and this was yet another great read. The storyline focuses on Satan’s Devils member Marvel, who joins the MC to escape from his past. Although he’s been happy for those of his brothers who have found there ‘old ladies’ and settled down, he’s never wanted that for himself. At least not again, having been hurt by a women who he loved and trusted, he’s now learnt that women can’t be trusted and that if he dose not fall in love, he can’t be hurt. Then Marvel meets Virginia, who has trust issues herself, having been betrayed by the man she loved. Having been traumatised by his actions and those of others who blamed her, when she had no idea what he was doing, she has become reclusive.
It was just Virginia’s luck, that on a rare trip into town she ends up caught up in a major incident, and then finds herself forced into close proximity with a biker named Marvel. As usual this story is full of drama, suspense, great characters, vivid world building, plenty of MC action with the Satan’s Devils, and of course romance. I loved Marvel and Virginia and the chemistry between them sizzled, but their reluctance to trust again and the past hurt they both shared also came across in the writing. The setting, as usual was brought to life by the descriptive narrative and I felt immersed in both the story, and in the Satan’s Devils MC world once again. An enjoyable and exciting read, and I look forward to future books by this author.

An enjoyable and engaging cozy mystery, featuring a great heroine in main character, chorus girl, Ruby Ecco. As a member of the traveling theatre troupe she gets to travel all over the world, staging musicals. However, everywhere the troupe goes, murder and mayhem seem to follow, but luckily Ruby is a keen amateur sleuth. As a plus size girl, Ruby has been told she’s not leading lady material, despite her, great voice and pretty face. Ruby is happy as a chorus girl and enjoys her new gig, touring different cities and getting to explore them, as well as learning new roles for the musicals. When one of her cast-mates turns up dead, Ruby is determined to solve the mystery and bring the murderer to justice. After all who would murder a women playing the Mother Abbess in the production of The Sound of Music. I loved Ruby and felt as though I was alongside her investigating the murder. The characters and the setting were brought to life by the descriptive narrative, making me feel immersed in the story. I look forward to future books featuring Ruby and the travelling theatre troupe.

An enjoyable and engaging dystopian, sci-fi, story which kept me hooked from start to finish. The novel is set in an apocalyptic world filled with zombies, following a devastating plague, and where civilisation and humanity ended years ago. However, some have managed to survive and adapt to this new world, and one of those is skilled survivalist and wild man Baron. When his instincts lead him to killing a strange man, Baron finds himself imprisoned by a stranger women, Thalia. Thalia is a child of immortals, and she may hold the answers to ending the vicious cycle, as long as they can work together and survive the next outbreak. The setting and characters are brought vividly to life by the descriptive narrative, which made me feel immersed in the storyline. The characters are all intriguing in their own right, and Baron and Thalia are particularly great characters and I like the dynamic between them. This is not my usual genre, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it, and I look forward to book two.

I thoroughly enjoyed this gripping crime thriller which had me hooked from start to finish. Set just as the pandemic begins, struggling waitress and Mum of two Josie Thompson, wants a fresh start away from her abusive husband, and from the small town she lives in, but she’s not going anywhere. Josie is charged by the FBI for murder after victims turn up in the river near her isolated cabin, and the FBI think she’s the serial killer. Whilst let out on bond, and knowing that if she’s convicted she will face a life in prison, she is determined to prove her innocence. However, a growing fear of the Covid virus and her family’s long held secret, that they refuses to disclose are just two of many obstacles in her way. As Josie tries to clear her name she realises that not everything in the town is what it seems and that she cannot trust everyone. The storyline and plot twists had me happily turning the pages late into the night, unable to put the book down. The suspense built throughout the story and the twists kept me guessing until the end. A real page turner of a novel and one which I definitely recommend.

