Act II. Playing with Fire (Moore Family Saga Book 2) by Michele Sims – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Act II. Playing with Fire (Moore Family Saga, #2)Act II. Playing with Fire by Michele Sims
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Act II Playing with Fire is the 2nd book in the Moore Family Saga, by Michele Sims. It continues the story of Cade and Lecia’s romance as they raise Miles and continue touring with Cade’s band. The story starts out with Vincent revealing some surprising news about Miles. It turns out he has special powers, which some of the family was already aware of, but not the extent. Cade returns home, ending his European tour, in order to be more available for Miles. While I am not fond of Cade’s character, I do like the family ties and relationships in the book. The couple is surrounded by family who take care of each other and are very close knit on both sides. I find Cade to be too controlling, but overall I enjoy the story. I look forward to completing the saga with book 3. I want to see what happens with Miles after moving, and I have an inkling suspicion Aria and he are hiding things. Can’t wait to find out if I’m right!

The Fisher Men X My Heart
Series: The Fisher Men Book 1
by Rebel Nicks O’Dey

The Fisher Men X My Heart was a great 5 star read and book one in The Fisher Men series.
I was pulled in right from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. We meet so many great characters in this book and I loved all of the Fisher men, they were hot. The story goes across several years.

We have Morgan, who grew up next door to the Fisher family. Growing up she bonded with all of the boys in different ways. When she returns from college she has her sights set on one of them. Who will it be? Will she break hearts once the truth comes out?

There is so much more to this great read that I don’t want to give away. I really loved this story. Rebel does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. This is my first read from this author and I look forward to reading more. 1-click and get started today on this great read.

I absolutely loved this book. I love a good mystery, a good suspense and this delivered on it all. I had my suspicions on who and why but it did keep me guessing until the end.
These characters were great and the writing made me feel like I was right there with Johnny.
I don’t want to say anything that will give this away but i will say, this story had me hooked from beginning to end, and I can’t wait to read more about Johnny and his jobs.

Act 11. Playing with Fire
Moore Family Saga
Book 2
☆☆☆☆☆
Excellent story of family and music. Romance and suspense. It has it all, even a little bit steamy.

Lecia, Cade, and little Miles too. Cade has a band that travels around the world. But Leica is getting tired of traveling, and the constant moving around. She wants to settle down as Miles needs school and friends too. Big challenges are coming and as a family, choices need to be made. Let’s not forget Miles has special powers. His mind is older then he is. But he is also charming and protective of his family, He is the man of the house when Pops is working. Read on my reading friends.

Michele Sims second installment of the Moore Family Saga. I love her characters! Miles is my favorite. Michele Sims describes her characters perfectly. You can’t help but fall in love with this family. Well written and a page turner. Take a chance with this intriguing suspenseful book.Just my kind of story. No spoilers here! Just too much to love about this story.

The Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale Series by Ashley Pagano – Review by Emma Morreale

The Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale SeriesThe Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale Series by Ashley Pagano
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really like the idea of supernatural beings living together in a hotel. It’s kind of like a mix between Altered Carbon and the adults from Harry Potter. With that those types of shenanigans bouncing around in my brain, this particular story was more serious that I imagined it would be, but that’s not a bad thing. It was really hard to not think of Link in a little green tunic and hat, and I really wanted him to call Ommily Zelda at least once. But she’s more like Shiek, in that Ommily is some one I would be able to view as a fighter more quickly.
The first couple sentences grab you with the odd details that make everything more real. I could see the puckering in the wallpaper, I could SEE Ommily moving from painting to painting. Ashley Pagano’s writing style is a bit odd but dang, if she doesn’t pull me along with ease.

The Gauntlet by Ashley Pagano is the first book in “The Soppranaturale Series”. I was drawn into the story immediately and did not want it to end. This is a quick read but worth the time. Ommily and Link are tasked with defeating the Gauntlet. Will they work together and win? I really enjoyed the characters of Ommily and Link. The two are different but similar in some aspects. I like that the two of them have powers that work together. This makes them a powerful team. Also, the other characters at the Soppranaturale are interesting as well. I look forward to more in this series and where the story will go in the future.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Scarlet Fever: A Crime Thriller by David Stever is an exciting and fast paced book that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I read a lot of crime books and really enjoy the genre but this is the first book in a long time that felt like a good old fashioned crime story for you to sink your teeth into. A lot of the time now it feels like authors are trying too hard to make the story complex but with this book the author does a great job of keeping you, as the reader, engaged without making everything too complicated.
The story had a great gangster feel to it. The good guys were good and the bad guys were bad. You had that sense of what is right and what is wrong throughout the whole book. This is the type of book that you really get behind the characters and what to help solve the mystery.
This was the first book that I have read by this author and I can honestly say I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to exploring more of his work.

The Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale Series is a short paranormal story of characters who are vampire, shape-shifters, witches and fae. The two main characters are the last two fae and this tells of them finding each other in a supernatural safe haven which is a hotel where they all live and work.
I enjoyed this book. I found it intriguing from the start. I wish there was more detail of how the hotel got started but I’m sure it will be in the other series, hopefully. I will keep reading the rest of the series to find out!

The Fish that Climbed a Tree by Kevin Ansbro. This is my first book by Kevin Ansbro but I loved it. I was leary at first but its such a complex book that the more I read the more I loved and I couldn’t stop thinking about it after I had finished. That’s the sign of a good book. This is the story of Reverend Drummond who is brutally murdered in his London Vicarage. Its the story of the journey of his afterlife. The Reverend’s son Henry is left to live without his father and make it thru this rough world dealing with bullies, big hearted friends and cruel killers. Henry is very sweet, kind and loves to read and write. Will Henry find love and happiness in this life or will he suffer a cruel death like was foretold. This story goes from present to afterlife and you have to pay attention to be able to grasp the full story. I loved this book and will look forward to reading more by this author!

