The Frontman by Lawrence Parlier – Review by Karyn Taylor

The FrontmanThe Frontman by Lawrence Parlier
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Frontman is a great crime thriller by Lawrence Parlier. This is an author I had never read before so was very unsure what to expect from this book. What I got was a great thriller with a fantastic story line that kept me gripped from beginning to end.
Following the death of music legend Kerry Vance, some of his friends and family are far from convinced that he died of a heroin overdose as the media are saying and embark on a literal journey to discover how he really died and to give him the send-off that he really wanted.
There is quite a large cast of characters who play a large role in this book and I have to admit to getting confused a few times as just to who each person was. There are 2 main characters, in my opinion, both of whom are fantastic characters and are probably my favourite characters in the book and those are Avery and Calliope.
Calliope is such a strange character but she takes absolutely no crap from anyone and is one of the feistiest women I’ve ever read. I adored reading about her.
This is a crime thriller with a difference. Although you find out the truth about Kerry’s death long before the end of the book, the story is far from over and the remainder of this story is so far from what I would have expected.
I may not have read this author before, I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to read them again. A great read.

St. Nick’s Christmas Wish (Holiday Hunks Book 7 – Hot Hunks-Steamy Romance Collection Book) by Tamara Ferguson – Review by Karyn Taylor

Holiday Hunks-St. Nick's Christmas Wish (Hot Hunks Steamy Romance Collection Book 7)Holiday Hunks-St. Nick’s Christmas Wish by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

St Nick’s Christmas Wish is the 7th book in the Hot Hunks Steamy Romance Collection. It is written by Tamara Ferguson who has become a favourite of mine in recent months since I discovered her wounded warriors series. When I started to read this book I had no idea that it was linked to this series and this was a very pleasant surprise.
I really enjoyed this book, the characters are fantastic and the storyline really grabs you and keeps you wanting to keep going and see what happens next. As well as the romance between main characters Nick and Emma there is an intriguing storyline regarding Nick’s childhood running along at the same time.
As well as Nick and Emma, there is a great cast of secondary characters, in Nick and Emma’s friends who I’m sure may become the main characters in future books by Tamara Ferguson. With the insights we got into these other characters, I am looking forward to reading more about them.
I also really enjoyed the crossover with the wounded warrior books and getting to revisit some favourite characters again.

Being Lost (Satan’s Devils MC San Diego #1) by Manda Mellett – Review by Karyn Taylor

Being Lost (Satan's Devils MC San Diego #1)Being Lost by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Being Lost is the first book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series by Manda Mellett. I’m a huge fan of Manda Mellett having read several of the Satan’s Devils Arizona books and all of the Colorado ones. I have to say that I was a bit apprehensive of a new series as I’d grown to love the guys in the other series’ and was worried about getting another new bunch to get to know. This was just me being stupid as I should have known that Manda Mellett would not let me down.
I loved that she used links to the other 2 chapters from the very beginning to make you feel right at home straight away without feeling overwhelmed with all the new characters.
Being 1 short of the Big dreaded 5 0, I loved that Being Lost’s story centred around a couple in their early 50’s. It’s such a welcome change to read about an older couple who don’t have perfect bodies. They have a few extra pounds here and there and a few grey hairs and wrinkles but still have a very sexy storyline. There is hope for me yet!! Lol.
As with other Satan’s Devil’s book there is a great storyline running along with the romance of the main couple involved. The storyline in this book was thrilling and dangerous and a carefully worked out plot. I’m in awe of how Manda Mellett writes these amazing stories. I just can’t get enough of the Satan’s Devils.

TWO HEARTS UNSPOKEN TARGETS (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 11) by Tamara Ferguson – Review by Karyn Taylor

TWO HEARTS UNSPOKEN TARGETS (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 11)TWO HEARTS UNSPOKEN TARGETS by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Two Hearts Unspoken Targets is the 11th book in the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Series. Each book is written as a standalone. I have now read several of the books in this series and the more I read, the more I grow to love this series and Tamara Ferguson’s writing.
This series is set around the wounded warrior training camp where those wounded on the military come to train and get back to fitness. I love that the author has heroes and heroines who are disfigured, amputees and have other debilitating conditions due to their life of service. I love that she shows how these people suffer from so much self doubt about their ability to be loved and writes the most beautiful heart wrenching Happily ever afters for them.
This book is not different in that it contains Zach Logan who has horrific scarring after being in a plane which had burst into flames. At the wounded warrior camp he meets Beth whose 20 year old son Kyle is autistic and will be working with Zach. Beth and Zach’s story is beautiful. Zach is worried about how any woman could possible look at his scarred body and Beth is too busy looking after Kyle to consider a relationship for herself.
I loved these characters and love to see how Tamara Ferguson creates an amazing storyline to bring them to life. I was hooked from the very beginning of this book and did not want to put it down.

