The Nearness of You by K.G. Fletcher – Review by Michelle Austin

The Nearness of YouThe Nearness of You by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Nearness of You was a great 5 star read.

Lauren is singing one night at her job and she meets this handsome man. She realizes who he is instantly and is shocked he is talking to her.

David Randle is a british super model in town for his sisters wedding, there is something about Lauren that he really likes. He ends up spending some extra time with her and sends her an invite to his sisters wedding.

Moving forward as Lauren spends more time with David she gets a look into what his life is like. And of course we can’t have a great story without some issues arising. David’s assistant isn’t happy with Lauren being in David’s life. Will she cause enough issues that things won’t work out? Can they have more than just a fling?

I really liked both of these characters very much. They each had great characteristics and were loveable. And you can’t help but love a hot british man. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. Its sweet the relationship that David has with his sister, I loved it. K.G. Fletcher has once again pulled me right in with her writing and I really love the playlists that she creates as well. 1-click and get started today.

Love, Christmas – Movies You Love (The Holiday Series Book 2) Anthology – Review by Michelle Austin

Love, Christmas - Movies You Love (The Holiday Series Book 2)Love, Christmas – Movies You Love by Mimi Barbour
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love, Christmas – Movies you love was a great 5 star read.
I loved this book and the 26 stories within the pages.

These are all new romance stories from so many great authors. Some were new authors for me and there were favorites as well. I love the twist on holiday movies with these stories, my emotions were all over the place with each of them. You can take your time and read a story here and there or sit and read them all at once. They range from second chance romance to historical romance and so much more.

A Wonderful life was an emotional read for me. Noel is about to make a drastic decision, he has too many people that will be impacted by his choice and his guardian angel couldn’t let him follow through with it. Than he meets Mary and things change for him. He was saved to help Mary and protect her. Will they get a HEA?

I was a mess reading Finding Love. When Lucy goes to her father’s cabin for Christmas. Lucy lost her father to a plane crash and being at the cabin makes her feel close to him. Then she meets Maverick the next door neighbor. Maverick feels like he’s known Lucy from all the stories her father shared with him. These two end up having sparks between them and develop some feelings. Will they have a HEA?

A Christmas Getaway pulled me right in and brought me to tears once again. Ryder goes on a ski trip to sulk in booze and get away. When he gets to the cabin he discovers it was double booked to Olivia and her son. He wasn’t happy about the situation. We learn as we move forward some of Ryder’s history, have the kleenex ready.

There are so many more great stories and I highly recommend you 1-click and get reading. I look forward to reading more from all of these authors. What a great way to get in the holiday mood.

Siren Call by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Michelle Austin

Siren CallSiren Call by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Siren call was a good 4 star read and the third book in the Eastern Shore Swingers series.
This is an erotic read with F/F storyline.

Jessie is a police officer with some not so great things in her past. She discovered that she was gay while she was in the academy and is a member of “The Factory” a swingers club, thanks to her friend Paisley. When a new member of “The Factory” starts to cause some concern, Jessie is asked to keep an eye on her.

Sirena recently joined the club and she seems to be drinking a lot and leaves with someone different every night. There is something about her that intrigues Jessie, so she is more than happy to help her friends.

Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope. – Maya Angelou

There is so much more to this read. As Jessie gets to know Sirena we get a look at each of their pasts and it’s heartbreaking what each of these women went through. They also have some very steamy moments together and at the club. There are twists and secrets revealed that added a great element to the story. I enjoyed the ending which includes a HEA. If your looking for a good series with some hot romance, 1-click and get started today. Each book can be read as a stand alone but I suggest you read them from the beginning.

Michael's HeartMichael’s Heart by Lori Thomas Harrington
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Michael’s Heart was a great 5 star read.

Colbie has a love of music, so much so that it affects her deeply and is a passion of hers. She is one of three that has qualified to win a contest that will give her money to fund a charity that she has created. After a bad accident Colbie ends up in surgery, while out she meets “the one” but he’s on the other side. She realizes that Michael is her soul mate and commits her heart to him.

