A Terrible Beauty (Fallen Eagles MC) by T. Birmingham – Review by Michelle Austin

A Terrible Beauty (Fallen Eagles MC Book 1)A Terrible Beauty by T. Birmingham
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Terrible Beauty was a good 4 star read and book one in the Fallen Eagles MC series.

We skip from past to present in some scenes as Kit remembers things. Kit chose to serve her country ten years ago, something terrible happened that caused her to come home a different person. She was no longer Summer she was Kit, she also pushed away the one man that had her heart, Lee. She is now a highly respected member of the Fallen Eagles MC.

Lee also served in the war and had his own issues here and there. His biggest was not understanding the change in the love of his life, not having her confide in him and talk to him, feeling like she’s a million miles away.

That feeling of helplessness when you were supposed to be a protector was the worst.

When a blackmailer starts sending threatening notes to people, Kit realizes it’s time to tell everyone what happened. She’s a fighter and refuses to allow anyone to threaten her.

What will happen when the truth is revealed? Will she lose Lee forever? Who is the blackmailer?

There is so much more to this good read. The secrets revealed were shocking and heartbreaking. Kit also suffers from PTSD along with some of the others from her group. There are also some scenes that could cause triggers for some. This author pulled me right in with her writing and I had some teary eyed moments. I look forward to reading more from her.

Alive (Sundown Series Book 3)Alive by Courtney Konstantin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Alive was a thrilling 4 star read and book three in the Sundown series.
This isn’t my usual type of read however, I was pulled in right from the beginning, this is a zombie, post-apocalyptic themed story that has lots of danger, action and so much more.

Rafe and Charlie work at a facility that does top secret testing. After a plague breaks out in the facility they find themselves fighting for their lives from several entities. Both characters are strong in their own ways. There are several twists and turns.

Will these two be able to find safety before it’s too late?

Courtney Konstantin does a great job with her detail in the story, I felt like I was right there with the characters. This is my first read from her and it was great. I look forward to reading more. If you like post-apocalyptic zombie stories you will like this book.

Surviving Eden (Surviving Series Book 1)Surviving Eden by Virginia Wine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Surviving Eden was a great 5 star read.
We start out in the past with a heartbreaking scene involving Theo and his family.
We jump ahead to present day, he is now a psychiatrist. When Theo gets a call about a tragic accident involving his best friend and wife the past memories come rushing back to him.

When he sees Eden at the funeral he has a connection with her, he understands her pain. He quickly leaves knowing he needs to get away from her. There is something about her that he can’t get out of his mind, an attraction he knows isn’t right. When fate brings her to his office things take a twist and get even more interesting.

Will these two be able to help heal each other’s hearts? Can they have a HEA?

I really enjoyed this book, I was pulled right in and didn’t want to stop until I was done. I really liked Theo and Eden. Theo was a straightforward man he never led anyone on as to what he wanted in the bedroom, and boy were there some hot scenes. Eden was great as well, she was determined to get answers to her questions no matter what. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. I can’t wait to read more from these two and this series.

The Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore – Review by Michelle Austin

The Mother-in-LawThe Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Mother-in-Law was a thrilling and creepy 5 star read.

Victoria and Brad met in Las Vegas during training and end up with a quicky wedding. Brad takes Victoria home to Florida where she meets his mom and son, Andy. Lets just say his mother is quite interesting.

The home they have is right on the beach and is beautiful. Victoria is ready to move forward with her new family, but mother has other plans. And she finds out from Brad that mommie dearest owns the house they are all living in she is not happy. This could not be happening -Victoria

Things seem to go well for awhile than all heck breaks loose. Be prepared for some twists and turns and edge of your seat moments. I was floored at some of the things that happened.

I instantly disliked Brad’s mother, she was controlling and evil. I didn’t like how she treated Andy at all. Brad also pushed my buttons as well, it was like he just didn’t get what was happening at times and he needed a backbone when it came to his mother. The ending OMG, I didn’t see any of it coming. This is my first read from Judy Moore and I was pulled right in, I can’t wait to read more from her.

Player (21st Century Courtesan #1)Player by Pamela DuMond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Player was a great 5 star read and book one in the 21st Century Courtesan series. I was pulled right in from the beginning with a childhood memory that was heartbreaking for Evie. I actually finished this book in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down.