I enjoyed this student, teacher romance, which is actually a companion story to book one in the Kirk University series. That book was told from the student, Cassie’s perspective and this one is told from Diego’s, the teacher’s. This fairly short but engaging read let’s us into Diego’s mind, and what he was thinking when he met Cassie. Sensible, level headed, respected Professor Diego Valentine had worked hard to become a professor in his field at a young age. He had also been with his wife for over a decade, but then his life became complicated. His marriage fell apart and his ex wife, Linda demanded part of his financial assets, then his brother Matty started setting him up with random women.
Diego then found himself strangely drawn to the beautiful and spirited young women, Cassandra, that he saw for one on one tutorials. He likes that she is not afraid to go after what she wants, but he’s adamant that he can’t be falling for her, as that would be inappropriate. After all, she’s his student and half his age, and yet Diego, for once can’t seem to do the sensible thing, and Cassie is also not giving up on him that easily. I liked the main characters, Diego and Cassie from the previous two books that they feature in, and their chemistry once again, came across in the narrative and led to some steamy scenes. It was interesting to see their romance from Diego’s point of view rather that Cassie’s. I was pleased that their love story had a HEA.

I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming romance, and having loved the previous books in this series it was nice to be back in Bunya Junction. The storyline focuses on Yolanda Watson, who has returned to her hometown from the big city, having separated from her high school sweetheart husband, Michael. Yolanda and her young daughter are back in Bunya Junction and surrounded by family and hoping to start a new life, but she’s missing her husband. Meanwhile, Michael’s life is falling apart after his wife left him, and he’s definitely not ready to give up on his marriage to his soulmate. Michael returns to Bunya Junction, willing to do anything to get his family back, and make Yolanda see that they still love each other. However, Michael has a secret to tell, but telling his wife the truth about his circumstances is harder than he expected, and it will be the ultimate test of their love. As usual the authors descriptive narrative brings the wonderful setting of Bunya Junction vividly to life, making me feel yet again immersed in the place. The characters are likeable and relatable, especially Yolanda and Michael and I was hoping they would get their HEA. I liked that the romance storyline was slightly different as the couple were actually already married. An enjoyable and engaging read which I definitely recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming and inspirational sweet romance. The novel is set in the Great Smoky Mountains and along the Appalachian Trail, and the authors wonderfully detailed descriptive narrative brings this setting vividly to life, making me feel as though I was actually there alongside Juliet. Juliet is the leader of the Freedom and Faith group, but isn’t sure of God’s plan for her. She jumps at the chance to lead two other women on a journey to hike sections of the Appalachian Trail, hoping that by getting back to nature she will grow closer to God. Unfortunately, Juliet becomes ill whilst days away from their planned exit point, and so her friends call 911. Loner Jake comes to Juliet’s rescue, but she thinks he looks more like a grizzly bear. However, when she’s ready to leave Jake then becomes ill and needs Juliet to help him. Getting to know Jake better she realises that he’s a man with a heart and a past. When there is a opening at the medical clinic in Hollow Creek Juliet applies, with the thought that it will give her time to help Jake get his life back on track. When Jake finds out the truth, his walls start to tumble down and the pair try to put the past and their own issues aside in order to work out their differences. I liked the main characters, Juliet and Jake and I enjoyed how their relationship developed throughout the story. The storyline flowed well, and this was an enjoyable and engaging read which I definitely recommend.

An enjoyable and exciting paranormal romance, featuring wolf shifters and fated mates, which had me hooked from start to finish. This is the third book featuring the werewolves of the ‘Powder River Pack’, but it can be read as a standalone story. Werewolf Brandon Quarters is seen as the jokester of the pack but has decided to join the military. However, in a night out before he’s deployed he meets a women in a bar, who happens to be his mate. As soon as Brandon returns home he’s determined to find the women and make her his, but there’s a surprise waiting for him at the pack bar. Macy Cutler has always had a lot of expectations on her shoulders, desperate to be a good daughter and not follow in her sister’s reckless footsteps. This all changes following one night of passion with a man she met in a bar. Years later and Macy has overcome lives many obstacles to make a life of her own, but she’s never forgotten her one night stand. The characters and setting are brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative, making me feel immersed in the storyline . I found both Brandon and Macy to be likeable characters and their instant chemistry really came across in the story. I look forward to future books in this series.

