The Dreamer’s Vengeance by Helen Tyree

This definitely falls into the YA Fantasy category. I’m giving the book four stars because the idea behind the story was original. The author has a way of writing in such detail that the book nearly comes alive. It feels as though you are there experiencing her world. The characters went on an adventure filled with action, betrayal and revenge.

The story had a lot of information to tell from the beginning to the present. I believe this story would have made an excellent three book epic adventure. The first explaining the beginning, the second being Caexia’s story and the third when the curse came to fruition. It would have given readers a chance to connect with the characters and care about them. I found the first half of the book to be heavy and tedious with the information but then the second half picks up with more action. It’s a story filled with a web of lies that keeps you wondering what will happen next.

Proper Impulse (Jaded Lily Book 4) by Zeia Jameson – Review by Kerry Baker

Proper ImpulseProper Impulse by Zeia Jameson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Proper Impulse by Zeia Jameson is the fourth book in the Jaded Lily series. This book can be read as a stand-alone although there are crossover characters.
Milo and Juni are the perfect example of opposites attract. I don’t think I have read about two characters more different from each other and yet so right for each other. Every time they were together there was obvious chemistry.
The story was interesting as well. It was easy to get into and kept my interest right of the end. It fit in with the rest of the series great. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I have done so far with the series as a whole and I hope there is more to come.

5 out of 5 stars

My One Love book two in the brothers of Camelot book written by Necie Navone and it’s a great read I loved it. I have read the prequels and the first book in this series and these book just get better and better.

I have watched Lexy grow into this amazing woman she is a strong capable woman that has overcome so much in her life. She has set up everything so she can fall into Grayson Riggs life after eight years. He is the one man in her life that she has measured every other man against. He is the only one that has made her blood pound and her heart throb with longing.

He is the only One she wished she could have for herself since the day she met him.
Grayson has looked for Aless/Lexy for the last eight years he has gone back to New
York where they met and he has travelled to Italy a few times in hopes he would run into her. He has travelled far and wide he has had many random hookups with beautiful woman but no matter what he does there is only woman that stays with him.
Can they over-come their difference and make their relationship work? Will their Alpha personalities push each other away? Will they be able to celebrate their One Love, or are they destined to be apart forever?
We get to see all the Camelot brothers and glimpses of what they are up to.

This was definitely my favorite of the series which is kind of strange since I’m not a fan of the rockstar career books but this author definitely had me hooked and I would say that it is because I have read the first 2 in the Moore Family Saga and was completely invested, which is why I recommend reading them all in order.

I loved the storyline and that it was when Miles grew up and the addition of Belle into the story and the perfectly placed twists were awesome. I definitely see me reading this series again in the future and can not believe that this author doesn’t have a ton of books as it feels as if she is a seasoned author and I can’t wait to see what is to come.

The story Undercover (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 2) by Via Mari is the next exciting and steamy book in a wonderful series. It pulls you in from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go until the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Marenah and Matt. Marenah is a young woman who is intelligent, independent, and strong. She can hold her own when needed to and cares about others. She finds herself taken and bound. It is then that she meets Matt. Matt is good at security and protecting others. He works for two of the world’s billionaires. He then finds himself in the same room with Marenah. There is an energy and deep attraction between them. She is someone that he believes that he could give his heart to. What does the future hold for Marenah and Matt? Read this book to find out. This story has times when I was turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. There are also steamy scenes included where the attraction is undeniable. I grew to care about Marenah and Matt with every chapter that I read. I wanted them to find happiness. Don’t miss out on a story that will have you on the edge of your seat and also have you swooning. I highly recommend it.

The story Proper Impulse (Jaded Lily Book 4) by Zeia Jameson is a contemporary romance book. It grabbed my attention from the very beginning and didn’t let go until I had read the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Milo Cipriani and Juniper Jensen. Milo is a police officer who does everything by the book. He doesn’t see any reason for blurred lines. Then he meets Juniper. Juniper is a woman who is strong, kind, compassionate, and independent. She helps those in need even if what she is doing is not exactly legal. Then she meets Milo. There is an attraction between them. They can’t stop thinking about each other. What does the future hold for Juniper and Milo? Will they take a chance with each other? Read this book to find out. The story is romantic and emotional. I found my emotions going up and down with the characters. I grew to care about Milo and Juniper with each chapter that I read. You can’t help but want them to be happy. There are additional characters introduced and I enjoyed reading about their interactions with Milo and Juniper. Don’t miss out on a wonderful story with amazing characters. I highly recommend reading this book.

