Turning The Tide is Book 5 in the Eastern Shore Swingers Series by Phoebe Alexander and this author has hit the jackpot with this series. Each book gets better and better. Once I saw this book, I knew I needed to read it ASAP!
Turning the Tide was a little different from the others in the series. Some of it reminded me of Paisley and Calvin’s book with all the crazy action. This book has so much going on and I just kept reading and reading. There was never a dull page.
Luke Cannon is a ENT doctor who happens to be married and pretty good friends with Cap. Luke’s marriage isn’t anything to write home about. His wife is verbally and emotionally abusive. I’m not sure why Luke had stayed with his wife after the last 10 years of torture she has put him through. He manages to stay faithful even though he was
miserable. He finally gives in the Cap’s invitation to go to The Factory. He meets Connie the first night and cannot seem to get her out of his mind. There’s a lot of back and forth between Connie and Luke once she finds out he is married but he tries to let her understand his situation. This book has so much going on, it’s impossible to not LOVE IT!!! Your going to have to read the book to find out just how much action there is. Another amazing read! Well done Phoebe!! Cannot wait for more.

TAMING THE TROUBLEMAKER is the third book in The Hills of Texas series yet can be read as a stand-alone. I Think recurring characters from previous story’s are very well explained in this novel so you won’t feel lost.

The main characters are cute together. Their back and forth dialogue had me chuckling and the romance had me swooning.

This is one of those light romance stories to settle in with after a long day (that’s how i read it actually). It really is a charming story of redemption and honesty and new beginnings.

This is the type of story that I can picture being easily turned into a “made for TV movie” on one of those cable channels.

I recommend this book, this series and this author.

Tess had an absolutely horrible start to her life. Luckily, was able to escape all that. But she has been hiding ever since. Life is better for her this way. She has her books and her friends. That is all she needs. But they don’t really know the real her. She shows them what she wants them to see. Except for Ben. Her best friend, she feels for him like no other. But she can’t let herself feel more.

Ben feels lost. He has always been a protector. With his sister gone, he feels like he failed. Sure, he. Cares about Tess, but the quiet, shy girl doesn’t seem to feel the same. Should he go ahead and tell her once and for all how he really feels? When body parts are found in the around where Tess lives, Ben is sent to help and protect. This gives him new purpose. Can help find out who is behind this? Does he get a chance with Tess?

This is a good paranormal romance with plenty of action. It takes two people who each have their issues, and gives them a chance to become something greater. This is a great formula for an interesting read. But the story doesn’t stop there. There are horrible things happening all around and the culprit may be closer to home than anyone thinks. This part really makes this book so much better. The characters are great — Tess just may be my favorite so far. Plus it shows that they can grow from what they once thought of themselves.

This is a great story and I highly recommend this book and series to those who like creatures, romance, and action all in one book.

Holly Tierney-Bedord definitely has a way with words. The Woman America Loves a Latte is my fourth book by this author and she continues to show her writing style that’s engaging to read. This book is written in various POV’s but I found I was getting a bit lost sometimes and finding it not flowing as well as some of her other reads but I still really enjoyed reading this book and following Vee’s journey. This book has suspense, danger & mystery that captivates you. I really loved reading Vee’s journey especially after everything she has been through with her past and everything with her ex-fiancé, so after everything and then finally something good happens you hope that she will get the HEA she so rightly deserves. The characters emotions were real and while reading it, it made you feel more connected to them and their story.

This is another brilliant read from this author and I can’t wait to see what other stories this author can bring, I know I will not be disappointed and neither will you, don’t miss this book or this author work!

This is a great story with characters that are so enjoyable to read about. I really liked Savannah and how she was portrayed. And I loved the chemistry between her and Preston. Each interaction between them seemed to bring something new.
This book, as with every book o have read by this author is one I have enjoyed from start to finish. I love getting lost in her stories and can’t wait to read more.

Linked: Can Empathy Save the United Terrestrial Democracy? by Gaia Amman is a sci-fi, dystopian tale. Naira is the main character and she finds out she has some special abilities. The problem is she somehow ends up having to be a team with her enemy. Can this help her accomplish her goals of eliminating the President?
This is a fantastic read that kept me reading and wanting more. I like that Amman used her biology background to help with building the story. This helped keep it grounded and not get too far out. This grounding also allowed the characters and story to be familiar on a grand scale. There are similarities that are the very clear as you are reading to current day societal issues and figures in society. The characters are kept in the gray. This is true to real life because often we are presented with gray areas not black and white. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more in the future from this author.