A lovely sweet contemporary romance with a second chance at love theme, which kept me happily turning the pages. Kayden James and Liam had a relationship when they were younger which ended badly, having both moved on and achieved great things career wise, neither of them have met ‘the one’. Successful marriage and family therapist, Kayden thought she had put the past behind her until, Liam, the man who broke her heart turns up years later, claiming he’s changed. Liam’s one regret was letting Kayden slip through his fingers, and he’s determined to prove to her that he’s changed, and that she can trust him, but she’s not making it easy for him. I liked both Kayden and Liam’s characters and could feel the chemistry between them, but could also understand Kayden’s reluctance at giving Liam a second chance. However, I was cheering them on hoping they would both get their HEA. This was a fairly quick read, but an enjoyable and engaging one with a heartwarming storyline and likeable characters.

Having read and enjoyed the previous two books in this series I was looking forward to this third novel and was definitely not disappointed. It was good being back with Emma Evans as her adventures with solving crimes and mysteries continued, in this enjoyable and engaging YA novel. Set in Chicago, in 1885, Emma is contacted about the reading of a will involving a prior client, she has to determine if this inheritance is a good thing or not. On a trip to New York City, Jeremy and Emma become closer and their relationship deepens, so much so that they want to stay together on their return, but there are limited choices for a young couple in 1885. A new case soon becomes complex involving, kidnapping, murder, drugs and hidden plots, luckily Emma has a team of both old and new friends to help her solve this. However, the case becomes personal when secrets are exposed about Jeremy and Emma’s personal life, and loved ones are put in danger. Emma also agrees to meet Tony in Paris as he needs help, but Jeremy has an ulterior motive when he convinces her to go alone. The authors descriptive narrative brings the settings and era vividly to life, making me feel immersed in the story. The exciting storyline and plot twists kept me hooked from start to finish, and I liked ‘catching up’ with old friends from the previous books. This can be read as a standalone story, but for more of an understanding of Emma’s backstory, I would recommend reading the series in order. I hope there will be a fourth book in this series.

This was a fast paced paranormal romance, featuring wolf shifters, that had me gripped from start to finish. The very likeable and relatable heroine of the story Lily, has been a captive of the Huntington’s, the Wolf Hollow Royals for a year and has been working as their slave. Lily is a human among the Wolf Hollow Pack, of wolf shifters. The Royals have been away touring their pack lands but when they return Lily is surprised by her reaction to them, especially the Prince. The future Alpha and King of Wolf Hollow, Jason is biding his time until he can take over from his father, the Alpha and end his terrible regime. On returning home one sniff of Lily and he knows she’s his mate despite being a mere slave girl and a human. Jason is determined to be a good mate to Lily, but with his parents against the match, another wolf wanting to claim Lily, and the rebels at the gates, all conspiring to keep them apart, Lily and Jason may not get their HEA.
I liked the main characters, Lily and Jason and their chemistry came across in the writing. I was especially engaged with Lily, and really felt for her and the tragic circumstances she found herself in. The other characters and setting were brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative, immersing me in the story. The storyline does deal with some sensitive issues, and although things happen ‘off page’, they do have a significant impact on the storyline. I hope some of the secondary characters mentioned will also get their own stories. I found myself engrossed in this story and was shocked by the cliffhanger ending, so I am now waiting impatiently for book two in this series!

