Mornin The Super Bird: Mornin Finds a Way to Stop Extinction by Jules Heartly is a fantastic children’s book that is entertaining but also informative. I read this book to my daughter this evening and she loved everything second of it. Reading this book easily took us twice as long as usual because she had to look at every single picture and talk about it. Even though the book isn’t aimed at my age range I can honestly say I also thoroughly enjoyed the book. I love how involved my little one became but I also loved how colourful and entertaining the book was. It was informative and educational without being dull or lecturing. This is an incredible book that I would urge any parent to buy. I am already looking forward to when we read this book again.

A sweet tale about a young girl discovering who she is with the help of a guardian angel. Tally is only 13 and after the death of her mother travels with her father to India where the adventure begins. This is a well written paranormal mystery recommended for pre-teens and up. There is decent world building and character development and Tally was very easy to relate to. A very strong start to what looks to be a terrific series.

I think this might be one of the best children’s books I’ve seen in a while. I loved the writing, the whole concept of the story, and the illustrations were out of this world. Will definitely be buying hard copies for Christmas stockings this year.
I can absolutely see how this could be used in the classroom and a whole lesson with discussions and projects being included. It has a great message that could be expanded in so many parts of our children’s minds. I really loved this and can’t wait for my grandbabies to have their copies.

Tally and the Angel is the first book in a cute middle-grade children’s contemporary series. Tally is gifted a pendant by her mother, but it is not just any pendant, it has an angel living in it! Tally believes having her very own angel is great and cannot wait to take him on her trip to India with her father. Once in India, she learns of children being kidnapped in the city of Agra, that they are staying in. With the help of her angel Jophiel and a few friends along the way, she begins to solve the mystery of who is taking the children and what has happened to them. I think the author did a great job of using words that middle-grade readers could understand and relate to. As an adult, even I was excited to find out how the book concluded and what the answer to the mystery was. I would highly recommend this book, not only for young middle-grade readers but for adults too. It was a fun book that includes mystery, adventure, friendship, bravery and so much more! The author really makes you feel like you are a part of the adventure and wants you to keep reading to find out what happens. I cannot wait to read where the next adventure is for Tally and Jophiel!

Lighting the Path by Dr. Marcia Nathai-Balkissoon is a book that I will never forget reading. She took me on a journey of life with a special needs child, She is a parent of a special needs child. She gives great ideas of who, what, where, and how to deal with a journey with a special needs child. I took this story to be a great guide to assist anyone who has a special needs child(ren) in their life. Her journey with Emma and her ups and downs. She gives great resource information so that you do not feel alone in the journey. There are a lot of emotions not only the caregiver go through but the other members of the family. I finished this book in one sitting and had to have kleenex next to me. I highly recommend this book to everyone and anyone who wants to understand what the family unit endures. Thank you Dr. Marcia for your wonderful story.

I can’t say enough good things about this book. I felt so many different emotions with this book including those on a very personal level. Being the mother of a child with disabilities, tears were shed. The authors emotions were extremely present in this book. I felt as if I were truly in the story and it hit so many places close to my heart. I felt as if I were in a heart to heart therapy session with a dear friend and she was telling me everything that I needed to hear. This is a book that every mother should read especially mothers who can relate with all the same struggles and victories. This book came to life for me and it is a book that I will refer back to for not only help but for inspiration.

This was a lovely children’s book and one I would definitely recommend for young readers. The authors writing was really easy to follow and the story was interesting. I could definitely see young readers reading this book and wanting to read more of the series. It definitely got my imagination going! The authors descriptive language could definitely be used as a talking point for readers as well as some of the themes that come up in Tally’s story.
Definitely an enjoyable read and one I would recommend!

Never have I felt less alone as a parent of special needs children! Marcia Nathai-Balkissoon takes you on a beautiful, emotional journey as she tells her daughter’s story and offers resources for her readers with every chapter. It felt more like having a conversation with a friend than reading a book! I was drawn in and it was hard to put it down. Though tears were shed along the way, I walked away feeling more at peace and hopeful for my path moving forward. Anyone who is a parent of a special needs child, or anyone who is a caretaker at all could benefit from this book! Whether you are new to being a caretaker, or someone experienced, Marcia has something to offer. It is truly a gift from the author to the world. I will be keeping it close by to read again and again!

This book is amazing and touched my heart completely. As a mother with a healthy child I can only imagine the pain and heartache that accompanies a child with special needs. Marcia is incredibly brave opening herself wide open in this book, describing not only all her pain and feelings about the things her and her family have gone through but also providing practical steps and guidance for any parent going through the same thing.
This book is heartbreaking to read about Emma’s condition but also inspiring and full of hope at her parents strength and determination to give her the best life possible. This book is a must read for any parent who has a special needs child or for anyone who has connections to a special needs child because this helps explain a lot of things. The story of Emma and her family has touched my heart and is one I will never forget.

