Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7) by Shandi Boyes – Review by Katie Matthews

Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7)Trey: European Redemption by Shandi Boyes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It’s been a while since I picked up a book by Ms Boyes so when I saw this one I thought I need my mob fix so I dived right in and wow what a book it was! Not that I expected anything less from one of my favourite authors but this was honestly a fantastic read – action from beginning to end and amazing characters that drag you along for the ride! I think I have to say this book might not be for everybody but I was completely sucked into Trey’s story. Apart from Trey – a love to hate character maybe, I have to say Kristina was one brilliant female lead! She had this strength and confidence about her that I absolutely loved especially considering what she had been through! Trey was a pretty complex character but I loved getting to know him more and I loved the two of them together!
If you’re looking for a darker read then this book will be 100% for you! I loved every second of it and I can’t wait for more!!

Love Song: A friends-to-lovers rock and roll romantic suspense by KG Fletcher – Review by Katie Matthews

Love Song (A friends-to-lovers rock and roll romantic suspense)Love Song by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rock and roll romance – check
Amazing characters – absolutely
Fantastic 5 star read – definitely!!

I loved this book so much, I did hesitate to pick this book up when I saw the author – I love her books and that together with a bit of rock and roll what’s not to love and I was absolutely right! I couldn’t put the book down from the moment that I picked it up. The author really tried hard with the characters especially Casey – I’m not sure if I liked her or not she wasn’t very connectable however it was kind of perfect for her – I think the author actually got her spot on. There were some fantastic twists and turns that absolutely kept me engaged the whole way through – I think this could possibly be my favourite book by this author so far! I really loved Sam – both characters dealing with things but he was just so amazing – I did feel a genuine connection between the two characters in all honesty – it did come across well in my opinion.
I 100% recommend this wonderful 5 star read!!

The Walls Between Us: A Borderland Love Story by Kate McGahan – Review by Katie Matthews

The Walls Between Us: A Borderland Love StoryThe Walls Between Us: A Borderland Love Story by Kate McGahan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I first read the blurb for this story I was really intrigued, the author is new to me and whilst I will admit the cover isn’t one of the best I’ve seen I know not to take any notice of them and I am so glad I did. The story was beautifully written, the descriptive detail throughout was one of my favourite things about this book. I felt like I was really transported into the lives and worlds of these characters. The characters were well throughout and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about them. There was so much going on in the story that I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough to see what was going to happen. Even after finishing the story I was still thinking about what I had read and in my opinions it means that it was a really great read! I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

One Hot Texas Summer (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 1) by Nicole Flockton – Review by Katie Matthews

One Hot Texas Summer (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge, #1)One Hot Texas Summer by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

One Hot Texas Summer was a nice easy to read romance story. The characters were likeable, I especially liked Tate; there was just something about him that drew me to him straight away. Kelly was a nice enough character however I just didn’t feel that connection with her. I did really like her and Tate together though – they seemed to have a genuine attraction to each other. I really liked their outlooks on life, they were both really hard working and whilst Tate had a bit of a reputation I could genuinely feel that he liked Kelly and was trying to leave that behind.
The story was well written and it had a good pace and flow to it. It’s the perfect summer evening read that you just dip in and out of and immediately get back into the story. This is the first book in the Prentice Brothers series so I am really looking forward to getting to know these brothers more as the series continues!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really like historical romance so I thought I would go out of my comfort zone and try a historical mystery book and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Whilst it did take a little time to get into the story was richly detailed and well written. I have read work by the author previously so it was good to read something by her again. I really enjoyed the setting of the story and enjoyed the history that the author brought to the book. The characters were great to read about; in fact it was an enjoyable read overall and definitely one that I would recommend.

Confidentiality (Scope of Practice Book 2)Confidentiality by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After finishing the first book in this series I was eagerly awaiting the second and was so glad I didn’t have to wait long! I completely devoured this book in one sitting and was on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I didn’t know what to expect after book 1 but I can honestly say that the authors writing continued to be amazing throughout the second book too. I was looking forward to see how Val was doing in her life and how she was doing with her dream of normality but I should have known to expect some great twists and turns and my gosh there were definitely plenty of those in this gripping story!
The story was full of action and a storyline that kept me guessing throughout! A fantastic second novel in this series and one that I highly recommend! This is definitely an author I am going to be looking out for!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sometimes you pick up a book not knowing what to expect and it completely takes your breath away and this is exactly what happened with this story by Ms Elledge. I like YA books because find them nice and easy to follow and they always seems to have a good storyline that’s not overly complicated and it’s always nice to just pick up a book and get lost in what you’re reading for a while. This is exactly what happened to me in this book – in fact I got even more than I anticipated! The storyline was deep and the authors’ writing was beautifully detailed. I loved the characters, especially Gabriella! I was completely captivated by this fantasy world of angels, demons and so much more! I was definitely kept on the edge of my seat that’s for sure and I cannot wait for the next book to find out what happens!

Center of Gravity (An Ice Tigers Hockey Romance Book 2) by Isabella Cassazza – Review by Katie Matthews

Center of Gravity (Ice Tigers #2)Center of Gravity by Isabella Cassazza
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love a good sports romance and it’s been a while since I read one so when I came across this book I liked the sound of the synopsis so decided to give it a go. The author is new to me also and I wasn’t disappointed at all. I t had everything that I love in a sports romance, a nice storyline, great characters a bit of angst and more. I really liked Emilia, she tried so hard to get her Grandfathers approval but nothing seemed enough. I did really feel for her at times. I really loved the setting for the story too, I love Italy and I love stories set there, I’m sure sometimes just stories just being set there makes them even more romantic!
Even though this is the second book in the series it can be read as a standalone which I did, I however definitely want to read the first book now! A great read that I highly recommend!

Boundaries (Scope of Practice, #1)Boundaries by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a twisty, mysterious, thrilling read this was! I was intrigued by the synopsis for the story so I was looking forward to seeing how the story would play out and I have to say, although not my genre of choice, I was completely hooked by what I was reading. The story had quite a slow pace but I think that definitely helped build tension and towards what was happening in the story. The mental health aspects of the story were well written in my opinion and the authors detailed writing definitely helped me imagine what was going on. I liked that I had to get to know Valerie; she wasn’t your typical social worker. I enjoyed getting to know her as the story progressed! I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!

In the Arms of Morpheus, a Speculative Romance (Antiheroes, #2)In the Arms of Morpheus, a Speculative Romance by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have been really fortunate to have read a few books by this author now, I absolutely love her work. Her writing is a true pleasure to read and I find that it never takes me long to read one her wonderfully detailed stories. I really enjoyed the first book in this series so I couldn’t wait for this one and it didn’t disappoint. Again I was transported into a science fiction type mythology world. I really liked the characters Tasha and Josh – they were likeable and I liked the connection that they had with each other. They had a nice chemistry between them that felt genuine. As I’ve come to expect from this author the story was richly detailed and I could easily imagine what I was reading.

As always I 100% recommend this author – her writing is fantastic and In the Arms of Morpheus was no exception.

TWO HEARTS UNSPOKEN TARGETS (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 11)TWO HEARTS UNSPOKEN TARGETS by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So you would think after 11 books in this series I would be getting fed up but I am not – not one bit! I absolutely LOVE this series, the authors beautiful writing is a huge part of that. I just adore the characters she creates; they are so wonderful to read about. Each story in this series is completely different even though they are based around the same thing. I just loved Elizabeth and Zack! Right from the beginning I just knew that this story would pull at my heartstrings – and it did. For me the author did an amazing job with Kyle’s character (Beth’s son) I think it’s easy for author’s to be stereotypical when writing about disabilities or mental health for example but this author never does. Zach’s character was not what I was expecting but I loved him so much and could really feel how he was feeling at times.
Yet again Ms Ferguson has written another wonderful story and I 100% recommend it as I do with all of her amazing work!

I’ve read a few books by this author now usually in anthologies and I always really enjoy what she writes so I was looking forward to reading this one and overall I really enjoyed it. It did take me a little time to get into the story but I fully expected that having not read any of the series previously. I thought the story had a great pace and flow to it, my interest was held from beginning to end. I loved that the plot was concealed to the very end and I enjoyed that Ms Biggar kept me guessing from page to page what was going to happen. The characters of Julie and Matthew were really interesting to read about!
I highly recommend the story and look forward to reading more from Ms Biggar in the future.

I haven’t read the first book in the series and I was a little worried that I would be completely lost but actually I was dragged into the story straight away and whilst reading book 1 would have given me answers to some of my questions I absolutely loved what I read. I love historical stories but I’m quite new to the time travel genre and I have to say this author has me hooked on it now! I was captivated by the author’s wonderful writing, full of great descriptive language and fantastic characters.
I am definitely going to read book 1 now and I am very excited to read book 3!! The Traveler is highly recommended!!