Wrapped Up In You by Erin Bevan – Review by Karyn Taylor

Wrapped Up In YouWrapped Up In You by Erin Bevan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wrapped Up In You is a super sweet Christmas romance novel, set in the North Pole by Erin Bevan. This is a must read if you are a firm believer in Santa and his elves. If you no longer believe then I’m sure this book will change your mind because Santa has a large role to play in this book.
Jenny Claus has to pick a husband from 30 suitors. The chosen one will become her husband and also become King and more importantly Santa. But who should she chose. She must choose wisely. The ceremony where her potential suitors are introduced is interrupted as a plane crashes into the toy factory ruining a large amount of the toys that are being prepared for Christmas which is only 3 weeks away. This plane is piloted by the very gorgeous Logan Moss who catches princess Jenny’s eye immediately. Can Jenny pick the right husband and can they make enough new toys to save Christmas?
This is a wonderfully sweet tale about Jenny and the elves fight to save Christmas and also the budding romance between Jenny and Logan. But Logan has lost his memory in the crash. Is he free to marry Jenny or does he have a wife back home?
This has to be one of the sweetest books I have ever read. I absolutely adored this story. The thought and imagination that the author has put into this story is amazing. 100% recommend this book.

Love Comes In The Mourning by Erin Bevan – Review by Karyn Taylor

Love Comes in the MourningLove Comes in the Mourning by Erin Bevan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love Comes In The Mourning is a wonderful romance novel by Erin Bevan. I have read a few books by this author and this one is, by far, my favourite. It needs to come with a ‘tissues required’ warning. I was in tears by the end of the first chapter.
Lesley DeLoach has inherited her aunt’s home Roselyn Manor and intends to turn it into a bed and breakfast. Little does she know how dilapidated the house has become.
John Hambrice is a constructor who is struggling to keep his business afloat after the death of his wife to cancer the year before.
Lesley and John could not be any more different if they tried. Local boy John does not know how to handle feisty city girl Lesley and lets just say that some of their initial encounters are hilarious and highly entertaining.
I adored both Lesley and John. John is struggling with the emotions that Lesley brings out in him. He feels guilt that he has these feelings for another woman after losing his wife. Lesley is trying to come to terms with her divorce from cheating ex-husband Peter.
This is a fantastic romance story. The writer has written a wonderful storyline with amazing characters. You also can’t help but totally fall in love with John’s 2 children.
Be prepared to go through every emotion if you choose to read this book. I would urge anyone considering this book to take the plunge and give it a try.

Be One with Me (Finding Love in Green Springs Book 2) by CA Miconi – Review by Karyn Taylor

Be One with Me (Finding Love in Green Springs, #2)Be One with Me by C.A. Miconi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Be One With Me is the 2nd book in the Finding Love In Green Springs series by C.A. Micone. Each book in this series can be read as a stand-alone. I had not read the first book in this series and did not feel as if I was missing any necessary information.
The book starts with Sally grieving the death of her mother from cancer. A shock confession on her deathbed has Sally reeling from the realisation that the father she always thought was dead was actually still alive. On finding her long lost father, Sally moves to Green Springs to be with her new family. One person she meets here is Nolan, a man who is coming to terms with his own wife’s death from cancer.
Sally and Nolan are total opposites. Sally is from the city, whereas Nolan is a country boy at heart. But they do say that opposites attract. Can the fact that both are coming to terms with the loss of a loved one to cancer bring these two together?
I loved Sally and Nolan’s story. Both are still hurting so much. Sally is also struggling to recover from a brutal attack on her just before she left the city. This book will take you through so many emotions. There’s tears and loss, fun and laughter, drama and a great storyline that will keep you want to keep reading.
I really enjoyed Sally and Nolan’s story and I’m sure many others will enjoy it too.

In Two Hearts Alliance we are introduced to Captains Jeremy and Christine who first work together while Christine is still married. Jeremy can’t help is attraction to her. He is even more enamoured when she saves his life during a dangerous mission. Both meet again after Christine is divorced and they are unable to deny the attraction they have to one another.
This is a beautiful romance story filled with so much angst and drama. I was gripped by this story from the very beginning and the author didn’t let me go as she took me through this rollercoaster of emotions.