I found this historical cozy mystery story to be an enjoyable and entertaining read, and one which had me hooked from start to finish. It’s a fairly short novel but it’s definitely action packed with plenty of plot twists that kept me guessing. Our heroine, Jenny is trying to keep her father’s PI business running after he’s turned to alcohol. A call from the state penitentiary is the start of a new case, searching for a stolen necklace but soon Jenny finds she’s in the sights of a killer. The call is from her Uncle who is in prison for robbery, but he’s concerned about his daughter, Jenny’s cousin Betty and needs help. Betty is wearing a pendant which Jenny is pretty sure is stolen but her cousins not talking about it. Things take a dramatic turn when Betty gets gunned down and the necklace is stolen. Suddenly Jenny is not just looking for a thief but also a murderer, she needs to discover the identity of a man named Jack before he disappears again, and maybe even kills again. I found the main character, Jenny very likeable and relatable and felt engaged with her, as though I was alongside her as she investigated. The author’s descriptive narrative made the setting come alive and the added historical details made me feel I had gone back in time. I look forward to future books in this series, featuring Jenny.

As a fan of the ‘Logan McKenna Mystery series’ I was intrigued to read these two companion stories, which are a prequel to the series. In the first novella the storyline is set in the Appalachian hills, over fifty years ago, and we are introduced to Logan’s great grandmother, Norah and Giovanni. Giovanni is a young Italian immigrant who is skilled at making hand crafted violins and he creates his masterpiece, Bella. Bella becomes a treasured family heirloom that is handed down through the generations and will eventually be given to Logan.
In the second short story, we are introduced to Logan but in a period of her life before that in the series. Logan’s storyline begins in the final days before the fatal accident where she will loose both her husband, and her comfortable illusions. This is the start of her reinventing herself and the beginning of her adventures. I was gripped by both wonderfully written stories and the descriptive narrative brought the settings vividly to life, especially that of the Appalachian hills.
Norah and Giovanni were likeable and relatable characters, and theirs was a real love story which I felt completely immersed in. The second storyline gives a much more in-depth backstory to Logan, which made me understand her character better, and therefore I feel more engaged with her. I look forward to reading more of Logan’s adventures as she investigates mysteries in future books in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this fun, lighthearted romantic comedy, which kept me happily turning the pages. Set in the old town of Cupid’s Cove, where “Love is Everything”, the author really made the setting come alive, making me feel immersed in the story. The storyline focuses on the town’s mayors daughter Lara and new comer Graham. Graham is a marketing specialist who’s opening his own bakery alongside his newly developed dating app, which matches couples through their taste buds. However, Lara works for the competition, her mother’s bakery. Can the couple put their differences aside and take the ‘cookie match challenge’, and maybe find true love together. I loved the main characters, Graham and Lara were likeable and relatable, and their chemistry came across strongly in the narrative. I was cheering them on hoping they would get their HEA, this is an enjoyable and engaging heartwarming read.

This is a fun, lighthearted romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Sophie never planned on falling in love with Gil, but whilst staying with his family and getting some French mountain air, she seems to be changing her mind. Unfortunately for actress and influencer Sophie, Gil has a bad case of commitment phobia. To complicate things further for Sophie, who is having an existential crisis, she also has to fend off a Frenchman and deal with her boyfriends very beautiful ex girlfriend. Oh, and she’s also dealing with a very grumpy llama, and being chased around the farm by angry goats! I found the main characters, Sophie and Gil a little hard to relate to in the beginning of the novel but I grew to love them as the storyline developed. Gil’s loving and liberated family were great and I enjoyed the interactions between them all. The grumpy llama brought humour to the story, as did the angry goats. The French mountain setting came to life through the descriptive narrative and made me feel immersed in the story. Overall, this was an enjoyable and entertaining read.