I am not a rickety shed. Will I survive the storm that blows through? -Evie

Evie is a teacher trying to take care of her mother and sister and is barely paying off her student loans. A friend offers her an opportunity to make some good money, at first she turns it down but quickly changes her mind.

She is now a very popular escort in Chicago with Ma Maison. There are several people interested in Evie. Evie is considered a problem solver and can help people. She was just about to take a 30 day leave to spend time with her family but she was personally requested by someone who needed her badly. Dylan is desperate for her help, she goes with him to a high-stakes poker party and things progressed from there. Things take an interesting twist for Evie with her family, and an unexpected stalker.

I really liked Evie’s story. There is something about her that drew me right in. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. We get past and present POV’s which added to the story as well. This is my first read from Pamela and I loved it, she pulls you right in with her writing. The ending isn’t what I expected and now I’m anxiously awaiting the next book to see what happens. If you’re looking for a different type of read with danger, sex, love and so much more I highly recommend this book.

Paladin's Hell: Satan's Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) #1Paladin’s Hell: Satan’s Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) #1 by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Paladin’s Hell was a great 5 star read and book one in the Colorado Chapter.
You get pulled in right from the beginning.

Paladin first met Jayden when he carried her from a nightmare and into safety at the club. She is the sister of the president’s old lady. There is something about Jayden that is pulling Paladin in. Because of her age Paladin has been told that Jayden needs to be legal before he can be with her. Keeping things on a friends level has been hard.

Now it seems danger is lurking in the shadows, someone is coming for Jayden. Paladin agrees to take Jayden to another chapter to keep her safe. Things take an interesting and dangerous twist at the new club. Will Pal be able to keep Jay safe? Can they finally be together?

What I loved is that Paladin had a secret that Jayden was pleasantly surprised about. Any doubts I’d had that he was the one for me had been swept away – Jay

I was excited to get to read their story and I wasn’t disappointed. We also get to know several other characters, especially the new club pres and his wife. We get flashbacks from past to present. We also get a HEA but it definitely wasn’t an easy road. Manda does a great job with her writing, she pulls you right in. I can’t wait to read more from this series.

The Lies We TellThe Lies We Tell by Brittany Butler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Lies We Tell was a great 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning and didn’t stop until I was done.

I’m Natalie Conner, and I’m a liar.

Natalie is a writer, we start in the very beginning with her as a runaway bride, leaving Jack behind. We then jump ahead to her at a party where she meets a hot british man, Collin who is also a writer and wants to be friends. We then jump ahead three years, she is now married to the brit and wondering where her life changed so much.

He doesn’t know he just fell in love with the queen of running

We continue to jump from past to present We get to see just how the relationship developed and how they got to where they were and where Natalie’s journey takes her from there. There are twists and turns and people from the past come back into Natalie’s life.

My emotions were all over the place. We get hot sex scenes, LOL moments, a huge betrayal, and so much more. My heart went out to Natalie and what she had to deal with. Up until the epilogue I wasn’t sure how this was going to end and I have to say I was surprised with where Jack, Natalie, Tabatha and Collin ended up in their lives. I was pulled right in by Brittany Butler’s writing and I look forward to reading more from her.

Leaving Jackson Wolf by P.A. Kane – Review by Michelle Austin

Leaving Jackson WolfLeaving Jackson Wolf by P.A. Kane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Leaving Jackson Wolf was a great coming of age 5 star read.

Jackson and McDougal meet when they end up colliding with each other in school. McDougal is small for his age and was being bullied, the same ogre also turned on Jackson and needless to say he ended up suspended for 5 days. These two end up stealing some beer and getting to know each other a little more. This is also when they meet Lexi.

These two boys unexpectedly start to bond. As I learned more about Jackson my heart broke for the home life he had with his dad. I’m glad he had his grandma. As the story moves forward, these two face quite a few tough subjects.

I loved this story of strength and finding acceptance. My emotions were all over the place. Once I started I couldn’t stop reading. P.A. Kane does a great job of pulling you in with his writing. Souls Collide (Collide Series #3)Souls Collide by Kristina Beck
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Souls Collide was a great 5 star read and book three in the Collide series.

I loved Alexa, she was bubbly and always happy about everything. She wanted everyone else around her to be the same way. One day she literally runs into Kent, who definitely doesn’t have the same outlook as Alexa. He is a cranky and short tempered man who doesn’t like anyone. And of course it didn’t help that she thought he was dressed up as a cop for Halloween, when he in fact is an officer.

Fate of course steps in and these two start to see each other in several different places, and when she becomes friends with his sister Abby things get even more interesting. I have to say I love what she did at the bar, well played Alexa. As for Kent, I was so upset with how mean and short he was with her.

“That’s enough!” I don’t know if I want to punch him in the face or go at it with him on the hood of my car.

As we move forward we start to understand Kent and why he is the way he is. Eventually my heart did open up to him. Things also take a twist when Alexa ends up with a stalker. The protector in Kent takes over and tries to keep her safe.

The banter between Kent and Alexa was great, she could definitely give it back to him ten fold.
The secondary characters added a great element to the story. Overall I loved everything about this book, Kristina Beck does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing. There are twists and turns which I loved. Each story in the series can be read as a stand alone but I suggest starting with book one.

A Frothy Christmas Kiss was a fun 4 star read and the fourth book in the Christmas Kiss series.

Kat is starting over in a new place because she didn’t want a relationship with someone she considered a friend and nothing more. It’s hard because every time something exciting happens to her she can’t call and share it with him.

She is excited that she has found a new coffee place and they have so many different flavors. Because she knows so much about coffee Dan offers Kat a job. These two seem to have an instant connection physically and about coffee knowledge.

Why did her heart beat a little harder when he was near? What was it that pulled her towards him?

Could a misperception of something on Kat’s part put a damper on things? Can these two have a HEA?

Beats of the HeartBeats of the Heart by Charli B. Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beats of the Heart was a great 5 star read and book one in the Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star series. I LOVED this book and Izzy and Dawson are my new favorite couple.

Izzy is excited to be joining her boyfriend on tour. She wants nothing more than to be in his arms. Dawson is the lead singer of his band and they are at the top of the charts right now with a successful tour.

When Izzy joins Dawson for a few days, they have to keep their relationship undercover. When pictures start to come out in the tabloids Dawson starts to get heat from the label. He has to start spending time out in the clubs with his band and try and look single. That’s what draws the female fans in, ugh! Izzy tries very hard to understand the situation and supports Dawson as much as she can.

Shattered bulbs can’t give off light. A broken clock can’t measure time. A shattered mirror can’t reflect the truth. A broken car can’t get from point A to point B. How does a broken, shattered heart still beat? Why is it still expected to keep us alive?

After Izzy returns home there is a HUGE twist that throws everything off. My heart was twisted all up in my chest and I was teary eyed trying to read the words. And the ending, WHY did you have to end it on a cliffhanger? I need book two now so I can see what’s coming next. This book has prompted me to create a new folder in Goodreads – Must read series/book. This is my first read from Charli B. Rose and I can’t wait to read more, I was pulled right in and the connection between Izzy and Dawson was page melting. I am on the edge waiting for book two, Notes of the Heart. A Pink Christmas Kiss was a good 4 star read and the third book in the Christmas Kiss series.

Billie has recently returned home to help keep the family business up and running. It was just what she needed to bring her home. While she was in New York she was confused as to why Leroy, someone she loved very much never followed her.

You can’t love someone as much as I loved Leroy and just stop. I think I’ll always care, no matter what happens or how much time passes.

Now that she has returned can she reunite with Leroy or has he moved on? The first couple of times that Billie sees Leroy it doesn’t go very well. More like open mouth insert foot.
Billie also finds out why Leroy never left town, it helps her understand a little more about why he stayed.

Can Billie and Leroy find each other again after so many years? Can they get a HEA?

There is so much more to this Christmas read. You can feel the love coming off the pages between these two. I really liked Billie, she was a strong hard working woman who also had a stubborn streak. Leroy is great, he will capture your heart right away. We get romance, LOL moments and so much more. All of the secondary characters were great. Reckless was a great 5 star read
We get four great novella’s from four authors. Some I was familiar with and others were new to me. All of these stories pulled me right in.

Layla’s Chance (Mika Jolie)
This was a great rocker read. Layla decides to go on an impromptu trip to Martha’s Vineyard where she meets Chance. She has no idea who he is until after they have a hot and steamy evening. When she learns the truth will she stick around? These two had such a connection, I loved it. I really liked Layla and Chance and I would love to see more from them.

Dirty Martinis (P.M. Carson)
Rachel and Drew met on a dating website. They both have the same type of job that takes them all over the place. They do a lot of sexting and skyping. When they finally meet in person things take quite the emotional turn. Will meeting in person ruin what they had or can they get a HEA?