There are few characters who snag my heart quite like Luca. What a heart throb he his. While this book can be read as a standalone, I am a big supporter of reading a series in book order, in the way the author wrote the stories for you to get the most out of the books/series.

Luca is a character we see from the first book, Proper Irish, and I was so excited to see his story. Luca is a typical artist, a tattoo artist. He is all about his art, the purity of his art and the way Jameson describes the art to the reader brings them to life. I can practically see the art and imagine the fine lines and details. He is also a broken man. He is recovering from having his heart smashed and he hides behind a sordid expression.

Kerry is a beautiful soul. From the outside, she seems to have lived a charmed life and anyone of us would be jealous of, but she has a huge chip on her shoulder from her gilded life.

These two clash in an explosion of passion, attitude, and emotions. This book is a perfect extension to Proper Irish and is a beautiful insight into the lives of Luca and Kerry. I loved getting to know them and watching their relationship built and crest.

Jameson is a fantastic author. She builds and weaves a story and bridges both character and reader. She creates a masterpiece that draws you in a keeps you. You don’t even realize you are holding your breath. Highly Recommended!

Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana – Review by Naomi McDonald

Orion's KissOrion’s Kiss by Claire Luana
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The premise of this story attracted me to it and I’d say overall it is a great read. It is a standalone story so you don’t have to worry about any cliffhangers, which is always nice.

I love mythology (and Orion is my favorite constellation) so I was very interested to see how the author wove the tale of the Pleiades sisters and Orion. Orion’s Kiss kept me intrigued throughout the entire story. It did not disappoint.

Even with the overall story being fabulous, I think there would have been more believability if the main character, Merope/Meriah would have been slightly older, HS Senior or even college Freshman. But I guess if you’ve been reincarnated over and over, you probably have a better grasp on reality at a younger age. Regardless, the story is still a definite must read! Great characters and plot development, a bit of dark and a bit of sweetness.

Pour yourself some tea and prepare for a reading adventure. ?

I have really enjoyed reading this story! It’s So So Good! This isn’t my first book by this author but I think it’s her best. She really was able to keep my interest through the whole story. Her characters were lively and I really just wanted to know who would Sidney end up with. The shift between each characters storytelling was so seamless! The best I have seen in awhile. I loved reading this from everyone’s POV.

Each of the main characters brought something to the story. The haughtiness, the best friend and the scoundrel all were great. The inquisitiveness of Sidney was perfect for her role as well. Her girl friend was a lovely addition as well. She is stout and ready for anything that Sidney would suggest. I’m sure something happened with Sophie at the brothel and I look forward to finding out in her book. I’m not sure if the male character will be able to be redeemed but I am sure this author will give it a good try.

This is a wonderful historical romance where the female lead is looking to change a few things about the women in her period. Does she succeed? I can’t say but it was terribly enjoyable finding out.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood Relations is the followup to The Last Dance by Lonna Enox. I loved the book, but found it pretty complex. There is a lot going on, and you aren’t quite sure how it all fits together. After finishing it, I almost need to read it again to understand how it all works together. I love how well Enox write mysteries. You truly don’t know how everything is tied together or will end until the very end. The book didn’t end the way I wanted it to, but it still was very good! The end made me tear up a bit, as its very sweet. The main characters Sorrel and Reed have a love hate relationship and I love seeing their relationship grow. This could probably be read as a stand alone, but I don’t recommend skipping the first book. The characters and setting and whole dynamic is laid out in the first book. Highly recommend both to anyone who loves a good mystery without the gore.

****
BLOOD RELATIONS is the second book in the Sorrel Janes’ cozy mystery series. The author does an amazing job of filling in any blank spots through the use of storytelling and flashbacks.

The writing is dynamic and I was fully engaged in the story from beginning to end. There were times that I got bogged down by too much description, but when that sentence or paragraph finished up, I had a beautiful vision or what was actually going on.

