Ashes (Modern-Day Fairy Tale Series #1) by M.K. Harkins

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Ashes is a great story and left me wanting more. Ashes is a modern day Cinderella story and I loved every minute of it. This is the first book in the Modern-Day Fairy Tale Series.

Ashley is the modern day Cinderella and lives with her step-mother and step-sisters. She is told to stay away from the new boy at school as he’s meant for her step-sisters. Then she meets him and finds that they have more in common than she thought. The quote I chose for Ashley is: “No need to be sorry. I don’t know why that popped out. I must trust you or something.”

Harry is the popular boy and the new person at school. He finds that the new school only comes with complications. One of them being Ashley’s step-sisters. Can he and Ashley make it? The quote I chose for Harry is: “No one’s asked me that question before. I’d like to believe once I redeem myself by going back and finishing high school in a more normal way, they’ll let me start living my life the way I want to.”

Highly recommended for YA Romance lovers.

So I’m a huge fan of twists or retellings of different stories and on of my favorites is different takes on Cinderella so I was definitely excited for this one. And boy was I so right to hop right in. Ashley and Harry were characters that had me completely captured and forgetting I was in a story world. This author just knows how to keep readers so sucked in. I definitely can’t wait to see where the author takes readers next. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. It’s a fun read that will keep you entertained for hours. Five big stars and highly recommended!

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book 2) by M.K. Harkins

Four Star
The Jack by MK Harkins was a good change from what I normally read. In a world where Readers and Seers think that all the Jack’s are dead. But one remains and he risks everything to save the woman he still loves and her husband who use to be his best friend. Archer is very interesting character. He was betrayed by the ones held close. Everyone saw him as a traitor. I loved Sadie. She was super fun I loved her personality. I definitely took issues with how every one treated Archer. It’s not his fault who his mother was. Plus they grew up with him they should’ve understood what was happening to him. Most especially Devon. The author dis a great job putting this story together. I was a little lost at first but it quickly come together. The thing I love most about reading is stepping into a world someone else has created. This author did great taking me away fro m my surroundings and being completely focused on this book.

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two) by M.K. Harkins — Review by Cynthia Ayala

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)The Jack by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Picking up where the last book left off The Jack follows Archer on his road to redemption. What’s so lovely about redemption stories is that we get to see the complications that come with wanting to redeem one’s self. Archer was a minor character in the previous novel, and now he finally gets to shine. He seems so different than he was in the previous novel because two years have passed, allowing him to think on all the lies that led to his betrayal, lies he thought of as truth, forcing him now to come to terms with his actions and the consequences. It is very nice to see his character grow. In the previous novel, again, he was a minor character and very flat, static. That was okay because the story was not about him and he was, very much, a plot device. Everything is different now. Now he has a chance to shine, and he has that chance to shine. Archer is far more enigmatic in this novel than he was not a previous novel his narrative the description of his little twitches, quirks, and personality make him jump off the pages.

He is not the only character that gets to shine. Their’s Sadie who is the last Seer. Sadie has lived her life and isolation because the Jacks killed all the other Seers. So naturally, she harbors this resentment and hatred toward all things Jack including Archer understandably even though he is only half, Jack. Ultimately the fact that the story goes between Archer and Sadie makes the story thrive. It is a very different formula than the previous novel that only followed one person’s perspective, but now the story goes back and forth between the male perspective in a female perspective and two characters who have similar common denominators as far as their lives are concerned.

Both characters are very different than what Harkins has given readers in the previous novel. They have different dynamics that make the story flow. Their romance is also very different than the previous novel, and both characters have such defining qualities that make them likable to the reader.

It is an entertaining story, and much like its predecessor, its fast pace it keeps moving it is honestly novel one could probably read one day because it just moves so quickly. However, there’s also a lot going on in the story. Some scenes just like in the previous novel do seem a little rushed, but they do not hinder the story or distracted reader. However there’s still so much history that could be explored, there’s so much in the backstory that could make this novel have a higher level of depth than it already has.

Ultimately at the end of the day, it is an excellent novel to rain because it just moves very quickly, keeps the readers on their toes and has fantastic character development.