New Jerk in Town: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy (Carolina Kisses Book 2) by Sylvie Stewart – Review by Karyn Taylor

New Jerk in Town: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy (Carolina Kisses Book 2)New Jerk in Town: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

New Jerk In Town is the 2nd book in the Carolina Kisses Series. Each book is written as a stand-alone. I had not read the first book in this series and did not feel that I was missing any information from this story. This is a very well written enemies to lovers story that will keep you gripped from the very beginning.
Milo and Jill met as teenagers and their friendship was just blossoming and moving to the romance stage when Milo moved away leaving Jill devastated.
Moving on to the current day and Jill is back in town, broke and with nowhere to live, a far cry from the affluent upbringing of her teens. A chance meeting on her return has Milo offering her a place to live as she’s been staying in a seedy motel in a less than savoury part of town.
I loved Milo and Jill’s characters. Both have very strong personalities and they clash on just about every little detail. The simmering attraction to each other is bubbling under the surface as Jill fights her body’s reaction everytime she’s close to Milo.
This book has a very good, well written storyline centred around Milo’s career in diving and this plays out alongside the romance between the pair. I really liked that this book had a great storyline running through it that kept me entertained and wanting to keep reading to see what happened next and how this story ended.
I recommend this book 100%

Dares & Dice (Spicetopia #5) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Karyn Taylor

Dares & Dice (Spicetopia Book 5)Dares & Dice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dares & Dice is the 5th book in the fantastic Spicetopia series by Phoebe Alexander. I have become a huge fan of Phoebe Alexander’s writing over the last 2 years and have particularly loved the Spicetopia series so far. Having now read this 5th book, I can say that this has been my favourite book in the series so far.
In this book Ty is visiting Spicetopia with a group of friends for his bachelor party and at the same time as Makenna is there for her bachelorette party with her group of friends. When the 2 groups are asked to take part in a trial for a scavenger hunt, they pair off 1 girl with 1 guy. Bride and groom Makenna and Ty are paired together to complete the scavenger hunt.
I absolutely adored this book. The activities that the couples take part in are hilarious in parts. So much thought and creativity must have gone into the writing of the scavenger hunt. This book is particularly fast paced as the pair go from activity to activity.
I loved the sexual tension that builds up between the two of them as they spend more time together in this very sexualized environment. As they spend more time together both realise that they are not happy with the person that they are due to marry and start to imagine what it would be like to be with each other instead.
I love that Phoebe Alexander can write such steamy books with great storylines that really grab your attention. I totally devoured this book in just over 2 hours. Definitely recommend!

The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance by Lucinda Race – Review by Karyn Taylor

The Matchmaker and The MarineThe Matchmaker and The Marine by Lucinda Race
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Matchmaker and The Marine is a fantastic small town romance story by Lucinda Race. I had never read any of this author’s work but was intrigue by the blurb and decided to give it a go. I’m so glad that I took a chance on this book as I loved the story and the characters so much.
Melinda moved to the small town a few year back to start a new life for herself after the death of her beloved husband. She has set up a matchmaking company and has had a great deal of success in setting up local couples. At the wedding of one such couple she meets retired marine Adam who has recently moved to the town. When Adam hires Melinda to help find him some romance he soon realises that Melinda herself is the woman that he’s attracted to.
As much as she loves setting up other couples, Melinda has no desire to find herself another man. She had her one true love with her husband. But she can’t help how her body reacts around Adam.
I loved this story so much. The growing attraction between Adam and Melinda is lovely to read. You just can’t help but hope that the dates she sets him up with go badly as Melinda is perfect for him. There’s a good deal of angst throughout this book but that is something that I really enjoy reading. These 2 characters are perfect for each other but will a huge secret that Adam is hiding tear them apart when Melinda finds out? I urge anyone who is considering this book to give it a go as I think it’s a wonderful book.

Another Yesterday (Seashells and Second Chances Collection Book 2) by Angela Christina Archer – Review by Karyn Taylor

Another Yesterday (Seashells and Second Chances Collection Book 2)Another Yesterday by Angela Christina Archer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another Yesterday is the 2nd book in the Seashells and Second Chances Collection by Angela Christina Archer. This is a series where the lead women are overcoming hardships and are looking for a second chance. Each of the books in this series can be read as a stand-alone. This was the first time I had read any of this author’s work. I was taken in by the blurb and decided to give it a chance. I’m so glad that I took a chance on this book as I thoroughly enjoyed it.
In Another Yesterday we get 2 different tales, one of the mother Maggie and the other, her daughter Rachel. This is a very emotional book that will pull you in from the very beginning and will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions and not let you go until the very end.
I absolutely loved both women’s stories. The author has created 2 amazing characters and you can’t help but be totally drawn in and moved by their stories. Both women have bad experiences the first time they fall in love but fight on and face a second chance at finding true love. Will the 2 women find true love at the second attempt? I urge you to read this great book and find out for yourself.

Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Karyn Taylor

Girl Trap (Madeline Dawkins #3)Girl Trap by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Girl Trap is the 3rd book in the Madeline Dawkins Series by Cynthia Hamilton. This is a fast paced, thrilling detective series with gripping storylines and great characters. Each book in this series can be read as a stand-alone but I think you’d get a better understanding of Madeline and Mike’s characters and their background.
In Girl Trap, Madeline and Mike are both working on different missing women cases so we get the added bonus of 2 great stories at the same time.
Madeline is looking a Hannah, who has been missing for 10 years. Her mother is dying and wants to reconcile with her estranged daughter before she dies. Well, that’s the story she tells Madeline. What unfolds is a completely different story that has a very unexpected ending that you will not see coming.
At the same time Mike is looking for his cousin Jesse’s missing girlfriend and her sister. I have to say that this particular story had me more gripped than the story Maddie was working on. This storyline leads you into the dark and murky world of woman trafficking.
This book took me a little longer than the first 2 in the series to get gripped by, but once I did, it gripped me hard and I could not put this book down. Cynthia Hamilton sure knows how to write a well thought out thriller that will really have you invested in the story and the characters. The more I read of Madeline and Mike, the ore I come to love and admire that people that they have become. Both have overcome some serious adversity in the years preceding these stories. I can’t wait to see what Cynthia Hamilton has in store next for Maddie and Mike.

Stepbrother (Step Dilemma Series Book 1) by Stacy McWilliams – Review by Karyn Taylor

StepbrotherStepbrother by Stacy McWilliams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stepbrother is the first instalment in the Step Dilemma Series by Stacy McWilliams. I was not aware that this was a continuing series and wanted to scream when I came to the end of this book and saw the dreaded ‘to be continued’. I need to read the next part of this story ASAP.
Bailey’s life is turned upside down when her mother announces her engagement to the very rich Shawn Christie. The good looking boy she’d seen at a school debate, who treated her badly is going to be her stepbrother.
Bailey’s life at her new house and new school is hell. She’s treated as an outcast and her 2 new stepbrothers and stepfather treat her very badly. Even her mum causes her much heartache.
This is a compelling story of the relationship between Bailey and her stepbrother Cooper. There’s a sizzling attraction between the 2 of them but Cooper treats her very badly, telling her that he hates her. Her Stepfather Shawn is convinced that there is something going on between the 2 of them and makes their life hell.
There were so many times during this book that I hated Cooper and wanted to slap some sense into him, then there were moments when I just wanted to give him the biggest hug ever. I felt so sorry for Bailey who didn’t know which way to turn as one minute Cooper was telling her that he loved her and wanted to be with her and then he would be extremely nasty and say that he hated her and wanted nothing to do with her.
Although this story starts when Bailey and Cooper are only 16, it spans many years and ends (leaving you hanging!) when they are 25. I cannot wait to see what is in store next for Bailey and Cooper.

Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 1) by India Kells – Review by Karyn Taylor

Night JusticeNight Justice by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Night Justice is the fantastic first book in the Chicago Vigilantes Series by India Kells. I have been a fan of India Kells’ writing for the last couple of years and was excited that she has brought out a new series. As expected I absolutely loved Night Justice. She has certainly got this new series off with an absolute bang!
Orla is an investigative journalist whose latest assignment is to find out about a new drug called Phantom that’s about to sweep across Chicago. At the same time she’s trying to find out information about the vigilante that’s been operating in the area. Little did she know that the 2 investigations would merge into 1 very dangerous assignment for her.
Sam is a vigilante working for Noctem Consulting who is trying to stop the introduction of the drug. After a chance meeting with Orla, when he was meant to be following her, the 2 work together to bring down the team bringing Phantom to their city.
This is a very fact paced romantic thriller that will keep you gripped from beginning to end. I love how India Kells writes a fantastic thriller but also adds some very hot and steamy scenes that will have you needing to fan your face.
I’ve never read an India Kells book that I haven’t loved and I can’t wait to read more from this series. It has all the markings of being another cracker! Night Justice is a MUST read.

