Rule Breaker

5 out of 5 stars

The story Rule Breaker by Phoebe Alexander is an amazing romance book. It pulls you in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until I had read the last page. It is a story that is romantic and steamy. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Athena and Warren. Athena works hard in the magazine industry and now has to deal with her magazine being on the chopping block. Athena is a strong, beautiful, and determined woman. Her husband Warren has just retired. He is one that has a vivid imagination and thinks up new ideas. Athena finds herself pulled in different directions. One of them involves the marketing director, Ramsey Pearce. What does the future hold for Athena? Read this book to find out. This story is very steamy and will make the temperature in the room rise. There is flirting and teasing as well. There are times when I had a smile on my face and other times that I felt upset with what happens to some of the characters. I grew to care about many of the characters with each chapter that I read. You will want them to be happy and succeed in all that they do. Don’t miss out on a wonderful story that has unforgettable characters. I highly recommend reading it.

I don’t even bother reading the blurbs for the books by this author now because I think she is so wonderful and talented I know I am going to enjoy whatever it is she has written. Rule Breaker was, as expected, a fantastic 5 star read! I loved going in blind as I didn’t have a clue what was going to happen. I loved Athena and Warren; they were such a wonderful couple to read about. She was feisty, independent and he was just adorable and loved Athena so much! I should know by now to expect the unexpected with regards to storyline and characters with Ms Alexander! I loved the way she took the story and how the characters evolved from beginning to end. There were certainly some very hot and steamy encounters along the way between the characters involved! Along with that were some great twists and turns! Whilst I might not always agree with some of the lifestyles this author chooses to write about I can never, ever fault her amazing story telling ability and her talent in drawing you into the lives of her characters thus enabling you to see things from a variety of perspectives!
Another fantastic 5 star read that I cannot recommend highly enough!

The Fire God Tour (Moore Family Saga Book 3) by Michele Sims – Review by Katie Matthews

The Fire God Tour (Moore Family Saga, #3)The Fire God Tour by Michele Sims

I have really been looking forward to reading this third book in the Moore Family Saga and it absolutely did not disappoint at all. I said at the end of the second book that I was looking forward to finding out more about Miles and I got exactly what I wanted and much more! Such and intriguing and talented character I was completely captivated by his story. Some of the scenes between him and Bella were so wonderful to read, passionate yet emotional at the same time. They kind of evolved together as the story went on and I felt that they had such a deep and meaningful connection – one that I really could feel. I have to say I think that it’s possible this is my favourite book out of the series, which is saying something because of how much I loved the first two!!
The authors writing I felt in this story was just amazing, she tied everything together beautifully, bringing older characters back into the story and also introducing new ones. It was an absolute pleasure to read this story from beginning to end! A truly fabulous story (and series) and one that I 100% recommend!

Blood Relations (The Sorrel Janes Mysteries) by Lonna Enox is the second book in the series and Lonna upped the ante in this one. I was intrigued and on tender hooks the whole time wondering what would happen next. There was absolutely no way that I could guess what was going to happen and Lonna certainly threw some twists that you would never see happening. It is actioned packed and full of suspense and mystery often had my heart racing. I love the characters in this series they often make me laugh, they are loyal and they are strong.

Sorrel has unknowingly become embroiled in something when on the hunt for a friend. Will she survive and find out the truth?

I impatiently await the next one.

Two Hearts Under Fire (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 8) By Tamara Ferguson – Review by Shannon Fowler

TWO HEARTS UNDER FIRE (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 8)TWO HEARTS UNDER FIRE by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you have not read the other books in this series stop right now and go get them and read them. Your heart will thank you!

Each book that Ferguson writes is a little sweet, a little sexy, a little dangerous and a whole lot of love.
Claire is hiding from trouble in the form of her ex-husband. Russ is trying to prove his innocence and avoiding the government spy hired to get rid of him. Together they create their own happiness.

Personally, I love these stories. Ferguson’s stories are easy to read for me, although for others with their own personal war stories, there may be triggers. Two Hearts Under Fire is a quick action packed story filled with all things Ferguson!

Can not wait to see who is next for Dragonfly Pointe!