This is one of those series that has a timeless storyline and could go on for many more books. I will be reading them all.

I recommend the book and the series.

Blood RelationsBlood Relations by Lonna Enox
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Blood Relations by Lonna Enox is the second book of the series following The Last Dance. This book is a suspenseful mystery.

Sorrel is so strong and independent. She very much embodies a strong lead character. She has planned to meet her friend John and a predetermined meeting location. However, when he doesn’t show up she worries. It feels like something is wrong. Chris helps Sorrel investigate John’s disappearance. She knows he has feelings for her and she thinks she feels the same but is overly cautious with her feelings. While Chris and Sorrel search for John, strange things keep happening but they can’t turn away. Will they find out what happened to John? Will they get to explore their feelings for each other?

This book really pulls the reader in and you get so sucked in you can’t wait to find out what happens. I absolutely recommend this book.

My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tails Always Wins (Chasing Tails Book 1) by C.A. King was an original fast pace, thrilling read, that had me hooked from start to finish.

Wow, let’s just say I had this book read in one sitting, and I’m sitting here wanting, no needing more. I loved this different take on shifters and humans. It was quite remarkable and like I said, I was hooked! The detail and story telling was rich and methodical, it pulled you in, and it not only made you feel like you were there, but you felt every emotion and injustice. It was something I tell you, it’s something you have to experience for your self. I loved both MC’s and the split POV, it added a that extra something that rounded out this story and made it all the more entertaining and connecting. The plot is on point, complex and flows nicely, you can see the direction clearly, and the dark tones, just adds to the layers of magic and wonder.

Overall this book is a solid 5 start + from me, and it gets my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval. I’m looking forward to more books in this series!

Happy Reading

My One Love (The Brothers of Camelot Book 2)My One Love by Necie Navone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My One Love (The Brothers of Camelot Book 2) by Necie Navone is a wonderful addition and one of my favorite series. To better understand the characters in this story I suggest you read My Life prequel trilogy first. I have been waiting to read this book and Necie did not let me down with her story development of the characters and their backstories. The two series coming together is a great merging as it has enhanced both.

Aless met Grayson many years ago and the chemistry and connection has never left them, leaving them to wonder the “what ifs” for many years. Now it is time to see if what they had was real. Has her life really changed or is she still the self entitled “Princess” she supposedly left behind. The only problem I have is that I wanted to shake the “Princess” for her opinion of herself most of the way through the story but she redeemed herself towards the ending.

Grayson has always hoped that he would find the one who left a lasting impression on him, even when he was warned away. When a surprising event takes place at the club he can barely hope that his dreams have been answered. When he learns the truth will he walk away or will he hang on with everything he has?

This is a wonderful love story and merging of two series. It is also full of drama and suspense, mystery and action.

The Trouble with Paradise is already the fourth book in Cynthia Hamilton’s Madeline Dawkins’ series! I love how Madeline’s character has evolved over the series and her sidekick Mike … their friendship, the way they work together to solve the cases, how they wade through twists and turns … This time we have TWO cases, two widows with obviously two dead husbands … are their deaths how they seem on the surface or is there something else, more sinister, going on beneath … the writer keeps us at the edge of our seats and biting our finger nails … will Madeline and Mike find the secrets the men had on time?
This is one brilliant series and I cannot wait to see what Madeline and Mike will investigate next!

A Divided MindA Divided Mind by M. Billiter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Divided Mind by M. Billiter is a fictional story but written from experience. It is well  written and absolutely nothing like I expected. It is a realistic look at a mental disorder  and the struggles that each one affected by it goes through. It is both sad and  frustrating and I went through so many emotions reading it. How do you help someone  with a mental illness? Having experienced a mental health problem myself, and  watching a work friend go through this exact same situation with her son who has just  been diagnosed with schizophrenia, that is a hard question to answer. Mary did a good  job of but at times I wanted to smack the mother, she frustrated me no end at times but  I also understand her point of view. It is told in several POV which gave us a greater  insight into their states of mind.

Tara is a mother who is trying to help her son and come to understand what he is going  through as they travel the diagnosis of being schizophrenic.

Branson is trying to adjust to a life that is filled with the unknown, and not knowing  what is real and what is not.

Well done Mary and Kyle for sharing this with us. This is an emotional and at times  difficult story but one that should be read.

A Divided MindA Divided Mind by M. Billiter

I am not even sure what I want to write about this story. I thought it was going to be a mystery/suspense for some reason. It’s more about coming to terms with mental illness. This is on the heavy side because it’s a teen. So we learn a bit on how he deals with it as well as how his family learns about it and how they deal with it. At the beginning it seemed very confusing. I read the first couple chapters more than once. Trying to figure out whom was actually talking. It said at the beginning of the chapters who it was about but it was misleading in the chapter. I think the author tried to add some trickery at the end as well but it seemed to again confuse me. Anyway this is story is insightful and horrid at the same time. The author did a good job showing the reader both. I was happy at the ending but the Epilogue just threw me for a loop. Now I don’t know what to think.

This isn’t my first book by this author. I enjoy her storytelling and her characters always seem so life-like. The book read choppy for me at first but then smoothed out.

This is an interesting story. I enjoyed reading it and getting to know Brody and Tails. They met under precarious circumstances. Each thought they were doing the right thing. But evil is afoot and once they are aware of it will they change their path?
This story drew me in at the beginning and held on til the end. Some shocking things happen when the evil rises. I liked Brody for his no nonsense attitude. I think he was working himself into a pickle just because of the bogus laws being put Into place. Luckily Tails showed up to lead him astray…..or away.

I do want to make mention of the amazing cover! Very Cool looking!

Unchained Memory by Donna S. Frelick is the first book in the Interstellar Rescue series. This book is a great mystery that will have you hooked from page on.
This is such a well written book. It is interesting from the word go. You are drawn into the story so easily. The characters are strong and engaging. You want to find out more about them. You want to get to know them that bit more. And the writing is amazing. The authors attention to detail is fantastic. She really knows when to add in the detail and when to withhold it for the development of the story.
Once I had started this story I found that I couldn’t put it down. Thankfully I had the afternoon free to read as I’m not sure what I would have done if I had to walk away for even a short time. My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Divided Mind by Mary Billiter is a fantastic story about a teenager struggling with mental illness and learning how to cope with it.
This book is not at all what I was expecting. When I first started reading it I thought it was going to be more of a mystery/thriller type book. When I realised what the story was actually about it intrigued me more. While a lot of books tend to touch on this subject it always seems to be very briefly, and in a minor character. The way the author tries to delve into the mind of someone suffering in this way should be applauded.
The story takes you on such a journey as not just Branson tries to figure everything out but so do his family. You could feel how much emotion and thought was put into the book. This was a brilliant read and one that has definitely left me thinking afterwads.

My One Love is the second book in the Brothers of Camelot series by Necie Navone. I was so excited to find this new instalment in the Brothers of Camelot series had been released, I had been waiting to continue the story and absolutely LOVED the previous books. I fell in love with the characters, their stories, and Ms. Navone’s writing style. I have a bit of an addiction to her books and am happy I have had another ‘fix’.
Ms. Navone is a masterful storyteller, weaving a superb story that not only plucked at my heart strings and held me captive the whole way through- but she also managed to create characters who really took on a life of their own and who had me completely invested in them and their story, too. Lexy (Aless) and Grayson had me rooting for them right from the beginning of their story- such a wonderful romance, full of emotion, and plenty of ‘sparks’. I adore them both- they really are wonderful characters.
This book is every bit as good as I hoped it would be- keeping me glued to the pages to discover what was happening. I read it in one sitting and loved every word.
Can’t wait for more from the Brothers of Camelot!!!

Brilliant!

Thank you, Ms Navone!

Blood Relations (The Sorrel Janes Mysteries) by Lonna Enox was an excellent mystery novel. I loved how this book began with Sorrel pursuing her love of photography by visiting a wildlife refuge. Trouble always seems to follow her though. I loved that Reed was still a huge part of the story. I love Reed and Sorrel together. I also like that they are able to put their issues aside at times to focus on the task at hand, such as Sorrel’s friend John. This book was full of excitement and mystery. I love how this author always pulls me in and that her storyline is easy to follow. She is also descriptive with her settings and provides excellent character development. I highly recommend this book and the series!