Help Me Harry (Collection: Sun, Sand & A Ring On My Hand Book 2)Help Me Harry by Mya O’Malley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this author so much, I love that whatever she writes is just wonderful to read. She plans her characters so well and makes them so connectable to the reader. Her writing is so easy to read, I just know when I pick up one of her books I am going to enjoy it and I definitely enjoyed Help Me, Harry. As soon as I started reading about Cassie and Harry I fell in love, they were both genuine characters that I couldn’t help but care about and want the best for them. The first meeting between the two of them I could feel the connection that they had, it did seem really honest and genuine. I thought that they would be perfect for each other. I could tell Harry desperately wanted to shake his player past to convince and show Cassie that he could be the man for her!
A wonderful romance read that I thoroughly enjoyed! As always I look forward to more from this talented author!

What a lovely story!! I have read books by this author previously so I was really looking forward to starting this one and I did really enjoy it! I read the story quite quickly and I think that because it was so well written and had a fantastic pace the words just seemed to flow along and it was an easy read. I loved the characters, Chloe and Sebastian! Chloe has such a wonderful nature especially towards animals, she had a connection with them and I really enjoyed watching her and Sebastian form a connection also. The animals in the story were a great addition also; it definitely made the characters feel more connectable for me being an animal lover also. As with all good romance stories there were some twists and turns but deep down I was rooting for Chloe and Sebastian the whole way through!
A fantastic heart-warming read and one that I would highly recommend! I can’t wait to read more from Ms Daniels again!

Ashes To Ashes Boxset (books 1-3) by Rowena Holloway – Review by

Ashes To Ashes Boxset (books 1-3)Ashes To Ashes Boxset by Rowena Holloway
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Ashes to Ashes box set is contains 3 fantastic stories by Rowena Holloway! It is a series that will definitely have you wanting more! The storyline is gripping and the fast paced reads had me turning the pages faster and faster so that I could find out what was going to happen next! The 3 books in this box set are Bad Things Happen, Less You Know and From the Ashes. This box set is a definite must read!!

Bad Things Happen – Book 1
Bad Things Happen was such a gripping read and one that I really found difficult to put down, this is also the first book that I have read by this author. I was really taken with her writing style, she kept the book exciting and gripping the whole way through and she definitely threw in some great twists and turns too. The characters were complex and had a great depth to them. The storyline was well thought out and had a great pace to it. I loved the way the author chose to write the story and it was not confusing at all, it made the story interesting and unique to read.

Less You Know – Book 2
Wow! The second book in this series and I loved it just as much as, if not more then, the first one! The story was an exciting, gripping read that I had a really hard time putting down. The twists and turns in the story are probably amongst some of the best I have ever read; just when I thought I knew what was going to happen there was another twist. The author absolutely kept me on my toes and on the edge of my seat with this read. The ending was brilliant! I loved that I couldn’t even begin to guess what was going to happen in the story, I felt like I was trying to solve it alongside reading it. The dual point of view meant I got information from different characters as I was trying to piece together just what had happened!

From the Ashes – Book 3
From the Ashes is the third and final book in the Ashes to Ashes series and was an amazing read! The action begins right from the get go and it definitely doesn’t stop until the very end. I would absolutely recommend reading this series in order to fully appreciate it. I love this authors writing, she is able to drag me into her stories straight away – she has a thrilling writing style that keeps my interest throughout. I have to say, I think this book may be my favourite from the series, I loved the first two but Ms Holloway definitely took this thrilling read to the next level. There were some great twists and turns in the story and I loved that I was kept guessing from beginning to end. I have loved reading about Charlotte in this series, she is a fantastic character!
This really has been a wonderful series and one that I highly recommend reading! I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future!

This was such a lovely read; I was completely captivated by the whole book from beginning to end. The characters Lesley and John were wonderful; I especially fell in love with John straight away. I had my fingers crossed for Lesley the whole way through – I wanted her to find the man that she deserved someone who would love her like she loves. I could feel the emotions coming from John during the story; the author was able to get them across so well.
The authors writing was slow to develop but it was absolutely perfect for this story, there is no way a fast paced read would have suited these characters and their story.