Aubrey Wynne is at it again with “A Wicked Earl’s Widow,” the second book in the Once Upon a Widow series. I unfortunately read these books out of order, but I don’t feel it took away from the book at all. Each story, while having some overlapping characters, are basically standalones and fine to read in any order that I’ve seen so far. In this book we meet Lady Eliza who was forced to marry, as most young women of more noble blood are, Conrad the Count of Sunderland. At his passing soon after their marriage, she is left pregnant and praying that she is safe from her abusive father. Years pass and she is in danger, so she flees to her cousin Grace’s home. Along the way she meets the handsome Nathaniel, Viscount of Pendleton. While Eliza’s story is not an entirely happy one, the story that Aubrey Wynne has created is lovely. I really enjoyed reading about this era and how high society worked back then. The main characters are such a treat to read about even down to the appropriately named blood hound, Cyrano. Nathaniel is a proud, brave man who will do anything to protect those he cares for and makes for a wonderful hero. Overall, a great book to read! Parts of it were a bit upsetting, but it only goes to show the resilience of the characters. So, I give “A Wicked Earl’s Widow” five stars!

The story Taming the Troublemaker (The Hills of Texas Book 3) by Kadie Scott is a contemporary romance book. It is a story that I loved reading. It hooked me in from the beginning and I found myself lost in a wonderful book that I didn’t want to put down until I had finished the last page. I loved reading about the characters of Autry Hill and Beth Cooper. Autry is a man with a reputation when it comes to women. He loves the family ranch and doesn’t think twice accepting a challenge of no women for six months. Winning this challenge will mean that the ranch is his. He believes that the challenge is an easy one. Then he meets Beth. Beth is a teacher. She loves her job. She is intelligent, strong, and caring. She knows about Autry’s reputation and when their paths cross, she knows she shouldn’t get involved with him. There is an attraction between them that is undeniable. She starts to see a different side of him when he works with one of her troubled students. He, however, doesn’t do relationships. He finds that he can’t get her out of his mind. Read this book to find out what happens. I enjoyed reading the bantering back and forth between Autry and Beth. There are other characters that are introduced and I enjoyed reading about them and the part that they play in the story. There were moments that touched my heart and gave me a warm feeling. This is a wonderful book that I would recommend reading.

Seraphina’s time has finally come! This is book 4 in the Seraphina Series. And what an ending this is! This series has been watching Seraphina’s change and growth while she learned to literally take on the world.

Characters from the previous books have returned to help and hinder Sera. In fact, each book picks up where the last one left off. Hutchinson’s world is filled with Angels, Demons and creatures both good and bad, which makes this book and series a must read.

Hutchinson’s writing style through out this book (and series) is easy to read, IF you have read the previous books. I highly recommend this fantasy series and am looking forward to reading more from this author!

Vantage Point by Amy McKinley is book for in the series A Gray Ghost Novel. This book is full of action, suspense, and some romance. Hawk Ares is part of the Gray Ghost team. He values his teammates and sees them as family. Despite this he keeps to himself and is seen as the quiet member. His neighbor, Stella Klein, arouses his attention when she is dealing with some family drama with her brother. Because of her alliance and dedication to her family she gets dragged into a dangerous situation because of her brother.
I have enjoyed other books in this series and as well enjoyed this one. It has a little bit of everything and the suspense keeps me turning pages. I really liked learning more about Hawk and being introduced to Stella. I wanted to see everything work out for Stella and Hawk was in the right place at the right time. I look forward to reading more in this series and like that each book focuses on a different team member.

Another amazing read from this fantastically talented author!! I am so glad that I found this author when I did because I have absolutely loved all of the books that I have read by her. I am always captivated from the beginning until the end.
Devil’s Backbone is the fifth book in the Wild Beasts series but can be read as a standalone. I have to say I’m pretty certain this is my favourite one out of the series! I really enjoy mythology and I have really come to love the twist this author has put on that – she has created real original stories. Tess and Ben’s story was pretty intense and full of action. I really felt for Tess actually and everything that she had been through, I thought that she was a really relatable character. I will be honest I was rooting for Tess and Ben!!
I absolutely recommend this book and the others in the series also! I know that I will be very much looking forward to reading more from this wonderful author again in the future!