It’s not what you look at, Love. It’s what you see.

As the story moves forward, Colbie gets a dream job of writing jingles for a TV company. She also meets Will and his daughter. These two end up becoming a big part of Colbie’s life and she starts to grow close to Will. But her heart belongs to Michael.

There is so much more to this great read. I was shocked to learn just who Michael was and there were several other twists and turns I didn’t see coming. I really liked all of the characters, they added a great element to the story. This story really makes you think about the other side and if we have someone watching over us. This was an emotional read, once I started I couldn’t put it down until I was done. This is my second read from Lori and I look forward to reading more. 1-click and get started today.

Small Town Hero by Kim Koby – Review by Michelle Austin

Small Town Hero (Small Town Brides, #1)Small Town Hero by Kim Koby
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Small Town Hero was a good 4 star read and book one in the Small Town Brides series.

Rebecca walks in on her fiance and best friend in bed, in shock she finds herself in her car driving for hours. When she stops for a rest her car ends up breaking down, now she is stranded in a town 10 hours away from home.

Ryan meets Rebecca when he wakes her up in her car. There is something about her that draws him in. When she discovers her car is broke down he offers to help her. When they find that the hotel is under construction, Ryan offers his home to Rebecca. These two get to know each other and grow closer as the days pass.

What will happen when Rebecca’s car is fixed and she goes home? Can they have a long distance relationship?

The secondary characters were good and I loved Chief. There’s some twists and a jealous ex. I liked Rebecca and the gift she was saving for her future husband, she has a lot to deal with and finding Ryan was great timing. Ryan was great, he had some heartbreak in the past. Rebecca was a refreshing new start for him to pursue. I found myself wanting more in certain areas, things seemed a little rushed. I liked how things came together in the end but I would have liked to see more, it felt like it stopped abruptly with no epilogue. I do however look forward to reading more from this series, would like to read about Ryan’s brothers and sister.

BECKONED, Part 5: Adrift in Costa RicaBECKONED, Part 5: Adrift in Costa Rica by Aviva Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beckoned was a good 4 star read and part five in the “Beckoned” series.

We start with Soren going to see Angela to solidify in his heart that they won’t have a future together. Angela is involved with Kieran and very happy.

Soren ends up moving to Costa Rica to start over. He decides to try new things like learning how to surf. He ends up meeting Elena and they hit if off. But, Elena has some secrets of her own. Can Elena and Soren have something or will secrets get in the way?

Elena was a strong independent character, who tries to protect her heart. When she met Soren the sparks flew. We do get some hot and steamy scenes from these two. I love the playlist and recipes, once I started I didn’t want to stop until I was done. The secondary characters were great and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Redemption (Ash Park, #5)Redemption by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Redemption was a thrilling 5 star read and book 5 in the Ash Park series. I was so excited to get my hands on this book to see how the series ended and I wasn’t disappointed at all.

I really enjoy books that have me trying to figure out things as I’m reading, only to be thrown way off base. There were several twists and turns that added great elements to the story. We continue with Detective Petrosky and the cases he is working on. Could there be a connection between them? Will he finally solve his daughters murder?

I don’t want to give anything away about this great read so be prepared for an intense read that will leave you emotionally spent. Meghan does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing. All of the secondary characters were great. It was great how everything tied together in this series finale. I highly suggest reading all of the books in the series before this one.Beware that there are some scenes in the series that could be triggers for some. Painting Kuwait Violet by Pamela Q. Fernandes – Review by Michelle Austin

Painting Kuwait VioletPainting Kuwait Violet by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Painting Kuwait Violet was a good 4 star read.

Against her mother’s wishes, Violet gets a job working as a maid in Kuwait to help pay her father’s debts after his death. She is working in Kuwaiti’s house. While there she struggles with some barriers being in a new area and can’t leave until her contract is up.

