Salty Sebastian (Smirk Series book 3) by Jen Luerssen – Review by Michelle Austin

Salty SebastianSalty Sebastian by Jen Luerssen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Salty Sebastian was a great 5 star read. And book three in the Smirk Series.

While in Vegas for a wine convention Kit meets Sebastian. He sort of saves her from a humiliating hook up that gave me a LOL moment. After a few hours of flirting they end up having a hot and steamy evening.

Fate steps in and two years later Kit ends up getting hired by Sebastian’s partner to work an internship at their winery. She has a dream to run her own winery one day. Sebastian has always kept boundaries with the interns, will he be able to with Kit? Can these two have a future?

I’m on track now and I”m not letting a one-night stand in Vegas derail me. Even the hottest night of my life -Kit

I really loved Kit she had me lol so many times. I loved the nickname she came up with for Sebastian as well, it fit perfectly. Sebastian was an alpha male with a dominant side to him. Kit really pushed his buttons at times. The connection these two had was great. If you’re looking for a great romance with some lol moments this is the book for you. Jen does a great pulling you in with her writing. I look forward to reading more from her.

Shattered (The Torzial Affair Book 1)Shattered by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shattered was a great 5 star read and book one in The Torzial Affair series.
I was pulled right in from the beginning and couldn’t put it down until I was done. This is even better than the first series and I loved that one as well.

Jenny and Brian meet while they are best man and maid of honor for their best friends wedding. They have an instant connection that gets a little heated, Brian does something that triggers an unexpected reaction from Jenny and she flees.

He is intrigued by her and wants to know more about her and why she fled. He typically doesn’t want anything more than one night but something is different this time.

Jenny owns Torzial and she doesn’t really know who Brian is. He’s got a lot more power than she realizes. She was instantly attracted to him and when these two reconnect we get quite the hot and steamy scenes.

There is so much going on and my emotions were all over the place. There are some things from the past that come up and create challenges. I really loved both Brian and Jenny they really complimented each other. I will also say that there are some scenes that may be triggers for some. All of the secondary characters were great. Via does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing. I highly recommend this series and the one prior you will love them. I look forward to reading more from this author.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unraveled was a great 5 star read.

You get pulled right in from the beginning with Layla getting some shocking news and discovering her boyfriend cheating on her when she needed his support. She makes a decision that will take her on a new journey in her life.

Kellan’s ex shows up at a bar he’s at, it’s been six years and it’s definitely not a coincidence.
Russ comes up with a plan to help his friend Kellan by calling his sister Layla. When Layla walks in he is stunned at how beautiful she is and she’s pretending to be his girlfriend. He was instantly attracted to her and wanted more with her.

This story takes right off from here and I will warn that you will need a lot of kleenex. I’m emotionally exhausted after this book. All of the secondary characters were great, they all added a good element to the story. There are so many great elements to this story. Going through the journey with Layla and Kellan gives you such a realistic view on what people go through and the daily struggles. You can’t help but wonder if there will be a HEA for these two. If you’re looking for a great emotional read, this is the book for you. Aubrey does a great job with her writing and I can’t wait to read more from her. 1-click and get started today.

Out of the Box CollectionOut of the Box Collection by Jennifer Theriot
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Out of the Box Collection that features Out of the Box Awakening, Out of the Box Regifted and Out of the Box Everlasting was a 5+ read. My emotions were all over the place and I needed several kleenex to make it through.

We start with Olivia moving to Chicago to be with her husband who just transferred for work. When she gets there his friend Ash is the one who picks her up. And of course her husband conveniently seems to be out of town, alot. She starts to see a side to Ash that is something that she never had with her husband, they enjoy each others company but never cross a line. When Olivia gets some devastating news, Ash is there for her. Can there possibly be a future for these two?

As we move forward through all three books we see so many different levels of life experiences with twists and turns. There is tragedy and some hidden secrets that resurface. I really was rooting for Olivia to find the happiness that she truly deserved and Ash tugged at my heartstrings. All of the secondary characters were great, I loved all the kids and the band members. I did not care for Olivia’s husband and his actions. This story really makes you think about things as you are getting older. You don’t realize how much you rely on some people until they are no longer there and you are left trying to rebuild. The details of the story were amazing and pulled me right in. Having all three books at once was great, I didn’t have to wait to find out what was coming next. If you’re looking for a great second chance romance series, this is a must read. I highly suggest 1-clicking and getting started as soon as you can.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dracones Guardian: Dark Dragon was a great 5 star read. This is a great paranormal/fantasy romance. Once I started I couldn’t put it down.