Scarlet Fever by David Stever a four-star read that will set you a on fire. This is my first read by this author, but it wont be my last, I always enjoy a good crime thriller and this was good, it has a darkness that you don’t often see now, it harks back to when I used to read the noir thrillers that got me hooked on reading. Jonny Delarosa is such a good character; he is the epitome of the private investigator. Throw in the mega hot redhead and you have the fixings for a great story and David Stever puts all of those fixings together and create a great story.

This one will stop you in your tracks and will suck you in from the start, its very complex and has a lot and I mean a lot going on but it works and will surprise you. It is an odd one as its dark but there is a lightness as well, this really is a novel of different sides, good, bad and evil. I will definitely be looking out for more from this author.

The Trouble With Paradise (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 4) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Katie Matthews

The Trouble with Paradise (Madeline Dawkins #4)The Trouble with Paradise by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Trouble with Paradise was another very enjoyable read in the Madeline Dawkins series! I absolutely love Madeline and Mike – they are such an awesome team and I love reading about them and trying to solve they mysteries right alongside them. The cases that they are involved in investigating always throw up some great twists and turns – I enjoy guessing what’s going to happen and I think the author does an amazing job of keeping the suspense and mystery running through the whole story. There were also some interesting secondary characters introduced into the story too. The two cases in this story were really interesting and I enjoyed reading about how Madeline and Mike unravelled just what happened.
I do really enjoy Ms Hamilton’s writing, I am always engaged in her stories straight away and my level of interest doesn’t falter over the story. I highly recommend this book and this series – they really are excellent reads!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a cool idea for a Paranormal story! A hotel with a floor and secret area for Paranormals to be themselves. I enjoyed these characters! They were fun and full of wonder. It took me a bit to understand who and what Link was let alone why he was so curious and excited about meeting Ommily. Once I figured all that out I was golden!

The secondary characters were fun and added a lot of smiles to the story. I would have hoped each of them would have gotten their own story in future books. I think we will be finding out more and more about Link and Ommily in future books but that seems up in the air. The book ends not on a cliffhanger but leaves the reader wondering how the characters will move forward.

5-Stars

Aiko is the first book in the Heartstrings series and was an interesting read. Aiko is a Cupid who has a rocky and colorful past. She is assigned to Alejandro to help him find his match. Alejandro has a hard time with romance but has a way with animals. The two made for an invigorating read.

I loved the banter between the two main characters and also the different dates they worked through. Aiko was very to the point and Al was full of sarcasm. This book was easy to read and I could not put it down. I was at the end before I realized it. I highly recommend this fun and romantic read. I can’t wait to read more in this series. I loved it.

A refreshing change of pace, THE GAUNTLET is a tale of magical creatures who cohabitate in a way that helps keep the mystical secrets from the human world. Like the blurb says, it’s literally hidden in plain site.

This is the first book I’ve read by the author and I enjoyed the way ze wrote. Great world building, wonderful relationship development, humor, suspense and all around great writing.

This blew me away as this is a first book I read from an this author!

I loved the depth of emotion she took me on! The characters are easy relatable and easily loved. I’m a sucker for single parents and loved Colby. She’s a single mom trying to make it but luck isn’t in her favor until a big accident happens and everything changes…..And then there is michael….. Michael is everything you will want and more!

Beautiful book and I crave more!

Gumshoe And The Mysterious Mushrooms (Gumshoe Mysteries Book 1) by Laura Hawks

5-Stars

Gumshoe And The Mysterious Mushrooms was a creative and fascinating paranormal mystery novel featuring a young girl and her familiar. When Mia turns fifteen she gains an interesting ability and meets her familiar, a Siamese cat named Gumshoe. Together they plan to help save her families business when someone tampers with the food leading to serious poisoning cases allover town.

I loved the scenery and character development in this novel. Mia and Gumshoe made an excellent pair and I loved learning tidbits of Gumshoe’s past. I also felt that the storyline was easy to follow and that it would be appropriate for a young adult audience. I can’t wait to read more from this author and I highly recommend this book. I absolutely loved it.

Scarlet Fever (A Johnny Delarosa Thriller Book 1) by David Stever – Review by Emily Walsh

Scarlet Fever: A Crime ThrillerScarlet Fever: A Crime Thriller
By: David Stever
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Scarlet Fever (A Johnny Delarosa Thriller Book 1) by David Stever was a thrilling mystery that had my hooked, and on the edge of my seat.

My first read from this author I was stopped in my tracks by the cover, which drew me to the synopsis, and you can say the rest is history. It didn’t take me long to get sucked into this drama, and I have to say, I was quite impressed with the writing, detail and the dark grittiness, that almost takes you back to those old PI books from your parents closet. I will say there was some predictability to it, but in all it was a well crafted read, that keep me hooked and engaged.

Overall this book is worth your time and energy. The characters are smooth, cool and alluring. The setting is dangerous but a little sexy, and the tone matches the plot and setting perfectly. The side and supporting characters rounded out the story, and made it realistic and entertaining. The mystery was fun and full of danger, it kept me guessing and wondering if our MC will bight it. A little nail biting action, and the fear that maybe this author might actually do it, will keep you flipping the pages.

To end this book gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading
