At Last (The Adams Brothers BOOK 1) by Mindy McKinley – Review by Katie Matthews

At Last (Adams Brothers, #1)At Last by Mindy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve read a few books this year but not one that has grabbed me like this one. I absolutely loved it! Even after I had finished reading I wanted more, I wanted to go back and start it all over again. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I cannot wait to carry on this series with her. Her writing was superb, it was engaging and the characters were just amazing to read about. The flow of the story meant that it was so easy to read and the pace was perfect. Lula and Dominic – I just loved them. She was sweet and he was hot (and I mean book boyfriend hotness level!!) I adored them together and was rooting for then the whole time! There a few twists in the story which was great, it made it less predictable.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series!! I 100% recommend this book!! A fantastic debut novel!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh I loved this set of Christmas novellas; they were all so lovely and heart-warming to read. Absolutely perfect for curling up with on a cold night! Each story had wonderful main characters that I fell in love with straight away. They were all really well written and perfect for just grabbing as they are so easy to get into. I loved that I could just put it down and pick up again and start a new novella. Although they were novellas they were all crammed full of story, romance, fun times and more! I definitely recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

I LOVED this book so, so much! It was a great read! I really like this author, I’ve read quite a few books of hers and I think she’s doing a fabulous job with writing in multiple genres! I highly recommend her books to everybody! High Heels and Mistletoe was a great holiday read (also my favourite types of read!) I love the setting for the story, I loved the characters, in fact I honestly just loved everything about it! I loved Julietta, she was so much fun to read about and Luke – book boyfriend material right there! I loved the interaction between the two of them, it made for great reading!

The Devil’s Day (The Lucky Devil Series Book 3) by Megan Mackie – Review by Katie Matthews

The Devil's DayThe Devil’s Day by Megan Mackie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another great read from this author. This is the third book in the Lucky Devil series and I would definitely recommend that they are read in order! This for me was a little slow to start but I still really enjoyed it. I really like Rune; she’s a great character to read about. The action in the story definitely picked up in the second half of the story and my attention was definitely grabbed from there on in. The author does have a wonderful attention to detail which is great for me as a reader; it helps me imagine what I’m reading.
Overall a great third book in the series and I look forward to more from this author in the future.

Another enjoyable read from this author. I was quickly swept up into Maggie’s story – I mean she’s a girl after my own heart with her love of Christmas! I thought she was such a wonderful character to read about, I found her to be really likeable and relatable. I loved Trey – the two of them together made me laugh! They certainly were a match and I enjoyed the banter between them!
The story flowed really well and it certainly made me feel all Christmassy after I had finished it. The authors writing was excellent as usual, I am definitely a fan of hers!
Overall a wonderful read and one that I would highly recommend!

Moonlight and Belladonna: A Small Town Halloween Romance (Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson – Review by Katie Matthews

Moonlight and BelladonnaMoonlight and Belladonna by Jae Dawson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was such a lovely read and I have to be honest I haven’t read a Halloween romance before so it was really refreshing! I really loved the storyline and the characters. Belladonna was a really nice character to read about, she had that wholesome girl next door feel about her and she definitely wasn’t in the market for love after her past until Cade – I think he could make anyone seriously think about dating again! He is everything I love in a rock star! I think I fell in love with him straight away.
I loved all the different twists in the story; it was an absolute pleasure to read. It’s one of those books that you wish you could go back and read again for the first time experience the characters and their story again. I think this is probably one of the best books that I have read this year. I think this is a fantastic debit novel for the author!!
I am definitely looking forward to more to come from this series!

The Sanctuary Chronicles Box Set – Book 1-3 + Novella by India Kells – Review by Katie Matthews

The Sanctuary Chronicles Box Set - Book 1-3 + NovellaThe Sanctuary Chronicles Box Set – Book 1-3 + Novella by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a fantastic set of stories – I read books 2,3 and the novella but definitely need to make time to read book 1 – they are brilliant reads!!

Book 2 – Blind Magic
I thought that the story was really unique and interesting to read. My attention was grabbed straight away and was held throughout the book. I liked the characters, I thought that they were thought out and they developed well over the story. I thought that Sera was strong female lead, she strong, independent and knew her limits. I really enjoyed reading about her. Ian was also a really strong character, not as alpha as I was expecting but I liked that about him.
There were some great twists and turns in the story that I definitely didn’t see coming.