Into The Deep (Kylie Stewart)
This was my favorite in the anthology. Older man younger woman. Gemma meets Grayson and they agree to one night only, but something between them causes them to want more. We also get some drama that could cause some issues for them. I loved Grayson, what a dirty talking hot as heck man. I want to see more from these two.

The Spy Who Kissed Me (Sharla Lovelace)
Ava is a lawyer who has worked her butt off to be a partner. When she is asked to deliver a package in person she agrees, while at the airport she discovers some news that makes her change her destination. Dominic is an ex CIA agent who is following Ava, she has something he wants. He quickly discovers there is a big attraction between them. They do eventually have some steamy moments. Will Dominic get what he’s looking for? Can they have a HEA? This is a thrilling read with some danger as well.

All of these stories had great characters that you connect with instantly. They all had their own characteristics and I had some LOL moments. We get some steamy moments as well. Both Lucas and Quinn have something from their past that changed their lives. As I got to know these two and their story I really liked both of them.

Lucas is a member of the Bayou Devils MC. Quinn is a single mom raising her daughter and running her own business, thankfully she has the help of her sister.
When fate brings them together things take an interesting twist. Can these two make things work? Can they have a HEA?

My emotions were all over the place with this read. We get love, heartbreak, anger and so much more. Lucas pulled me in instantly. Hot!! Quinn’s strength was great and she was a very determined woman. She was a great match for Lucas. I really liked the secondary characters and would love to see more from some of them. Overall this was a great story that pulled me right in, I was done reading before I knew it. I look forward to reading more from this series.

Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Michelle Austin

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Eastern Shore Swingers Book 1-3
Phoebe Alexander

Fisher of Men was a great 5 star read and book one in the Eastern Shore Swingers series.

We have Leah who is an innocent in many ways, she is working as a Customer service person at a hotel. When she meets Cap at a party that she is working she is shocked to hear exactly what kind of party it is. Although, the lifestyle is a litte intriguing to her.

Leah ends up in a relationship with Cap. You go girl! We get some steamy scenes from them. I really enjoyed reading their story and there were some interesting twists that caused some issues for them. Will Leah be able to accept the lifestyle?

Leah was a little different, coming from a small town she was experiencing a lot of new things, and she was very hard working. Cap is of course in the lifestyle but when he saw Leah something about her drew him in. If he finds “the one” he would be willing to give up the lifestyle, will that be Leah? Can they have a HEA?

The secondary characters added a great element to the story. Phoebe has once again pulled me right in with her writing. I really like the quotes at the beginning of each chapter, they are great. The ending was great, I was a little nervous at first, I wasn’t sure exactly what was going to happen. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series, I need to see where things are going with these two.

The Catch was a great 4 star read and book two in the Eastern Shore Swingers series.

Paisley is a burlesque dancer who has been given the opportunity to become the manager of “The Factory”. She has plans for the club and want’s to involve social media, in comes Calvin Mitchell. He is a web designer that will definitely give Paisley what she needs.

Paisley has no desire to seek a relationship she enjoys her current lifestyle. When Paisley’s past follows her to Ocean City she asks Calvin for his help. Calvin also has plans of his own, he want’s Paisley to date him but she can’t commit. However the longer they spend time together things start to change. Will he be able to capture her heart after all?

This is a great read with so much more. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. Paisley is a strong woman with great confidence. Phoebe does a great job of pulling you in with her writing, you won’t want to put it down until your done. There is a HEA and no cliffhanger.
18+ suggested for reading due to content.

Siren call was a good 4 star read and the third book in the Eastern Shore Swingers series.
This is an erotic read with F/F storyline.

Jessie is a police officer with some not so great things in her past. She discovered that she was gay while she was in the academy and is a member of “The Factory” a swingers club, thanks to her friend Paisley. When a new member of “The Factory” starts to cause some concern, Jessie is asked to keep an eye on her.

Sirena recently joined the club and she seems to be drinking a lot and leaves with someone different every night. There is something about her that intrigues Jessie, so she is more than happy to help her friends.

Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope. – Maya Angelou

There is so much more to this read. As Jessie gets to know Sirena we get a look at each of their pasts and it’s heartbreaking what each of these women went through. They also have some very steamy moments together and at the club. There are twists and secrets revealed that added a great element to the story. I enjoyed the ending which includes a HEA. Degrees of Power (A Prestian Series #4) by Via Mari – Review by Michelle Austin

Degrees of Power (Prestian Series, #4)Degrees of Power by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Degrees of Power was a great 5 star read and book four in the Prestian Series.