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)The Jack by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book 2) M.K. Harkins is another example of why she is an excellent storyteller. I have read the first book, The Reader and really really enjoyed that one but this one went the extra mile. I loved all the angst and suspense, the action and all of the surprise twists and turns and lets not forget the romantic tension between our main characters. This story is enthralling and engaging and I was unable to put it down. Being the number one suspect and being separated from those he loves leaves Archer with conflicting feelings when faced between helping them or not. But is he really who they think he is? This story is well written and will take you on a ride to remember.

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book 2)
By M.K. Harkins
Rated 5 stars!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. This is a great sequel!! It blends well with the first one (The Reader). The beginning starts out two years after the ending of all Jacks. Archer is living a life he doesn’t want. He secretly watches Ann and her family from afar. Since he is supposed to have perished and possibly committed murder he can not approach or he will be committed to prison after Devon works him over. So when a slip of a girl approaches Archer to warn of impending doom for Ann and her family. What will Archer do? Give himself up for Ann again? Or let her perish? What a great start right?!

I enjoy hanging out with these characters. It started in The Reader and it continues here in The Jack. We still get to see Devon and Ann but we are able to learn more about Archer (yes!) and Lucy. Lucy is a force to be reckoned with..I can’t wait to get her story (Hopefully). Archer…..well he can’t catch a break! He seems to be in the same position as the last book. Love triangle! Grrr! That poor boy! He has skills and is cute with his blond looks. He is fun and that smile is charming. When it isn’t covered by sadness and guilt.

There are new characters (good and bad) that we meet. They all add some fun and adventure to the story. A few we get more insight as they have a more active role. My favorite was Sadie. She has some fire and stubbornness to her. Plus she is a forward thinker which will help out the main crew. Her and Archer are kinda like oil and water….at first.

The story drew me in and kept my interest. I loved the idea of the Readers, Jacks and Seers. Plus they live in a mountain! Seriously how ingenious! The gadgets they have are so cool! It’s a fascinating world these people live in. The story moves forward nicely and I struggled to figure out who the bad people were. Which was awesome! I enjoy stories that intrigue me and keep me guessing. Ha ha that’s what makes me speed through….so I can figure it out. The author keeps me interested by giving information out but not too much. Very well done!

This is easily a favorite series and I look forward to reading more. I can’t wait to see how Archer, Sadie, Devon and Ann fare in future stories. Oh and I don’t want to forget Lucy!

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)The Jack by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give The Jack (The Immortal Series Book 2) by M.K. Harkins, 4 stars.
*This review may contain spoilers from book 1.*

Archer just exists now. His once best friends hate him. The woman of his dreams is in love with the man he considered like a brother. He cannot move on. But when a woman warns him that his friends are in danger, he cannot only not get her out of his head, he thinks she might be of a race thought to be long gone. Does he warn these people who now hate him?

Sadie is the last seer, and it has been foretold that she is to kill the last Jack. They are an evil race and must be permanently eradicated. But then she starts events that have her surrounded by Archer and the Readers. The more she gets to know Archer, the more she feels for him. Are they sure he is the last Jack? Can she go through with it?

This is such a great book. It has been a while since since I read book 1, and it took a little bit for me to get back into it, but once I did I could not put it down. There is so much going on and so many twists and turns that you will never see what happens next. Incredible writing makes this story even more interesting. Sadie is a great new character and I like how she interacts with the others while keeping her secret to herself.

I recommend reading book one first, but I highly recommend this book and series for lovers of fantasy with some suspense thrown in for good measure.

Rated 5 stars

Wow! What an amazing story! The world building was perfect. The characters drew me in and didnt want to let go. They were fun, serious, different and strong willed. I even chuckled and said “Oh!” A couple times. I loved the story of the readers, the jacks and the seers. Ann, Archer and Devon were Intriguing and I just kept turning pages until I knew all about them and all their secrets. I was amazed by Ann more than once. She might have no memory but those memory muscles….they work perfectly. Ha ha. Right Devon?? I loved the idea of “The Lost One”. Some of the history was tedious but it was needed as well to understand the future story. I enjoyed learning about where The Readers lived and how they made things work. Very smart!

If Ann is the Lost One she will need to soul bond with either Devon, Archer, Lucy Or Marcus. What happens if more than one feels the beginnings of the bond. Who will Ann choose?