This is a great story with Zander and Chloe. Zander is an archangel committed to keeping people safe from fallen angels. When he ends up on earth he has his children to keep safe. Than he meets Chloe. There is something about her that draws him in. The thing is, she is human. Things take a serious turn when an enemy makes themselves known.

Can Zander keep everyone safe? Can he have more with Chloe?

My emotions were all over the place. The author did a great job with the detail and pulling you right into the scenes, I felt like I was right there at times. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tracking Numbers was a great 5 star read and book one in the Lost Boys MC series. I love MC and I was pulled right into this story.

Tracker is assigned to protect Kerri by her father. Kerri is very strong, spunky and quite the handful for him. The bantering between these two was great. There is an instant connection between them.

Tracker is a hot alpha male who found help from Kerri’s father when he was young. He eventually joined the King’s Knights. Kerri always told herself she wasn’t going to fall for a biker but when she met Tracker, there was something different about him. He was determined to show her he wasn’t like the rest of them.

Beckoned, Part 6: Adrift in New Zealand was a great 5 star read.
This series has pulled me in more and more with each part I read and now I’m sad to see it end. My emotions were all over the place once again. I was excited to see how Soren’s story would end and I wasn’t disappointed.

Sorens story continues, he gets a great opportunity to run a hotel in New Zealand. While there he runs into a couple of women from his past. This throws him off and brings up so old feelings.

What will Soren do? Can he finally get a HEA?

I love Soren and only wanted the best for him. This can be read as a stand alone but I suggest reading the first five parts first to get the whole story. MaddJax Series, Boxed Series Set (Book 1 & 2) was a great 5 star read.
I was excited to read these first two books in the series. I was pulled right in and didn’t want to stop until I was done.

Maddison and Jaxon had a steamy encounter when they were young, then Jaxon left town breaking her heart. When Jaxon’s dad weds Maddison’s step sister, it causes them to be step-siblings which adds a twist to the story. Now he’s back in her life acting like nothing happened working as co-CEO to the family business and wants her back. He is determined to show her that he’s back for good and will never hurt her again.

Will she let her walls down and let him back in? Can they have a HEA?

Edge of the Storm was a great 5 star read and book two in the Silent Secrets series by Lisette Kristensen.

She hit like a hammer, and was deadly like a rifle.

I love Blackbird (Sloane), she is an extremely strong character and knows how to take care of things. We continue with her story and as she finishes her training she is paired up with Halo.

We get a little glimpse at Adam, who Sloane has developed a little crush on during her training. But fraternization is forbidden.

Blackbird and Halo end up in Rome, when something goes wrong and Halo goes missing Blackbird is part of the search team. We get a lot of non stop action and edge of your seat moments. Can Blackbird and her team find Halo before it’s too late? Can they stop the terrorists plans?

The sad thing about betrayal, it never comes from the enemy.

Overall this was a thrilling read. This cannot be read as a stand alone or you will be completely lost. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. Drawing Bloodlines was a great 5 star read and book one in The Princeton Allegiant series.
This is my first read from Deborah Garland and I loved it. I’ve gotten away from the vampire reads but Deborah has pulled me back into the genre with this book.

We start with Elizabeth at the OBGYN, and I had so many LOL moments with her thoughts. When she meets Dr. Alexander Manning during her blood draw, she has even more thoughts that seem to cause him to react in certain ways. After the draw she is a little dizzy and finds herself walking into a room and witnessing something that can’t be right, she must have been hallucinating, or was she?

Alexander was having a hard time resisting Elizabeth. Her scent was drawing him in and he had to taste her blood. Now he has a problem that he needs to figure out how to fix before it’s too late. When he goes to her home he encounters something he didn’t expect from her, she wanted him even after what she saw.

Faith decides to take a break from acting and goes to her grandmother’s home in Sonoma Valley. This is where she sees a man she hasn’t talked to in 20 years, someone who brings lots of feelings back for her.

Cole Cooper was someone who played a big part in Faith’s teenage years. They were always together. While she was gone to Hollywood he would check in on her Grandmother and visit with her. He was a stuntman who has taken a break from the scene to run his ranch and winery.

Cole and Faith end up spending time together, she also meets someone important to Cole that really threw her off. When Cole and Faith find themselves being offered an opportunity to work on a film together, things get interesting from here.

