Everyday Enchantments: Musings on Ordinary Magic and Daily Conjuring’s by Maria DeBlassie was a unique read. I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. I do not normally read non fiction but this was a refreshing read. I enjoyed getting a look into the authors mind and so many of the short stories felt right at home with me. I felt a sense of calm wash over me when I started reading. It made me want to focus on myself and my internal thoughts versus just running through the everyday tasks of life.

The Dreamer’s Vengeance by Helen Tyree – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Dreamer's VengeanceThe Dreamer’s Vengeance by Helen Tyree
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I must stress, I rarely gravitate so quickly to fantasy novels. The Dreamer’s Vengeance however, was an impulsive choice that I am so glad I made! Helen Tyree is a new author to me, but when I saw this cover and read the blurb I was hooked already. The novel that lies between the covers is a fantastic journey that I became lost in. Tyree writes with a vividness that is rare. I felt as if I was visiting this new world, following right along with the characters. I smelled and felt the air as if they did, her writing really transforms you that much.

The plot is original with characters that you can’t help but falling in love with. Honestly, this book checks all the boxes and it is hard to say anything to the contrary. However, I will say that there were several times I did become lost in the transitions. It was complicated to decipher which character I was reading, and I found myself re-reading at times to sort it all out. The story and descriptive writing makes that an easy thing to deal with though. I can’t wait to see what else we will get from Helen Tyree. I am gonna go get some of her other novels while I wait!

A Divided Mind by M. Billiter – Review by Liz Vrchota

A Divided MindA Divided Mind by M. Billiter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Thrillers are often one of my guilty pleasures. So when I saw the gripping cover for A Divided Mind I sort of went in blind. I have not read M. Billiter before so I was also new to her writing. I think I was quite pleasantly surprised by what this book turned into being. I will say right now, this book doesn’t really belong in the thriller category, to me at least. It doesn’t mean this book wasn’t great it is just miscategorized for what the story truly does tell.

What do we get then if not a thriller? A very emotional and thought provoking journey of a young man, Branson, and his fight with his mental health. This is written in dual POV sharing his thoughts and journey and being balanced with his mother’s, Tara, point of view. I really felt so much emotion every single time I would get to his parts of the book. I wanted to reach in and give him a hug. Tara on the other hand, I struggled to get attached to. I kind of feel like she went about things in some questionable ways. In the same point, it made the story have dimension to see her struggles with dealing with single motherhood and a mentally troubled son. Overall, for me this was a pretty solid four star read. I will definitely be on the look-out for more novels by M. Billiter and I look forward to seeing what new things are in the works.

Really???!!!

***Throwing up the white flag***

I give up, every single time I think this author can not write a better book then the last one of hers I finished she goes and writes another one, and tackles yet another topic which I can’t even come close to imagining and by the end makes it all seem normal. Thriple? Really?? My favorite word of the week.

There was one point at about 3⁄4’s of the way through that my heart was racing so fast, I couldn’t read fast enough and I was speed walking with Athena yelling You Go Girl!!

I can’t even …this was such an amazing read…I smiled, I shook my head, I was angry, I was flustered, I was in love, I was running around trying to find things to fan myself with…I worked really hard reading this story and I’m wore slap out yet I want to read it all again…

I’m not even going to go into any of the storyline, just know that this is absolutely one of my favorite books so far this year and definitely in the group of my favorites of all time. The writing is perfection and as I learned early on I go into all of this authors books with an open mind and somehow she takes all kinds of topics that I don’t choose to read and has taught me that there is a whole lot more normal then I had ever thought possible and I have built up such a trust in her writing that I know that things I don’t read will always be handled beautifully when I pick up her books. It’s hard to explain and I dont have the words which is why I’m the reader and she’s the author.

This is a young adult story about mental illness. This is a well written story with great characters. The author’s attention to detail made me feel as if I was right there with them. It is told in the POV of all the characters which made it for fast reading. It takes you on a journey of a family that has to deal with mental illness and trying to hold it together. Hearing voices in your head can feel real as real can be as Branson is just about to find out. I highly recommend this book.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the fourth book in this series, I enjoyed it just as much as the first three. My favorite part of this book was the characters, Milo and Juniper. The are well developed characters that are like fire and ice, opposites. They made me laugh a few times as they seem to get themselves into some type of conflict everywhere they went. But they are sweet and I enjoyed their chemistry together. Their story is romance and learning to work through their differences. I highly recommend their story.

Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana – Review by Sarah Oakes

Orion's KissOrion’s Kiss by Claire Luana
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great read about fate. Meriah is one of the Pleaides trying to save her sisters from a terrible fate. Tired of watching them die, she decides to finally take action against nt Orion, the man responsible. But events unravel and it turns out there is more to the story than Meriah ever realised. Can she still do the right thing and save her sisters?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Meriah trying to do the right thing despite her vision or Ryan stubborn but kind underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the optimistic Brandon or the supportive Zoe.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the sense of nature in the lake by the cabin or the stars in the night sky for a sense of calm. Or with the sibylls house later on with its red carpets and orange flowers and engravings full of vibrant colours and history behind them wonderfully written. Or the visions with the water and the pillars so vivid it’s as if you’re actually there.
I loved the use of mythology throughout the novel like Orion or Zeus or the Fates true to their origins given the respect they deserve. I also liked the use of different myths like the Pleaides, instead of the more important gods other fantasy novels use making it fresh and exciting.
The first person narrative worked well to display Meriahs journey and thoughts and feelings. The use of memories and or flashbacks worked well and didn’t disrupt from the narrative of the present. The combination of realism of high school and fantasy of fates made for a wonderful read Fast paced action and high stakes made for a captivating read. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

I loved this book, where shifters and humans clash. This is a creative story that has well developed characters that pull you into the story and made it feel real. This story takes place in a world that is full of injustice and prejudice. A breed registry is created for dogs but what will happen when they had shifters to the mix? I enjoyed watching Brodie and Tails grow throughout the story, they made great characters. What will happen when they take charge of their future? A must read!

They were able to pull me into the story right from the beginning. This is a story about Asia. She has lost three hours of memory along with everything she values in her life. One man risks everything for her, the problem is she isn’t supposed to love him. The twists and turns along with the battle that is raging kept me turning pages until the end. The story Unchained Memory (Interstellar Rescue Series Book 1) by Donna S. Frelick is a science fiction book. It has a way of pulling you in and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had read the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Asia Burdette and Ethan Roberts. Asia is a woman who is independent, strong, and intelligent. She is also determined to find out what happened to the three hours that she can’t remember. Ethan is a psychiatrist who has compassion for his patients. He is determined to help Asia. What does the future hold for Asia and Ethan? Will they get the answers that they are looking for? Read this book to find out. The story has suspenseful moments when I wondered what was going to happen next. There are also romantic scenes that will make the temperature in the room rise. I grew to care about Ethan and Asia with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to succeed and find happiness. There are other additional characters that are introduced. Many of them are helpful to Ethan and Asia. Then there are those with their own agenda. Don’t miss out on a book that has action and adventure. I highly recommend reading it.

The story Tails Always Wins (Chasing Tails Book 1) by C.A. King is a wonderful shifter book. It pulled me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put the book down until I had finished the last page. It is a story that includes not only an interesting and entertaining storyline it also has 2 main characters that grew to care about with each chapter that I read. They are Brodie and Tails. Brodie is a shifter that keeps his nose clean. He doesn’t make waves. He keeps one side of himself hidden from society. He is finding it hard to stay under the radar. He then meets Tails. Tails is a woman who is strong, intelligent, and beautiful. Before she meets Brodie she never would have thought to question what she is told. What does the future hold for Brodie and Tails? Read this book to find out. There are moments that are sad, ones that are emotional, and there are times when you wonder what is going to happen next. I love shifter stories and I can add this one to my list of favorites. The author has done an amazing job of creating an awesome story with amazing characters. I highly recommend reading it.

I read this in one sitting and was so totally invested that real life just paused while I read. I loved The Last Dance which was my first introduction to this author and this one solidified my adding her to my one click list and being a forever fan.

So this book picks up just a bit after The Last Dance, Sorrel has become one of my favorite characters and I truly want her as my friend 🙂 Chris makes me want to slap him as hard as Sorrel does most of the time. I love her love/hate relationship with him and their back and forth is completely awesome. I also love that the author keeps us guessing about those two.

The storyline of this book had me a mess through most of it, I was guessing a lot and was usually proved wrong and I was as confused as Chris and Sorrel were. This one had a lot going on and had a lot of moving parts at all times and those are the kind of books I can not put down. There were a lot of emotions throughout and I recommend highly reading the first book before this one as it follows the story of these characters.

I can not wait to see where she takes this story next and can already tell I’ll be rereading these in the future.

LOVED IT!!!