This is not my first book by the author. I enjoy all of her stories. They are inventive and interesting. This one was no exception. There was action, action and more action. The wording flows nicely and the story catches my attention. I loved the world and the characters.

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)The Jack by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Jack is the second book in The Immortal Series by M.K. Harkins. This is an extremely good New Adult fantasy- full of action mystery, suspense, danger, secrets, emotion, intrigue, and romance. Although you could read this book as a standalone, I really recommend reading The Reader before setting off on this adventure. The Reader is where we meet Archer and what happens in that book really sets the tone and direction of Archer’s story, so having all that information would be highly beneficial, and allow you to fully comprehend the situation, character, motivation, and back story.
I must admit that I was quite interested to see how this story would unfold, especially considering the events in the previous book. I had several scenarios and directions that I thought the story might take. BUT……THERE WAS NO WAY THAT I COULD HAVE EVER PREDICTED ANY OF THE EVENTS IN THIS BRILLIANT STORY!!! WOW!!! My mind is still reeling with it all. I’m still thinking about it several days later. A sure sign of a really great story! Fantastic!
There is quite a lot going on between the covers of this book, and I enjoyed following along as everything played out. I can always rely on Ms. Harkins to deliver a captivating story, no matter the genre, and this story/series is testament to that. It’s been two years since The Reader, but within minutes it was all coming back to me, and I was once more fully immersed in the fantastic world that Ms. Harkins created. Ms. Harkins uses her wonderful word-smithing capabilities to craft interesting and unforgettable characters, as well as an extraordinary world in which her characters, and story, come to life. Her attention to detail, intricately woven plot, descriptive language and phrases, are fantastic- painting my mind with vivid images. Then there were the twists and turns that left me quite speechless- she’s such a clever storyteller!!!!! These incredibly surprising developments really had me in a flipping frenzy, devouring the pages to find out what happens and how it all works out. I was definitely hooked from the very beginning and didn’t set it down until I had consumed the whole thing- reading it in one sitting. That ending! OMG- I wasn’t ready to leave! I need to know more! Please let there be another instalment in the works!!!
As always, I am looking forward to Ms. Harkin’s next book- whatever it may be.

Thank you, Ms. Harkins!

]The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)The Jack by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Jack is the second novel in the Immortal series by M. K. Harkins. This is my third novel by this author.

A half breed, Archer, is torn between two races, The Jacks which are a race who kill for sports and The Readers, a race that is trying to save mankind.

Years before, Archer betrays the Readers and ever since has been living alone and filled with unrequited love.

But when Archer becomes drawna to Sadie who is not only a Seer but has been given the task of killing him, which side will win? Will Sadie be able to kill him or will her heart sway her from her mission?

I really enjoyed this novel. I love novels where people have forbidden love and are able to overcome the obstacles to finally be happy with someone.

Even though it’s set two years after the first book, I really didn’t feel lost at while reading and was very engaged in the plot.

I liked Archer’s characters who is trying to seek redemption and I loved his journey and really felt for him.

I hope we get another book in the series.

The Jack is the second book in the Immortal series by M.K. Harkins. This series is off to an awesome start and can’t wait to see what happens in following books. I love the writing style of this series so far and I really hope the writing style continues throughout the series. It’s the exciting carry on from the reader, which I would highly recommend that you read first. With the Jack we get taken a couple of years in the future, where at the end of the Reader we saw the Jacks were just about made extinct. What I found in the Jack was the characters growth, which makes for an even better book. You will love this book especially if you like all the drama, the suspense and of course what is a book with out some romance thrown in to. I seriously recommend that this series is read, you will love it.

The Jack is book two in The Immortal Series written by M.K. Harkins. This story is part two following The Readers. In book one you met a lot of the characters and they are also in The Jack’s however this story focuses more on Archer and the Jack’s. There are new characters introduced and you feel the change coming in the story you just aren’t sure which way it will go yet. With Archer back home with the Readers can he prove his Innocence with the help of his friends and an unlikely seer. Or will the Jack’s come out of hiding and finish what they started with the War..and then there is the Reader who has betrayed everyone…if only they could figure it out before it’s too late…

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)The Jack by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Jack is book 2 and should be read after book one called The Reader. This series is off to a fantastic, adventurous start. I enjoyed reading this book and learning about the newest characters. Some characters return from book one and others are new to us.