Joined: Book One by Mara Gan was magnificently creative and romantic. I loved Meda and Perseus. Both characters were developed well and easy to fall in love with. I also felt that the author did an excellent job on the supporting characters as well. There was enough description and backstory for several of them that seemed to help the storyline. Speaking of the storyline, I felt that it was easy to follow and had an amazing climax. Not once was I bored with it and honestly I had a hard time putting this book down. I also greatly appreciated the various artistic settings the author described in her novel. They were definitely creative and fun. I truly enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it. I look forward to reading more from this series.

Blackbird’s Deliverance (Silent Secrets Series #4) by Lisette Kristensen is another action packed story that engrossing and enthralling as we once again journey along with Blackbird and the team in another adventure. Lisette is doing a great job at keeping the reader’s interest and the story just keep on getting better. The only problem I have is I wish the stories were longer. The stories are well written and short but they pack a punch and leave their mark. It is easy to see the world and characters due to the vivid writing. I do strongly suggest you read all books in order or you will not know how Blackbird comes about and how she got to where she is now.
Blackbird and the team are called in to find someone, only this one is too close to home.

Proper Ink (Jaded Lily #2)Proper Ink
By: Zeia Jameson
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Proper Ink (Jaded Lily Book 2) by Zeia Jameson was a pretty enjoyable read that had me hooked, and flipping the pages.

Not my first read from this author or in this series, so I new going in that it was going be something fun and entertaining. I wasn’t let down, and I very much enjoyed this book.

I liked the MC’s, both had strong qualities and personalities, that you know, got in the way of them progressing. But in truth that made this romance all the more realistic. I actually related hard to Luca, I tend to fight my feelings hard as well. I understood him, got why he was standoffish, and why it took him a bit to gather himself to make a move. Yes, it’s frustrating, but like I said, it made the story all the more real, as it reflects how real people deal with emotions and hurt. Kerry, I found was that good match, and fit well with him. I got more frustrated in the way she handled work, I get it, sometimes you can’t take a stand, but then again, I felt like she could have use her voice more.

Overall this book was well written, detailed, and it had a sweet, feels invoking romance that was anything but normal. This book is worth your time and energy, and it gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana – Review by Lisa Helmick

Orion's KissOrion’s Kiss by Claire Luana
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this story. The characters are fun, interesting and hard to let go of. The story is full of Greek mythology with a modern twist. We meet the ancient ones in a current day setting with a penchant for the past. Meriah and Zoe are great HS best friends. They are the typical teenagers. Joking, laughing and sharing everything. While we don’t know a lot about Ryan and Brandon’s background they also have a typical bro relationship for high schoolers. When they all pair up things really start moving. There were many times I was surprised at what and how things were happening. Not bad… just shocking and many OMG’s

This isn’t my first book by this author. I love how smooth her stories flow. They are so comfortable and easy to read. I feel like I am meeting and hanging out with new friends. I loved reading this and enjoyed meeting these wonderful characters.

The Trouble With Paradise (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 4) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Sheri Schrader

The Trouble with Paradise (Madeline Dawkins #4)The Trouble with Paradise by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Trouble with Paradise by Cynthia Hamilton is the third book in the Madeline Dawkins Mystery series. I recommend reading these in order but I believe they can be enjoyed as a standalone. There is an underlying portion of the story from the first book which keeps coming up but each mystery is self-contained. This series keeps getting better with each book. Madeline and her partner Mike are on the case with two different cases both involving dead husbands. How did these men die and who is at fault? Mike and Madeline will work together to figure out both cases.
I like there are multiple cases that overlap but have similarities despite being completely different cases. I look forward to reading more about Mike and Madeline and the crazy cases which come across their desks. Also, I have enjoyed seeing how these characters and the secondary characters are developing and changing with each book. I will be reading more of these in the future.

The Trouble With Paradise by Cynthia Hamilton is part of a great series. I have been reading this series in order and have loved everything so far. The author is such a talented writer. These books are loaded with suspense. I keep saying ok one more chapter, let me see where this is going to go and then forget it, another door opens up and I’m still reading a few chapters later.
Two mean are dead. One by suicide and one by a tragic accident where the wife is arrested and blamed for his murder. Mike and Madeline are amazing PI’s and are now on both cases. They investigate every angle
and scenario to find out The Who, what, why, when and how. These two characters are awesome to read about and I love how they are best friends and sometimes more.
Looking forward to more by this author.