Forgotten Chance: Book Three (The Forgotten Trilogy) by Virginia Wine – Review by Karyn Taylor

Forgotten Chance: Book Three (Forgotten Trilogy)Forgotten Chance: Book Three by Virginia Wine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Forgotten Chance is the thrilling final instalment in the Forgotten Trilogy by Virginia Wine. I have been gripped by Bryer and Nathan’s story so far and was excited to see how their story concluded. Virginia Wine truly saved the best till last. I absolutely loved this third and final book in the series.
Nathan and Bryer have declared their love for each other and are now planning their wedding. As devoted as they are to each other, Bryer’s ex Cash is determined to split the couple up. As the book progresses we learn that there’s more to it than just wanting Bryer back.
This book will take you on a twisting and turning journey with many surprises along the way that you are not expecting. It’s fast paced and full of drama and will keep you gripped.
I also loved that we get more of the love/hate relationship between Bryer’s best friend Gen and Nathan’s best friend Clayton. The interactions between them added a great comedy element to the books.
Added to that, the addition of a few characters from Virginia Wine’s Surviving Series was an added bonus. These were the books that first introduced me to this author and it was great to see them again.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and the series as a whole and would 100% recommend it.

Deleted by Ruth Mitchell – Review by Karyn Taylor

DeletedDeleted by Ruth Mitchell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Deleted is a great science fiction novel by Ruth Mitchell. This is a genre that I don’t normally read but for some reason was attracted by the blurb. It did take me a little bit to get into the book but that’s just because it’s different from what I’m used to reading. Once I got into the story I was hooked and couldn’t wait to find out how the story panned out.
Set in the 2040’s this book is about being able to read, manipulate and erase people’s memories. It’s very futuristic and if this is the future we face in just over 20 years, I really don’t want to be part of it.
Student Lucy Campbell has a crush on Grad student and wonderkid Marco Han. A chance meeting between them triggers the start of a budding relationship. A relationship that is fraught with danger and adventure. Lucy is being sought out by strange character Nick who we know very little about. She’s sure he wants to erase her memories.
Lucy and Marco along with members of both their families take the reader on a great adventure that will have you on the edge of your seat at times. Once hooked, I did not want to put this book down, even taking it to work to read on my lunchbreak.
If you’ve never given science fiction a go, this would be a great place to start.

Designing Love (The Calderone Family Romance Series Book 3) by Victoria Grant – Review by Karyn Taylor

Designing Love (The Calderone Family Romance Book 3)Designing Love by Victoria Grant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Designing Love is the 3rd book in The Calderone Family Romance Series by Victoria Grant. This series centres around the 4 brothers and 1 sister in the Calderone Family. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone. I didn’t feel that I was missing anything having not read the first 2 books but having enjoyed this one so much, I need to add the first 2 to my ‘to be read’ list.
This book starts with the wedding of the couple from book 2. Bridesmaid Caroline Winters is an architect whose Number One Rule is ‘no relationships’. Best man Charles Calderone makes clear in his speech that he will never be joining the marriage club. Will both be made to have a rethink when Caroline is hired to design a new office building for the Calderone family business and company VP Charles is put in charge of the project.
I have to say that I absolutely loved this book. As much as the attraction simmers between Caroline and Charles, when working together they do not see eye to eye on anything. Caroline is feisty and outspoken and damn good at her job so isn’t scared to tell Charles that she finds some (all) of ideas stupid and does so in front of all the staff. Some of these exchanges are hilarious.
What all this fighting does is build up frustration which they happily burn off in the bedroom. This couple are sizzling in the bedroom.
I adored the camaraderie between the brothers (and sister) and their better halves. The family spirit is amazing between them all.
I can’t wait to read the 2 books that I’ve missed so far and then the rest of this series. 100% recommend.

Not So Far (Love Grows Series Book 3) by Renee Regent – Review by Karyn Taylor

Not So Far (Love Grows series, Book 3)Not So Far by Renee Regent
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Not So Far is the 3rd book in the Love Grows Series by Renee Regent. I had read, and loved, the first 2 books in the series and was looking forward to reading another. Not So Wrong is a great second chance romance with characters that you can’t help but fall in love with.
Audrey Colebank is a recently widowed mother of 3 with a huge secret eating away at her. Silas was the love of her life as a teenager and she was devastated when he left and has never forgiven him. Silas has returned to town after the death of his grandfather and his arrival throws Audrey into turmoil. She hates Silas for what he did to her but her body can’t help but still be attracted to him. Silas also has a huge secret of his own as to why he left.
Will either of them divulge the huge secrets that would cause even more turmoil to the other? Can Silas win back Audrey, the love of his life? Can Audrey put the past behind her and make a future with Silas? I’m not going to answer any of these questions. I urge you to read this great book and get the answers for yourself.
This is a great second chance romance that will pull at your heartstrings and drag you through a range of emotions. 100% recommend.