Another enjoyable and engaging novel in the ‘Welcome to Bunya Junction’ series. I was looking forward to returning to Bunya Junction and I was definitely not disappointed. Set in a small town in Australia, the authors descriptive narrative really brings Bunya Junction to life and I could picture the setting, making me feel fully immersed in the story. The storyline focuses on Dr. Scott Carruthers who runs the small town busy hospital at Waratah River. Having also set up a foundation to help others achieve their dreams Scott is far to busy for a relationship. However, when he meets the new specialist obstetrician, Dr. Franceen Lewis the instant attraction he feels is a completion he doesn’t need. Franceen took the job to start her life over after a tragic loss resulted in the end of her marriage, which was an unhappy one. She just wants to focus on her career and helping others, but she’s not sure how long she can deny the connection she feels towards Scott. Wary of getting involved with another man, Scott continuously proves he’s not like her ex. The more time they spend together both professionally and personally the more their relationship grows but Franceen has trouble putting her past behind her and it may cost her, her future happiness. I loved the main characters as they were both likeable and relatable, and I loved how their relationship developed and grew throughout the story. This heartwarming romance kept me happily turning the pages and I was hoping that Franceen and Scott would get their HEA.

I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming and uplifting first book in the ‘Cliff Walk Cousins’ series of Christian historical romances. This story focuses on sheltered and blessed Christian girl, Faith Davenport and her Uncles’s apprentice Nico d’Amici, who brings unexpected romance into her life. Faith enjoys spending time at her Uncle’s architecture business as his assistant when she meets Will, who is pleased to be offered the opportunity to apprentice to well known and respected Will Travers. Will was not expecting to meet Faith and to have an immediate connection with her. Unfortunately Faith’s cousin Thomas is not pleased by their growing friendship and does his best to intervene in their relationship. However, soon the couple have more problems when accusations of theft threatens Nico’s freedom. Can Faith fight not only her family but also keep the man she loves out of prison. This is a wonderfully written romance with plenty of plot twists and drama that had me hooked from page one. The author made both the era and the setting come to life though the descriptive narrative and historical details, making me feel immersed in the story. I loved Faith and Nico and was hoping they would get their HEA. I look forward to some of the secondary characters getting their own stories in future books in this series.

An enjoyable contemporary romance with a fake fiancé theme. In order to prove she’s worthy of a promotion, Amara Gabriel agrees to pretend to be engaged to her younger, handsome colleague. Petro Mikalos is the office hot shot and is ten years younger than Amara, so she doesn’t think anyone would believe they were starry-eyed fiancées planning a wedding. However, unknown to Amara, Petro has an office crush on her and so jumps at the opportunity to pose as her fake fiancé when asked by their boss. Petro has bad memories of his first wedding which ended in tragedy but he’s willing to re-live it if it means spending time with Amara. The assignment is in California, and so the couple must travel together as fiancé’s. Unfortunately Petro’s parents live there and so will expect a visit, but he haven’t spoken to his famous movie producer father in three years. He’s willing to risk it for the chance of a promotion, and to spend time with and get close to Amara. Although book five in a series it can be read as a standalone story. I’ve enjoyed the whole series and this one was just as engaging as the others. The author has a way of immersing you into the story and makes the setting and characters come to life.

I thoroughly enjoyed this gripping novel and was hooked from start to finish. One night twenty years ago changed everything for best friends Cate and Patti. Cate Silver has had to live with the fact that she killed a man, whilst Patti Thomas had the guilt of leaving her friend and not looking back. Until the case was reopened, Cate thought she had gotten away with it but now she fears she could loose everything. Cate believes that ‘trading her freedom for the truth’ is her only option, and Patti who now has a family of her own and who had moved away, knows she has to return to help her old friend. Together the friends have to decide whether to reopen old wounds of that night or to keep them secret, especially as new evidence comes to light which could destroy their lifetime of friendship. This novel kept me reading well into the night as I just could not put this book down. The storyline and the characters came to life through the narrative and I felt engaged with both Cate and Patti, and the strength of their friendship really came across in the writing. The plot twists and turns kept me guessing as to the ending and the book was full of suspense. A captivating and engaging read which I definitely recommend.