We watch Violet develop and adjust to her new setting and create some friendships. There are lots of twist and turns with a great storyline. It felt like we were getting a second story when maids started to disappear. There was the mystery of who was doing it and why. The secondary characters added a great element to the story as well.

I found some things difficult to read when it came to the violence and treatment towards women. I had to keep telling myself this was a foreign culture. There were a few ugly cry scenes for me, I was a wreck. This is my first read from this author, she pulls you right in with the detail that you won’t want to stop until your done. If you like a good page turning mystery with suspense as well, this is a book you will enjoy. I look forward to reading more from Pamela.

Degrees of Acceptance (Prestian Series, #2)Degrees of Acceptance by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Degrees of Acceptance was a great 5 star read and book 2 in the Prestian series.
I really suggest that you read the first book just so that you know the history on these two, I think that it would really help.

Katarina and Chase are continuing with their relationship and I loved it. Chase is very concerned about Katarina’s safety due to so many things that are going on. When Katarina finds out who her father is that adds more to the story as well.

I really liked Chase and how protective he was with not only Katarina but with the extended friends and family as well. He was a very detailed man and planned for everything. At times I did feel like he was a little too much but I know it was out of love for Kate.

There is so much going on and they have several sexy moments that are hot. They can’t get enuff of each other. There are some twists and turns that threw me, along with mystery, hot sex, danger, and so much more. Once I started I couldn’t stop until I was done. All of the secondary characters were great. I had an idea of how I wanted to see it end but I didn’t expect what really happened. I can’t wait until the next book to see where all of this goes from here. There is all sorts of dark going on in this great series and Hidden continues to add even more.

Petrosky is working on a brutal murder case of a grandmother. When he discovers that a killer from the past is back he is determined to stop him. I was trying to figure things out right from the beginning and flying threw the pages to see what was coming next.

Will he be able solve the murder before anyone else becomes a victim?

The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)The Jack by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Jack was a great 5 star read and book 2 in The Immortal Series.
I was excited to get started on this read to see where the series was going next with Archer.

We get pulled in right from the beginning when Archer is sitting on the beach watching the one woman he loved but would never have because of choices that were made years before. When Sadie sits down next to him, something happens that causes him to make a choice.

By warning Archer, Sadie has revealed her true self, she panics and takes off. When Archer reveals how he knew of the impending danger, he is convinced to help search for Sadie.

What will happen when they find her? Will they work together or against each other?

I really liked Sadie, she tugged at my heart strings, especially with the years spent alone. Archer was great as well and when he connects with Sadie you can feel the connection. There is so much to this great story, suspense, twists, secrets, tears, and a little bit of romance for good measure. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. The Jack can be read as a stand alone, but I feel you will understand things so much better if you start with book 1. I can’t wait to get started on the next book in the series.

The Boss by Abigail Owen – Review by Michelle Austin

The Boss (Fire's Edge, #1)The Boss by Abigail Owen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Boss was a great 5 star read and book 1 in the Fire’s Edge series.

Finn is the leader of a group of dragon shifters. We get a glimpse into a very heartbreaking scene with Finn that shows us why he’s against finding a new mate. But when he meets Delaney there is something that draws him in, the need to protect her.

Delaney has tried to flee her stalker and unexplained fires by moving across country. When another fire starts at the winery she is working on, she is terrified. There is something about Finn that she feels like she can finally open up to someone without feeling like she’s crazy.
Will Finn and the team understand? Can they help her?

When they find out who/what is really after Finn things take a twist.
There is so much more to this great read. Finn and Delaney end up giving into their attraction and it’s very steamy or should I say fire starting. There is danger, suspense, mystery, and so much more. I loved Delaney’s sassiness and strength. All of the secondary characters were great and the dragons sounded really hot and were just like a huge family. I can’t wait to read more from this series and I wouldn’t mind some more from Finn and Delaney as well.

This is my first read from Abigail Owen and I was pleasantly surprised. I was pulled right in and didn’t want to stop until I was done.

Must Remember (Solum, #1)Must Remember by Colleen S. Myers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Must remember was a very interesting 4 star read and book one in the Solum series.