Book 3 – Dead Magic
Loved this book!! From beginning to end I was completely captivated by Finn and Violet’s story! The author (who I adore) wove a magical paranormal romance tale of two wonderful characters! There was so much going on in the story that I couldn’t put it down at all and read it in one sitting! The story just flowed easily from page to page – I think this could possibly be one of my favourite books by Ms Kells! I love how Violet and Finn really shouldn’t be together, Violet hates vampires, but there was something there between the two of them that was undeniable! I loved the interaction between the two of them! I did feel for Violet and what happened to her in her past and Finn really wanted to protect her.

Novella – Hidden Magic
Hidden Magic may have been a novella but it was packed full with a wonderful storyline and equally as wonderful characters. I am completely in love with Kat and Brant’s story, it is just so beautifully written. Brant’s determination just showed how much Kat means to him and I was rooting for them the whole way through. I honestly thought that they were so perfect for each other.
The whole story is just so beautifully and richly detailed that at times it is so easy to imagine what I am reading.

Grumbler’s Ride (Satan’s Devils MC San Diego #2) by Manda Mellett – Review by Katie Matthews

Grumbler's Ride (Satan's Devils MC San Diego #2)Grumbler’s Ride by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I never get tired of reading books by this author, I often wonder how she can write so many books and never repeat storylines but she doesn’t. Every character is different and they always have a way of making you fall in love with them straight away. I really liked Grumbler, he was a little more mature than I first thought he was going to be so I really liked that about him, I really liked this connection he had with Mary, they were both great characters to read about. This is the second book in the San Diego chapter of the Satan’s Devil MC and it looks as though it’s going to be a great division to read about.
I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series! This is a highly recommended series.

The Magic of ChristmasThe Magic of Christmas by Christi Barth
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVE a Christmas book! It’s my most favourite time of the year and after everything that’s happened this year I needed a Christmas read to get me in the spirit and this book most definitely did that! The author lovely descriptive language made me so want to visit the setting for this story! I felt all Christmassy after finishing it – my husband wasn’t impressed that I wanted to put the Christmas decorations up!
I loved the plot and the characters, I guess the story was a little predictable but with that wonderful Christmas magic the author sprinkled along the way I wasn’t really bothered. It was a lovely, easy to read story that I was lost in from beginning to end.

Big City Heat: A High-Rise Romance AnthologyBig City Heat: A High-Rise Romance Anthology by Hazel Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fantastic collection of stories from some well-known to me authors and few new ones. I was really excited to see a story from Bree Kraemer – I love her stories and haven’t read one for ages. I loved the variety in the storylines; each one was different but equally as entertaining.
I loved all of the books but the one which I loved the most (and it’s a difficult choice) was one night with a Knight – I adored the main character, I thought that she was really relatable. I also really enjoyed A Hole by Phoebe Alexander – she is absolutely one of my most favourite authors ever.
Overall I really enjoyed this set of short reads, they were all excellent and I highly recommend you one click this set today!

So this amazingly talented author had definitely gone out with a bang! I have really enjoyed this series and am sad that it’s over but what a book to end on! It was a fantastic read and one that I could only really give 4 stars to! It’s not my usual genre but I took a chance and it didn’t take me long to be fully invested in what I was reading and that carried on the whole way through the series. The author has a wonderful attention to detail and this really adds to the enjoyment of the story. The characters have been creative and imaginative and a joy to read about and follow through these 9 books.
I would definitely recommend this story and the whole of this series!!

When I first read the blurb for this book it sounded like something I would enjoy and it absolutely was! It was a fast paced thrilling read and I really enjoyed it. I’ve read a few books by this author previously when they have been included in anthologies and always enjoyed what I read. I loved the main characters, married but so many secrets between them. There was quite a lot of action in the story and I loved trying to guess what was going to happen. I was interested to find out if Tom and Cat’s marriage could survive so many secrets!!
The story is on the shorter side but it definitely was not missing anything at all!! I am definitely looking forward to more to come from this author in the future! A highly recommend read!!

I really like this author; her stories are always a pleasure to read. I find it so easy to get wrapped up in what I’m reading because of her fantastic descriptive language and world building. Super Sorry was a wonderful read full of everything I’ve come to expect from this author. I really liked the main character Sarah; I did feel sorry for her at ties with everything she was trying to navigate in her teenage life. She made me laugh a few times and she was definitely a connectable and likeable character. I can see this story definitely appealing to YA and I think they would enjoy it.
Overall Super Sorry is a well written story that I really enjoyed. As always I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

LOVED this book!! I absolutely adore historical romance and I haven’t found a good one to read for a while so when I came across this I grabbed it and settled down. It had everything I love in a historical romance, romance obviously, but also great characters, wonderful descriptive language, a great setting and great plot. This is also an author who is new to me and I just loved her writing style. I felt like I was right there with the characters, her wonderful detailed writing meant that I was easily able to imagine what I was reading. I love a strong heroine in these kinds of stories and Maggie definitely fulfilled that! She was such a great character to read about.