We start where book three left off. This is a great must read series, I highly suggest reading the first three books before this one.

We continue to watch Katarina and Chase’s relationship develop. She starts to give him more control, which is hard for her. We also see Katarina show some great strength as well. There is of course some outside danger that cause some issues and adds a great element to the story.

We of course get suspense, plenty of hot and steamy BDSM moments, love, action and so much more. This is a couple that I have grown to really like, they are great for each other. Chase quickly became a favorite for me and I liked Katarina’s innocence in the beginning and watching her develop throughout the series. I was sad to see this series end, however I can’t wait to read more from Via Mari. My emotions were all over the place, I was happy with the end but would have liked to have a little more. Via Mari does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing. 1-click and get started today.

Guilty Pleasures Volume 2Guilty Pleasures Volume 2 by Joyce McCarthy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Guilty Pleasures Volume 2 was a very hot and steamy 4 star read.

This is a collection of short stories that will leave you very hot. There is an assortment of stories that range from teacher fantasies, MILF, Older woman/younger man, and so on. Each story jumps right into the hot stuff pretty quickly, and may remind you of some things you’ve seen on websites such as www.maturepornvideos.xxx online.

If you’re looking for a quick read with lots of hot and sexy moments then Guilty Pleasures Volume 2 is the book for you. You may be left a little hot and bothered. Being as short as it is I’m not going to go into too much detail, you will have to 1-click and find out the rest for yourself.

Healing Danger (A Fortis Security Novel) by Maddie Wade – Review by Michelle Austin

Healing Danger (Fortis Security #1)Healing Danger by Maddie Wade
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Healing Danger was a great 5 star read and book one in the Fortis Security series.
Once you start you will not want to put it down until your done.

Lauren and Dane had some not so great pasts that caused them both to be leary about opening their hearts up to each other. Their stories will tug at your heartstrings and you will understand the “why’ behind their issues. They were made for each other. Of course their journey isn’t an easy one, they do have their challenges.

There are unexpected twist and turns and the secondary characters added a great element to the story as well. This is a great book with suspense, romance, and so much more. I was pulled right in with Maddie’s writing. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. If you’re looking for a great series and a great group of characters 1-click and get started today on the Security series.

A Prickly Christmas Kiss by Allyson R. Abbott – Review by Michelle Austin

A Prickly Christmas KissA Prickly Christmas Kiss by Allyson R. Abbott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Prickly Christmas Kiss was a fun 4 star read.

We meet Elf who is just found out her best friend won’t be able to make it to the cabin with her for Christmas. Bad luck just seems to be following her. She is encouraged to go on by herself and have some time to herself.

Bad luck seemed to have become her middle name. She must’ve annoyed somebody somewhere, because everything was going wrong.

Now this is a city girl going into the country, not knowing how to run a generator or chop wood. But I do have to say she did the best she could. I had several LOL moments.

She meets Mr. and Mrs C and a cat she calls Sue. She also meets a mysterious man who she later learns is Rudy. These two don’t exactly get along the greatest in the beginning but you can feel something building between them. Have these two finally found the one?

If you’re looking for a quick, fun Holiday read this is the book for you. Allyson has done a great job with her writing and she pulls you right in. I look forward to reading more of the Christmas Kiss books in the series.

Hope’s Deceit (The Fated book 2) by Angela McPherson – Review by Michelle Austin

Hope's Deceit (The Fated #2)Hope’s Deceit by Angela McPherson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hope’s Deceit was a great 5 star read and book two in the Fated series.

We pick up shortly after the end of Hope’s Decree. After the betrayal the watchers are starting to make plans. Blain helps Trinity find her calmness and them as a couple it felt right, they seemed to work much better together.

Lesson number one: Don’t assume things, even if that assuming involved my beautiful Watcher boyfriend. Lesson number two: Never rely on what seemed to be correct.

Trinity has stepped up and is determined to prove herself and be part of the battle. Her mother of course is protective of her, especially when she gets sick because of thought-overload.

“I’ll fight for us. Always.”

I don’t want to give away too much, just know that there is so much going on in this great read. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. I loved all of the secondary characters. I had a lol moment at the Twilight reference from Crystal. And the ending, all I can say is Wow, how can it end like that? I want more. I look forward to the next book in the series.