A High Price to Pay (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 2) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Karyn Taylor

A High Price to Pay (Madeline Dawkins, #2)A High Price to Pay by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A High Price To pay is the 2nd book in the Madeline Dawkins Series by Cynthia Hamilton. This is a great detective series which is thrilling and fast paced.
3 years have passed since we left Madeline and Mike at the end of Spouse Trap. They are now newly qualified as private detectives and Madeline is still working in her role as an event planner. When a huge glamorous event that Madeline is working on becomes a murder enquiry, her and Mike become embroiled in solving the murder.
At the same time one of the thugs who kidnaped Madeline 3 years earlier is back on the scene and Madeline’s life is in danger.
This is a very fast paced, thrilling, suspenseful novel that I was hooked on from the very beginning. As much as I enjoyed Spouse Trap, I thought this book was so much better. I was so engaged in the storyline and couldn’t wait to see how it all panned out.
Cynthia Hamilton sure knows how to write a detective story. The intricate plot is so well thought out and keeps you hooked and you will not want to put this book down.
I can’t wait to read more of Madeline and Mike’s adventures.

Forgotten Promise Book two: The Forgotten Trilogy by Virginia Wine – Review by Karyn Taylor

Forgotten Promise (Forgotten #2)Forgotten Promise by Virginia Wine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Forgotten Promise is the 2nd thrilling instalment in the Forgotten Series by Virginia Wine. Virginia Wine is an author I came to love when reading the Surviving Series and I’m loving this new series just as much as I enjoyed the Surviving Series.
In this second book Nathan and Bryer are together and have declared their love for each other. Life should be perfect the happy couple but Bryer’s ex-fiance Cash is determined to do everything to break up the happy couple and win Bryer back for himself.
When Cash resorts to his usual underhand tactics to cause problems for the couple and then manipulates Bryer to go to his home with him, will Bryer and Nathan’s relationship survive?
I found this book moved at a much faster pace than the first book and also had a more sinister, suspenseful feel to it which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I grew to love the characters of Nathan and Bryer even more as their journey continued and I can’t wait to read the next instalment in this series – Forgotten Chance.

How (Stalker Series Book 3) by Megan Mitcham – Review by Karyn Taylor

How (Stalker Series, 3)How by Megan Mitcham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

How is the 3rd book in the Stalker Series by Megan Mitcham. I have to say that this is my favourite book in the series and that’s high praise indeed as I adored the first two books in the series. Before reading this series I had never read any of Megan Mitcham’s work but this series has definitely gained her a new fan.
This book had me hooked from the very beginning and it kept a very tight grip of me throughout. I was totally engrossed in this story. It was so well written and the story flowed very well, with twists and turns that keep the reader totally gripped.
I have absolutely loved the group of 4 women that this series revolves around and it was great to see what the others are up to and how all their lives intertwine.
This particular book centres around FBI agent Libby Irish and her elusive, very attractive, neighbour who has never uttered a single word to her. As the story progresses we start to see a very different side to the neighbour as Libby’s life becomes more in danger from her stalker.
The author throws a few curveballs at you and really takes you on an amazing journey filled with mystery, danger and intrigue.
I would give this book more than 5 stars if I could. I definitely recommend this book. Infact, I recommend the whole series. It’s one I will read again.

SPOUSE TRAP: Madeline Dawkins Mysteries (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 1) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Karyn Taylor

Spouse Trap (Madeline Dawkins, #1)Spouse Trap by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Spouse Trap is the first book in the Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. It is the first time that I have read any of this author’s work and I this book is anything to go by then I’ll definitely be reading more as I absolutely loved this book.
Spouse Trap is a fantastic mystery novel that grabs you from the very first page and does not let you go until the very end. I was totally hooked on this story and could not put it down.
Madeline Ridley has it all. She has a perfect life in a perfect house with a perfect husband. Or does she? When she wakens up in a strange hotel room with no recollection of how she got there or what happened in the room, her life takes a dramatic turn she could never have envisaged. To make matters worse her husband produces damning photographs of the night in the hotel and demands a divorce.
This book has a fantastic storyline with amazing characters. I just loved Madeline and the way she took control of the situation and did everything she could to get to the bottom of the situation and turn the tables on Steven with the help of a private investigator.
This story builds up towards Madeline becoming a private investigator herself, aided and abetted by long term friend Mike which I am sure we will read much more of in the future books in this series. I for one, can’t wait to read more of Madeline and Mike’s adventures.