The bottom line is essentially the same as book one. Good versus evil. There were three groups unknown to humans, trying to make the world a better place. One group, The Jacks, decided to turn away from good, while the Readers and the Seers continued making peace. After a war between the groups it was believed that all of the Jacks were destroyed. However, we have book 2 telling us a different story!

The story line is a little different in that, Sadie who is a Seer, must fulfill the vision of destroying the last of the Jacks. But Harkins has other plans! Archer is that last known Jack and while he has his own secrets he must earn back the trust of his friends who are seers and readers.

I liked how this story kept the mystery of the three groups, humans still don’t know they exist. I liked how the characters worked together with their powers to find out the truth. This story was easy to read as are Harkins other books. Definite recommendation for anyone liking a little adventure in a fantasy world!

I so love finding new authors as well as a new series. I however am also in the bad habit of reading
the books out of order. I came across this author by suggestion and I am glad I did. This author has a
refreshing writing style and representation of immortals. I quite like the concept of the Readers, the Jacks, and the Seers. Even though this is the second book I wasn’t out of sorts as I read it and
found it quite easy to get to grasps of what was going on.

I like how the drama unfolds around Archer. I found myself really routing for him as he was looked upon as the black sheep so to speak. I like how everything all fell into place and how the chemistry between Archer and Sadie developed over the book. I found myself glued to the pages to see how things would play out as the twists and turns in the drama unfolded. I really look forward to reading more from this author and this series.

Another winning book by M.K Harkins. This is book two in the Immortal Series. It is just as exciting as the first. Archer is back having to make a hard decision, protect humanity or avoid an eternal prison sentence. Supposed to kill all the Readers, he changed his mind at the last minute and saved them. Now he’s truly alone. All the Jacks are dead and the Readers want him dead or imprisoned. A surprise meeting with a Seer will change the course of his life. Little does he know she must kill the last remaining Jack. Love has other ideas and fate makes the mortal enemies work together.

The book was well written and drew me in from the start. The author introduced some new characters and threw in quite a few surprises that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is an excellent continuation to the series. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

“The Jack” is the second book in the riveting The Immortal series by MK Harkins. Please read “The Reader” first so you know what is going on! First of all, I just need to say “HOLY MOLEY!!” “The Jack” was SO good! I knew it would be, because I LOVED “The Reader” and this series is blowing my mind how good it is! “The Jack” gives us a different perspective than “The Reader” but with the same main characters, plus the lovely addition of Sadie. This story is about Archer and Sadie, a mysterious woman that Archer meets while keeping an eye on Devon and Ann. I won’t give away details but I was so surprised by the direction MK Harkins has taken with this book and makes me so excited to read more about these amazing characters! The story is so different that any story I have ever read and I’m eating it up! The originality, surprise twists and amazing imagery make this book a must read page-turner! So much love for MK Harkins and the mind blowing The Immortal series! I give “’The Jack” five whole hearted stars! I wish I could give more to truly convey how much I loved this book!! My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Jack was a great 5 star read and book 2 in The Immortal Series.
I was excited to get started on this read to see where the series was going next with Archer.

We get pulled in right from the beginning when Archer is sitting on the beach watching the one woman he loved but would never have because of choices that were made years before. When Sadie sits down next to him, something happens that causes him to make a choice.

By warning Archer, Sadie has revealed her true self, she panics and takes off. When Archer reveals how he knew of the impending danger, he is convinced to help search for Sadie.

What will happen when they find her? Will they work together or against each other?

I really liked Sadie, she tugged at my heart strings, especially with the years spent alone. Archer was great as well and when he connects with Sadie you can feel the connection. There is so much to this great story, suspense, twists, secrets, tears, and a little bit of romance for good measure. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. The Jack can be read as a stand alone, but I feel you will understand things so much better if you start with book 1. I can’t wait to get started on the next book in the series.