It would be easy to compare this book to so many great books to come before it. Divergent, Romeo and Juliet and maybe a dash of A Handmaid’s Tale come to mind. This takes the best part of those stories and turns them into a pure beauty of a novel. While this may be a story of doomed young lovers, it is also about how society judges and how it is slow to adapt, something we could learn from in my opinion. This is the first book in the series and I think it did a great job getting me to be invested in the characters and the situation in which they find themselves. I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat flipping pages to see what was going to happen next and I can’t wait to do it some more in the next book.

North to Nara (Crimson Sash 1) By Amanda Marin was unlike anything I have read before. The way the author grabbed me with her words, her world she created, and such amazing characters I was able to get lost so easily in this amazing world. The society of this book really is what helped draw me in, as it is a dystopian world. I loved the heartbreak, I loved the heartwarming, I loved feeling like I was right in the middle of this amazing book.
When Neve is given her empath is quickly retired, she is given Micah. As they grow closer, she knows that behind his smile, there is a story that tells a tale of loneliness and sadness. She knows empaths are not given the life of love and she has to decide does she follow her heart or the love of her nation?

Not many words stay with me, but, Behind the beauty is heartache…unless their love can save them, has become a favorite quote. An amazing five star read that I HIGHLY recommend.

I downloaded this from KU. It looked like my type of story. Military man and a woman with a great family (I love those secondary characters). That cover drew me in as well! But this one was difficult to read and follow along with the flow of the story. The writing seemed stilted. Many times an action has already happened then it seems to happen again as the next character talks. Once half a chapter was repeated. When conversations are going on sometimes it difficult to figure out who is talking as the conversation moves along. Maybe some she said or Carson/Abby/Logan etc. said periodically would help with the flow. Confused more than once I kept stopping and re-reading to figure out who said what. That just seems to ruin the moment the author is trying to create.

As the story progresses I can’t help but like Carson more and more. Being a career military man he isn’t so stringent. He is good at laughing at himself and having a good time. The only thing that would have made him better was an introduction to his thoughts and feelings about Maggie from the time he met her to his last time with Sean. As a whole I liked his attitude and smile and some of his crazy thoughts. The whole mistletoe thing was great! ( I mean seriously what an awesome idea! Maybe the next holiday party! Yes!). Anyway reading Carson’s thoughts made me smile.

As secondary characters Abby gets the win! She is funny, thoughtful, helpful and always there when needed. She is a perfect secondary who is a joy to read. The other one I enjoyed was Jake. He added some fun times and made me smile for than once. Sasha and Stephen were typical cute kids and Logan is a nice brother who has a few lovely scenes.

This is listed as a fairy tale and if you keep that in mind while reading you can understand why the story is the way it is. I loved the idea of where this was going and with some tweaks it could easily be a higher rating.

This is a wonderful story! I simply loved it! I like that this was set at the town where the Hills live so we are able to enjoy all of them. Autry was a struggle for me to like at the beginning. He really grew and I actually changed my thoughts about him as the story progressed. Beth is a force to be reckoned with! Between her “accidents” and her brain? Do not mess with this woman!! She also has a heart the size of Texas! Actually that’s what gets her Into the most trouble. She has a love of family and I liked that she grew up there and was familiar with Autry and his family. Speaking of family…I LOVED the names of all these kids. Well…the idea behind them. Kudos to the author for thinking this up.

I was easily drawn to these lovely characters. They have fun and yet have some serious moments. I can laugh at brotherly antics or swoon at those hot kisses. I loved these two (Beth and Autry) as well as getting to see more family dynamics. The story was heartwarming. I could hardly put this down it rolled off so nicely. I have a few bookmarks and highlighted passages. This can easily be a stand alone. I have only read the second book in the series although i look forward to reading the first. I can’t wait for the next in the series!

This has been a awesome addition to the series’s which I’ve really enjoyed so far. I’m not usually into this genre history/fantasy but I’m glad i change it up at times as this is a fantastic read it will keep you on your toes and eager to read more. This can be read as a standalone but i highly recommend reading the other’s first. It most definitely toyed with my emotions one minute I’m smiling and laughing out loud the next i have tears in my eyes and reaching for the tissues!!

