This is a great rock star romance with lots of heat. Although book 4 in the ‘Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star’ series, it can be read as a standalone story, however some of the characters do overlap. For Brittany it was a one night stand with a sexy well known rock star, no strings attached and definitely no feelings. For Lyrical Odyssey’s guitarist Brooks it was another one off, one night only encounter with a women, after all he doesn’t like them to get to clingy. However when Brittany and Brook spend a fun night and unusually for Brooks a morning together with plenty of sex involved, neither of them can deny their chemistry, which literally sizzles of the page. Brittany does not believe in love but Brooks can not get Brittany and the night they shared together out of his mind.
I loved both the main characters, and their chemistry led to some very hot and steamy scenes between the pair but there was also plenty of romance and some great narrative between the couple. I liked how the book was written from both their point of views which made both the characters come alive more for me. I was happily immersed in Brittany and Brooks story and am keen to read the previous books in the series.

This is a dark romance suspense book that I loved from beginning to end. This is an author that I have read many books from, she continues to impress me with her attention to details in her stories. I was pulled right into this story from the beginning with the characters. I had no problem connecting with them and they made the story feel real. Orla is a reporter that is determined to find out two things: 1. Stop the distribution of a new drug, 2. Find the vigilante who has their own brand of justice. The vigilante and Orla have a couple of things in common, stopping this new drug and each other. She needs to learn to trust him but will she? Is love enough to survive or will secrets take them down? I loved both of these characters and their chemistry is off the charts. They had me turning pages fast as well as the twist and turns you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Figure in the Flames is a collection of books 1-3 in the Hero High Series by Mina Chara. I love that she made it into a boxset, because the books are cliffhangers, and I believe, should be all 1 book. Its 3 parts to the same story. I highly recommend this series, I’ve really enjoyed it. This is the first time reading this author, but I look forward to more. When I first started the series, I thought it was going to be cheesy because of the names of the city and characters. They were not very original, using names like Super Structure, Hero High, and Captain Fantastic. Despite that, I am glad I stuck out the story because I ended up loving it. The writing style is very descriptive and you feel like you’re right there alongside the characters. It seems like The Incredibles meets XMen.
The series starts out with Denial, which follows 17 year old Friday, who has super powers. She is shipped off to Hero High, which is a school for those with powers, but doubles as a reality show. They are followed by cameras, and merchandise is made to look like them and sold in the malls. These super kids are assigned a team and a mentor, have their wardrobes picked for them, the whole nine yards. They are constantly being filmed,dressed up for photo shoots and whisked off to PR events. Friday is trying to stay in the shadows, but keeps finding herself in the spotlight.
The next book is Anger, and it picks up right where Denial left off. This book is very short, and I read it in 1 night. This story continues telling us of Friday’s life at Hero High. There isn’t a lot I can tell you without possible spoiler alerts. Friday comes in contact with the new Dr. Dangerous again, and things escalate quickly. She is still looking up to her mentor Sense. And the weird love/hate relationship between Friday and Ashley continues.
Bargaining is book 3 was my favorite of the three. There is so much going on in this book! So many shocks and surprises, action packed. Friday wanted to stay in the background, but since day 1 has been up front and center. She feels like everything is going wrong. She keeps fighting with her best friend, and handler, Jake. Dr Dangerous, a superhero who is supposed to be dead, seems to have resurfaced (or a copycat) and has a fixation on her. And there is a man in flames that keeps showing up and causing trouble. There are so many shockers in this story, I don’t want to give anything away. I highly recommend and cannot wait to see what happens next.

This is the first book that I have read in this series unfortunately. It’s really good and I will definitely go back and start at the beginning. It can be read as a stand-alone. There are parts that allude to events in prior books but nothing that will confuse you. This story is about Brittany and Brook.

A year prior they had a one night stand both agreeing that there would be no second time. Where matters of love are concerned, the heart doesn’t care. After Izzy and Dawson’s wedding, they hooked up again. The passion between them skyrocketed and the chemistry flew off the charts. Each has a hard time admitting their feelings and misunderstandings arise. Can they overcome their problems and have a happily ever after?