This book really hit home for me. I am a special needs parent; I have special needs myself and I was raised in a special need’s environment before and after my adoption. It takes a lot of love, and strength to not only watch your child go through their trials and tribulations, but to feel it and go through it with them, with your own guilts and fears hand in hand. Marcia Nathai-Balkissoon embodied this throughout her entire book, giving her readers a look not just into her life, but into her soul. I applaud the author for her willingness to share her story and empower others in life who are struggling, whether it is in silence or not. There are many take away from this book that I choose to live with in my life now, thanks to Marcia, you can choose one or you can choose many, and one of them for me is to always remember not to give up and to have hope. Does this mean that this book needs to be read by only special needs parents or people with special needs? No, it does not.

I can’t say enough good things about Tally and the Angel by Eleanor Dixon. I ventured way outside my comfort zone when I chose to read this. I’m very glad I did. I got way more than I bargained for. Tally and the Angel is a great story, with strong characters, and excellent descriptions of the places Tally visits. I felt like I was there in India and the Taj Mahal. Eleanor Dixon gives a lot of opportunities for the reader to learn compassion, empathy, choosing between right and wrong, especially for younger readers. I plan to read this to my kids soon, I think they’ll really enjoy it! I can not wait to see where Tally and the Angel go on their next adventure. I highly recommend it for every age!

Lighting the Path, by Marcia Nathai-Balkissoon is a book I would recommend for everyone. That’s right, not just someone who takes care of a special needs child, but EVERYONE. I do not have a special needs child, am not a caretaker of one, and do not want to be a teacher. However, having a special needs child is my biggest fear. I’m afraid I won’t know what to do and will basically be a terrible parent.
After reading this book, I feel so much better. I think this opens the eyes of strangers to really see what a parent goes through when they have a child with a disability. Dr. Marcia is really making a difference with this book, and I am so thankful for her.

I enjoyed this fantasy story. This is a well written story about Tally and her Angel. She believes that having an angel with her things couldn’t go wrong. Until she realizes that it doesn’t seem to matter as she finds herself in danger and in a race against time. She took me on a fun, entertaining adventure where she will find courage and strength. She made such a great character. She is relatable and I really enjoyed what she brought to the story. The secondary characters are just as fun and entertaining. They brought the story to life and took me on a fun adventure. This is a great fantasy story that I am happy I picked up. I highly recommend this book.

Tally and the Angel: Book One India is a fun Middle school age children’s story by Eleanor Dixon. This is a wonderful paranormal fantasy, with adventure, mystery, danger, drama, a race against time, bravery, and more. Tally inherits a necklace that holds a wonderful secret. The necklace is home to an Angel- and you guessed it- adventure awaits. When Tally discovers that children are being stolen, she feels she needs to do something about it. And so the adventure begins. She and her angel guide, Jophiel, find themselves pitted against the ‘bad guys’ in a race against time in order to save the day. I couldn’t help but become invested in the outcome and was rooting for her the whole way through. This story may be aimed at a younger audience, but it is so charming that I feel it could be enjoyed by all ages!

Absolutely loved this book! Reading the synopsis and seeing the cover I wasn’t too sure if it was going to be my style, but from the first chapter I was immediately drawn into this story. I was sad to see little Tally lose her mom at a young age, but she is a strong girl and goes off on the start of an adventure with her dad. Their first stop is India, everything, every place, every person was described so nicely, the picture in my head was so vivid. I was happy to see Tally befriend Balvan, and excited to see where their friendship would go in terms of adventures together. The magic of the pendant Tally’s mom passed down to her along with the Angel Jophiel that inhabits the necklace is such a fun addition to the story and watching their relationship grow and discovering the powers Jophiel holds and how they can help Tally is so cool. I would really recommend this to any child or young adult to read, or anyone really, it is a very fun and interesting to read. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

This is a wonderful resource for parents of a special needs child, as well as, a good resource for any parent in any given situation! This author had me in absolute tears while reading her personal story, though her story is heart wrenching it also had me feeling so inspired and hopeful. The love that this mom has for her daughter can be felt through the beautiful words she wrote and I loved that.
My children are not special needs; however, I still feel like I was able to take away so many lessons from this book. It really puts things into perspective and I love her checklists, because they can be applied to any parenting situation.
I would highly recommend this book to any parent looking for any sort of guidance. It’s a wonderful read full of valuable information.