Finding Leda; the Science of Happiness (Italian College Novel 1, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B Amman – Review by Karyn Taylor

Finding Leda, the Science of Happiness (The Italian Saga #5)Finding Leda, the Science of Happiness by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finding Leda is a fantastic young adult, coming-of-age story by Gaia B. Amman. Having read the 2 books which told of Leda Balni’s story in high school in 1990’s Italy, it was great to then catch up with Leda a few years later at college. To fully understand Leda and her past I’d suggest you read Forget Nico and Sex-O-S before reading this book.
Having had a hard time at high school, being a bit different from her friends in that she was serious about studying and enjoyed literature, and also suffering from an eating disorder, it was great to see Leda still full of fight and spirit.
I really enjoyed being taken on the journey that is the next few years of Leda’s life, this time at college. Having had poor experiences with men previously, Leda was not looking for love at college and yet she found it in a place she would never have thought. Her adversary from school who she referred to as Evil Centi is at the same university (only he is 2 years ahead) and when he offers to help her with Chemistry, let’s just say that chemistry of a different type starts to flow.
If you enjoy great story with a good deal of angst thrown in then I’m sure you would love to read Leda’s story. I for one look forward to seeing what Leda gets up to next.

Forgotten Truth Trilogy: Book One (The Forgotten Trilogy 1) by Virginia Wine – Review by Karyn Taylor

Forgotten Truth (Forgotten #1)Forgotten Truth by Virginia Wine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Forgotten Truth is the first book in the Forgotten Trilogy by Virginia Wine. I first became a fan of Virginia Wine when I read the Surviving Series so was excited to get the chance to start another series of hers. Having now read Forgotten Truth, I can say that this is going to be a fantastic trilogy that I’m going to want to read again.
This story pulled me in from the very beginning and it still hasn’t let me go. I just NEED to read what comes next. Be prepared to be taken on a rollercoaster journey through this book that will drag out every emotion from you.
Nathaniel (Nathan) James runs a gym with his best friend. He’s known as a bit of a player and he has no plans to settle down with one woman. Bryer Reid is one of Nathan’s clients at the gym and looks forward to her one on one session with him on a Saturday morning, even though he tortures her for that hour. Unknown to the other both have had an eye on each other for some time, so when Bryer invites him out for ice cream he jumps at the chance.
I loved Bryer and Nathan’s story. Both have issues from their past and in this story we get a very deep insight into Nathan’s past. Nathan’s story is heartbreaking and very compelling to read and judging by the way we are left at the of this book, I think we might get much more of Bryer’s story in the 2nd book which I can’t wait to read.

Satan’s Devils MC Boxset Books 1-5 (Satans Devils MC Series) by Manda Mellett – Review by Karyn Taylor

Satan's Devils MC Boxset Books 1-5Satan’s Devils MC Boxset Books 1-5 by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Satan’s Devils MC Boxset 1 Books 1-5: Brothers protecting their own is a box set containing 5 full length novels by Manda Mellett. I discovered Manda Mellett’s Satan’s Devils books at the end of this series, reading books 10-11 and have also read the Colorado Chapter books and have been desperately wanting to read the rest of the books, so was ecstatic when she released the box sets.
In particular, I was excited to read Wraith and Sophie’s story and Drummer and Sam’s. I have to say that I was not disappointed in the slightest. I find it difficult to put Manda Mellett’s books down and this box set was no different to the other of her books that I’ve read. I think that Wraith and Sophie’s story has to be my favourite from this box set. I was always intrigued as to how this English lady in a wheelchair came to be part of this club.
I absolutely adored Sophie in her book and in the others when she’s throwing around some very British sayings. I particularly like the ass versus arse (excuse the language) conversation.
As with all of Manda Mellett’s book I love the camaraderie between the men and how they are one big family. I also love how they treat their woman (not the sweet butts). They worship their women and would do absolutely anything for them.
Although these books are romance novels, all are filled with drama, intrigue and danger. Manda Mellett sure knows how to write a fantastic story that will have you on the edge of your seat and also drag you through every emotion possible. One minute you are laughing your head off and the next, you have tears streaming down your face.
I have the next 2 box sets, containing the rest of this series on my kindle and I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

Sunshine Kisses (A Kisses Novella) by Elaine Marie – Review by Karyn Taylor

Sunshine KissesSunshine Kisses by Elaine Marie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sunshine Kisses is the 2nd book in the Kisses series by Elaine Marie. It’s the first time I had read any of this author’s work. I was really attracted by the blurb and thought that this would be just the type of book that I love. And guess what…I was so right! I devoured this book in one sitting. I just could not put it down. Can I also add that it should maybe have come with a ‘tissues required’ warning. Or maybe I was just being more of a sappy sod than usual when reading it!
Sunshine Kisses is the story of best friends Crystal Brooke and Spencer Larson. Crystal has just had some bad, life threatening news from the doctor so when she goes to be bridesmaid at her other best friend’s wedding she decides it’s time to have a vacation fling. Only she didn’t expect that it would be with her nerdy friend Spencer who has been in love with her for years.
This story made me laugh so much and it made me cry just as much also. Spencer is just the most adorable nerdy friend (I’d love to have a Spencer in my life) and he clearly adores Crystal. Can he convince her that they should be more than just a vacation fling? Can she keep her medical condition from him and the rest of their friends?
I definitely recommend that you read this and see how Crystal and Spencer’s story pans out. I know you will be as swept away on the journey as I was. Be prepared to go on a fantastic rollercoaster journey and go through every emotion possible on the way.