The writing is good and the story is interesting. I really loved Brittany and Brooks and was rooting for them from the start. Turn Up the Tempo is a very sexy story that will get your blood pumping.

Finding Leda: The Science of Happiness is the first book in the Italian College series part of The Italian Saga by Gaia B Amman. This time Leda is in college and trying to find herself. She is smart, funny, and realistic. She is pulled in many directions. Does she follow her heart and Sergio or stay focused on her studies? This is a fantastic book, part of The Italian Saga series, which takes you from Leda’s childhood on. Leda is an amazing character because she is relatable and realistic. She deals with issues any female today comes across. She also is human and makes mistakes and has to figure out how to correct herself. I look forward to reading more of Leda’s adventures and see where her life continues to take her.

This author once again has shown what an extraordinary way with words she has. She continues to captivate me with the stories she creates and this one is no different. She creates brilliant characters and storylines every time, she brings you along on the journey and makes you feel as though you are there alongside the characters living out their story! I loved following Leda’s journey in this read maybe even more than her previous journey’s in the other books. I can’t wait to see where Leda’s journey goes next!

This novel was written as true crime story so there was lots of information given but for me there was just too much information it made the book hard to read for me and I kept wanting to skip lots of the book, I didn’t really like the style of writing and all in the book just wasn’t for me at all, but others may find it enjoyable.

And The River Runs Deep: The Cold Case Murder Mystery of Leah Marcus by A.J. Ullman is a gripping novel. Based on true events this book is focused on the murder of a young teen girl and the lives of those caught up in the event.
This book had me absolutely hooked right from the start. I love true crime stories and this has got to be one of the most intriguing I have read. The author has done an incredible job of making it a story worth reading while also keeping it clear that this is about a real person.
It was so easy to connect with all the characters. I was instantly part of the story. I liked even more that this is a case I hasn’t heard of before so I had no clue as to what the outcome would be. This is such a well written and unputdownable book, I would highly recommend it!

I found myself enjoying these books, even though it is a genre I don’t usually read. Friday is attending Hero High which simultaneously films a reality TV show. While her superpower isn’t one of the big flashy ones, she needs to find a way to make the producers (and audience) notice her and want her to be in a better grouping. While navigating the school aspect, she also has personal relationship drama with her best friend, new relationships to build with her mentor and other students, and a mysterious figure in the flames which keeps making appearances in her life.
This is definitely young adult…but it was a nice break from some of the other heavy stuff I read. I was pulled into the futuristic world and added drama of the reality tv show (like Big Brother). The series is not over…so I will be waiting to see what happens next.

Forgotten Truth by Virginia Wine is the first book in the Forgotten Trilogy. This is a great book that had a lot more to it than I was expecting.
This is the first time I have ever had to choose which version of a book that I wanted – PG or hot and steamy. Naturally I went for the hit and steamy version and it was definitely that. Some of the scenes really had me on the edge of my seat.
And yet what I liked the most is that the book wasn’t all about that – it had a great story to it as well. It was a strong storyline with characters to match. I really found myself getting into it.
After reading this book I am definitely looking forward to reading book 2!

I absolutely loved this book! From beginning to end I was completely captivated. The characters were brilliant – Nathaniel was everything that I wanted him to be and I love Bryer – she was confident, sassy with a slight naivety and defensiveness towards relationships because of her past. They both had a great amount of chemistry and I was rooting for them the whole way through! I had so many emotions whilst reading this story and the author did a really good job with bringing these out in the characters. This author isn’t new to me so I knew I would be in for a good read and I can 100% say this is going to be one fantastic trilogy!
I cannot wait to read the second book in the trilogy!!!

O MG! I SO enjoyed this story!! I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to read this author. The story was deep and fulfilling. The characters are simply wonderful. I love Britt and Brooks. They are uncomfortable with relationships but are all about the one night stand. They have met up in previous stories and I have not read those books. I had no problem following along. Anyway each of these characters are unsure about going forward. I loved following along with their story..each fighting against themselves for their ultimate happiness.

The boys in the band?!? Those guys are like family but have all that sexiness. They seem to have a wonderful dynamic. I can’t wait for Maddox!!