The way this book starts is really twisted and insane. I had no idea what was going on right along with Elizabeth. Elizabeth ends up waking up in a whole new world with two suns. She is beyond confused, she ends up meeting some men that take her back to their village.

Elizabeth would have memories here and there, she was also learning about her magic. We also get a love triangle when Finn and Marin are vying for her attention and they are not shy about it. I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about Marin at first, he seemed a little shady for me. Finn pulled me in until some secrets were revealed. I’m still on the fence on whose team I’m on.

There is so much more that goes on, danger, secrets, suspense and action. I really liked Elizabeth’s strength and sassiness, I had so many LOL moments with her. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. We do end with a cliff hanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Colleen has done another great job of pulling you right in with her writing.

Marks of the MazzaMarks of the Mazza by Blake Blessing
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Marks of the Mazza was an interesting 4 star read and book one of the Mazza series.
This is my first read by Blake Blessing and her debut as well. This is an interesting new twist to paranormal romance/Reverse Harem and my first time reading this genre.

After closing up for the night at her job, Isolde ends up getting into a car that she thought was her Uber, there are very handsome men in the car. She ends up seeing the men again and there is an attraction that she is feeling. After a toe curling kiss she finds herself waking up in a whole new world where she is staying with Donato, Sage, Egan and Jari.

These men have been friends since childhood and have made an agreement amongst them, to mate with a Mazza, when they find her to get their full powers to help in the war. We discover that Sage may have a little glitch in his commitment, will he follow through with mating? There are definitely plenty of other’s very interested in taking his place, good and bad.

There are additional characters introduced and they all added a great element to the story. I was pulled right in and really enjoyed this story. There is so much going on and we do get some hot mating scenes as well. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. Joker's Fool (Satan's Devils MC #8)Joker’s Fool by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Joker’s Fool was a great 5 star M/M read and is book 8 in the Satan’s Devils MC.
We jump from past to present as Joker remembers his childhood memories.

Joker has a secret that he’s keeping from his MC brothers. We get a deeper look into Joker’s childhood and his struggles he went through at home. Kind of breaks your heart, I had a few teary eyed moments.

Lady helps Joker realize that there is nothing wrong with him and that they can be happy with who they are and who they love. Lady had a very different upbringing that was supportive and very opposite of Joker.

Can these two have a HEA? How will their brothers react to the truth?

Manda really pulled me in with her writing. My emotions were all over the place, hate, fear of discovery, pain from past, and so much more. Joker had me right from the first time I met him in the series, and getting to know his story was something I couldn’t wait to read. I’m glad that Lady was there to love and help Joker. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. This can be read as a stand alone, I definitely need to go back and catch up.

Fisher of MenFisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fisher of Men was a great 5 star read and book one in the Eastern Shore Swingers series.

We have Leah who is an innocent in many ways, she is working as a Customer service person at a hotel. When she meets Cap at a party that she is working she is shocked to hear exactly what kind of party it is. Although, the lifestyle is a litte intriguing to her.

Leah ends up in a relationship with Cap. You go girl! We get some steamy scenes from them. I really enjoyed reading their story and there were some interesting twists that caused some issues for them. Will Leah be able to accept the lifestyle?

Leah was a little different, coming from a small town she was experiencing a lot of new things, and she was very hard working. Cap is of course in the lifestyle but when he saw Leah something about her drew him in. If he finds “the one” he would be willing to give up the lifestyle, will that be Leah? Can they have a HEA?

The secondary characters added a great element to the story. Phoebe has once again pulled me right in with her writing. I really like the quotes at the beginning of each chapter, they are great. The ending was great, I was a little nervous at first, I wasn’t sure exactly what was going to happen. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series, I need to see where things are going with these two.

The Sound of Love by Maria Watts – Review by Michelle Austin

The Sound of Love (The Sound series #1)The Sound of Love by Maria Watts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Sound of Love was a great 5 star read.