Turn up the Tempo (Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star Series Book 4) by Charli B Rose – Review by Karyn Taylor

Turn up the Tempo (Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star series, #4)Turn up the Tempo by Charli B. Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Turn Up The Tempo is the 4th book in the Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star Series by Charli B. Rose. This book follows on from the awesome Izzy and Dawson trilogy and it was so good to see these guys again although this is not their story.
Bassist in Lyrical Odyssey, Brooks has no desire to be tied down to one woman. Women are for one time only. So why can’t he get Brittany out of his head? Izzy and Dawson’s wedding would be a great chance to see her again as he’s best man and she’s the bridesmaid.
Brittany is Izzy’s best friend and Izzy is determined to see Brittany happy in a relationship. Brittany currently has no job and a man is the last thing she needs, so why does she keep thinking about the night she had with Brooks last year?
I absolutely loved Brittany and Brooks. Their chemistry is off the charts HOT! The sexy times will have you reaching for a fan to cool yourself down. Brooks certainly knows how to sext too, I had fun trying to work out his acronyms.
This was not a simple fall in love story, both characters have so much going on. Britt has no job and a chance meeting at Izzy and Dawson’s wedding could be the start of her chasing her dreams. Brooks has so much going on with his mum’s health but he’s keeping it all secret, leaving Britt wondering where he keeps disappearing to and who the mystery phonecalls are from.
I thoroughly recommend this book to others.

Sex-O-S; The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time (Italian Teens, novel 2, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B Amman – Review by Karyn Taylor

Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time (The Italian Saga, #4)Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sex-O-S is the follow up novel to Forget Nico by Gaia B. Amman. It is a great young adult novel of self-discovery set in Italy in the mid to late 1990’s. I had really enjoyed Forget Nico and was really looking forward to see what was in store next for Nico and Leda.
At 15 Leda has finally got Nico as her boyfriend. After being besotted with him for years she’s now finally his girlfriend so everything should be perfect. But it’s not; Nico wants to take their relationship to the next level and Leda’s not ready for that yet and doesn’t think she will be for a long time.
This is a great story of self-discovery as 15 year old Leda wars with herself in her own head. She loves her boyfriend but doesn’t feel ready to have sex yet. This book takes us through Leda’s journey from age 15 to age 18. It’s not just her sexual discovery that this book focusses on but also Leda’s self-image. We are told that Leda is carrying a bit of extra weight (she regards herself as being fat) and she embarks on a mission to shed some of the extra pounds.
I love that this author has taken these two issues: that of sexual awakening and self-image and tackled them in a fantastic way. I absolutely adore Leda’s character and look forward to reading more of her journey as she moves on to college.

Hawk’s Cry (Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation #2) by Manda Mellett – Review by Karyn Taylor

Hawk's Cry (Satan's Devils MC Second Generation #2)Hawk’s Cry by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book needs to come with a ‘tissues required’ warning. Hawk’s Cry by Manda Mellett tore me apart. I had spells of sobbing, ugly crying. It really hit very close to home. Hawk’s Cry is the 2nd book in the Satan’s Devils MC 2nd Generation. Each book I read by Manda Mellett just gets better and better. I’m totally in love with the Satan’s Devils.
In this book Manda Mellett tackles a very sensitive subject close to my heart; depression. Having suffered from depression for over 20 years and having my lowest spell ever last year I can totally empathise with Hawk and my heart broke for him on so many occasions.
Hawk is the VP of the Satan’s Devils, he’s newly married and has a baby on the way. Everything should be perfect in his life, but it’s far from it. He feels like he’s a failure, like he’s been pushed into everything and hasn’t made any decisions for himself so decides to leave the Satan’s Devils and start life anew as a citizen. Leaving an MC isn’t something you do lightly and there are consequences in doing so.
Does his new life with Pregnant wife Olivia bring him the happiness he wants? No, it definitely does not and it leads him to putting his family in danger. Will the Satan’s Devils help him out? Will he realise that he needs help? I urge anyone and everyone to read this book but please make sure that you have tissues with you as it will tear at your heart. Would give this more than 5 stars if I could!