My eyes must have been panicked because he leaned in and whispered, “I won’t let you fall.” Stupid man. It was too late for that. I’d fallen for him at the age of seventeen.

We get danger, teary eyed moments, steamy moments and unexpected twist and turns. I loved all of the secondary characters and would love to see more from some of them. Temptation and SeductionTemptation and Seduction by L.M. Mountford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Temptation and Seduction was a steamy 5+ star read. This was a great compilation of hot and steamy short stories.

Just Once is a friends to lovers read.
Faye and Terry grew up together, they were close friends throughout their childhood. When Faye finally decides to make the first move things take a steamy twist. I have to say that I would love to read more on these two, I didn’t like the way it ended, I need more.

Valentine Misadventure
Sophie and her bodyguard are at a club enjoying themselves, they have taken things further into a steamy relationship. When her father’s men show up things take a scary twist, can they have a good Valentines day?

Play Time
James is a college student who meets a very sexy woman who isn’t shy about what she wants from him. After he goes home with her, things take a very interesting twist.

Stepdaddy’s Bad Girl
This story had me cringing at times. Eric comes across to me as a dirtbag arrogant stepfather. When he hears his step daughter trying to sneak out he decides to teach her a lesson. This is a very dark and twisted read that may have triggers for some. I have to say I love the dark and taboo but this was violent to an extent that I was a little uncomfortable.

Sweet Temptations
Richard encounters a very flirty babysitter. She is very straightforward about what she wants from him, and he can’t stop fantasizing about her. Can he resist or will he break his vows?

Sweet Temptation (The Boss’s Daughter)
Richard is once again being tempted, this time by his Boss’s daughter. Will he stay strong or will he give into temptation?

I overall really enjoyed these short stories, I”m not sure I would classify it as erotica. I wouldn’t mind reading more from some of these characters. I would like some back story to learn more and others moving forward. I will warn that some of the scenes can get graphic and I would recommend 18+ readers.

Ian Chase met Cassie six years prior and was smitten with her, seeing her again now has brought the feelings back and he starts to pursue her. Ian is an ex-Navy Seal who owns his own successful private security team and I might add is extremely hot.

Cassie remembers meeting Ian but had suffered a traumatic event that has caused her to shut down and have panic attacks. She’s afraid to get close to anyone for fear of rejection.

You won’t like me once you know what I am – Cassie

There is a huge twist at a charity event that had my emotions all over the place. I will warn it does get graphic and had me cringing at times. My heart went out to Cassie and everything that she went through. I was on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole time waiting to see what was coming next. Can Ian and his team keep Cassie safe? Will Cassie finally let Ian into her heart?

There is so much more to this read. I loved all of the characters, they all added great elements to the story. Some I didn’t care for, some I loved. I can’t wait to see more from several of them. I was pulled in right from the beginning, Sloane’s husband has turned on the family which means they must die. Sloane had no idea her husband was going to do what he did and she refused to go into protective custody, so she runs. She ends up going to an old friend for help, who sends her to a very unexpected place. I definitely did not see this piece coming and I’m still not sure where some of it connects, but I will say there were some mighty steamy scenes.

Never attract attention to yourself. Never give them anything to remember you by.

As we move more into the story, Sloane learns exactly what is expected of her and becomes one heck of a tough girl. This is a short read that includes two of the books from the series. There were several great characters. The story did seem to move really fast at times and I would have liked to have seen a little more of the Chateau Imperium and Bettino, overall I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more from this author and series.

Heart of Stone: Emery & Jackson (Heart of Stone Series Book 1) by Chiquita Dennie – Review by Michelle Austin

(Heart of Stone Series Book #1) Emery&Jackson(Heart of Stone Series Book #1) Emery&Jackson by Chiquita Dennie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Heart of Stone – Book 1: Emery & Jackson was a good 4 star read.
This is a contemporary romance that pulled me right in.

Emery had a not so great past of getting hurt so she was guarded. She also has a secret that she hopes will stay hidden, but will it?
Jackson has a playboy rep and when he meets Emery he is pulled in by her, he really liked her and was great at trying to get through her walls.

Things take an interesting twist when both of their pasts make an appearance. Can they have a HEA?

We get some very steamy moments along with some unexpected twist and turns. I really liked Emery and Jackson, you could feel their chemistry coming off the pages. All of the secondary characters were great, I especially loved Grandma, she had me LOL so many times. We also got a glimpse into some other couples and I look forward to seeing more from them in the series. This was a great start to the series and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. 1-click and get started today.