Chris is the lead singer of the band The Funky Boys, Nina ends up finding Chris’s phone # and they start to talk all the time on the phone and grow closer. As they get to know each other she finds herself being pulled into his world. When Chris’s band comes to her area their connection is overwhelming.

She ends up going on tour with Chris and his band and see what his life entails. It’s definitely not what she had pictured. Can she deal with the groupies and the hectic life of a Rockstar? Can these two make things work or will Nina go back to her own world?

There is so much to The Sound of Love that really pulled me in. To read about their journey and the realizations that Nina has about life. Chris is torn, he wants Nina but he doesn’t want to change.

Nina she was the innocent that gets pulled into a shocking and wild lifestyle. She would allow Chris to hurt her over and over again and still go back. Chris at times was not nice and I wanted to smack him quite a few times. He was spoiled due to the quick rise in fame and I think he felt entitled.

The thing about this story that pulled me in is that this is two are teenagers discovering their first love, they both come from totally different worlds. I was pulled right in with their story. And who hasn’t fantasized about going on tour with her rocker crush? oh my what I wouldn’t do for that. What a dream. 1-click and find out for yourself. Thank you Maria Watts for a good read that brought back memories and fantasies for me.

The Reader was an interesting 4 star read.

Ann wakes up on a beach with no memory of who she is and a gunshot wound to her arm. She ends up meeting Devon and Archer who were sent to find her and bring her safely back to the compound where doc can help her.

Both Devon and Archer definitely have different personalities. Devon was standoffish and short with Ann and Archer was charming and helpful. As I got to know them better and we learned more about Ann and the Readers, I understood some things even more.

Ann starts to have memory flashes here and there. I had a lol moment during the “rat” scene. Ann eventually gets confronted and threatened by someone who has some jealousy issues with her.

There are some twists, turns and a love triangle. This was a quick read with a good storyline. The secondary characters were great, my most favorite character was Lucy, her personality was bouncy and fun. I really enjoyed this book, although while reading I felt some similarities to some other books I’ve read. If your looking for some action and heart stopping moments this would be a good read for you. I actually would love to see more from all of these characters, maybe some history on them. Can’t wait to see what’s coming next from M.K. Harkins.

Special Agent Charli was a great 5 star read and book 6 in the Undercover FBI series.
This is a great romantic thriller and my first read from Mimi Barbour, she pulled me right in.

Charli was great, she had some sassiness to her. She was looking forward to a long vacation when Alicia shows up at her door begging for help. Alicia has witnessed a murder and now he’s coming for her. Charli is asked to go into witness protection to take care of Alicia and keep her safe.

Blake is quite the ladies man and when put in charge of Charli and Alicia he finds himself attracted to Charli. He knew just how to push Charli’s buttons. Charli found Blake very handsome and she felt some attraction, but there was also something about him that annoyed her.

These two played off each other, the bantering was great. Charli has some very big walls built up, can Blake break them down? Can they find the killer before its too late?

The secondary characters added a great element to the story. I loved Gramps, he was great and I had several lol moments with him. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. This was an action packed thriller and I can’t wait to read more from this author. It can be read as a stand alone.

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms)Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter by Sheri-Lynn Marean
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Casstiel was a good 4 star read.
This is my first read from Sheri-Lynn Marean and I was pleasantly surprised. This isn’t a genre that I usually read but Casstiel and Ashara pulled me right in with their story.

Casstiel lost his mate 10 years ago and before she died she severed their bond so he couldn’t follow her. Heartbroken and not understanding why, he goes through several stages of anger. He has also discovered that he is connected to another person and until that connection is severed he won’t be able to join his mate. Who could it be and why? Casstiel gets a shock when the person he’s been searching for walks into his life in a very unexpected time.

Ashara was held captive by the enemy several years, she was treated horribly and was kept as a breeder. She had several children that were taken from her. She is also a dragon shifter but has hidden it for years. Casstiel welcomes Ashara into his home and as they get to know each other their connection grows stronger.