Spouse Trap starts out with the main character, Madeline, waking up in a hotel room with no idea how she got there or what happened. She goes home only to be confronted by her husband claiming she cheated on him, he has evidence, and their marriage is over. Determined to prove her innocence, Madeline searches for clues as to what actually happened that night. As the pieces start coming together, a picture is painted that is full of treachery and deceit that rocks her to the core. As she continues to figure out the whole picture, she finds herself in situation where her sanity and life are in danger. Without giving anything away, you will find yourself at the edge of your seat wondering how she is going to get through it all.

This book hooked me from the beginning. I found myself rooting for Madeline and watching her evolve as the story goes on. Instead of lying down and taking what the world is throwing at her, she stands up and fights while finding out she is stronger than they thought she was. A great story that is thrilling and full of suspense. I enjoyed every second of it!

Another good one by Charli B. Rose. As with the previous books I was immediately hooked on the story and needed to find out what would happen. Here we meet Brooks, the bassist for Lyrical Odyssey and Brittany, Izzy’s best friend, who we have met briefly before. I understand why both characters are not into or looking for love at this moment in their lives, due to the many issues each of them are facing but, sometimes you can’t predict when love will hit you. When they have one steamy night together, they both go their separate ways and move on, but neither could stop thinking about that night, and a chance meeting again has their relationship going all different directions. I was extremely happy when Brooks realized that he loved Brittany and wanted to be with her, but the lack of communication between the two, left my heart cracking sometimes. The trials both of them have to face, and their inner demons, it was beautiful to watch them both grow and come to each other.
This book can be read as a stand alone but I would recommend the series, as you meet the secondary characters throughout each book. I would highly recommend this book, it has just the right amount of steamy romance, sweet love, heartbreaking moments and drama. I look forward to what comes next.

Turn up the Tempo (Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star Series Book 4) by Charli B Rose. I loved this book! Its a contemporary romance about Brittany who doesn’t do relationships. She has been so hurt in the past that she just does one night stands. No feelings, no attachments, no emotions. Brooks is a rock star that doesn’t have time for relationships so he doesn’t do anything but hookups. So when Brooks and Brittany meet at a party they go into a one night stand with it being just that, one night. When they see each other at a wedding months later they realize they can’t get the other out of their minds. Was it more than just a hook up? The chemistry between the two is HOT and they fight it with all they have. Miscommunication and emotions lead to tears and fighting the chemistry between them leave them frustrated. Finding Leda; the Science of Happiness (Italian College Novel 1, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B Amman. I love this series and each book gets better than the next. This is the continuing story of Leda Balni who is in college studying Engineering and trying to navigate the world of boys, books and friends. Throw love in there and she’s got her hands full. Sergio has captured her heart and she doesn’t like it because she doesn’t have time for that nonsense. She wants to focus on Engineering, volleyball and a band. Sergio has taken over her brain and she doesn’t know what to do with it. Is love really necessary? I have loved getting to know Leda and her friends and all the fun they have. These books will make you laugh, cry and get angry. I recommend reading the first books to know what is going on but you can read this as a standalone. I can’t wait for the next book!

I loved reading the book Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 1) by India Kells. It is a story that includes action, danger, and romance. It is a book that is entertaining and highly addictive to read. I love the character of Orla Karlsen. She is a reporter who is intelligent, strong, independent, and a fighter. She is working on a story about a new drug that is about to overtake Chicago. Her second agenda is trying to uncover a person who is dispensing their own type of justice, the Vigilante. The Vigilante is also trying to stop the same new drug from claiming lives. They both have a common goal. They start working together. There is a connection forming between them. They can’t seem to stay away from each other. What does the future hold for them? Read this book to find out. I love that this story has a strong female character who won’t back down and is determined to find the truth about the drug that is coming to Chicago. You can’t help but root for her to succeed. Other characters interact with Orla and the Vigilante and I enjoyed reading about them. Then there are the characters who don’t care who they hurt. Will their plans succeed? This is a story that had me turning pages to find out what happens next and I didn’t want to put it down until I had finished the final page. I highly recommend reading it.