What an amazing second book of the Immortal Series, the Jack. I really like MK Harkins and she does an amazing job writing for the YA audience. The YA audience needs specialized talent to write a book and not lose their interest with in the first couple of pages. To be real I was hooked with in the first couple of paragraphs. As I stated this is the second book and to really get the story line I recommend reading the first book The Reader. There is a familiar name Archer from The Reader. Archer is trying to decide his destiny by helping the Readers, but that group does not trust him or protect the humanity. Archer has to do some soul searching for that answer. There is Sadie who is new to the series. She is an Immortal Seer which means she needs to rid the world of the dangerous Jacks. MK Harkins sets her us to be this beautiful young lady who will not be able to carry out her calling. She is trying to find out who is who and what she needs to do. Will she be able to carry her role or will she be unable to do so? Will Archer step up and help Sadie? You will have to read the book to find out.

The Reader is the first book in the Immortal series written by M.K. Harkins and I have read a few of this author books and she is amazing. The characters are well written and amazing I loved the way they interacted with each other. The way this author described the scenery was incredible and I could picture myself there.
Ann Baker is an eighteen year old girl who is being hunted on top of this she was shot and has no memory when she wakes in shallow water on a deserted Pacific Northwest island. She is soon approached by two young men claiming to be her friends. Something isn’t right, but when gunshots sound, Ann is left with little choice but to allow Devon and Archer to help her escape. Soon she finds herself in their North Bend mountain compound, where the higher evolved humans claim to be mind-readers. While Ann heals, she realizes they believe her to be one of the last and most powerful of all – The Lost One.
She’s welcomed by most with opened arms, but not everyone is happy about her arrival. A jealous adversary has plans for Ann, which spirals the entire Reader community into chaos.
As lies, murder, and betrayal threaten to rip apart the once harmonious mountain dwellers, Ann is thrust into making a decision that could save or devastate not only The Readers, but all of mankind. But there’s just one glitch: by doing so it may require her to make the ultimate sacrifice can she make this sacrifice?
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read the next book in this series…

The Jack is the second book in the Immortal series written by M.K. Harkens. I have read a few books by this author and her works get better and better I really enjoy her work. This book/series is a paranormal/romance with difficult choices and betrayal. The characters are well written and amazing I loved the way they interacted with each other. The way this author described the scenery was incredible and I could picture myself there.
Archer is a half breed, caught between two opposing heritages the Jacks, are a bloodthirsty race who kills for sport, and the Readers, are a docile race trying to save humankind. Two years ago, he betrayed the Readers, though, in a last-minute change of heart, saved them from ultimate destruction. But now he’s all alone, wallowing in unrequited love.
Should he save the Anne the woman he loves but can never have, protect humanity, or avoid a prison sentence that would stretch for eternity?
Sadie who is an Immortal Seer and with a vision from her ancestors she is left with a dangerous calling: she must hunt down and destroy the last of the vengeful Jacks. But her quirky humor and gentle spirit make her an unlikely fit for the job.
Archer can’t believe he is drawn to Sadie’s with her pure, kindhearted nature, rekindling hope that he might not have to live a solitary life, but he has no idea the danger he’s in.
When fate forces mortal enemies to work together, Sadie must determine which side Archer is on, how much of his charm is real, and if she should follow through with her directive: should she kill him or save him? Is he the last Jack? Are they are soul mates?
This is a great paranormal read and can’t wait to see what Ms. Harkins has in-store for us in her next book in this series…

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book 2) By MK Harkins. This story had me completely hooked from page one. I had a little trouble in book one but those troubles are way in the past. I highly recommend reading these in order to really enjoy this world the author has brought readers. This fantasy story is much more than just that, it has romance, suspense and action. While we watch Archer and Sadie’s book unfold be ready for an incredible journey and adventure. The author writes a story that completely comes to life before you eyes with great attention to details and characters that are just as flawed and relatable as anyone living on earth. There was definitely times where I had to remind myself I was reading a story and not living it. It’s an amazingly written story that can’t be truly compared to any other storyline. It’s well thought out and paced nicely. The characters drag you into their world and I had a hard time leaving when all was said and done. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend this book.

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book 2) by M.K. Harkins – Review by Heather Bahm

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)The Jack by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Jack, The Immortal Series Book Two, by M.K. Harkins is a contemporary fantasy novel. I highly recommend reading the series in order so that you learn back history on several of the characters that are paramount, front and center in The Jack. The Jack is the follow-up story to The Reader. In The Jack, Asher takes the stage either to surpass all expectations or to fall into the depths everyone believes he belongs within. I thought I knew Asher’s character after reading the first book of the series, but M.K. Harkins quickly strips that away adding additional depth and dimension to his character. We continue on unimaginable journeys these characters are forced to embark upon in the chance of finding their happiness and something to strive for. The dynamic between the characters, whether friends, enemies or a mix of both, was well laid out. I felt transported into this story as the series of events occurs from scene to scene. The emotional attachment, the longing, the hope, it was all spectacularly written to the final chapters. M.K. Harkins is showcasing her writing genius in this series, it’s something to behold!!