The story Turning the Tide (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 5) by Phoebe Alexander is a romantic suspense book. It is the next wonderful story in a series that I have loved since reading the first book. The story is entertaining, romantic, and also had me turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. I loved reading about the character of Luke Cannon. He is a man that wonders if he will every experience intimacy or love again. Luke is a character that I grew to care about and I found myself wanting him to find happiness. My heart hurt for him as I read about his life. Luke meets a woman who is independent, caring, compassionate, kind, and beautiful. Read this book to find out what happens next. This is a story that is emotional and mine went up and down the entire book. There are flirty and dirty talking as well as steamy moments that make the temperature in the room rise. I love that this series has characters that are familiar as they have been brought forward from previous books. You can feel the bonds of friendship and the feeling of family between them. I was drawn into the story from the beginning. Don’t miss out on the latest story in a series that includes an exciting club for swingers. Highly recommended reading.

I have mixed emotions about this story. I felt that the story lacked conversations between the characters. There was too much dialogue coming from the characters thoughts. I’m not sure how we got to certain points and situations when no one talked. Well they didn’t talk a lot. With that being said I didn’t find fault in the message the author put in this story. How Annie, Tess and even Ben had to find themselves and learn to love it. How they had to step out of their comfort zones and try new things allow themselves to feel. You do learn a lot about the characters from reading their thoughts. I would’ve like to see more talking to each other so that I could understand the bonds more. It was hard to just go by the emotions that they felt in each others presence.

I never expected to enjoy this entire series as much as I have. Phoebe Alexander is such a fantastic author. I love her voice and take on life and love. This latest installment in her Eastern Shore Swingers series continues the excellence, wittiness, and creativity I have come to expect and enjoy. The characters are relatable and flawed. The situations encountered feel realistic. Overall, another winner from Alexander. Loved it.

Linked: Will Empathy Save the United Terrestrial Democracy? is a thought provoking and engrossing dystopian romance with a dramatic and suspenseful plot- which also has a pointedly political commentary woven into the storyline. It is cleverly crafted with complex and multidimensional characters, a fascinating plot, vivid world building, and many more impactful elements, such as the sci-fi components- which all combined to keep me fully engaged the whole way through. The thought that this story started as a dream the author had had one night, made this story all the more intriguing for me.
This is quite and original story and as everything begins to unfold, I started to realise that there was so mush more to the story, and characters, than had first appeared.
I am really taken with Ms. Amman’s incredible world building- creating a ‘new’ type of human with an intricately detailed history, names, and even a language. I found that to be quite genius and incredibly imaginative. It was so well written that it was very realistic and believable.
There were times the character/s frustrated me, but that was mostly because I had become invested in her/them and the outcome of the story. It was a little ‘dark’ at times, but this was well balanced with lighter, funny moments- and the romance.
I also feel this story would make a great movie or even a television mini-series.

The Dirty Rooster by Kelly Mooney. This is a story that hits a few emotions while your reading it. Preston is a trust fund baby who still helps out at his family’s bar, the Dirty Rooster. He sleeps around and doesn’t form attachments. Summer is the exact opposite, and you know what they say about opposites attracting right… The story line is well written and as the story progresses you are curious how it will end. I didn’t feel the need to finish it right away however I was hooked enough to read it in one sitting.

Four Stars

North of Nora presents a time that I would never like to see. A time where we are under dictatorship. I never want to be put in a position where it could mean life or death. Where my freedom is taken and I am marked as a traitor. Micah is a strong and brave character and I liked him more when he stood up for Neve. The whole story was deep and slightly emotional. You have these teens that just want to live but there are laws and people to fear. The author really makes you think with this story. Not only because of the outcome or the steps taken to get there. But because this could very well be our reality. This could happen to us. The author plays with you for a while and then does the unexpected. Yeah I’m hooked on this story.

Vantage Point (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 4) By Amy McKinley. Once again I’m blown away by this author and this series. If it’s got some romance, suspense and action count me it, and again this book didn’t disappoint. From page one I knew I was in for a adventure with Hawk and Stella, they completely drew me into their story. The chemistry between the characters jumps off the page. The author does a wonderful job of writing a story that comes alive before your eyes and you forget your reading. It’s well written and paced nicely. I’m giving this story a five star review and highly recommend it.

Yearning Young by Deidre Huesmann is book 2 in the Burning Britely series. This book is a rollercoaster of raw emotions. The feelings in this book will take you through all the feels. The characters are complex and well developed. The story makes you want to be young and in love trying to figure out this world again. I enjoyed this book even more than the first, and these are some of my favorite characters I’ve read recently. I give this book a solid 5 stars and cant wait to see what this author does next. Again amazing read!