This is a wonderful anthology that has different authors retelling the story of Hansel and Gretel. I loved reading every one of the stories. The authors have done an amazing job of making the characters in each story come alive. I felt like I was right there with them. The stories included deception, danger, and some gave me a scare. I love anthologies because I get to read stories by authors that I am familiar with as well as being introduced to new authors as well. The stories pulled me in and I didn’t want to put them down until I had read the final page. These stories also have emotional and romantic moments. I found this group of stories to be entertaining and intriguing. There were times when I would say to myself “that didn’t just happen, did it?” The authors have done an amazing job of writing their version of Hansel and Gretel. I would highly recommend reading these stories.

This was such a good book! I already can’t wait to dive into the next one.
The sex scenes in this are hot hot hot! Bryer and Nathan have an insane chemistry you could just feel through your screen.
This story has a little of everything, neither is wanting a relationship for one reason or another, each has their own reasons, suspense and of course the romance!
Highly recommend!

Forgotten Truth Trilogy: Book One by Virginia Wine is the first book in The Forgotten Trilogy. There are two versions of this book to choose from the original version is more erotic while the second version is sweet and sensual.

This book has a little bit of everything. There is passion, mystery, and angst. You can’t put it down! I enjoyed following Nathan and Bryer’s relationship. Nathan couldn’t help but want to change his ways when it came to Bryer. I was pretty invested in their relationship so I had to keep reading. I highly recommend this book! I can’t wait to read book two.

This is my first book by Virginia Wine. This story had everything you’re looking for- love, trust, betrayal, mystery, secrets and someone you can count on. I enjoyed the word building and the characters so much. I cannot wait to see where Virginia takes this story next. She’s amazing and this book was worth more than 5 stars!

My brain is still spinning. Hester is incredibly gifted at weaving a mesmerizing tale with fantastic twists and turns that will keep you glued to your seat as well as keep you guessing. I was simply spellbound. Loved it and will absolutely read anything else I can get my hands on from this author.

I have loved each of these books individually and found the story to develop beautifully over the course of the series. Friday is a great main character. This is not your ordinary superhero tale. Once you start book one, you will want to read the rest. This box set is a must read. Look forward to reading more from this author.

Forgotten Truth (Forgotten #1) by Virginia Wine was a great 5 star read.

Bryer is starting over after a horrible experience of finding her fiance in bed with another woman. She has this personal trainer that has gotten her attention in many ways. She finally decides to take the first step and ask him out.

Nathan isn’t the type of guy to have more than one night with a woman. However..there is something about Bryer that calls to him. Sensing that he shouldn’t take things fast with her, he tries to be considerate and go slow with her. As they move forward something from Nathan’s past comes back to haunt him.

What will happen when Bryer learns about Nathan’s secret?

Overall this was a great read. I really liked Bryer’s thoughts, especially the ones about Nathan. She was a great strong character. I really liked her friend Gen. Nathan grew on me and by the end I loved him. I was pulled in by Virgiinia’s writing and didn’t want to stop until I was done. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings for this couple. Hero High: Figure in the Flames contains the first three books in the Hero High series by Mina Chara. This is a Young Adult fantasy adventure story set in a ‘superhero’ high school- full of action, adventure, friendship, coming of age, danger, discovery, superheros, super-villains, reality TV, fame, responsibility, angst, and a little romance. The story set in a near future world, Icon City, and follows Friday Fitzsimmons on an incredible adventure.
When 17 year old Friday develops ‘powers’ she is sent to Hero High, where reality TV and superhero high school collide- and where Friday’s adventures begin. Get set for things to get interesting…..
So, if you love young adult reads with fantasy, adventure, and superheroes- then this is definitely a series you won’t want to miss.

Forgotten Truth Trilogy: Book One (The Forgotten Trilogy 1) by Virginia Wine and I am torn in my rating of this book. Why? The story was interesting and full of suspense and there is a lot to keep you intrigued but I found it hard to gel with the characters. I felt they could have been more and I was not able to relate to them. I like them, don’t get me wrong but I just needed more from them. The story is fast paced but interesting and Virginia’s writing style held my attention but I would have loved to have a bit more information and background. Definitely a good start to a series and I will definitely be looking for book two to see what happens!

3.5-4 stars