Two Hearts Under Fire by Tamara Ferguson a four-star read that will warm your heart. This is number eight in the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior series, but they are each stand-alone telling a great story that will suck you in and make you care. It will also have your heart racing and not for the good reasons you want. Russ and Claire will warm your heart but they both have pasts that would have broken lesser people, but somehow, they have a strength that will give you power to face anything just by reading about their story.

Blackbird’s Deliverance by Lisette Kristensen a five-star read that will blow you away. This is number four in the Silent Secrets series and they are quick enough that you can read the whole series quickly and easily. The action pops off the page and doesn’t stop from start to finish, if the story was longer you couldn’t keep the pace up, but as it’s a short it keeps the pace up very well. Blackbird is intense and powerful, giving us a great story that is full of drama, don’t miss this series as we all need to face our past at some point and also at another point, we will all need saving.

Via Mari was raised in both the United States and United Kingdom and travels extensively. As a child she spent uncountable hours traveling and always enjoyed reading to pass the time and this pattern has continued in her adult life.

In fact, you can still find her curled up in an overstuffed chair, when the wood fire is crackling and popping, reading a page-turning novel until the early hours of the morning, especially during the harsh winters of the Midwestern United States or engrossed in a book as she travels from place to place researching for her own novels, or attending conferences.

Via’s inspiration to publish stemmed from research as she began writing love scenes for her own novels. It became apparent there seemed to be a cultural divide between what people believed was normal or vanilla sexual behavior and that which people considered BDSM and she felt compelled enough to write about the differences, similarities, and extreme feelings and levels of trust individuals in dominant and submissive relationships must have, and the desires that are at the heart of these relationships.

As a military brat growing up, I was a voracious consumer of science fiction in all forms—in books, in movies and on television. As I grew older I began to recognize that my favorite forms of SF included liberal doses of romance—Classic STAR TREK, the writers of the New Age “humanist” revolution (Zenna Henderson, Ursula K. LeGuin, Theodore Sturgeon among others), and later THE X-FILES and AVATAR. So it was no surprise that when I started writing science fiction, my work would feature a heavy romantic arc, too.

Along my way to a science fiction romance writing career I’ve been married to a great guy since just out of college, been a Peace Corps Volunteer in Africa, raised a family (two girls, three grandkids), tried organic farming, been a community activist, earned black belts in two different styles of martial arts and written four STAR TREK fanfic novellas (and numerous short stories) for “underground” publication. (Ask me sometime about TREK conventions!)

In 2012, my first two SFR novels finaled in the Romance Writers of America® Golden Heart® contest for unpublished manuscripts. Shortly thereafter, I found my first literary home. Unchained Memory was released from INK’d Press in February, 2015. Trouble in Mind followed in February, 2016. The third book in my Interstellar Rescue series, Fools Rush In, debuted in October, 2016 and promptly won a coveted SFR Galaxy Award. You can read the first chapter of Trouble in Mind for free in the popular Portals anthology (Volume One).

The fourth novel in my series, Not Fade Away, launched in 2018 and is also a winner of the SFR Galaxy Award. With the demise of INK’d Press, all my Interstellar Rescue series books are now under my own imprint but can still be found on Amazon.

I’m a member of the Romance Writers of America, the Science Fiction Romance Brigade, the Fantasy, Futuristic and Paranormal Chapter of RWA, the Golden Network (of past and current Golden Heart finalists) and the Firebirds (2012 Golden Heart finalists).

Currently I live on 43 beautiful mountain acres in Marshall, North Carolina with my husband and four disruptive pets plus the other members of our small intentional community.

5-Stars

Proper Ink (Jaded Lily Book 2) by Zeia Jameson was a sweet romantic read. I loved both Luca and Kerry in this novel. They were both interesting characters introduced in the first novel but I loved learning more about them I this book. I feel this book could be read as a standalone but there are pieces from the first book that filter into this novel. Luca had excellent character development a d I loved how organized Jameson was when traveling back to his past with appropriate chapter headings. It helped me stay on track. Kerry was definitely a sweet heart and I loved how she and Luca seemed to slowly warm to each other. The storyline was very descriptive and fun. I loved the various scenery and descriptive settings. It was easy to visualize and place myself in the novel. This was such a wonderful book and I enjoyed it. I highly recommend it and the series!

Blood Relations (The Sorrel Janes Mysteries) by Lonna Enox – Review by Emily Walsh

Blood RelationsBlood Relations
By: Lonna Enox
My Rating: 3 of 5 stars

Blood Relations by Lonna Enox was a pretty okay read, it was mystery, murder, suspense, and romance. It kept me reading and engaged.