The Jack (The Immortal Series #2) by M.K. Harkins ~ Review by Liz Vrchota

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)The Jack by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was so excited when I found out that there was going to be a second book to after M.K. Harkins’s, The Reader. I had enjoyed that one but, felt it was a tad rushed and needed more or at least had more to give. I would recommend reading the first book before you jump into this one. It would set up the world and explain things a bit for you.

That all said this is the story of Archer and Sadie. I really enjoyed these two. Archer is stuck between a rock and a hard place really. He has had been both the good guy and still yet he had betrayed those he helped and become their enemies now. Things get even more interesting when he meets Sadie. She just happens to be on the lookout for guys like Archer. But when they touch there is a magic there that they have never felt before. To make matters worse, fate has thrust them into working together. As you can imagine this makes for some pretty interesting reads… but for that you will have to pick up the book for yourself to see. I personally can’t wait to find out what comes next in The Immortal Series. Happy Reading!

Running from Demons (The Chronicles of Andor Series #2) by M.K. Theodoratus ~ Review by Liz Vrchota

Running from DemonsRunning from Demons by M.K. Theodoratus
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was my first time reading anything by M.K. Theodoratus and I was pretty impressed. I was in the mood for something with a paranormal twist given that it’s October and this promised some with its synopsis on Goodreads. I wasn’t as spooked as I would had hoped, but it was a really well plotted novel, with plenty of mystery and intrigue to keep one on their toes and ready for more. The details are really what make the novel though, kind of one of those where you can close your eyes and envision yourself in the room with the MC. The writing is flawless and detailed, I loved it.

Pillar Becon is a ‘null’, basically an outcast amongst others because she doesn’t’ have the magic that others around her do. This is just one layer to the story. Throw in several more like, trying to uncover her mother’s buried past, and a horrible demon named Grylerrque, and you have some pretty great reading material.

I wasn’t really aware till further along in the novel that this is actually a part two in a series, The Chronicles of Andor. It didn’t affect my ability to read this one. I do think I will go back and read the first, though. I most definitely will go on to read the third, “Rendezvous with Demons” Overall, a great four-star read that I couldn’t put down. I look forward to seeing what else is available from M.K. Theodoratus.

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book 2) by M.K. Harkins – Review by Madison Degraffenreid

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)The Jack by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Jack by M. K. Harkins
This second book in the Immortal series follows Archer and Sadie. Sadie is new to the group and is introduced in this novel as one of the last Seers. I was a fan of Archer’s character in the first book and I am excited to see him have a second chance at things in this novel.
This book was an excellent 5 star novel and there was never a dull moment. It is fast paced and action packed. It also has great character development. I loved it. I do recommend reading the first book because a lot of what happens in this book builds off of it.

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two) by M.K. Harkins – Review by Emily Walsh

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)The Jack
ByM.K. Harkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two) by M.K. Harkins was a entertaining engaging read that had me hooked.

Not my first read by this author or in this series, and though this book takes place two years after The Reader ends, this is still a continuation series so I suggest reading the first book before this one, as it will give you much needed info on the character’s backstory and, the even that takes place before The Jack.

I have to say, that this book was a tad bit better than the first, there were still some scenes that felt rushed, like the first book, but the overall plot was a bit more polished and being told in duel POV really added something special to this read. Again this book has the same picturesque writing as the first and expands on that original story and tale that M.K. Harkins created.

I like Archer in the first book, he really got the short end of the stick. But I’m glad this story follows him and his journey to redemption and finally getting those shadows lifted. Sadie was a okay character, for someone that’s live for two millina, she sure was nice. I don’t know, if that was me, I don’t think I would be that kind, or sane.

Overall this book was the perfect addition to this unique tale. I was drawn in from the start, and though there some pacing issues, the plot was gitty, the characters well-rounded and connecting. I give this book my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading
