My school life was spent in a girls’ boarding-school specialising in classical ballet and on leaving I danced professionally, touring Europe, for 4 years. After that I ran my own ballet school in Athens, Greece and simultaneously volunteered as a veterinary nurse, as my love of animals is the driving force in my life. I returned to England with my horse and my cat, and now live on a smallholding in Shropshire with various farm animals and a constant stream of pets.

I started writing while in Greece and completed a Creative Writing Course with the Writers’ Bureau. The same year, I won an annual competition in the Writing Magazine for an adult Fairy Story.

On my return to England, I wrote two children’s books, but my new life, caring for Highland Cattle, sheep, hens and pets, coupled with extensive global travel, meant that writing for publication took a back seat. I continued my love of writing with a daily journal and amusing travel blogs of each trip.

I am now writing full time and working on two series: TALLY AND THE ANGEL and THE AMBERWOOD HALL BALLET SCHOOL.

My first published novel, THE GRACEFUL GHOST, part of the Amberwood Hall Series, draws on my own experiences in ballet-boarding-school and my early teenage life and is a story that has lived with me for many years. It was shortlisted for the UK Selfies Award 2021.

The Colors of Friendship (The Colors Trilogy Book 1) by K.R. Raye – Review by Angela Hayes

The Colors of Friendship (Colors Trilogy, #1)The Colors of Friendship by K.R. Raye
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3 Stars

The Colors of Friendship is the first book in the Colors Trilogy by K.R. Raye. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Reye, so I really didn’t know what to expect going into this book. But, who could resist such a pretty cover, and the blurb did intrigue me- so I grabbed a copy and started to explore.
What I found was a NA contemporary story with themes of friendship, romance, suspense, college life, challenges, lessons, emotion, and abuse. Some themes could be considered triggers by some readers- so be warned (abuse/ domestic violence).
While the story is fairly interesting- I felt it was very slow to get going, and lagged and dragged a lot through the book. This made it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story as I kept being ‘pulled out’ of the storyline. And because I wasn’t fully immersed in the story, I became easily distracted, which I think affected my ability to fully connect with the characters and invest in them and the outcome of their story.
I really did want to love this book so much more than I did, but I as this is the author’s debut novel (she has written 2 more since then) and the first book in a trilogy, I will wait to read the other two books to see if the issues I had here were just a one-off thing or not, and where the story goes from here.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, K.R. Raye!

Jake the Growling Dog Shares His TrailJake the Growling Dog Shares His Trail by Samantha Shannon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I highly recommend this book. Once again we meet Jake the growling dog, this time he is exploring his own backyard and comes across some strange footprints which make him a little scared because something strange is on his turf. Jake and his friends went out together to find out what was going on in their neighborhood. What they found was another dog who only had 3 legs. The moral was that it took them a minute to even notice that the dog only had 3 legs because they were so impressed by his ability and they had not even noticed the lack of a leg. Once again the author includes life lessons for the kids to help them grow.

Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy Daycare (Jake the Growling Dog Book 2) by Samantha Shannon – Review by Cindy Rushin

Another excellent book about Jake the growling dog. In this book, Jake is thrown into something new, he has to go to daycare. Going into a new experience can be terrifying, but with help from his friends Jake learns that new experiences are not necessarily bad. The author again provided some helpful tips that will help anyone to cope with going into new experiences and cope with the changes. I highly recommend this book to parents for the kids.

This is a really cute children’s book. This is the first book in a series about Jake the lovable dog who growls all the time. The growling can make others feel like Jake is mad or sad, but that’s not the case. Jake is a very happy dog who just happens to growl. The author includes in the book activities for kids to reinforce the lesson from the book. This is an excellent book and I highly recommend it to parents for your kids.

This was a thrilling 5 star read. I was pulled right in from the beginning. The author does a great job with her writing and feels like you are right there with the characters. We continue with Donovan and Shirley’s story. This time they have to protect their family at all costs from the coalition…will they succeed?

Love is What You Bake of it (The Meraki Series #1)Love is What You Bake of it by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a start to the series! When I came across the book initially, I was drawn to it for the name, which I found unique yet intriguing. The book was the exact same way in my eyes. The author did a great job at making relatable characters through Kally and Max, and the love story between the two of them is one of the cutest I’ve seen. I related to Kally a lot, also feeling that I was not worthy of love at some point in my life, but just like me, I love watching her discover that she is after meeting Max and then deciding if he was worth the trouble or not. Even though Max wasn’t the most unique character I’ve read in a romance novel, there were small things about him that I fell in love with, making it easy to understand the feelings that she has for him. I also love the small mystery twist to the novel, surrounding her family and specifically her grandfathers death, it definitely helped me in finishing the book quickly. I’m so glad I read the book, and am excited to read the next one in the series.

This book is a story of three interwoven romances, all three leading to a book store. There is a sweet bookshop owned by a match maker Leona, who tries to bring couples together. Leona first brings two lovers together by deliberately making a Christmas eve package mix up. That entails in the pair spending the Christmas holiday together and finding love. The second time, she succeeds in rekindling the love in a divorced couple. In the journey, she finds love herself with a handyman who comes to repair her book shop. The book can easily pass off as a hallmark romance movie, and gives happy vibes. With clean romance and small town feel, it is a very pleasant read. I enjoyed the book.

Devil's BreathDevil’s Breath by Lang Johnson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First off, I highly recommend you just jump right into this book. Do not ready any reviews….you don’t want anything given away. This book had me on the edge of my seat ’til the very end….I had no idea which way it would go.

I’m going to try to do this review justice without giving too much away. Sera is a great FMC. She works hard, knows what she wants, and is good at what she does. As a hired assassin, she usually has no problem with the follow-through…until him! Cassius is a wise and kind-hearted man. However, he feels something is amiss with his meeting of Sera…he just needs to figure out what it is. These two have amazing banter, some H-O-T scenes, and the gamut of emotions (lust, love, hate, betrayal….you get the picture). However, at the end of the day, Sera must decide if she will follow orders or her heart? And how will Cassius deal with the fact that someone close to him has betrayed him?

This book was one of the best books I have read this year! It is filled with the kind of back and forth that kept me turning the pages until the very end!! It has been a while since I have been so enthralled with a book that I did not notice the passage of time….I just sat and read from beginning to end!

Set in the 1860’s…. coming off of a long journey on a boat are women “brides” from Australia looking to make their way in British Columbia. All of the women turn to Alyssa when things get complex as a hotel owner ends up dead…something wrong with the gold that is being stored….and to top everything off an epidemic and a killer is on the loose! Twists and turns along the way, a little love interest…. I also love how all the women look up to Alyssa and are hopeful she can find the killer before it is to late.

What an enjoyable read!! Highly recommended!

this book explores many social situations kids may run into including those thay may look or do things differently than they do. It explores expressing feelings opening up to friends and facing fear, big emotions for little kids!
The wording is age appropriate and the illustrations are beautifully done and my daughter loved them and pointed happily at many. Great book for kids!

Burned by Fire (Firehouse 13 Book 4) by Danielle Jacks – Review by Skylar Daniels

Burned by Fire (Firehouse 13, #4)Burned by Fire by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book that I have read from this author and i was not disappointed. This book is the fourth book in the Firehouse 13 series. But don’t not let that stop you from picking it up and reading. This story is absolutely amazing, and it suck you in, so you aren’t able put it down long enough to do your daily tasks. Even if you haven’t read the rest of the series yet, this book can be read as a standalone but i recommend reading the other books also, so you’ll understand everything a little better. This book brought out a lot of different feelings inside of me including loss, love, and comfort. This book does a great job of shining a light on mental health and how it can affect the relationships you hold.

Each character has their own unique qualities. Sol, a retired firefighter, holds onto his injury and lets it affect every part of his life. Where Ember, a rookie firefighter, takes life by the horns and works hard in her career. The two of them together create sparks that could very easily start a fire.

I can’t wait to read the other books in the series and other books from the author in the near future.

Jake the Growling Dog Shares His Trail (Jake the Growling Dog Book 3) by Samantha Shannon – Review by Jennie M Bechtel

Jake the Growling Dog Shares His TrailJake the Growling Dog Shares His Trail by Samantha Shannon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jake the Growling Dog is back for a new adventure. This time, he and his friends have a mystery to solve on Jake’s trail. They work together and discover the answer to the mystery. I love this book! The characters are cute and friendly. They’re sure to keep the interest of elementary age children. Even though I’ve never read the previous books about Jake, I enjoyed reading this one. The back of the book features guides for how to help kids overcome fears and tips for meeting new friends. It also has activities for kids. I feel these activities and guides add to the value of this book and are useful parenting tools. I recommend this book for parents and grandparents as well as elementary age readers.

Vive la Resistance (Donovan Trait Book 3) by Seelie Kay – Review by Skylar Daniels

Vive la ResistanceVive la Resistance by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have quickly fallen in love with this series, and it has also become one of my goes To’s. I have let all of my friends and family know about this series. I loved the first two books in the series, and this one was certainly no different. I loved the story development as well as the character development between the first two books and this one. As always, the author crafted together a wonderful engaging story, with everything I love about their writing. I was not able to put this book down until I finished it from beginning to end. The author knows how to capture a reader’s attention and transport them into the story. I love books where I can see and feel everything the characters are, feel like I’m right next to the character, and they did just that. It’s a rare skill to do and not many authors have the ability. I will definitely be reading more of their books in the future.

Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! (Donovan Trait Book 2) by Seelie Kay – Review by Skylar Daniels

Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! (Donovan Trait Book 2)Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Donovan Trait series by Seelie Kay and is just as intriguing as the first book. Seelie Kay sprinkled a little more intensity over this book but made sure to throw in some light-hearted humor to break up the tension. This book is a fun paranormal romantic suspense, with vampires, lawyers, vampire politics and law, agendas, uncovering the truth, and more. And as with the first book, Ye Gods! has an original take on vampire lore.
If you loved the first book, then you really will want to grab a copy and dive in. If you have yet to read ‘First, We Kill All the Lawyers’, then I highly recommend that you do before starting on this story. There is important backstory, character details, and key information contained in Book One, which will definitely enhance your reading experience of this book.
I’m excited to continue on reading this series in the near future.

First, We Kill All the Lawyers (Donovan Trait Series) by Seelie Kay – Review by Skylar Daniels

First, We Kill All the Lawyers (Donovan Trait Book 1)First, We Kill All the Lawyers by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book that i have read from the author and I loved every minute of it. I was not able tp put the book down, i had to finish it all in one sitting. First, We Kill All the Lawyers is the first book in the Donovan Trait series by Seelie Kay and it really was an amazing read. This is a paranormal romantic suspense, a great murder mystery with vampires, lawyers, crime and investigation, a serial killer, hidden agendas, revenge, shifters, politics, and all woven with a very original take on vampire lore.
Donovan Trait is a highly respected lawyer- a superstar in courtroom circles, but there is more to him than meets the eye. For one, he’s a vampire who’s over 300 years old. The bodies are piling up, with no idea who could be targeted next. Donovan will need to do something to draw out the killer, especially if he is to protect those he cares about. What ensues makes for a gripping and suspenseful read. Add in the intriguing vampire lore details, the other paranormal elements, and a sweet romance I was hooked.
The ending leaves an opening for more. I can’t wait to see what the author has instore for this series.