Can Casstiel finally get what he’s wanted for years” Or will his connection to Ashara take over?

There is so much more to this story. My emotions were all over the place. The secondary characters were great. Casstiel’s daughter eventually grew on me, she was a little testy in the beginning. I really liked how Casstiel helped Ashara shift into her dragon and work with her. Even though he was a testy hot alpha male he still had a pretty big heart also. I was happy with the ending and I look forward to reading more from these characters.

Just Exes was a good 4 star read.

The story starts with Lauren being accused of starting her apartment on fire, when her landlord calls the police she is shocked to see who shows up. He’s back in town?

Gage has been avoiding Lauren since he returned to town, but when he showed up to a possible arson he is surprised to see who the accused is. I have to say I had a LOL moment when he cuffed her and took her away.

Lauren broke Gage’s heart years ago and he’s never gotten over her. Gage also has some very heartbreaking demons from his past that he has been carrying with him. My heart broke for him and what he went through.

Now that these two have reconnected can they get back what they once had? What will Gage do if he finds out why she broke his heart?

My emotions were all over the place with this second chance romance. I was pulled in right from the beginning. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nikolai was a great 5 star read.
All I can say is wow, the way the scenes are written my heart was racing right along with Justine’s especially when Nikolai tried to intimidate her with words and looks. The chemistry these two have is off the charts hot.

Justine is a first year lawyer, she is a strong, sassy character with some secrets of her own. She has a brother who saved her life, so now she’s trying to save his. When Nikolai ends up on house arrest at Justine’s for 72 hours, she tries her best to avoid him but he is making it very difficult. What will happen if he finds out her secret?

Nikolai is an extremely hot mafia Prince. At first I wasn’t sure I liked him but it didn’t take me long to fall hard. He is arrogant, controlling, dangerous, intimidating, and very smart. He knows what he wants and it’s Justine.

I don’t trust anyone, Ahren. The devil was once an angel too. – Nikolai

There is so much more to this great read. I had several LOL moments along with some heart stopping ones. All of the secondary characters were great. The ending left me wanting more and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. 1-click and get started today on this great steamy read.

Unbreak This Heart by Betty Shreffler – Review by Michelle Austin

Unbreak This HeartUnbreak This Heart by Betty Shreffler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unbreak This Heart was an emotional 5 star read.

I was pulled right in by Alex and her story. She is trying to move forward from a life changing attack that happened over a year ago. She lost so much including her fiance.

My despair and fear have become a black hole from which I can’t escape. I fear the dark. I fear sleep. I fear what comes to me every night.

When her best friend gets her kickboxing lessons she meets Carter. He stirs things up in her she hasn’t felt in a very long time. Just when Carter thinks he may have a chance with Alex, her ex Todd shows back up in the picture. Of course things get complicated and both men want Alex, she still has feelings for Todd but also feels a little something for Carter. Who will she choose?

I quickly found my favorite in Carter he was such a strong, loving man and so badly wanted to be with Alex and give her the love she rightfully deserved. Todd was an arrogant douchebag who was all about himself and didn’t seem to care at all about Alex and her fears. And his family, ugh don’t get me started on his mother.

Tragedy doesn’t break you down, it builds you up.

Just when I thought things were going great, there is a HUGE twist that left me in tears. How could you do this to me Betty? This was quite the page turner and I was up late reading it because I had to see how it ended. I was very happy with the ending but I would love to see more from these two. The secondary characters were great, loved Alex’s bestie Jane. My emotions were all over the place. This book has made my top reads of 2018 list for sure. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from this author.

I Am Kimberly Cole: A Journey Into Terror by R.G. Miller – Review by Michelle Austin

I Am Kimberly Cole: A Journey into TerrorI Am Kimberly Cole: A Journey into Terror by R.G. Miller
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I Am Kimberly Cole: A Journey into Terror was a creepy 5 star read.
This book definitely has some twisted moments and scenes that really threw me off.