This is a fun, lighthearted paranormal romance which had me hooked from start to finish. As usual the author brought both the characters and setting to life through her descriptive narrative, making me feel immersed in the story. I loved all the characters as each one is so unique, especially the cigar-smoking octopus named Clyde! Each one brings something different to the story, but the main characters, Lockwood and Rex where particular likeable. The chemistry between them really came across and I was hoping they would get a HEA. The storyline as ever was intriguing and gripped me from page one. The plot has everything from magic, mayhem, humour, chaos, fated mates, meddling, shifters, and of course, plenty of romance and drama, what’s not to like!

I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming historical romance novella and was hooked from start to finish. Noah Adams discovers that the large piece of land gifted to him by his father on his twenty first birthday, will only legally be his if he marries within four weeks. Noah has limited choices as there are no local women available. Meanwhile, impoverished spinster Mary Stanton is about to be promised to a lecherous man, whom she has escaped from in the past. Mary jumps at the chance to enter into a proxy marriage with Noah. The plan is for Mary to walk away at the end of the contract, but as the couple spend more time together there is hope that their marriage of convenience may turn into a love match. This is a sweet, clean romance with a HEA and no cliffhanger. It’s an enjoyable and engaging fairly quick read which is wonderfully written, and has likeable and relatable characters in Mary and Noah. The setting is brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative and I felt immersed in the storyline. I look forward to future books in this series.

An enjoyable and engaging historical romance mystery with a paranormal twist. This debut novel had me hooked from page one with its fascinating and unique storyline. Tess Burton owns Divine Vintage, a clothing boutique, but Tess has the ability to see visions when she touches the vintage clothing. Whilst modelling an Edwardian era gown, Tess suddenly sees through the eyes of a murdered bride. What she sees of this century old murder disputes the local claim that it was her bridegroom that committed the crime. Trey Dunmore is unsure about these visions that Tess claims to have, but he is keen to clear his family’s tainted legacy, and so agrees to help her explore the past. By using the dead woman’s clothing and her diary, Tess and Trey are able to discover that in 1913 there are a list of murder suspects, not just the bridegroom. With a murder mystery to solve the couple try to deny their chemistry but soon wonder if past emotions are influencing them, or is their blossoming relationship real. This wonderfully written dual timeline novel kept me gripped until the last page. The characters are likeable and relatable and I felt particularly engaged with Tess. The setting and era came vividly to life through the authors descriptive narrative and the historical details, making me feel immersed in the story. A great read which I highly recommend.

An enjoyable and engaging paranormal romance and a great start to a new series. Human, Cathy Lu is concentrating on her career having been disappointed by past relationships, so she’s not looking for love. However, drawn to the magic around the August Full Moon she meets an Angel, Daedriel, who makes all her desires come true. Daedriel is a seraph, bound to blood, death, and responsibility, and so has never been in love or had a relationship, but one kiss from Cathy and he’s thinking of forever with her. Soon evil surrounds them and Daedriel has to keep Cathy safe but is that by keeping her close or keeping her far away from him and the darkness that threatens him. The storyline flows well and the plot kept me happily turning the pages. I loved Daedriel and Cathy which made me feel engaged with them and the story. Their chemistry really came across in the narrative and I was cheering them on hoping they would get their HEA.

An enjoyable and engaging historical romance which had me hooked from page one. The author manages to bring a period of history vividly to life with her descriptive narrative and historical details, which made me feel immersed in the era and the setting. Set in a time when white men had black slaves and black women could not say no to a white man, this is South Carolina in 1864. Slave Penny is sold to Leon Falcon, who decided to buy her because he wanted her. Leon’s plan was to buy her, teach her and then take her, but he soon discovers that Penny has her own plans. Although Leon has slaves he does look after them and he soon finds himself falling in love with Penny. However, their relationship is unheard of at that time and they face many obstacles, but they love each other and are determined that they will not be separated. I loved Penny as a character, she’s strong and determined and very likeable and relatable. The chemistry between her and Leon sizzles off the page and I liked how there relationship developed despite the obvious complications. This is a heartwarming and at times heartbreaking romance which I literally could not put down.