Proper Ink is the second book in the Jaded Lily series by Zeia Jameson. This can be a stand alone story but reading the first book will enhance the story that much more. Zeia Jameson has a flowing descriptive story telling ability. This keeps the story interesting, and would keep the pages to turn to the next part of the story. Lucas is a tattoo artist that has been unlucky with the ladies. He was not looking for any lady or relationship for that matter. Lucas met Kerry while she was looking for a tattoo. There was something about her that peaked his interest. He wanted to stay away from her, but the universe had another idea. This is the 4th book in the Madeline Dawkins Mystery Series and I think it should be read in order. There are continuing threads which tie them all together and will make it easier to read.

The author continues to build strong characters and puts them in unexpected positions. The plot line is suspenseful and I’m sure this series could continue for many more books – similar to the cozy mystery series we are familiar with but not so “cozy”.

My One Love (The Brothers of Camelot Book 2) by Necie Navone. This is one of my absolute favorite series! I couldn’t wait to read this one and it was not a disappointment. Its the second book in the series and can be read as a standalone but if you read the Prequel series its better. Its the story of Aless now known as Lexy and Grayson. They first met in New York years ago and there was an instant connection but they were young and didn’t see each other for along time. Lexy has compared each man to Grayson since then and no one measures up. She is determined to find Grayson again and have him. The only concern is what if he’s not the man she has built up in her mind. Grayson has always thought about Lexy even though he’s been all over the world and had numerous random hookups his heart always goes back to Lexy. When they reconnect will it be all they have both thought it would be. Lexy is very independent will Grayson let her chase her dreams and be an equal to him or will he treat her like she is beneath him? I can’t wait to read the next installment.

Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Orion's KissOrion’s Kiss by Claire Luana
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Orion’s Kiss is a Young Adult Fantasy novel by Claire Luana. It is based on Greek Mythology, with a modern setting.
The story centres around the characters of Orion and the Pleiades, particularly the youngest Merope. For millennia, the seven sisters and the hunter have been reincarnated only to meet the same, seemingly unavoidable fate. In the 21st Century, Meriah is determined to use her visions to save her sisters from their fate and is prepared to do anything in her power to stop Ryan from filling the role in their deaths he has occupied for so long.
The story is told from Meriah’s perspective in a first-person narrative that often feels like she is talking to the reader. I particularly liked how, at the beginning, she kept pausing relating her backstory to talk about what was happening in the immediate present. It was a great way to introduce the character as an ancient being but also a teenage girl.
There’s a strong team of supporting characters, particularly Zoe and Brandon. Brandon is very down-to-earth and keeps the story, and the characters, grounded in reality with his focus on important things like food and, er, food. Zoe’s loyalty to Mer and sense of humour make her a refreshing aspect of the story.
For me, this is a five star book. I’d recommend it particularly to young adult and teenage readers who enjoy mythology or urban fantasy, such as fans of the Percy Jackson books. It’s a standalone novel, but Luana has written a number of great fantasy books which fans of Orion’s Kiss might enjoy.

Blackbird has been through a lot and I’m not sure if she will stay or wander back to her previous life.

Orion's KissOrion’s Kiss by Claire Luana
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana, 4 stars.

Merope has watched her 6 sisters die; not just once, but lifetime after lifetime. She has yet to break the cycle, but maybe this time will be different. With the help of her best friend, she comes up with a plan that just might work. But once she gets to know the one whom she blames, Orion, the more she changes her mind. Can what he says be true? Can they break the curse together? Or are they doomed to continue the circle of tragedy? What of the feelings she is developing for him?

This was an interesting paranormal romance standalone book. The characters are young, but that does not detract us older readers. I consider for ages YA and older. The main characters are great, as well as the best friends. I would love to see more on the friends at some point, too. The story itself pulls you in and has plenty of action the further in you go. I was excited to see just how everything would turn out and could not put it down.

If you are a fan of YA paranormal romance, I highly recommend this book.