The author is a special needs parent and has used her experience to try and help others navigate the tough situation they face. I have never been in the position of those this book is aimed at and yet I still found myself drawn in by the author and her own journey. I thought the book did a great job explaining everything in simple, easy to understand terms which I can imagine is something needed in the circumstance. As the author had been through this herself everything she was writing had a greater depth behind it. This is a brilliant book that I think is a really helpful tool and is definitely worth the reading time.

I enjoyed this book. This is a book that I can relate to being a special needs parent myself. The author talks about having to face different circumstances and how to face them head on. This is a helpful book to those who are feeling overwhelmed by their child or the feeling of hopelessness. This author does a great job in descriptions that are understandable and easily done by another. I enjoyed how this book is written with heart and hope for a parent who feels stuck. Tally, a brave, strong and intelligent 13 year old, is devastated at the death of her mother. A great read, however, I do think some of the themes would be a little deep for children on the younger end of the target age range(8-12). I think some of the angel/demon/god talk might be confusing for the younger reader. I am looking forward to reading the 2nd installment. Tally is a loveable main character. 4/5 stars

She is passionate about helping special needs families to feel more connected, gain visibility, access and support, and tap into their resilience.
Beyond the special needs context, Marcia helps people connect deeply with their purpose so they can experience more joy and fulfilment. Through intuitive and logical interventions, her work seeks to shift mindsets, build habits, foster creativity and curiosity, and enable people to live their best lives each day, trusting they are enough.
Currently a tenured lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Marcia is most drawn to the fields of health, safety and wellness, business and personal strategy, and teaching and learning. She is a certified Parent Skills Master Trainer and enjoys working with her husband to adapt interventions for their daughter and helping other parents to do the same for their children.

This is a great story. Tally, a 13-year-old from England accompanies her father to travel the world after the death of her mother. Wearing the pendant her mother always wore, she discovers it houses an ancient angel who helps guide the wearer toward intelligence and reasoned judgement. It’s a good thing too, because Tally is a brave girl who can’t sit idly by when she learns that children are being stolen in the city she is staying in. She’ll need every bit of that smarts and reason to tackle some serious bad guys and and have the courage to seek justice for them.
This is a fun book with lots to keep the reader entertained. Anyone who’s been an underestimated kid will be rooting for Tally and cheering for her success. That’s not to say she isn’t scared – of course she is! But she chooses to act anyways, which is the mark of a true hero.

On the saddest day of her life, Tally discovers that the pendant which belonged to her mother is home to the Angel Jophiel. Tally knows that having her very own angel will change her life forever. Solving mysteries and having adventures with an angel in tow is awesome, right? What could go wrong? But being best friends with an angel doesn’t stop Tally from plunging into great danger when she discovers a deadly plot to destroy India with a gigantic flood. In a race against time beneath the beautiful city of Agra, Tally will need all her own courage and strength as well as Jophiel’s mythical sword to save herself and hundreds of kidnapped children.
My school life was spent in a girls’ boarding-school specialising in classical ballet and on leaving I danced professionally, touring Europe, for 4 years. After that I ran my own ballet school in Athens, Greece and simultaneously volunteered as a veterinary nurse, as my love of animals is the driving force in my life. I returned to England with my horse and my cat, and now live on a smallholding in Shropshire with various farm animals and a constant stream of pets.
I started writing while in Greece and completed a Creative Writing Course with the Writers’ Bureau. The same year, I won an annual competition in the Writing Magazine for an adult Fairy Story.
On my return to England I wrote two children’s books, but my new life, caring for Highland Cattle, sheep, hens and pets, coupled with extensive global travel, meant that writing for publication took a back seat. I continued my love of writing with a daily journal and amusing travel blogs of each trip.
I am now writing full time and TALLY AND THE ANGEL is the first of a planned series. Their next adventure takes place in Canada, in North Yukon and the third in Japan. I intend them to have adventures in Greece, Egypt, Peru, Africa – anywhere I have been, really.
My first published novel, THE GRACEFUL GHOST, draws on my own experiences in ballet-boarding-school and my early teenage life and is a story that has lived with me for many years. It was shortlisted for the UK Selfies Award 2021.

L.B. Anne does a great job mixing fantasy, mystery, and gets you hooked quick with The way to Storey. Lue is homeschooled by her grandfather in the swamps of Florida and basically sheltered from everthing. Lues grandfather tells her that they are from a place called Storey and to go there if something happens to him but really doesnt tell Lue about the place. Lue descends on a journey after finding a weird light. Who are Lues friends and who are her foes?

What a delightful story. I loved how this came together. It was very imaginative and playful and appeals to all age levels. Just the right amount of whimsy to keep a younger reader engaged without losing the interest of an older lover of fantasy. Very enjoyable.