I have read a few books by this author now so I never hesitate to pick up one when I see them and as soon as I read the synopsis for Kismet Heart I knew I wanted to dive right in. It was as I expected a great read, full of action, emotion and more! The beginning of the story grabbed my attention straight away and it was held the entire way through. I loved Malorie, I really felt for her after everything she went through and she was such a great character to read about – I loved the banter between her and Ace! Love SurreptitiouslyLove Surreptitiously by Tarrah Anders

I really enjoyed this book – who doesn’t love a forbidden romance read! It had humour and it was entertaining throughout. I have read a few books by this author so I knew I would enjoy it! She had a great writing style that captures your interest from the very beginning, she creates great characters and enjoyable plots and Love Surreptitiously definitely ticked all the boxes on that front! I loved the characters, they made me laugh. Especially Sidney bless her! There was a good amount of chemistry between her and Quinlan, their first meeting was funny! It may have been a little predictable what was going to happen but I didn’t care at all, I loved what I was reading. I think maybe because it was a shorter read it felt a little rushed at times but I didn’t really have a huge impact on the story overall and I would definitely recommend it to other readers!

I really enjoyed this story and I think it obvious that the author has personal ties to the story as it’s written with such emotion. It flowed really well and I was completely absorbed in what I was reading. I think at times early on in the story the multiple pov’s and the switching made it a little confusing but once I settled in to the story and got to know the characters I had no problems at all. I really liked all of the characters and following their stories.
I’ve read a few books by this author previously so it was really nice to read something different from her, and I do like real life stories there’s just something extra to them knowing that these things really happened.
Overall a really lovely read and one that I would recommend.

I am a huge fan of historical romance but I’ve not read much historical fiction from this era so when I saw this story I thought I would take a chance and I really enjoyed it. The authors’ writing was really engaging and the time period was actually really intriguing to read about. I love the plot and the characters. I really felt involved in the characters’ lives and throughout the story I really wanted the best for them. Brek’s life was fascinating and there were so many times where my heart broke for him a little – he found such a great connection with Gabriella, their relationship definitely wasn’t the easiest but it was so genuine I desperately wanted it to work out for them.

Tidal Love was a really lovely read by K.M. Lowe, I really enjoyed it. I liked that this was a little different to what I anticipated, it was unpredictable and I was hooked the whole way through. I’ve read books by this author previously so I knew the writing would be good and I wasn’t disappointed. Love on the Ropes was a really nice and enjoyable romantic read by an author I absolutely adore. I’m not sure it’s my favourite book from Ms Vaughn but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved Erin and Clint, they had a great banter between them (albeit they hated each other) and a nice amount of chemistry. I liked Erin from the very start, she was such a relatable character and I really enjoyed getting to know her from the start. Clint made me work a bit harder to get to know him but I liked that, his character developed nicely over the story.

I love how her stories are always different, nothing is every the same. I also really enjoyed Whiskey sour by Jen Talty – I fell in love with this story straight away, Boone was so lovely and I desperately wanted everything to work out for him – there was definitely some chemistry going on in this story. I really enjoyed the second book in the Soppranaturale Series by Ashley Pagano. I don’t usually read this particular genre but I really liked book 1 and the authors writing I felt was really engaging and enjoyable to read. Again I was quickly absorbed into what I was reading; the author’s descriptive language makes for great world building. The characters are very creative and I liked reading about them. I enjoyed following Link and Ommily again in this story, they definitely had some obstacles to face this time – I loved reading about them! The story does have quite a few layers to it which made it more exciting to read, I found myself easily lost in what I was reading!

THAT INCREDIBLE KISS (Kissed By Fate Book 3)THAT INCREDIBLE KISS by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think it’s fair to say I don’t even bother reading the synopsis for the books now by Ms Ferguson, I just grab it and settle down for what I know is going to be a wonderful read and as expected this was just that. I love how even after so many great stories everyone feels so new, nothing is repeated, no storyline is the same and every character is unique but they are always likeable and relatable.
Ashley and Brian’s story was heart-warming to read, a perfect second chance romance. When they reunited after some time apart I could just tell that they were prefect for each other, their connection was sweet and genuine. I was definitely lost in their story and was rooting for them the whole way through.
As always I highly recommend this and any book by this author, I am never disappointed by her writing and would definitely urge people who haven’t picked up on of her many books to do so!!