This is a story that is told in multiple POV’s. At first I wasn’t sure how they were all connected until there was a huge twist and Madison meets Kimberly while out clubbing.

Madison and her daughter Terri are homeless and have been living in shelters for years. Madison is trying to make enough money to get them into their own home. Meeting Kimberly definitely changes their lives.

Just as Madison thinks things are going great for them there is a huge twist. A twist that causes Madison to impersonate Kimberly. What Madison doesn’t realize is that she has just put her and her daughter in serious twisted danger. Kimberly had some serious skeletons in her closet and Madison just opened the door.

There were some really way out their scenes that creeped me out and had me wondering what the heck I just read. All of the secondary characters were great and the ending was a WTF kind of moment, what a way to end it. I’m wondering if R.G. Miller will be continuing this story. This was a quick read that really pulls you in.

Phoenix Rising: A Fortis Security Novel Book 7 by Maddie Wade – Review by Michelle Austin

Phoenix Rising: A Fortis Security Novel Book 7 (Fortis Security Series)Phoenix Rising: A Fortis Security Novel Book 7 by Maddie Wade
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Phoenix Rising was a great 5 star read and book 7 in the Fortis Security Series.

I loved this book and it’s characters. You get pulled in right from the beginning with the prologue, my heart just broke for Daniel and his daughter.

We jump ahead a year when Megan is in a serious accident, but was it an accident? And Daniel is struggling with his feelings for her, which come out tenfold when he sees her at the accident scene. He is no longer willing to worry about what his best friend and her brother will do when he finds out how he feels.

After their one night together Megan couldn’t get Daniel out of her head and heart. But he was treating her like she didn’t exist, not understanding why. She then discovers something that will change both of their lives, how will he react to the news?

This man was probably the most dangerous man in the world to her, part of her knew she should run, but the bigger part of her wanted to curl up at his feel like a contented kitten.

We move forward with this great read, to encounter more secrets along with more dangerous twists and turns, especially when the past comes back to haunt Megan. Will Daniel and the Fortis Security team be able to keep her safe? This was an on the edge of your seat, nail biting read. I read this in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down. I really loved all of the secondary characters, they are like one big family. I’m super excited to get my hands on the next book in the series. I highly suggest 1-clicking and getting started today on this great series.

Behind the Fan by Caroline Walken – Review by Michelle Austin

Behind the FanBehind the Fan by Caroline Walken
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Behind the Fan was a great 5 star read.
This was my first read from this author and I was pulled right in.

Dorothy’s (Dottie) story was a page turner. Due to some episodes of absence of presence (Alzheimer’s), her family decides it’s time for her to go into a home.

As they are packing up Dorothy’s things they are discovering a past they never knew about and are surprised and shocked. We shift from past to present as the story moves forward. I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster with everything that we learned about Dorothy.

I couldn’t help but think of my grandmother and the things that I may not know about her life. Which makes me curious now. I connected on an emotional level with the characters and the details were great. This is a story that you will keep thinking about after your done. I loved this story and I look forward to reading more from Caroline.

Repressed (Ash Park, #3) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Michelle Austin

Repressed (Ash Park, #3)Repressed by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Repressed was a great 5 star read and is book three in the Ash Park series.
All I can say is wow, after reading this book, it was disturbing, dark, intense and twisted. Once I started I didn’t want to put it down.

I was excited to get to know Morrison better in this book. He is newly married and a new dad on top of it. He had a serious addiction in his past that has caused some blank spots in his memory. When his family is kidnapped his past comes spiraling back.

Will he be able to save them in time?

This was a fast paced read that twisted me in so many directions. There is so much going on I don’t want to give anything away. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. I have to say I wouldn’t be disappointed if Roger fell off the face of the earth, I did not care for him at all. My emotions were all over the place and I was on the edge of my seat. Meghan does a great job with her writing and all the detail, she pulled me right in. You feel like your right there with the characters. If you love dark suspense this is definitely the book for you. This can be read as a stand alone. Warning: some scenes are gruesome and could be triggers for some.