I thoroughly enjoyed this engaging historical romance which was full of period details which made me feel immersed in the story. The storyline follows the Brightly sisters, and this novel focuses on Charmaine Brightley, who in order to protect her younger sisters, when they lose the family’s inheritance to a distant male cousin, makes plans to make a practical marriage match. Charmaine believes that romantic love is a ridiculous notion, until she meets a stranger at her own masquerade ball and she can’t deny their instant attraction. Duke Konstantin “Kosta” Rostov had to abandon Russia and travel to England following a tragic duel. Kosta sneaks into a masquerade ball at Cortwood Manor, and when he meets the alluring Lady Charmaine, their chemistry sizzles. Kosta is forced to serve his cruel stepfather and so when he is sent back to Cortwood, he wonders why his stepfather wants him to seek out Charmaine. When he realises his stepfather is out to destroy her, can he go through with it, after all Charmaine has captured Kosta’s heart. The descriptive narrative really brought the setting to life and I loved the main characters, Charmaine and Kosta have a definite connection and I liked how their relationship developed. I look forward to Charmaine’s sisters getting their own stories.

I thoroughly enjoyed this historical crime novel and quickly got into the story despite not having read the previous books in the series. The storyline is set on the Orkney Islands during the Viking era and the author does a great job at bringing this period to life and making the reader feel immersed in the setting. Thorfinn has to appoint a new leader at Buckquoy but bitter rivalries emerge and a woman dies. Ketil and Sigrid must then work together to discover who the killer is, and defend themselves. Luckily this is not the first time they have found themselves in the middle of a murder mystery. I liked the main characters and found them likeable and relatable and could definitely tell they had chemistry between them, even if they didn’t. The book is written from both of their points of view which helped make me feel engaged with them and the story. The storyline flowed well and the plot had me hooked till the last page. I am keen to read the previous books in the series now.

Having read and enjoyed the previous two books in this series I was eagerly looking forward to this third novel, and I was definitely not disappointed. In this story the exciting but dangerous adventure continues, with Earth and other worlds in the MultiVerse in danger of disappearing from reality. An ancient prophecy had foretold of diabolical plans of an “exceedingly intelligent and powerful being”. However, the outcome is unclear and so a mix of gods and mortals battle for the future of all creation. This wonderfully written novel is an exciting, enjoyable and engaging read with an original and complex storyline which had me hooked from start to finish.
The plot twists kept me gripped until the very last page, and I felt completely immersed in the story due to the authors descriptive narrative. The detailed world building brings the settings and characters vividly to life. I enjoyed ‘catching up’ with some familiar faces and also meeting some new ones. Each character is unique and had their own intriguing backstory which adds to the overall narrative. I couldn’t put this book down and thoroughly recommend it, although I would suggest reading the series in order for maximum understanding and enjoyment.

This was an enjoyable and engaging read which kept me happily turning the pages eager to be immersed in the story. Arabella is the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter, in a long line of gifted witches, but who has no magical talent herself. Even her disappointed family refer to her as a ‘brown bud’. Arabella then discovers an affinity for technomancy and her ability not only opens up the mechanical world’s mysteries but she can also manipulate them. Arabella is the first ever clockwork witch which is seen as unnatural in the witching world. As Arabella tries to get to grips with her new power she also has to deal with her family and peers judgement. To complicate her life further she then learns about ‘The Trials’, which she may or may not survive. The detailed world building along with the descriptive narrative brought the setting vividly alive for me, making me feel immersed in the story. I loved the main character, Arabella and found her a likeable and relatable heroine and enjoyed following her adventures as she came into her powers. The storyline was exciting and the plot had me hooked from start to finish.