This book takes on a new adventure, but I will say compared to the first book, this one was a little, mixed. I feel like the author was trying to do a little too much, with all the mystery, murder and kidnapping.. the components were well executed but for me, as a whole story, it did fall a little short. I think if a few elements were taken out, and the plot had a more pin point focus, then this book would have shined that much more. I did fine the MC’s a little immature surrounding the seriousness of the plot, so that threw me as well. I get where the author was going, but I think the timing was off.

The overall story, was pretty good. I like the mystery, I liked the flow, and the piecing the clues together and the nail biting suspense. There is a lot of good in this book, and it was that perfect lazy day read that kept me intrigued and flipping the pages. So even though I had some issues with this book, it is worth your time, and it will keep you fully engaged and entertained.

So please take my high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you not see the ending coming.

Happy Reading

This mystery enthralled me from start to finish. The second in the series, I felt it was a solid piece that can stand well on its own but it has a depth available best if read in series order. Enox is a very gifted writer and I am certainly pleased to have found her stories. Great characters and plot. A mystery worth reading more than once.

This is Book 4 in the series and I think it is important to read the stories in order. As with any good series, there are threads that weave through each story to keep them connected.

Each of the stories in the series are detailed, full of adventure and suspense. BLACKBIRD’S DELIVERANCE delivers a story that is worthy of the series. Fast paced with a plot that ebbs and flows and is read with ease.

I recommend this series for sure.

My One Love (The Brothers of Camelot Book 2) by Necie Navone
4 stars

I really love this author, and I am loving this series. This story follows Lexy and Grayson, and boy what a couple. After years apart and secrets to uncover, there’s a lot to this book.
This writing style is very descriptive and while I love that to get a feel of what I’m reading and actually “see” what they see, it almost felt like too much, not in a bad way and maybe it had something to do with my mood lol.
I loved seeing all the characters but i had to take notes as to keep them all straight as they aren’t always referred to as the same name everytime.
Despite those small things for me, I truly loved this story and I cannot wait for more!

Blackbird’s Deliverance (Silent Secrets Series Book 4) by Lisette Kristensen – Review by Sheri Schrader

Blackbird's Deliverance (Book Four)Blackbird’s Deliverance by Lisette Kristensen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blackbird’s Deliverance by Lisette Kristensen is the fourth book in the Silent Secrets series. This is a short novella that doesn’t cut any corners. There is a lot to this continuing story and of Blackbird. This time her past comes to visit her present but without her invitation. Will she be able to stay focused on her mission?
I really enjoy these because of the length and what the author accomplishes. There is so much that takes place I read it in one sitting because I don’t want to put the story down. I have also enjoyed watching Blackbird develop from someone who was tough but privileged into the agent she is becoming. I look forward to more of her adventures in the future.

Whom Shall I Kiss… An Earl, A Marquess, or A Duke? (Tricking the Scoundrels #1) by Laura A. Barnes – Review by Lisa Brydalski

Whom Shall I Kiss... An Earl, A Marquess, or A Duke? (Tricking the Scoundrels #1)Whom Shall I Kiss… An Earl, A Marquess, or A Duke? by Laura A. Barnes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Whom Shall I Kiss…An Earl, A Marquess, or a Duke? (Tricking the Scoundrels Book 1) by author Laura A. Barnes tells the story of Sidney Hartridge, a bluestocking, living in Regency London, after watching her acquaintances get ruined by scoundrels Sidney decides to run a little experiment herself to see whom she can expose to the Ton as a scoundrel. As we all know, in the fictional world, nothing ever goes as planned. She doesn’t count on one of her targets being the man of her dreams.
This was a cute premise for a story, unfortunately the author lost my attention a time or two and while I liked the heroine she was at times, annoying. I enjoyed her best friend Sophia the most and I really want a Sophia of my own. This was an interesting story and I am looking forward to reading Sophia’s book to see who she ends up with.

Two Hearts Under Fire (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 8) By Tamara Ferguson – Review by Katie Kearney

TWO HEARTS UNDER FIRE (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 8)TWO HEARTS UNDER FIRE by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

TWO HEARTS UNDER FIRE (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 8) By Tamara Ferguson. While some might see this as a short read it definitely is filled to the top with everything you could want in a great story. From page one I was hooked to both the characters and storyline. This isn’t my first read by this author and I’ve never been disappointed. I love the mix of suspense and romance this author just knows how to add equal parts. Each character brings something different to the story, they are complex and relatable. I’m excited to see where the author takes readers next and am giving this story a five star review and highly recommend it.
